There have been a few Australian BMXers that have made a
name for themselves on an international level. Probably none more
so than Wade Bootes, due to his ability to switch between BMX
and MTB racing and compete on both at the highest level. Wade
is hanging up his Bootey suit to take up a coaching scholarship
with the Australian Sports Commission.
We would like to thank Wade for the memories (excluding the Bootey suit) and wish him luck in his future as a coach.

Soooo It's been about 4 months since I've done any kind of updates
to the BMXvideo website but hey I got some great videos that I'm
sure people will enjoy.
The 2007 Florida State Series Highlight video has been posted to the website. The video is roughly 40 minutes long and broken down into 12 sections.
This video was played at the awards ceremony at NOVA University.
Direct Link to the Florida Highlights Section
2007 FL Highlights Video
Sections of the video include
Part 1 has the intro and a few quick sponsor commercials, aswell as the Sarasota Qualifier highlights set to the song "Lights and Sounds"
Part 2 is the Orlando Qualifier section about 4 minutes long and set to "Tears Don't Fall" by Bullet for my Valentine.
Part 3 is the All Girls Section, for this one i used the song "Girlfriend" by Avril Levigneand it's a little over 3 minutes long
Part 4 is the Highsprings Qualifier which is the longest section of the video at 5 minutes. The song for this one is "Thunder" by ACC
Part 5 is all about the kids. We do a little kids section every year. This time I used "When I Grow Up" by the band Garbage
Part 6 is a tribute to the Pros. This part is somewhat funny at the beginning as I used a clip from the Movie Jerry McGuire where Tom Cruise says SHOW ME THE MONEY!!! very popular part and I'm sure people remember that scene.
Part 7 is the Cape Coral Qualifier section. This is my personal favorite. 2 years ago Cape Coral had a little drama as the race was cancelled due to rain but the rain stopped about 20 minutes after the cancellation and the Cape Coral volunteers were a bit upset. Needless to say there was no Cape Coral Section in that year's video, so this time I made sure Cape Coral was represented well. Song on this video is "RIDE" by the Lost Prophets.
Part 8 is the Championship Race section from West Palm (Okeeheelee) This is my second favorite section of the entire video. I used the song "When Your Stops Beating" by Plus 44. this section will definitely get your Heart Pumping.
Part 9 is the most popular section, the CRASH section. I don't think I need to say anything more about it.
Part 10 is a BONUS HIDDEN section on the DVD and it's called "RUBBIN IS RACIN". I used a clip from the movie Days of Thunder. A few crashes in this one and alot of Rubbin in the turns. Remember he didn't slam you, he didn't bump you, he didn't nudge you, he RUBBIN YOU, and RUBBIN SON is RACING!
Part 11 is a special Photo Slide Show. Rolf Bostrom is the official FloridaBMX photo guy and he always sends me tons of great photos. So I put the best of them together and used some music aswell.
Part 12 is the BEST OF 2007 and the credits. I picked the best crash, come from behind victory, last straight pull, lawn dart, and best race of the year. This was a new section never before done and I got great response so I will definitely be doing it again next year.
2007 Florida Highlights DVD is available for purchase from J&R bicycles
Well that's it the video was a huge success and everyone seemed to love it, so make sure to go check out the section.
Thanks to everyone that purchased the DVD at the event and I will be doing it all again next year.

Khalen Young returned to the US after wining the Australian
BMX championships to prepare for the world championships and the
UCI Supercross World Cup series. His first race was on this past
weekend at the Victoria International a UCI North American ranking
round in Victoria BC, CANADA. It was the first race held on the
brand new track that would host the 2007 world championships over
the 26th to 29th of July. Notch up another win for the Aussie
at the UCI Category 3 race meeting. The only events that have
a higher category are the UCI World Championships (Cat 1) and
the UCI Supercross World Cup (Cat 2).

