Is Bmx in the Commonwealth Games? Just thinking about the 2018 edition on the Gold Coast.

No, BMX wasn't included in the optional list of sports submitted as part of the Gold Coast's bid (in fact I don't think it is even on the list of Commonwealth Games Federation approved sports).

From the President of BMXA's report in 2010 Cycling Australia Annual Report
it was disclosed that BMX is likely to be included in the  Commonwealth Games.....

One can only hope that BMX makes the approved list of sports for the Commowealth Games Federation in time for inclusion in the 2018 games.

It certainly would be great for our aspiring pros to have an event of that size every 2 years instead of 4.

2011 BMXA Annual Report, Presidents report:

"BMX Australia is still in pursuit of moving the sport into the Commonwealth Games, which is being driven by Australia. Earlier this year we developed a very professional bid document showcasing the sport and the support received from other National BMX Associations. With this document we have moved this initiative to the next level. After the documents completion it was forwarded to Mike Hooper, the CEO of the Commonwealth Games Federation based in London. The feedback thus far
is that the bid document was well received, and at this stage I am still hoping for a positive outcome.

Gee it would be good for  BMXA to move the sport in any direction. At your next club night ask people what BMXA do or how many people are on the board or who the President is. How much money does BMXA have in the bank, where do they get it from and what do they spend it on. I know sprocket programs, hpp teams, anyone with some other hints.

Back on topic, it would be good to make BMX a sport at the Comm games. Look how much BMXA has driven the sport forward since the Olympics etc.
Cheers
