Vet Pro
« on: October 25, 2007, 09:47:58 AM »

Just a little question for all those 30+ guys out there.
Who is willing to race in a proper Vet Pro class , A 6 to 8 race series, metro and country mix,Get rid of Bruiser Cruiser, if you want to race for money you race pro if not you race age,no more of this inventing classes to suit a few. Jock organised a meeting for all 30+ riders at knox last year, there was over 30 riders at that meeting, where are they now to follow up on this.BMXV will not entertain this class in any serious fashion without the numbers attending. Just think about it every one in the same class to finally find out who is the fastest 30+ rider  in Victoria. It could be open wheel.
lets have some serious response and get this happening

I am in,
I think it would work as open wheel as there is not enough numbers for Vet 20" and Vet 24" and make it 6-8 race's state wide 3-4 metro/3-4 country.
We had vet pro at the state serie's this year, and it was only Wally and I where the only ones' that entered the whole serie's.
That was our chance to make BMXV see, that we are keen to have a class full time and have it offed at the state titles

i'll give it a go,

But we do need the nubers, I also entered vet pro at the state series at a couple of rounds but it didn't make enough numbers to make a class,

Me too, why 35+ James.By the sound of it you race 30/34, i'll give you 6or7 years and still give it a go. An alternative is to have an A and B final if 20+ riders enter on the day, to give some incentive to the 'James's'.
Any views.

Stuff this 35+ vet crap,  i'm 32 and cant wait to be flogged by Stamford, Wally etc, it will give me more incentive to train harder, And after coming back from a 13 year break i was in awe of the speed of you old buggers.

30 plus vet is the only way to go. The A and B final thing would be good as well.
Trev you and Simon would have to enter late or under a false name because as soon as the other wimps see that you 2 are entered they wont Shocked

But I will be there! in the C final I hope but the more the better, I'm sure most people would rather race in a couple of full gates rather than the same 4 guys all day - u would hope anyway.

Hope it gets going !

im a 30 -34 rider from Qld no good but would much prefer to ride in a class of 9 or more and miss the final then ride for points.

I think vet pro should be 35 +.

WHY- this opinion is drawn from racing in sth Qld regulaly. if you look at the 30-34 class rarely has a final.
35-39 class always has a final.
40-44 class always has a final
45 + class always has more than 30-34 class

my opinion is based on a club perspective to maximise entrys at events. I think all riders 30 + who no longer believe they can compete at the top level should start thinking that way.

now i think about it i reckon aussie entry would reflect the above age class figures.

I'll be in it trev. Every time there is a vet pro race on i will always enter it (provided i'm not out injured) because i believe in supporting a class that was pushed so hard for it's inception. Especially when clubs are willing to go out of there way to put money up for the class, i will bust my butt (and what ever else hits the ground) to make sure they get value for money.

Bring on Ando and Trev, not happy unless i'm trying to chase someone down. Don't like being in front, feels strange. Smiley Wink

Vet pro should only be open to those riders who supported the class at the Nationals

Hope you guys can get this going and maybe it will then spread to the rest of the country (I am in Sydney).
It should be 30+ just as the Nationals and Worlds and I believe it should be open to anyone who wants to ride it. None of this you must have ridden AA or A pro but not for a year blah blah blah.
If you want numbers you have to open it up.
I am just getting back into racing and I would love to ride this even if I get my but kicked for a while because this would be supporting the class and just having fun on the way.
Good luck fellas Grin

So if 30-34 do not get enough for a final, why not make you vet pro 30+ so that way your 30-34 get to race for final's, not points
I know I am just Victorian(mexican) but I think sth Qld have got it wrong. Or has the UCI and BMXA get the ruling wrong for Elite master's/Vet pro?Huh
