Product Spotlight: Alienation Grips update

We feel quite privileged that the guys at ECI brought Alienation Moto (lock on) and Backlash sample grips back from the Taipei International Bike Show, the biggest bike show in the world.

The Alienation Moto and Backlash grips certainly aren’t new, but we managed to snag some with a cool new update.

Looking at them there doesn’t appear to be much different about them so I went straight to the source to try and get some information.

This is what Zachary Taylor (VP of Alienation) had to say “the samples grips are with a new material. It’s as grippy but the factory is saying 10x the durability. It’s called VEXK.

We did a search on VEXK and found there are some grips being manufactured with the material already, but that’s about all we could determine.

The moto grips are popular amongst those who have been exposed to them, but they did tend to wear out quickly. It looks like the new material could bring the moto grip back into the spotlight.

Taylor said “I designed the grip so thin it just gets eaten up. While it’s on it the bike it’s the greatest grip ever. This is why we lowered the retail price to offset the short life span. Hopefully this improves longevity.”

I’ve heard others swear the moto grip is the greatest grip ever, I’m more of a backlash kind of guy. It’s a much bigger grip, perfect for a bigger hand and it’s thicker and softer which I like, because when I’m not on the race track I prefer to ride with bare hands.

We’ll be putting the grips through their paces and seeing what sort of a difference the VEXK material will make.

Watch this space.
