Track is looking good, nice water jump in one of the last pictures, very old school. Once it is complete who would pay for the upkeep and who would do the maintanence etc.
Cheers

I may be wrong but its my understanding that it is owned and operated by the QLD goverment/sleeman complex who in turn are responsible for the ongoing upkeep and maintenance
and will be available for hire to all clubs for a price to be announced as long as they can provide accredited officials

cheers Robbie

So does this indicate that the 2012 QLD Titles will not be at Sleeman?

Judging by that criteria my guess would be Townsville, I heard they are about to make changes to their track and they are a very proactive club.

probably wont be sleeman because if it is held by a club it dont cost bmxq nothing if  held  at sleeman  they might have to spend a few dollars cant see that .

I am unsure of the criteria required to hold a State Title meet these days when it comes to start hill size etc but last time we were in Townsville their start gate was still dead flat....and there is very limited area for spectating (not sure if this has changed?).  You need a get up and go committee to even consider holding an event like the States and from what I understand Townsville Club does not even have a President  Undecided

Interesting BMXQ appear to be sticking with the Zone rotation thing.....though it would have gone to Sleeman for sure!

Mmm maybe i better put my room at the Conrad treasury casino on hold for next year. Who runs Sleeman, has anyone heard if any clubs or riders are using it, will it become a white elephant, when is the next race meeting there?

And this is the problem with BMX in Australia. You have a world class venue and it doesn’t get used. Lets continue to have state and Aussie titles in the middle of nowhere. How can the sport grow when you don’t use and promote these types of venues that tracks like chandler provide? The next Australian F1GP will be held at the Warwick race way. I can hear the sponsorship dollars coming in now.

Totally agree with all of the above .... the venue hasn't been used for weeks. A lot of people, us included would like to use Chandler on a weekly basis.

And just to stir the pot a bit more apparently another world class supercross track is going to be built in SE Qld,
When the Reedy Creek Motocross track on the Gold Coast is shut down (on account of noise) a BMX supercross track will take its place. Actually it would be an excellent venue, a lot of open space and a natural arena.

Sad I doubt it will happen though, if the Chandler track doesn't get used why would anyone spend money building another world class track only 70k away.

when we designed the changes at the hinterland club , the title events was our planning ..high starthill ten meter first straight all others five or more ..if races like this goes to sleemans there will be no need  for clubs doing these upgrades . at over $50.000 spent so far i hope we can still apply and have a good chance of running these events