by Adam Carey
Victorian BMXers headed to Sunbury for the 2nd round of Northern
Rivers on Sunday, The track was rolled and would have been fast
if it had not been for the 100km wind ( slight exaggeration they
were 99km) and it was good to see a great turn out with sprockets
and older blokes and everyone in between showing up.
In the juniors Nic Dobson was going unreal!!! He was carving up
the track and killing it. The Turner boys Bodi and Wade were riding
awesome as were Brandon Tahiko, Brandon May, Steven Geddi, Jacob
Jones etc. They were all showing there skills and letting the
pro's know what to be looking out for when they are 15 or 16.
The girls were going hard with the likes of Jade Parker and Erin
Anderson and old schooler FiFi Dobson. It was good to see a wide
range on talent in 19+ Brenton Clark and Colin Ironside were ripping
it out front and Brandon "Boxhead" Bullows was back
on his bike for a stylish third. Those boys will be pro before
you know it!
Vet pro was owned by bmxultra's very own Jamie Bullows along with
Trev Stamford who took it out, those boys were at it all day and
it was very enjoyable to watch. Finally the pro side of things,
Kyle Horton was killing it, this kid is young and fast showing
that even with a cold he could win a moto or two, he is one rider
to look out for in the next couple of years, another impressive
rider was Brock Tuckerman, winning all his moto's and riding very
consistently, and what else can you say but "frenchy"
Olivier Hourou was killing it in his usual style and grace, even
in 100km wind.
The final was TUCKERMAN, HOUROU, SLATTER, CAREY, HORTON, HASTINGS,
the sly underdog ROSS and MORGAN. The lanes were chosen and Hourou
had 1, Slatter 2, Carey 3 and Tuckerman 4. Those four guys were
the ones to watch along with Horton working that outside line.
The gate drops and Tuckerman, Slatter and Carey have the best
of it, Carey feels the lead is his and tries too hard over the
roller, Slatter shutting him down with some elbows. This gives
Tuckerman the lead. Slatter and Tuckerman go into the first turn
with Hourou and Carey just behind, Hourou rides Carey high and
Horton, Ross and Morgan dive under. Hourou goes to the point passing
Slatter and moving up on Tuckerman, Carey goes from one side of
the track to the other and works his way back into 5th by the
second turn. Down the third straight Hourou and Tuckerman are
side by side with Slatter not too far behind and Carey chasing
hard. Hourou brake checks Tuckerman and leaves him high and dry.
Hourou takes the win, Tuckerman second and Slatter beating Carey
by an inch at the line after riding him to the edge of the track.
That was the end of a brilliant windy day. It was great to see
the parents volunteering their time to be officials. It was also
great to see so many talented young up and coming riders. Watch
out for them at a track near you!!!

There are many optimists in the BMX community that have high
hopes that the Olympics will open up the sport of BMX to a whole
new generation. However realistically you can't expect that BMX
racing would get the same type of media coverage as to more traditional
events like track and field, swimming, the other cycling disciplines,
etc. To some BMX racing is more of a joke as an Olympic sport
than synchronized swimming.
In the early days of the sport there was huge media coverage, everywhere you looked there was BMX, but the media have a tendency to do that. They jump on the bandwagon, but once they have finished riding that wave that's it.
Granted there has been a little TV coverage over the past few years with the X-Games downhill BMX, world championships and the UCI Supercross World Cup series. But unless we see a big push for BMX in the next 12 months the sports debut at the Olympics will be captured only in highlight reels, providing the most spectacular crashes.
Will Australian press push the likes of Khalen Young and Luke Madill as the Grant Hackett and Ian Thorpe of BMX since the appeal of swimming seems to be fading with a string of retirements over the past couple of years?
If BMX racing is represented with the Supercross style track will the Olympics have an impact on the sport anyway? People will have a false picture of what has happened to BMX. Who is going to want to return to a sport they may have once competed in or encourage their children to try BMX racing when all they see is 30 foot gaps?
As BMXers we have greater control over the future of the sport. Imagine if you could bring a friend into BMX racing, imagine if everyone did. Membership would double. Forget the Olympics as a marketing tool for BMX, it will be fantastic to get any media coverage, but it's the grass roots that needs to grow to keep the sport going. It's your sport, it's your future, you can make a difference.

