So does this indicate that the 2012 QLD Titles will not be at Sleeman? http://bmxq.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=378&catid=4&Itemid=112012 State Titles Expression of Interest Friday, 01 July 2011 17:16 | Written by BMXQ Admin To All Clubs from Sarina to Weipa, BMX Queensland is inviting all clubs from Sarina to Weipa to submit their expression of interest to host the 2012 State Championships. The Championships will be held on the 25th – 30th September 2012. At this stage please send your expression of interest only to the BMX Queensland office by the 15th July 2011. We will then request each club that submitted an interest to then submit a proposal addressing the each point as per the BMXQ event management policy by the 5th August 2011. If we receive no responses to the requests for expression of interest we will then open it up to the remainder of the State

Judging by that criteria my guess would be Townsville, I heard they are about to make changes to their track and they are a very proactive club.
I am unsure of the criteria required to hold a State Title meet these days when it comes to start hill size etc but last time we were in Townsville their start gate was still dead flat....and there is very limited area for spectating (not sure if this has changed?). You need a get up and go committee to even consider holding an event like the States and from what I understand Townsville Club does not even have a President Interesting BMXQ appear to be sticking with the Zone rotation thing.....though it would have gone to Sleeman for sure!

And this is the problem with BMX in Australia. You have a world class venue and it doesn’t get used. Lets continue to have state and Aussie titles in the middle of nowhere. How can the sport grow when you don’t use and promote these types of venues that tracks like chandler provide? The next Australian F1GP will be held at the Warwick race way. I can hear the sponsorship dollars coming in now. Alian555 I think it is time for a new beginning
Totally agree with all of the above .... the venue hasn't been used for weeks. A lot of people, us included would like to use Chandler on a weekly basis. And just to stir the pot a bit more apparently another world class supercross track is going to be built in SE Qld, When the Reedy Creek Motocross track on the Gold Coast is shut down (on account of noise) a BMX supercross track will take its place. Actually it would be an excellent venue, a lot of open space and a natural arena. I doubt it will happen though, if the Chandler track doesn't get used why would anyone spend money building another world class track only 70k away.
