The idea for deadman finals is to make the last moto for everyone to be a final, not just an extra moto. It makes for better riding all round. As in, everyone has to try and make the final. Crash Bandicoot is right in that if only 3 riders they all remain, but the last race for them is still a final. It makes it more enjoyable than watching people slow down cause they have already won the first 3 motos, so they dont need to race to win. Even if only 4 in race, they all race fast in all motos so they are not the one to be dropped. Its great for the spectators too, knowing that every race come finals will be how they come across the line. Micki |

BMXQ wouldnt have to offer Point 3 if they didnt have Point 4. If they left out State Titles closed, the riders that arent as experienced may have a chance to do ok. When you open it up, realistically, only those that think they will plate will travel to Queensland. You wouldnt get a new rider coming over from WA to try win a plate. There will only be a few numbers in each age group(those that can make the final) make the trek, but the significance of those few will be huge. If they take away Qld plate. I dont think novice should be offered. This isnt a shoot out series. It's a State Titles. I think this event should hold a bit more prestige, dont you? The only way to make it fair for the newer riders is to keep it CLOSED not offer novice. Come on BMXQ. You make your way up through the ranks from novice in shootout and then maybe expert in the South Qlds, then you race the big one. As i said before, this is not an openday/shootout series so give the State Titles the prestige they deserve. I strongly believe novice has a place, and it a great idea for beginners, but a Statel titles is not the place. Pheeewwww. Just my opinion. Thanks.

Garry, Garry, Garry. Love your work. Keep stirring. Keeps this site entertaining, can't help but laugh. Are you sure you're from the Western Zone? ? Or maybe you're just a Westie? I don't think you are Kama, that's for sure. But COOL AS ICE sounds a lot like Kama. Open our state titles? I don't think so.

Sprockets are ruled by the same federal sporting body that governs all kids sports in Australia. BMX are one of the lucky sports when it comes to these rules. Our son plays rugby league and this year (u11) is the first year he has been scored. The kids come off the field and know who has won, but because of the same sporting rules as sprockets, the score can not even be put on the scoreboard. No records kept. They train every Mon and Wed and play on Saturday just like the older guys, but there isn't any glory at the end of the season. NO Semi, no Grand Final victory. No undefeated for the season. No best forward/back etc. Soccer and AFL are the same. BMXers are the lucky ones. Mums, Dads and sisters cant play footy as a family. A game is over in under an hour and everyone goes home. We dont sit around at footy for the day enjoying watching the whole family compete. There is only one reason why he pulled the boots on each week. Because he loves playing footy. Accolades or not. If the clubs dont abide by governing body rules they lose funding and the club folds. Simple.

You are right on all accounts. Both positives and negatives regarding Aussies. Damo Hoysted was the best commentator and the view from Kings park was unreal. Hope you took the kid through Kings Park and all the way to Synergy Park. Our young bloke made us take him and Damo's son back there the next day. The worse thing i came across at Aussies though, hands down, was dodgie Roger Campebell in his undies, then in a towel, then walking around Brigadoon in only his skins. Does that man own a pair of pants?

Congratulations to Steve Janssen for making his 10th Aussie final in a row. Everyone knows just how hard it is to make one let alone 10. Your a champ Stiffy. Well done.

BMXWA,
Due to business commitments we have left our flights until Tuesday, thinking that all track practice would be from Wednesday on. Would there be any possibilty for those people(with proof that they fly in on Tuesday lunch time) be able to get a roll around and sus the track out too. We understand that there is a number of hours allocated to extra practice times which we are not there for, but would appreciate that our children have the same opportunity as the others.
Thanks, Micki |

Hey #1 Dreamer,
It,s good to see you have picked all the south qld crew, including your boy Harry to clean up at the Aussies. Hope all riders go well over there. Saw KW playing footy today. He has grown another foot and is a big strong boy. It's a shame he wont be racing the Aussies, but lucky he can still race the worlds as he is current number 1W. Catch you at the track tonight. We would like to welcome everyone to the Nerang Open Day next Saturday March, 28th. Flyer can be found on the BMXQ website. Apparently it is the norm now to look everything up on the internet instead distributing flyers to the clubs. There is only a couple of open days in South Queensland before the Aussies, so we would love to see you all there. There will be a working bee this Sunday to get the track/club up and ready for the day. Thanks,
Micki |

Just wanted to let you all know what Kama has been up to tonight. I've read all the comments that you've written and just wanted to say that i have never found him to be the person you are making him out to be. Dont get me wrong, Kama is big enough and ugly enough to stick up for himself, but i'm going to give him a rap here anyway. If you really know Kama(and i understand that some of you dont and thats fair enough) you would know that most things he says are tongue in cheek. And he'll be the first to bag himself at times too. Well tonight at the Nerang club, there was a bunch of young riders (mostly new due to the Olympic exposure) who were all over him. They were all asking for autographs and getting their helmuts etc signed and Kama was more than happy to oblige. Rather than get annoyed at all the fuss, i think he actually really enjoys it. So yeh! I think there would be times when he sometimes might not think to much about the effect he might have when he says some off the cuff remark, but he sure makes up for it with his humour(when you get to know him better) and his generosity of his time to muck around with these kids. He's really not the bad guy you might think he is. Micki D |

Old Trophy Night
The Nerang BMX Club would like to extend an invitation to any riders who would like to join us on July 25th for our Friday night Clubbie. Instead of the usual ribbon you receive at the end of the night, we have decided to hand out old trophies. The Janssen family have donated a lot of trophies back to the club including state title trophies. What young rider wouldn't like to win one of Stevie Janssen's old trophies? And Maddi is one of our current world plate holders, so here is your opportunity to get your hands on one of these. You could end up with a trophy from one of our recent Nerang Nats or take home a bit of history with the old school trophies we have stored up in the clubhouse. Noms close at 7.15pm. Come join the fun. All welcome. |

Membersfirst,
I have enjoyed reading and catching up on how aussies are going in China. Sure, numbers have been a bit lower than past years, but this would have more to do with BMX not being a big sport over there. If you think about it, there is usually about 20 or more riders in each class from the host country. This would add substantially to race numbers in every age group. What is disappointing, is to hear you say things like, embarrassing, degradating, sorry, when discussing how you would feel or how other riders/parents should be feeling in this situation. And the part about your kid in a so called 4 pony w race, well, when only 2 teams play in a Grand Final is it any less a contest cause only two teams are in it? ? If you would truthfully throw your world plate into the Yanxi in fear of ridicule, then you are not as supportive of the sport as you make out. Some of your coments would be hurtful to those families who attended. Your entitled to your opinion, but may be next time tell your mates or next door neighbour, but don't write it on a forum for all to see. |
