Why do they do this, i'll tell you why, because some people feel the need to justify their existence. They like to say that they brought about this change even if it doesn't work near as well or effective as the original format.

I agree, Ashmore went off without a hitch and everyone came away saying what a great event.

But hey lets re-invent the wheel.

I'm going into it with an open mind, but if the atmosphere isn't there and it is quite obviously a failed attempt to fix something that just isn't broken, the powers that be will hear about it far and wide....guaranteed.
4  New school racing / New school racing / Re: NEW DATE FOR HINTERLAND on: May 26, 2010, 01:38:12 PM
Exactly...... If you have an 11year old do you go to Hinterland and contest the Dynamite series or do you go to Casino and have a go at making the test team. If you have already dropped a round and thought I'll just do every event from here on in, the decision is even harder. There is not one event on in the South East for these two weeks so why on earth would you pick this date to coincide with another event.

Don't bother even looking, if the truth be known BMXA has already booked out every cabin, hotel, motel, self contained, B&B and backpackers in the region.......

I couldn't agree more secret squirrel, their having their very own little think tank trying to work out how they can push this through. I thought that the BMXQ State Committee was there to:- be the voice of the members and to make decisions on our behalf.
              - to act in the best interests of their members.

From what I can see this is clearly not the case as the members already voted this motion down not more then twelve months ago. It seems that there are people who are clearly pushing their own agenda and to hell with what the majority want.

If they are successful it will be the few that have overridden the many.

I recall a recent post where riders were angry that some of  those that competed in the probikx didn't follow on to compete in the ACT's. They were ordered not to even though some wanted to.

I've also heard the same B.S. that they want to have it as an open event in order to improve the quality and participation of the event. I know a lot of riders that really look forward to the Qld's as they are right on the fringe of making the final and claiming a state plate. Making that final is a huge achievement for them,do we really want to take that away from them? I can understand other states and territories opening their events in order to bring in the numbers but here in Qld I think you would all agree that we definately have the quantity and the quality.

I agree that if you want to race the best in the country then it stands to reason that you will continue on to the Aussies. For the committed riders we already have probikx, champbikx, Act's,Vic's and N.Z. KEEP THE QLD'S FOR STATE RIDERS!!!!!!!!

Somehow this just reeks of BMXA. Does this benefit them in someway. Does anybody know?
9  General Category / General discussion / Re: WARNING- Anyone who attended Yandina- Lime health risk on: March 09, 2010, 02:54:33 PM
Last post as this has just become ridiculous.

My childs bike was damaged by what was used on the track...end of story.

I, like everyone else do not expect any compensation, far from it.

All anyone wanted was for responsibilty to be taken and for the track to be fixed properly.

I am quite happy for my children to ride there next month as long as it is fixed....properly.

Sorry to hear that you don't support the local industry. That is one of the resons that we now have Don from Oxley Cycles sponsoring the local shootout and not Tony from DK bikes. They had to shut down the bmx side of advance traders, as I recall.

p.s all I see is your username as well.......

Bigkid...... sorry to burst your bubble but the painted surface on my sons bike disappeared before my eyes as it was being cleaned following Yandinas open day.

The chrome on the profile hub is distroyed and is now spot rusting.

Fact..... Both items 6mths old and in perfect condition
Fact.....Price to replace items at current Aust. bike shop prices (frame $600. Hub $349-$399-) , cost to paint or powder coat fame and decal kit $125-$200.
Fact..... Would anyone buy either of these items from me (never in a million years).

Therefore if I cannot sell these parts due to the damage that has occured then I would be correct in saying that they are worthless...... would'nt I.

In your eyes if there are no problems with using this product, why is there a need to rip from the track?

I've heard Cairns but it would be good if its the new supercross track in Brisvegas.

For those travelling from Perth whats closer Cairns or............. Pietermaritzburg  lol..

Hey Issme, you sound like some sought of professional whinger to me.

A lot of the issues that you seem to have brought up are not even closely associated with this topic.

Seems to have got under your skin more than it did the people that were actually there.

Good to see....... Cheesy

From Qld, and after all the hype and going to the Worlds we were looking forward to something great after last years disappointment in Perth. Is that definately the finished product or will they make some changes before May?
14  General Category / General discussion / Re: WARNING- Anyone who attended Yandina- Lime health risk on: March 03, 2010, 11:42:30 AM
Yes, it is that bad(read wolfy's experience and data on the stuff again). It is banned from sporting fields for a reason. When used for line marking players found that it would burn their skin if they came in contact with it. The reason it keeps popping up is due to inexperienced people not knowing what it is capable of, or in order to keep costs down. It is far cheaper to throw lime into the berm rather than pay for a quality topcoat to go on the track.

In response to bmxican, it was our childs bike that received significant damage ( 6mth old frame and wheel replacement $600 & $500 alone). I endeavoured to clean the bike down immediately after it came off the track. Armed with just a bucket of water, I was amazed at why what appeared to be just mud wouldn't wash off. 2+ hours of driving to get home had sealed the bikes fate. What I didn't know until 10mins after arriving was that some bright spark had put lime into the mix ( visible  metal components showing signs of deterioration).

So what is that they say.......LIVE AND LEARN......
15  General Category / General discussion / Re: WARNING- Anyone who attended Yandina- Lime health risk on: March 01, 2010, 09:29:07 PM
What is of some concern now is, who is using the track? It's okay for those who are aware of just what has been put on the track(most members of BMX Sth Qld), but is it possible for anyone to simply throw their bike over the fence and ride the track. Google the effects of what lime can do, either wet or dry. Skin irritations and burning, respiratory effects and possible permanent eye damage just to name a few.

I don't think that the mother seen rushing to get a hose when her small child was covered in the stuff was in a hurry to give him a drink. I bet he was complaining that his skin was burning.

The track needs to be cleaned up immediately.

At the very least signage warning people that there is lime on the track and what it can do to both them and their bikes.
