2012 ACT Titles Postponed

Not as if you showed up on the weekend with nobody there.
Its on nearly every bmx club website,facebook and I got a SMS this morning saying it was postponed.

At this stage it would be pretty hard to miss. I got my first message at 5:15 this morning. Social media is the fastest way too find out. If its good enough for politians to use it for announcements its good enough for BMX. Well done to BMXACT for the early announcement and in using the quickest and most used media out there.

Just spotted this on the BMXA website.

BMX Australia’s National Officiating Director is travelling to Canberra later today to inspect the track and complete a risk assessment. Only then will he be able to make an educated call as to whether or not the Champbikx Probikx event will be run on Friday. Further to this another track inspection and risk assessment will be completed on Friday to determine if racing can go ahead on Saturday.

Please note as soon as we have this information, we will update the BMXA website, Facebook and Twitter. Until we have the official word from our NOD, we are unable to provide you with any further information.

I got no idea, think about the expense that some have outlayed to travel from interstate, accommodation, hire car, annual leave etc. I hadn't planned on going, but its no where near as funny as Merkin8rs ramblings.

Yeah, real funny that Australia's 2nd largest event has been postponed due to rain after months of hard work getting things ready. Still people out working at the club today in the rain just in case the Champbikx does run.

Shows real guts to make a call like this and I know it was one the ACT did not want to have to make. Last night was a sleepless night for many on the ACT committee.

Hats off to those who had to make the decision  . All too many events in the past have been left it to the last minute to postpone even when all the weather info has been on hand for days. It is good to see a State Committee that looked at all the facts, Safety, Weather, Riders, Parking, Spectators, Volunteers and had the guts to make the only choice available. When it boils down to it no BMX event is more important than the safety of the riders, spectators or volunteers. The thing that doggy doo-doos me the most is if the UCI/CA choose to run Champbikx/Probikx its those ACT club/committee members who have to man the track and run it. They already deemed it to dangerous for the State Titles but they may have to do it anyway. They have spent weeks in the mud and rain already LET THEM REST

After reading a recent Facebook post from Luke M, I can see a different side to the argument....Would I be correct in thinking that if the UCi event is cancelled and UCI points can not be obtained it could affect the chances of AUS taking the full compliment of riders to the OLYMPICS...Bmxa officials would be mad not to try and run it... My Thoughts

Excuse my ignorance.....State titles called off due to crap weather, state of track, safety etc.... common sense approach thinks me..
Still may hold UCI event...what gives? It is still wet....No contingency plan for these disasters?

Sorry. A little confused.
So is there racing at Melba? Are the ACT's back on? Did some UCI stuff go down last night? Thought the track and surrounds were deemed unsafe?

Round 5 run this morning . Can be found under Past Results in Ezeventing as it is under yesterdays date . Round 6 just cancelled due to rain . There has been a number of crashes and injuries due to the very wet track . Might have something to do with why the Titles were postponed as it was deemed to dangerous. Lets force our top riders to ride as some may need UCI points but also at the risk of injury in an Olympic year on a track deemed unsafe.

Round 6

Round 6 was cancelled due to the bad weather and the track being unsafe. They went off Moto points and lap times from the last Moto.
I believe Brian Kirkham was first with Jamie Gray in second.
