Rescheduled BSX “Ride For Kaelen” Session This Saturday

We have had to reschedule the original Ride for Kaelen due to poor weather, the new day is this Saturday at the BSX V2.0 track.

BSX is a backyard BMX track nestled in the picturesque Kinglake area 60kms outside of Melbourne’s CBD. The track is set up for one-on-one head-to-head racing, the BSX event has been running for 11 years now, raising in excess of $40,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

This Saturday November 12 we have a special ride session “Ride for Kealen” starting at 1 pm. There will be a $5 donation per rider and all the money we raise will be passed on to “Kathleen’s Dream for Kaelan”.

Help us raise money for “Kathleen’s Dream for Kaelan”. This is a fund that is extremely close to our hearts. Kathleen is the late mother of Kaelan and wife to Scotty Hand from A-Team Distro who have been a massive supporter of BSX for many years. We strongly believe in supporting those who support you.

This event will be the first official ride on BSX Version 2.0, the new track at the new location. We have a new start hill too, although the gate most likely won’t be operating on Saturday.

Keep an eye out on https://www.facebook.com/bsxinc for more details as the day approaches.

If you can’t make it on Saturday but would still love to help you can click on the link below and make a direct donation.

About the fund

September 24th, Kathleen was home alone with her 6 year old son Kaelan. Her husband Scott was working away. Kaelan found his mother unresponsive on the floor, he called Triple 0, performed CPR and waited for the ambulance to arrive to help his mummy.

Tragically, Kathleen at age 38, had suffered a fatal brain anuerism. It took Scott 24 hours and two flights to get home from work to be with his son. Scott worked away to support his family so that Kathleen could be a dedicated stay at home mother. Kathleen was there for every school pick up and drop off, every carnival, she took him to violin lessons, karate, BMX, Auskick, swimming and Japanese lessons.

Kathleen donated all of her organs to people in need. She didn’t have life insurance. Scott can no longer work away as he is now the sole carer for Kaelan.

If you have anything spare you can please donate to this beautiful family to help them keep Kaelan in the school of Kathleen’s dreams. The familiarity and support of the pastoral care who specialise in dealing with grief can support Scott and Kaelan, and obviously being surrounded by teachers, students and friends who knew Kathleen and love Kaelan – this school is where Kaelan needs to be.

We are also having an online auction on our Facebook page called ‘Kathleen’s Dream for Kaelan’ if you or your business would like to donate.

On behalf of Kathleen, we’d really appreciate your donation no matter how small. She was an incredible, down to earth, selfless human being.

About BSX

BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style BMX racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider’s skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are intense under race conditions, offering a fun and entertaining event for competitors and spectators alike. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the annual BMX Victoria Track Attack series.

The primary goal BSX is to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation but there’s so much more to the event. It creates an atmosphere that words just can’t describe. Since the very first event in 2006, BSX has raised over $40,000 helping to providing the hospital with much-needed equipment.
