Was checking out accommodation in Cairns, just to get an idea of cost etc. There's some really nice cabins/villas going for 1/2 the price and WOTIF have a great listing of hotel/motels going for half the cost as well. May is Cairns low season, thinking that if BMX head to Cairns their high season is going to be extended.

Would love to go to Sth Africa to watch the worlds, but way of reach. So am going to do  as many state titles down the southern end of Aus as we can this yr. Load the trailer up, bikes in the car and drive.

BMX MAD have the bikes with prices listed

http://www.bmxmad.com.au/?stg=449&sw=8

I was wondering if the bikes are the same dimensions as the 2009, besides the colour changes, (& cost) what's the actual difference. I'm still learning about bike speciality, please excuse my ignorance.

Ive been considering new bikes for my boys 9 and 10yrs for awhile now and getting meself in a muddle. For boys that age who have a heap of growing to do, what size do you get? Flight Expert, XL, Pro XL - what are the differences etc I don't want to spend a fortune on bikes to have them frow out of it 2 yrs.
11  General Category / General discussion / Vandalism - what's happened at your track. on: September 15, 2009, 09:55:04 PM
In the past 12 months The Cove has been hit with various acts of vandalism. Graffiti on the walls, the council have come in and cleaned it up. Unfortunatly the council guys painted over the professional signeage that was put on the water tank and left the vandals master peaces on the club room walls, lol.

The club rooms where broken into where 4 bikes were staying over night, the burglers got in through cutting a whole in the roof. They only took one bike and sought out the training money which was not there. Evidence suggest they knew where to look as nothing else was touched.

In the past 24hrs vandals have broken into the start gate enclosure and cut all the wiring, they did not hold back on that.

I was just wondering what other clubs have experienced with vandals, theft and misfortune place on the club by other means that are not due to weather changes. I realise this sort of stuff happens with clubs of all sports etc. Just wandering how often it occurs in BMX, how far do other clubs go with security measures.

Werent shep considering camping at the track?? Does anoyone know if they are going to be doing that. It would be easier on alot of people who want to camp if they could just set up at the track.

Enquired about that at the worlds and there will be no camping at the track. It would mean that they need to supply toilets/showers etc adding to the cost of the venue construction, regulations and all the rest. At Perth lots of people camped and it was great.

Hi guys, been reading through the post AGAIN (i know a bit slow) & now I'm starting to get very concerned , so tonight I thought I'd have a look and try and get some prices some 8 months out. Like everyone has said ALL Properties have a 'No rooms available" at the end of your inquiry for the dates in May.

Going by the Events World domination info page http://www.events.com.au/site/_content/document/00000193-source.pdf  all family rooms have been sold out in the greater shepparton area which only leaves surrounding area's with most being 50-70km from Shepparton, bit of a drive each day especially when the majority are at the track 5 or more days in a row.

Some people have mentioned lately in other posts that they can't understand why a large number of members on this forum complain about our governing body/s. Well I'll say this;
If you are the person responsible for the planning of the most anticipated yearly event "the Aussies" and you were in touch with the people that you are representing,  then YOU WOULD KNOW THAT at least 80% of these people are families and the very first criteria of your selection process would be FAMILY ACCOMMODATION AVAILABILITY.....which no reflection on the Shepparton BMX community,  seems to be severely lacking in Shepparton. The secound criteria would be of course the TRACK & facilties.....which I'm sure the Shepparton members will do their best to provide an excellent venue.

To make things more laughable BMXA have allowed probably for a small sponsorship deal, a company that feeds off others to make large profits. For example:

Quote for accommodation at Echuca's Quest for November 2009 (wouldn't allow me to go any further) daily rate for a family 2 bedroom unit is $205 a night ($188 a night for the restricted rate), for the exact same room in May printed on the Events World domination page (above) is quoted at $260 a night, as most of us stay for at least 5-7 days that a difference of $335 maybe more for the 6 nights averaged...........so whose pockets are being lined with this extra money?

I personally don't know anyone who has booked and confirmed accommodation yet up here in SQ, so it seems it's fruitless to even bother as all family rooms are gone or if you're made of money and don't mind paying $315+ a night it's over. Unless I can find a suitable place to stay, there will be 5 less noms next year at Shepparton, sorry guys....... but 8 months out and the event is starting to piss people off already.........A BIG THANKS GOES TO BMXA yet again for reading the fine print of the sponsorship deal you readily signed with this leech of a company who is feeding off your members with price fixing and profiteering.

For the cost of whats left in the way of accommodation for my family, I was considering going to the NZ Nationals 2nd - 4th April, get more mileage out of my money !!

Adding more info on accommodation from talking to various hotels/motels you certainly get lots of different information.

The owners/managers have stated that they are not happy with arrangments as they have to turn so many people away.

Shepparton alone does not have the capacity to accommodate 3000 visits.

Events world wide are giving BMXA finances at the end of the event - their contribution of sponsourship etc. From my perspective it looks like our additional finances are being redirected to bmxa.

Another suggestion for accommodation from one hotel owner was to get intouch with the Shepparton Swan footy club. They have in the past allowed clubs to camp at the oval, use the club rooms, kitchen, showers etc and set up camp on the footy oval. The person to speak to is Cheryl Hunter 0418219311   http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?client=1-6165-80586-0-0  footy website. If you can not get Cheryl try her husband Dave 0358219311. I was considerring this options but now have Strayleaves booked.

well said Gorey.

We were thinking the same thing just before worlds there is 5 of us and we were told there was only one place with family rooms left at $315 per night, we too stay for at least 1 week before hand, we couldn't afford this... so we were thinking of not gong aswell till a friend told me about a caravan park right in the heart of Shepparton that was taking bookings at reasonable prices... " Stray Leaves Caravan Park"

We have since booked there but I can fully understand the fustration of the rest of the BMX community who are yet to obtain accomodation...

Thanks for the info, I just phoned for a booking, all cabins are booked now. However I did book a powered site for 9 nites 2A 2K for $200. way way cheaper than the other caravan parks listed. (200 would only cover 2 nites accommodation) I've heard the weather should be still quite warm, so am taking the chance.
