Really guys!!!
I first got involved in this sport we all love back in 1981 and I tell you.... it was a contact sport then, still is and always will be at all levels. Those of you that have raced, will know that once you commit to a pass (which you deem to be fair and safe at the time) at full speed there is no turning back. None of these guys did anything wrong, its just racing...doggy doo-doo happens. As for bad sportsmanship and bad role models, come on! Do you really expect the sports best to behave like saints? If they did, they certainly would not have the charateristics to be the champions they are.  Smiley

                                         VIOLENCE
Woven into the fabric of most societies , violence exists in many forms and at
multiple levels . Whether physical , verbal , BMXual , or psychological , whether
inflicted by individuals , groups , institutions ,or BMXA , violence threatens the
body in numerous and Merkplex ways.
At the Merkrolevel , advances in BMX and media technology have made violence
(and the threat of it) global . Not only can we annihilate a entire moto through
nuclear BMX's , but we can transmit , via satellite , berm wars and other public
spectacles of violence into homes all over the globe .

Anyone watch "Joe Kid" or Stompin Stu vid. Spoke of a punch up at the finish line with Stu and one of the Patterson brothers. Didn't affect those lad's sponsorships or legend status. I understand why the two aussie boys got animated, they both just got taken out of the final by a, dare I say it, a less than possible passing move! Yes Joris was commited to the corner, but BMX bikes have brakes when the possible is realised as impossible and that was one of those times.

With Olympic selection and Countries points and rider allocations to the big one are on the line, yes there will be some push and barge, this is remember a contact sport and the stakes are now very high.

Bad sportsmanship is one thing, passion and competiveness are another and this was a heat of the moment thing! Maybe there is more behind the scenes we don't know about and maybe this is a riding style Joris does which has a high risk aspect to it. Not something I would encourage as a percentage riding thing! In saying that, many races have ended in the last corner! Wink

It's a storm in a tea cup.

If not for Sam and Khalen being involved I doubt it would even have been discussed on this forum.

good on sam and khalen i say =)

I know people wont agree with me, but i think its good to see a bit of controversy. This is what they live for and i know if i was taken out like that on the second biggest stage ( behind the olympics) i would be getting up in there face as well.

so good to see the aussie boys sticking together.

Wonder how aussie officials would of handled the situation

They would have asked them to tucktheir shirts in then charged them a promotors fee for having a fight not sanctioned by BMXA