Double A Marketing press release
Round 8 of the 2007 NBL Elite Series took place this past weekend
on the West Coast in Prunedale, CA. One of the last chances for
the Pros to gain points towards the NBL year end title and the
UCI North American Chase, it was a big weekend for the guys. The
NBL title chase has been a good one this season With a few stand
out riders, but come towards end of the year, it looks like 5
riders are all bunched up with a shot at the title. The NBL National
at South Park will be the last event before the Grands and it
soul be very exciting. Here is how the BMXpros.com guys finished
up:
Kyle Bennett has had an incredible return from
his knee surgery as he has won a lot of races. Kyle had some catching
up to do if he wanted to have a shot at the NBL title, and his
performance at Prunedale was a fine indication of his determination
to recapture the NBL #1 Plate. On Saturday, Kyle won the stacked
Elite Class Main event and finishing 2nd in Elite Open. On Sunday,
Kyle backed up his win with a 2nd place in Elite Men's and Elite
Open. This puts Kyle right up toward the top of the standing,
still needed to add one more score. South Park will be a huge
weekend for Kyle on his quest for a NBL title. Kyle's sponsors
include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, Bombshell, www.bmxtraining.com,
Sun Rims, Shimano, UGP, Kenda, Thomson, S & M bars, ODI, ORP,
Powerbar, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Randy Stumpfhauser has always been a threat at
Prunedale for a win, and at the years NBL National, it was business
as usual for the old Stump Dog. On Sunday, Randy smoked the Elite
Men's main event, grabbing another huge win in the 2007 NBL National
Series. Randy now sits in the 5 man battle for the NBL title but
with a chance at both the NBL and ABA title, it will be a big
decision for him on what races to attend in the next few months.
Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI,
Tangent, Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, CTI Knee Braces,
OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Brandon Meadows has been on a streak of some
impressive results and Prunedale was no exception. On Saturday,
Brandon gathered up some more valuable UCI points with a 5th place
finish in the main event. Consistently in the main event, Brandon
has made the full return from what many said would be a career
ending injury and he looks to keep moving forward. Brandon's Sponsors
include Intense BMX, Socko Energy Drinks, SINZ Racing, THE Products,
Fly Racing, Shimano, Power Bar, Intense Tire Systems, Cyto Sport,
OGIO, Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com
Cristian Becerine has had a great NBL season
so far, as he currently leads the Pro title chase. Cristian was
looking to add some points this weekend, but an 8th and 5th in
Elite Pro didn't help his scores at all. Cristian has always done
well at South park and the Grands, so it will be an interesting
few events for him as he works towards his first NBL #1 Pro title.
Cristian's Sponsors include: Free Agent, Answer, Kenda, THE Products,
ODI, Sun Ringle, Shimano, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, OGIO, Oakley,
Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com
Joey Bradford is just plain fast and he wont
slow down anytime soon. Once again, Joey was unbeatable in the
Junior Elite Class, winning both days with some large margins.
On Sunday, Joey raced Elite Open as well and placed 5th. Looks
like Joey is getting real comfortable with the Elite men and a
few pros should start to worry when he makes the jump in age to
race Elite men. Joey’s sponsors include GT Bicycles, Fly
Racing, Oakley, Bombshell, THE Products, Sun Ringle, Kenda, SDG,
FSA, Sponsorhouse, ODI, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, Circle E, SRAM,
Kore, OGIO, Sirius, Pearl Izumi, joeybradford.com, and BMXpros.com

After a long wait Derrick Mellish will go under the knife today
at 7:30am QLD time.
It has been a long wait for him after he first tore it in October
2006. His last ride was track attack 2007 and cannot wait to get
back training and on the bike. He says “ I’m hoping
my first major race back will be the French Supercross race in
October then head to America for a few races”. The time
off has given him some time to work with his company flatlinebmx
“I think this time off will give me time to work on really
getting flatlinebmx out there and give me a break of racing to
get my head back in the right place”. We hope to see Derrick
back on the bike better than ever. Best of luck.

