Pushy parents who want to live their lives through their kids.
Just have a look over at the other posts about who will win the QLD State Titles...

Whatever happens to keep kids in the sport in my opinion it needs to start with the grass roots of the sport because without the up and coming kids there will be no pro riders in years to come who is going to go and watch the sport and hopefully get their kids involved then. just my 2c worth.

Down in little outback SA, is that today...... you can count the PROS there on one hand.
Running a 14+ to make a class ...... disappointing.

Why is that SA??

there is definately a problem in Vic.
There are more kids than ever leaving, including some experienced/skilled riders.
it will be more evident in years to come at elite level.
I'm guessing that a change/changes that have happened in the last few years have influenced the drop out rate.
best identify the problem , fix the problem and monitor the outcome to reverse the trend.

your right on the money there Hepp alot of very talented riders lost here in Vic!!!!

We use to race every meeting, but nowadays we pick and choose.

We live on the edge of a lake that has been near empty for the last 15 yrs, now its full again my boys seem to enjoy fishing and boating over bmx.

It costs us min $200 per weekend of bmx, fishing and boating maybe $50, so I know what I would rather do most weekends.

We pay the money and they make their choices.

Junior (only in weight and age these days- same height) and I moved across to MTB enduro racing a year or two ago from BMX (although still enjoy gates and the odd clubby).

Interesting the increasing number we see from BMX days (dads, offspring and more mums) we see at successive events.

Hmmmmm!
