Both great tracks and I've enjoyed riding them both across the last few years minus the ice rinks you guys call turns. Get them bad girls sealed (yes, all 17 of them) for two top notch, super fast tracks!
Edit: Yes I know dirt turns are heritage etc but this is 2013 and sealed turns are the way the sport has headed! |

...We asked Ms Gaudry if prize money equivalency could happen by next year's nationals, so that this reporter's nine-year-old daughter wouldn't say "hey Dad, that's not fair" as she watched a replay of the BMX Nationals on telly...
To me this smells like an inside job from someone within the BMX fraternity, clearly not happy with the situation, using their powers as a journo to express her opinion publicly.
One would hope this isn't the case. |

BMXBandit, my apologies in over reacting and misinterpreting you.
Some good points being raised. The first jump at Sleeman is definitely big and unforgiving.
Matt the problem with the "race Challenge if you're not comfortable jumping" is that a lot of these girls have raced the whole national season in Junior Elite on 'normal' tracks, or even just one round. Having scored a single UCI point, they are then unable to relegate back to Challenge for the National Titles. |

RicerRacer:
You ignorant clown.
Junior Women (total of 8 registered):
8th: Esther Woodward: Sent first double on the Wed Night Pre Titles, came up short, fractured her ankle - unable to compete.
7th: Ashleigh Gunn: Sent first double also on the Wednesday I believe (could have been Thursday's Continental Championships), cased, over the bars, knocked herself clean out - unable to/ruled out of competition.
6: Airlie Gooden: Looped out on last straight in practice on the Saturday morning, landed flat on her back, fractured T7 & T9 vertebrae.
You think these athletes are not worthy of receiving a ranking? They all entered Jnr Women long before entry cut off with no real knowledge/care of total numbers for the class, nor control of it. They all showed, registered, rode AND competed earlier in the week, giving their best, but unfortunately crashed out.
And you think they don't deserve a ranking? Ha!
And BMXbandit I'll be sure to let these girls know that you are comparing their amazing efforts to "playing the clowns at the local show." |

BMXerMum,
By completing registration earlier in the week, they were eligible to be ranked. Given the low numbers, all entrants received a national plate (8 entrants). |

...A national facility must also consider spectating, parking, amenities etc. Mt Gambier got gold stars in all these areas. A number of families who had attended the last few Worlds were amazed by Mt Gambier. All well and good except for the fact that its five hours from anywhere.

International BMX racing / BMX racing at the Olympics / Re: Watching the racing????

Its become apparent that Channel 9′s coverage of the Olympics has been questionable at best, and that the BMX won’t be telecast on free-to-air TV. For those that have Foxtel, no dramas, but what about those that don’t? Well, you’re in luck!
After doing some research, there appears to be a few websites on the internet that are streaming the Olympics live. Whether they are doing it legally or not is yet to be seen, but either way, there are live streams available.
So for those without Foxtel, you are not without hope! A couple of the links below are advertising that they will be streaming the BMX live. The quality may not be the best in the world, but for those without access to Foxtel, it sure is better than nothing.
And for those that are a little tech savvy, if your PC/laptop has a HDMI out option, you can easily connect it to your TV, enable full screen on the web stream, and voila! Olympic BMX streaming live on your big screen!
Check out the below link and get ready to cheer our guys on, live!

As a cross reference, WA introduced them six weeks before the first Super Series (state round) of the 2011/12 calendar season last August/September, which seen a bit of an uproar due to the announcement being made so close to the start of the season.
Everything smoothed out though and now it all works a treat, and the additional data offered by transponders gives the WA BMX community something back for their investment. (After each event BMXWA posts full results including lap times, as well as other reports such as fastest 50 laps, fastest 50 riders etc).
BMXWA charge $135 for the unit or $10 per event to hire. For every event you hire, half goes towards your purchase of the unit. Ie hire a transponder five times at $10 a round, and you will have $25 taken off of the price of the unit when you choose to purchase one outright.
I think its pretty fair but as always you can never please everyone. |