The month of May had finally rolled around and Australia's
largest BMX race meeting, the National Championships. The "Aussies"
were held on what is probably Australia's favourite track, Lake
Macquarie, which is located about 1.5-2 hours north of Sydney.
The Lake Macquarie track was in superb condition for the event.
It provided a challenge for riders of all levels and made for
close racing suiting both the technical rides and the power riders
equally. The weather was fantastic right through the week being
sunny and a warm 25-29C degrees (which is around 80-90F for our
international readers).
The block system, of breaking the racing up into smaller groups of classes, is a good concept if the intention is to allow riders and their families to get to see some of the attractions that the Lake Macquarie area had to offer, but it didn't quite work out that way. Let's just say that the system needs revising to minimise confusion and the time that a rider would be required at the track. Maybe run the blocks for practice and when the riders are warmed up from their laps get stuck into the racing and right through to finals. Then on to the next blocks.
With the Australian Championships being the only national race that determines rankings for the year there is always a lot of hype. Probably none more so than Khalen Young returning from a triumphant tour of the US and Europe topping the podium at the NBL Easter Classic in a start studded field Florida and then again at the UCI Supercross World Cup at Madrid, Spain. But the Aussies would be no one horse race, far from it. The guy who has caused a big upset in the elite class mountain biker Jarred Graves was flying. The reigning champion Kamakazi was looking for a repeat. The sentimental favourite Luke Madill was back in full swing after suffering a severe neck injury after a heavy fall in practice at the Australian Championships just a year earlier. Wade Bootes was written off by many leading up to the event, but everybody knows you can't write Wade off, not for a second. Jamie Gray's performance leading up to the event was up and down, despite being one of only two riders in the world to have been in the elite final at both of the last two world championships, he had a lot to prove. "Local" riders Billy Jolliffe and Daniel Johnstone both had the track dialed and could cause big upsets. We could go on for longer than it took to run the event to give you the whole run down, the point I am trying to get to is the elite field was stacked.
We can't forget the women's elite class. Krystal Cranfield, the 2006 Australian Champion, going head to head with Tanya Bailey and Melissa Mankowski who have been locked in a close points race through both the UCI and Pro Bikx series.
In the Elite Men's class some of the big names like Kamakazi, Brian Kirkham, Daniel Johnstone, Billy Jolliffe, Ryan J, Alex Cameron were out in the semis. The big surprise for the main was Mark Taylor. The rest of the field was made up with the likes of Madill, Young, Bootes, Scott Taylor, Gray, Robinson and Graves. When the gate dropped it was Young and Robinson on the inside with Graves coming out quick from the middle of the gate. Gray and Mark Taylor looked to have problems with their clips out of the gate. Young had the line for the first corner while Robinson and Graves connected sending them both high on the corner and allowing Bootes to slip into third with Madill and Scott Taylor in hot pursuit. Coming down the second straight Bootes was all over Young's back wheel. A couple of lengths behind were Madill and Scott Taylor battling it out for third. Pulling out of the second corner Young started to run away with the lead. Madill looked to nearly catch Bootes through the tight third straight rhythm section but had to settle for third, that's how they crossed the line. From 1st - 8th:Young, Bootes, Madill, Scott Taylor, Gray, Mark Taylor, Robinson then Graves.
In the elite women's final it was on for young and old. Bailey looked to have the edge on the gate followed closely by Mankowski and Cranfield with the rest bunched up behind them. By the second corner Bailey had pulled out to a convincing lead still followed by Mankowski and Cranfield looked to have dropped out of striking range but clearly in third. Down the third straight Bailey looked smooth but Mankowski was making up ground, and fast. Mankowski kept the pressure on right to the line, and just nearly got there, but Bailey hung on to the win by a narrow margin. Cranfield settled for third. Followed by Tanya Thiele, Nicole Callisto, Kylie Patroni and Kelly Percy.
The junior elite men's class was packed full of some very talented riders who are bound to make a huge impact in the not too distant future. Who would win the main would be anyone's guess. Especially after the dual national champ, Michael Vockenson was eliminated in the semi. Even Tom Siinmaa who was a finalist last year was knocked out in the quarter finals. When the gate dropped in the main though it was all the local boy Chris Westwood. He took the win in fine fashion over Dirk Winter, and Matt Willoughby who finished in second and third, followed by Steve Janssen, Ashley Pemberton, Ryan Nicholls, Joshua Webb and Ash McCutcheon.
In the junior elite women Caroline Buchanan seemed to have the edge over Ziggy Callan all weekend on the Lake Macquarie track, the championship final was no different. Caroline broke away to a clear lead and all Ziggy could do was follow and wait for a mistake, but it wouldn't happen Buchanan took the win by a couple of lengths.
The elite masters class was run for the first time, and a closely fought class of 30+ riders saw Brett Scruse take the win Jade McPherson picked off Karl Mustchin for the second. Simon Anderson finished in fourth, then Warren Casey, Paul Tomkinson, and Peter Trenwith and Danny Galea dusted themselves of from a first corner crash to round out the final field.

