Vroom: congrats for the sons 3rd in sleepy, slow SA.

As mentioned previously the cost of running a club is always on the increase. Most clubs should charge what they want, as most are doing it alone.

However,
1) Charge more, upgrade facilities, loose riders, long term attract more riders due to up to date facilities and track.
2) Charge less, slow upgrade, keep some riders, but loose riders to other tracks, as your club and track stagnates.

Grants are available, but the training and gate donations comes in very, very handy.

Charge what you want, provide an excellent up to date changing track, people get used to the cost and more riders want to ride it. Hence more cash coming into the club.

If the States supported the clubs more then maybe the clubs would keep the training and racing costs to a min.

Some State Assns just walk over some clubs when they run a series, round or states (as they are on the clubs race day) and don't compensate the club with a cut of the noms.
The old excuse of "...but you get the Canteen takings" is a long gone old school copout weak argument.

Got frustrated listening  to it after Colin W smoothness.
But, hey have to start somewhere and at least he's having a go.

Noteworthy: there were around 5 other high calibre identifiable commentators I identified from other states floating around.

No haven’t heard anything re 2013 states. Normally expressions of interest are sent out to the clubs around now. announcement made after 2011 states.
Are you coming to sleepy backwards Adelaide?

LEWIS:
You've been left in the dark by your Assn. Amazes me that we (up here) hear what's going down there before you do.
Maybe there is a knot in the string line.
Flying past backwards "boring tracks" Adelaide to Mt Gambier, to get some time on that  Pro Straight, why stop in Adelaide??

Bottom line: decision has disadvantaged SA riders and therefore they have missed the opportunity for major leadup race time on the Aussies track.
God forbid is this occurred in QLD/NSW.....  heads would roll.

Maybe they should have liaised with their experienced BMX State Coach first.
As he would draw on the wealth of personal rider experience to give a logical rider based decision to give to the committee.

PSYKOPATH:
Agree partly, financial also as I gather since the clubs don't get sweet diddly money from the Assn for holding your States and State Series.
Why would you bother ... keep the Assn out of the money tin.
As a state as a whole competing a Nats chasing plates, rider time on a Nats track is very important.
....."you wonder why SA riders get shut down, freeze up and spat out of the pack when they hit up a NATS."

Yeah practice done, and a smashing track Wink, I'll send ya a few photos after Sundays racing to show how tracks that are technical and have Pro Straights should look like Grin

Speaking of which,  heard a little female birdie up here: spouting her mouth off about your titles this year.

Quote her as saying...
THE DECISION WAS A MISTAKE
by the board and .."should have been at the Mt and not at the Cross, now are saving face, back pedelling, by giving the 2013 States to the Mt......a year too late."

Wow if that's true, what a can of worms that opens.Undecided

Hear anything down there Mr Lewis, or are your members kept in the dark??

BMXA make the rules re qualifying for Nationals.
BMXA have got nuthn to do with it, the State Assn has made that decision on the qualifying period for the Nats, not BMXA!! Why blame them??

They still trying to get a rat for the tredmill to power their commodore 64 computers?
Goes to show how sloooow or slack your little Assn is for change!!

Psykopath: respect for the riders, they are the best of the Aussies, Brian and Sam are the nicest, most talented riders around, however, the state didn't "probably" make the riders, the riders made themselves!!

Let's have a look at the South Australian entry to the Nats.

To qualifying for the Nationals, you have to do a State Titles the year before, but then there is a states titles before the Nationals you just qualified for, but that States is for the Nationals the year after, even though it’s before the one you qualified for, the year before.
Confused, I think their Association is too....

How about this as a fantastic idea.

States in the same year, just before the Nationals. "WOW"

TEA Tree Gully BMX Club has made a desperate plea to the community to support the club in the wake of its dwindling membership and lack of volunteers.

Why dosn't the state Association gets of its
ass

28  International BMX racing / World championships / Re: Womens Cruiser Classes from 2012 on: December 01, 2011, 08:16:40 AM
BMXA take head.
If you follow what the UCI have done, and adopt this into the Ausse and state tiles, you will have a back lash.
Not only from those women in the sport but from the men in the sport also.
Don't kick the local family riders in the teeth.
