Looking forward to kicking off my year at Ashmore tomorrow. Looks like it won't be too hot thank goodness. (for those south of the border it has been hitting mid 30's all week)

I rode Ashmore gates on Tuesday night and the track is looking great. It was good to knock off some the rust that has accumulated during my injury inforced layoff.

Hope to see the same 400+ numbers from last year!

Great day at Ashmore yesterday. 427 entries and some really good hard racing right through the age groups. Weather was good all day and the canteen knocked out some first class hot chips ( so i am told).

See everyone at Ipswich in a week!

That was a great day at Ashmore, excellent racing and the motos went through fast considering the number of entries.
The absence of a stupid drawn out break helped, racing started at 3pm and was over by 8pm .... thats the way to run a meet. Every one left happy 

Noticed Jamie Gray won every moto by a large margin, he's going from strength to strength.

Hi everyone,  What is it about a Shootout that can pull 40 pro riders and total entries of +400.  Is it that there isn't a deadman final, or is it the Novis classes encouraging newer riders to compete??

And yes Jamie Gray is looking awesome ... hasn't lost a moto in the last three events he's competed in.

My only gripe is that two many are taking advantage of entering as a novice. two and three gates are common in a lot of age groups leaving one or small gates for the expert class.

Yes Jamie Gray does look very good in this field! The bloke coming second in points could not make it out of 1/4 finals at Nerang Pro/Champbix. I am impressed by the way Jamie is not backing off at all when he has a 20 metre lead!

Any word on the young lady who crashed into turn 2 in the 3rd last race of the day?

The young lady that crashed in the 2nd turn in the 3rd last race of the day and was one of my riders.

She is recovering well and hopes to being back on the bike asap.

She pretty tough.

Another great days racing up at Cooloola track for round 4 of the Oxley Cycles 2012 Southern Zone Shootout Series. 420 entries for the day. Very good considering most of the Gold Coasters had a 2.5 hour drive to get there. Plenty of people staying at the track or locally overnight.
Had a bit of rain during the day which made things interesting on the gate.
Hard luck to the kid that snapped his frame clean in two over the triple jump. I hope someone got it on video or photo!!

Forgot to mention that the previous weekend at Redlands was a shootout record of 470 entries. Well done to the Redlands club!

Round 5 of the 2012 Oxley Cycles Southern Zone Shootout Series at Logan yesterday! 450 entries, another great turnout. Some very good pro racing with 6 gates of men having a go.Jamie Gray was on fire again but i did notice a couple of people pushing him along. There were some gutsy moves being made around the bottom of turn 1, most of which came off without incident. Beautiful day with just a slight breeze to stop it becoming too hot.

Logan turned out an excellent track for the day. Fast and flowing with some awesome corners. Turn 2 was being called the Rollercoaster, or the Dipper, or the Big Dipper all day long. It was also lovely to be able to sit on a grassed viewing area.

The Double Points Round was announced as Redlands. Some will be happy and some won't. However, I like the double round as it encourages racing every round and not taking it easy in any race!

Will let you know when the points are up. Looking forward to the 6th and final Round up on the hill at Toowoomba. Don't forget we race Sunday for the final round and it is an early start to boot. Check BMXQ's website for details.

Looks like the drenching the south east of QLD has been getting has left us. The sun is out and drying everything up nicely!