Intense BMX/Socko Energy Team press release
Round 6 of the 2007 ABA Pro Series was this past weekend in Roseville,
CA. A West Coast ABA National event is always action packed and
stacked for the AA Pros and the Nor Cal Nationals was no exception.
28 of the worlds top AA Pros were ready to go for the win but
as we know, only one rider can win AA each day.
Intense/Socko Pro Danny Caluag made his return to the ABA Pro
tour after a badly broken leg he suffered in February, and he
looked to see where his comeback training has put him against
the other AA Pros. Brandon Meadows is a local to the Roseville
track and was hoping to take another National Pro Main event win
here.
The Intense BMX/Socko Energy AA Pro team was ready to go for the
elusive AA Pro win and get the Nor Cal Fans pumped up. Both riders
had a great weekend of racing and here is how they finished up.
Danny Caluag had an incredible start of the 2007 race season, with a slew of wins in both the ABA and NBL, but a bad crash in early February had him sidelined with a badly broken leg. Danny had been working on staying in race shape and being AA strong, but how would he fair at his first ABA National back after his injury? Danny stunned the Nor Cal crowd as he raced his way into both days AA Pro main events and finishing up with a huge with a 1st and 2nd in AA Pro, as well as two 2nds in Pro Cruiser. This kid is just plain incredible and it seems nothing can hold him down. Danny's Sponsors include Intense BMX, Socko Energy Drinks, SINZ Racing, THE Products, Fly Racing, Shimano, Intense Tire Systems, Cyto Sport, OGIO, Thomson Seat Posts, and Answer.
Brandon Meadows has always raced well at the Roseville track, as he lives just minutes away, and this past weekend was one of his most consistent weekends of 2007. Brandon wound up making all 4 Pro Main events that he entered. On Saturday, Brandon was up for a 2nd overall going into the last main event, but a crash would push him all the way back to a 6th for the day. Things didn’t get any better for him in Pro Open, as another crash netted him a 7th. On Sunday, things were a bit better with a 2nd in Pro Open and a 5th in AA Pro. Brandon's Sponsors include Intense BMX, Socko Energy Drinks, SINZ Racing, THE Products, Fly Racing, Shimano, Power Bar, Intense Tire Systems, Cyto Sport, OGIO, Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com

UCI press release
The UCI is pleased to announce the opening of the newly reconstructed
BMX track at the World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland. The
UCI track construction team, under the leadership of official
UCI track builder Tom Ritzenthaler, has created a replica of the
2008 Olympic Games track.
With the help of the official suppliers; Caterpillar Rental Store, Layher© scaffolding, Pro-Gate© and Murphy Productions Inc, the track was completed in April, and is now available for the UCI’s high-level athletes and any team wishing to come and train.
“This BMX track is truly unique and the only one of its kind in the world, with its 8 meter high start ramp and the same track design as for the 2008 Olympic Games” says Johan Lindstrom, UCI BMX Sports Coordinator. “Any teams or riders serious about the Olympic Games need to spend time on this track, there is no question about it” adds Lindstrom.
“The track is as close as possible to the design of the Olympic BMX track, although some jumps are designed more for training purposes than for racing” says Tom Ritzenthaler, UCI track builder. “To see some of the best riders on this track puts a smile on my face, it is that cool,” finishes Ritzenthaler.
The track is app. 300 meters long, featuring an 8 meter high start ramp followed by two individual straight-aways (for Men and Women).
“We are especially proud of the start ramp construction, which was designed first and foremost with the riders’ performances in mind” says UCI project leader Matti Notlind. “This design will now become the standard for upcoming UCI BMX Supercross World Cups and of course for the Olympic Games” continues Notlind.
The World Cycling Centre can now offer National Teams and Trade Teams one of the most complete training facilities in the world. In addition to the BMX track, the World Cycling Centre has gym facilities, an indoor velodrome track, an indoor BMX start gate and a restaurant, with accommodation nearby. Teams interested in booking these facilities or receiving more details is asked to contact the UCI.

