THE Dry Sock

THE now have a product that will absorb the moisture and odour from your racing shoes, well not specifically racing shoes, any shoes really. The name of the THE Dry Sock may be a little misleading. It’s a pair of bags that seem to be full of a bead like substance, all you do is simply pop them in your shoes overnight and let them do their thing. When you are using the shoes again you hang the Dry Socks out to air.THE Dry Sock

The whole idea of the Dry Sock is quite simple and convenient, but how do you test then during winter when it’s too cold to crack a sweat? I thought I would put them through an extreme test, far beyond what they would normally be used for. Completely unrelated to BMX but relevant to the level of testing, I decided to use the Dry Sock during an inline hockey tournament. During the winter inline hockey skates can take some time to dry after a sweaty game, and playing a game every second day means that your skates are constantly wet and cold. This is where the Dry Sock came to the rescue. After each game I put the Dry Sock in the boots and by the next day the boots where dry and the Dry Socks were damp.

I assume that the Dry Sock could be also used to dry gloves or maybe even a sweaty helmet, but haven’t tried.

Rating 20/20:

Value for money: 5/5
Weight: 5/5
Functionality: 5/5
Looks/Finish: 5/5

Comments:

  • Anything that can suck odour and sweat from your shoes will have to be worth it’s weight in gold.
  • The Dry Socks are very light and conveniently compact, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding room for these in your gear (or helmet) bag.
  • They work perfectly.
  • The THE Dry Sock is made of heavy materials and looks to have heavy stitching holding it all together with tabs so they can be hung to dry. There are no health/safety warnings though, but I would keep them away from your pets just in case they manage to chew through them.

Australia specific information:

THE products are imported into Australia by ECI (Elite Cycle
