Melbourne early 80's
« on: December 17, 2008, 11:10:33 PM »

A while back , I scanned a few old favorites and posted them on vintagebmx.com. Marty Winchester kindly offered to scan all my old school pics and put them on disc , thanks Marty ! He also put names to some of the riders . I thought you guys might be interested in seeing them too. All are from Melbourne , roughly '82.

From a Frankston race...
Jamie Hales , Ricci Justice....

Pat Dillon , Steve Holloway....

Tom Harding #5

Waverley Nationals , 82 was it ?

Jamie hales , Ricci Justice.

Wayne Macintosh

Phil Billinghurst #966. I used to ride with Phil a bit , funny guy Smiley

Steve Holloway #1 , John Cowling #53 ?

A few of Andy Robinson at the old Knox track

Andy and Jamie Shebubakar

Jamie Shebubakar tucked

Steve O'Brien at Knox

Tim Lowe at Knox , this was the day Stu Thomsen dropped in for a visit ! Unfortunately he didn't ride , but he presented me with my 1st place trophy 16 class Cheesy I also got a pad signed. It's long gone , still got the trophy but. (why the hell didn't I get any pics of Stu !?)

From Parkdale bowl.
Jive..

Steve Cassap

Steve Munyard

One of the locals , can't remember his name. This wasn't an aerial , jumping out of the bowl to bail ! Smiley

and finally , yours truly at Ringwood

Thanks for the pics Pinky - those Parkdale shots bring back some memories. That was a serious bowl, I rode there a lot in 82 - 83. Wish I still had my pics from those days.

Dugga - Theres a very good chance that we met back then !

Mark - I think 8X was a Mac Cycles club member , if it's the guy I think it is , I used to ride with him at the old Knox track as well. His name escapes me though.

Fletch - Wow , I heard about Jive but didn't know John had passed away. RIP John.  Undecided

Edit: Search results just in from my brain , 8X is John Pearson , he was on a Supergoose.

Wow Pinky lots of memories there, tight quicksilver shorts, white socks with slip on vans.

Gee I was wondering the other day about John Cowling the guy was pure power. Great photos of Andy Robinson I did not often get past that Pro Sight bike of his but use to battle with Phil Billinghurst, yes you are right he use to make me laugh in the pits.

Steve Munyard my future bro in law still races road/mtb cross country and downhill and pulls out his BMX now and again.

Hey Ollos , I also race downhill and caught up with Steve a few years back , we hadn't seen eachother since the bmx days. Since then I've seen him and Jane at mtb races regularly , although this season I noticed he's not racing DH. Me neither , recovering from a collarbone ! Hope to catch up with them again soon. Probably best not to tell him I posted the tight shorts pics on the net !  Grin

Holy moly ! Hows it going Jamie ? Sorry about the mis spelling , its been a long time ! You probably don't remember me , I used to hang at Knox mostly , rode with Tim , Tom and Andy a bit as well as the other local crew.

I remember going with you and your brother to some trails near your house in Wantirna , about the same time I took those pics.

Still pedalling something mate ?

Cheers

Tony

Set up and ran the NBA.
