Re: News Articles - Samantha Cools retires from competitive BMX racing
« Reply #151 on: June 21, 2011, 12:27:09 PM »

Airdrie's welll-liked Olympian Samantha Cools has decided to hang up her helmet for good.  In a release on their webpage late last night, the Canadian Cycling Association wished Cools all the best as she announced her retirement from competitive BMX racing.

The 2008 Olympian made history by becoming the first Canadian BMX racer to be chosen to ride in the Olympics.  Making it to the finals in Beijing, Cools finished seventh after a first straight crash left her trailing the race.  Cools was a Canadian medal hopeful in 2008 and was the incumbent to represent Canada in 2012 at the London Olympic Games.

WHILE his brother Jared is in Switzerland chasing gold at the Mountain Biking World Championship, Nathan Graves is back in Toowoomba preparing for an overseas trip of his own.

After backing up his 2010 silver medal in the BMX National championships with a bronze in the masters classification at the 2011 Australian titles, Graves has finally decided to test the waters in the United States.

THE site of Warrnambool’s new world-class BMX track was cleared for development on the weekend.
Warrnambool BMX Club members removed trees and cleared the site for the track at Jetty Flat Reserve, with Warrnambool City Council set to begin construction works in February.