Formula Bicycles press release
Roseville, California – Factory Formula Bicycles / Monster
Energy / Fly Racing cruised into the ABA’s Nor Cal Nationals
last weekend with a small band of riders and a ton of attitude.
dR Donny Robinson, Alise Post, Lee Lewis, and newbie Andre Norles
hit up Oak Creek BMX in Roseville, California, just outside of
Sacramento looking to score some points with the ABA and with
the fans.
DONNY ROBINSON / AA Pro – Formula Solution Pro – Roseville
is dR’s home track and he was definitely looking to make
a statement, especially since his newest sponsor, Hewlett Packard,
had executives in the house to check him out. Need less to say
they were impressed. Saturday was a great day for Donny, nabbing
a second in AA Pro and coming from behind to take the win in Pro
Open. Donny has been training for the Olympics super hard lately,
getting all the heavy work done this year, since he won’t
be able to next year. Donny had some fatigue going Saturday night
and pulled out of Pro Open on Sunday, opting to concentrate his
energy on AA Pro. With a crash on Sunday injuring a finger, Donny
had to settle for a fourth, just off the podium. Next up for dR
is the UCI points race in Prunedale coming up this weekend.
ALISE POST / Women’s Pro – Formula Solution Pro Minus
Hybrid – Saturday, Alise did what she always does –
kill the competition. Alise rocked the mains with thre straigyht
wins to take home the Gold. Sunday was a different story with
crashing becoming the theme for Team Formula. Alise pitched a
chain going into turn one in round one. The crash damaged some
parts on her bike and she had to borrow Lee Lewis’ ride
for round 2. The bike was a little long for her, but the main
problem is that Lee runs a much smaller gear. Alise couldn’t
get it going on the unfamiliar bike and opted to sit out round
3 and had to settle for an uncharacteristic last place. Lais ecame
out of the weekend still in the Women’s pro lead and looks
to be the odds-on favorite to repeat as ABA National #1 Women’s
Pro.
LEE LEWIS / 17 Expert – Formula Solution Pro – If
Sunday was a day of team crashes, Saturday was the day of unclipping.
Lee eased his way through his heats and semis, and was ready to
show the world why he’s the #1 17-18 Expert on the planet.
In the 17-24 Open main, Lee got out to an early lead but came
out of his pedals going over the first obstacle. Lee battled back
and finished sixth. In class, however, Lee was ready for vindication,
coming out of the gate in the lead and he never looked back, grabbing
yet another win and extending his points lead, making a bid for
the overall National #1 Amateur title. Sunday, let’s just
say there was a theme and Lee fot to see the wrong side of turn
one a couple of times. All we can say about that is that New Mexico
is in two weeks!
ANDRE NORLES / 13 Expert – Formula Solution Expert Plus
– Andre made the trip from Kansas City to make his debut
for Formula/Monster/Fly. After a late flight and traffic in the
Bay Area, Norles missed Friday practice. He got some time in Saturday
morning practice and was as ready as he could be for racing. Norles
eased through motos and semis and continued the unclipping theme
in the 13 Expert main, settling for a fifth. Sunday was a little
better for Andre, with a fourth in 13-14 Open but only a sixth
in 13 Expert. New team jitters are always hard on riders, so look
for Norles to be back on track by New Mexico.

