i didnt see any thing wrong with the move from Joris. i have seen a lot worse,!!!. its just not a real good look from the aussie boys, yes the heat of the moment can bring the worst out in people. Joris was staying in the room across from me at the worlds and he is a real nice guy and had time to talk to any one ( as a side note i didnt see the Aus HPP team apart from the the track). i dont think there is room in this sport for name calling though. i guess the French are producing some good riders and the aussies may be feeling the heat.

I not quite sure about that. If you look at the footage and remove both KY & SW the frenchman would have overshot the berm and ended up in the carpark. Unfortunately some riders will attempt suicide missions and I am more concerned how this style of riding will impact on kids watching it, than the altercation which took place after. I know that the stakes at this level are much higher but as a club president I have had to speak to older riders regarding these types of moves which have about a 95% chance of taking other riders out. They are not in the spirit of our sport so should not be accepted. If a coach puts these moves into a riders head they obviously got their coaching accreditation for a cereal box. As with many World Champs the following year comes with the curse of below par results which often leads to stupid moves as we see here in an attempt to living up to the rainbow stripes.

I don't believe there was anything in that apart from some damaged Aussie pride. Joris was committed and unfortunately for all it failed. This is the pointy end and margin for error is next to nothing.

Hernie i like your way of thinking, i vote for you to be  head offical as a lot need to be trained because most dont see any thing that happens on the track. and before all the do gooders get on their high horse about bagging officals, i took up the role of an a offical only to be stabbed in the back and now i dont want anything to do with the sport at the local level.
did KY have an $82.00 fine imposed for his actions?

unfortunately some people just expect their kids to behave like that... and then they get bigger with bigger attitude.. No disrespect to Sam and KY's abilities but they dont inspire the future "olympic spirit" that kids should see on a mass media avenue.

Maybe should have went a bit further and gone the biff. Might have made prime tv and more coverage for BMX, UCI throws down a few thousand dollars fine to the riders sponsors and pow mega press. Are you telling me junior rugby league numbers have dropped since Manly/Storm biff.
Cheers

oh, we are all rather delicate all of a sudden... very moral majority!

havn't you guys ever caught one of the greatest sports leagues on the planet, NHL ice hockey; tempers flare, the gloves get dropped, the boys go at it toe to toe, bit of claret, then they break it up, throw them in the sin bin to cool down, drop the puck and play hockey!
been going on for as long as i can remember. Never heard of sponsors bailing out, or a drop in juniors wanting to take up the sport..

some of these posts say more about the people writing them than they do about the incident, but l'll leave it at that....

Bad behaviour is bad behaviour - just because it happens in others sports it should not be condoned.

I was pleased to read that the boys apologised for their heat of the moment outburst - too bad that wasn't made as public

Would we have seen this reaction 10 or 20 years ago?  Is there more pressure now on riders due to Olympic selection?

The difference is Pete is that it is an expected occurance for that to happen in Ice Hockey not bmx....

and you are correct.. maybe the writers of certain comments say what they condone. Bad sportsmanship has no room in any sport and mouthing off like a fool just proves the point that you are a fool.
