I may be mistaken but don't you need to upgrade a bmxa license to compete at worlds if they aren't in your home country?

No you dont, unless you are junior elite or elite but you do need to make sure your travel insurance covers the rider while competing, as your bmxa licence dosnt cover you.

Bmxa offer insurance only for international competition for $225 which covers you for travel and while your competing on the track.

Elite license is $380, valid for 14 days. Margaret Mills at BMXA/CA tells me the insurance that comes with this license covers everything.

International license is compulsory for Elites at World Championships etc.