GT have been spending some time developing and testing their UB2
carbon BMX race frame, it's probably GT's first major investment
in frame design since their ultra box models. Photos have been
making the rounds of the forums for a while now and there are
mixed reactions, however GT have said nothing officially about
the frame and there are no official photos either. The power of
the web and it's forums makes a wonderful marketing tool.
Companies like Supercross made some frames with carbon main tubes, a project that failed. FMF and Avent have frames currently available with carbon tubes and seem to have had more success than Supercross did back 10 or so years ago, there is significant weight savings however there are weight limits for the FMF models, I haven't found any limitations on the Avent Morpheus.
Stephen Robinson from Monza Imports in Australia, the Aussie distributor for GT products, caught on to the forum discussion at bmxultra.com and wanted to fill in some blanks for us all. Here's what he had to say about GT's Carbon BMX frame project.
"The frame weight is 3.2 lbs. That’s under 1.5 kgs. No BMX manufacturer has ever produced something this light.
It will be sold as frame, seat, seat post, headset, chain tensioners only.
There are a few comments like it still has steel bars and forks. That’s an easy fix. Buy carbon or alloy forks, and we should all run cr-mo bars on a Pro + sized bike.
Please understand this is a pic of a prototype being tested by the USA GT team, Joey Bradford, Mike Day etc. Hence, no stickers or graphics and the sticker clearly stating ‘Prototype’. The production models will be painted and decaled. I’ve seen it, it looks awersome.
Luke Madill is amped about getting one of these, he thinks it is unreal!"
I am not sure about the frame weight statement, Supercross' EVO S-7 in a Pro XL size is 2.65lbs, and it's alloy. I am sure there are other frames out there but in my 5 minute search I couldn't find any other weights. This is a good example however.

Round 6 of the 2007 ABA Pro Series was this past weekend in Roseville,
CA. Traditionally one of the tracks with some of the best racing
on the ABA West Coast Nationals, it once again gave the fans a
lot to cheer about. A great weekend of racing and weather made
for one awesome event and the Double A Marketing Pros were once
again at the top of the Podium. Here is how they finished up.
Randy Stumpfhauser has the lead in the ABA Pro Points and he was looking to build to it. On Sunday, he did just that, as he won the AA Pro Class, grabbing another win in AA. Randy is after the only US Pro title he has not won, and by the looks of it so far, he is well on his way to his first ABA #1 Pro title. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI, Tangent, Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, CTI Knee Braces, OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Brandon Meadows has always raced well at the Roseville track and this past weekend was one of his best race weekends of 2007. Making all 4 Pro Main events he entered, Brandon was just off the Podium in AA Pro both days, due to some crashes, but a 5th and 6th in AA are very respectful. Brandon finished 2nd in Pro Open as well as 7th, Brandon's Sponsors include Intense BMX, Socko Energy Drinks, SINZ Racing, THE Products, Fly Racing, Shimano, Power Bar, Intense Tire Systems, Cyto Sport, OGIO, Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com
Joey Bradford had one of the best weekends of his young Pro Career. On Saturday, Joey raced the stacked A Pro Class and did not loose one lap all day. Winning all 3 main events shoes his consistency. On Sunday, Joey added Pro Open to his race activities for the day, and it was a great choice. Joey once again won all 3 A Pro main events and carried the momentum to Pro Open, where he hole shotted the main event and took the win. Joey's Sponsors include GT Bicycles, Fly Racing, Oakley, Bombshell, THE Products, Sun Ringle, Kenda, SDG, FSA, Sponsorhouse, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, Circle E, SRAM, OGIO, Sirius Satellite Radio, JoeyBradford.com, and BMXpros.com
Double A Marketing proudly represents Cristian Becerine, Kyle Bennett, Joey Bradford, Brandon Meadows, and Randy Stumpfhauser. For more information on any of the riders or on Double A Marketing, please visit BMXPros.com

The Northern Park BMX club at Mill Park in Melbourne's northern
suburbs will be hosting the third and final round of the Autumn
Series on Friday 18 May (This Friday). Racing starts at
7pm. New riders and visitors from other clubs are welcome.
The three round Autumn Series is currently supported by Goldcross Cycles Epping and Dirt Designs. The entry fee for each round is $5 per rider. There will be a specially designed presentation number plate as the series award. Riders will be scored/awarded in their own age classes, but may be combined with other classes during each of the rounds where classes are under subscribed. There will be additional awards to the series champions (highest points winners) in cruiser, male and female classes.
A series points system has been put in place to encourage participation.
Points will be scored on your overall position in your own age group for the night.
1st = 8 points, 2nd = 7, 3rd = 6 ... 7th = 2 and 8th = 1 point.
Bonus points are added for the number of people in your age class for the round.
2 riders = 2 bonus points, 5 riders = 5 bonus points.
So if you won in a class with only one rider you would get 8 + 1 = 9 points for the round. However if you got 3rd and there were 6 riders you would get 6 + 6 = 12 points.
Points from all three rounds will be counted for end of series totals. You only have to compete at one round to be eligible for end of series prizes, but you must pay for a minimum of two rounds.
We hope that this is a good model that we can build on in the future.
Current series category leaders
Cruiser: Dean Coles 20 pts
Women: Jane Stoyanoski 20 pts
Men: Shane Jenkins 24 pts
Location
The track is located at Sycamore Reserve, Mill Park, Victoria.
Training sessions
Gate practics every Wednesday night from 6pm.

