We are all a bit quiet on this one...

What a great win!

Awesome result for Sam and for Oz BMX.....

Should be heaps of mainstream media coverage during the build up to the Olympics with Sam in the World Champs rainbow jersey.......

'We' need to convert general public interest following the Olympics into increased membership.

I mean the collective 'we', as in all the BMX community........
- individual club members, regional committes, State federations to National body

Clubs need to arrange Track Active days, supported by the State, to give access to novice riders to have a go at our Olympic sport.

We're all stake holders in BMX and will benefit from growing membership base.

I'm sure ProActive and Coca Cola are very pleased with Sams win too.

Cairns BMX has been very proactive over the last couple of years trying to highlight the sport to our public....we are a very rugby / soccer / hockey city so at times we struggle.

We found most success the year we hit every school fete....With over 20 schools in the area yes it took alot of our committee time and effort but the reward of over 80 new members througout that year showed the success.  We have tried open sport days but people tend to have already choosen their sport by this age.  Another idea is ask the day care centres to put a flyer in the kids mail pockets we have had riders as young as 3 come and give it a go - sprockets = siblings = mums and dads riding.

Just a few ideas as we have tried many.....BMX is a very word of mouth sport