Wyndham Warriors BMX club press release
As usual we are trying a few new things to keep our sport interesting.
The "main event" is the Master cup for 30+ open wheel
- this is to be conducted on a handicap format with bonus points
for 40-44 (1point) and 45+(2points) on heats, semis and the 3
final/final. What will it mean?, hopefully we get to find out
who the fastest rider "speed for age" is in the masters
age groups. With a perpetual cup, cash and trophies and medals
up for grabs we hope this will be an exciting style of racing.
We are again running our "holeshot cash" for the pros
on each of the 3 Final/Final, this proved great to watch last
year with some great 1st straight PULL on display. All the usual
classes will be run with a $50.00 family entry being offered.

Psykopath press release
Hey guys Andy and Dan here Psykopath UK! We just thought we'd
give you a report from the 1st weekend of the British national
series which kicked off with a double header.
Sunday morning came and didnt look like it was going to be a very
nice start to the season. With hazey rain and dark clouds it looked
like we were in for a rainy day but thankfully clouds parted almost
on que for the 1st motos to start. We had 39 riders in our group
so we had 1/4 finals for the 1st time ever so had to step up our
game. Our motos were up next and you could tell the butterflys
were upon us. In dan's moto's he got a 5th, 5th and a 3rd and
andy got a 5th and 2 4th's so both through to the 1/4's Dan was
unlucky not 2 get through in his 1/4 with a 5th, Andy managed
2 win his 1/4. Semi time and Andy again pulled out the gate to
take the win. final time and Andy had a good inside gate and pull
a good result with a 5th.
Monday and not a very nice day at all with RAIN, not what we like
but gotta do what ya can. Dan and Andy both got through to the
1/4s today with good results in the motos Dan got a 3rd in his
1/4 and Andy also with a 3rd. semi's and Andy had a bit of bad
luck with a rider falling along side taking him with him. Dan
also didn't have a good semi either with a 6th place so b finals
for both of us today. In the final Dan had a stormer of a gate
and it took him to a good 3rd place finish with Andy behind him
in 4th.

Formula Groove team press release
BCBMX Nationals round 1&2 - 6/7 MAY 2007 – Cheddar,
UK
The newly formed Formula Groove Race Team rolled into Cheddar this past weekend to compete in the first two rounds of the Relentless BCBMX National Series.
Super weather and an ultra fast track for Round 1awaited the team as the riders prepared themselves for the start of their assault on the National Series.
The team has been formed as part of the Groove Academy, headed by team leader and Groove Racing Supremo Mark Seaman.
5 of the team made the 'A' final on day 1 -
Ethan Vernon battled hard and finished 3rd in the 7 expert class
Bob Devereux rode well and took 4th in the 8 experts
James Handleigh fought all day in a tough mixed 11/12 year old
age
group and finished a creditable 6th place
British Champion Nicola Reed has joined the Junior Women category
this season and battled hard against the older girls to make the
final and secure a 6th place
Tony Slater made the A final in the 40+ cruiser class but some
bad luck saw him finish 8th and thinking of what could have been!!
As dawn broke on Monday morning it was clear that Round 2 was going to be a completely different prospect. Heavy overnight rain meant the track had slowed up and was now a case of survival of the fittest. Again the team rode well in trying conditions and all the riders put in their best efforts.
Again 5 of the team made the Main for round two -
Ethan Vernon rode well again to take another 3rd place in the
7's
Owen Baxter took 5th in the super competitive 10 year old age
group
James Handleigh gave 100% again to make the main and take 7th
place against the older boys
Tony Slater made up for Round 1's disappointment and took 5th
place
Nicola Reed showed great determination to make the 'A' final but
after a great start from lane 1 got squeezed down the first straight
and ran out of track. A scary crash saw Nicola stretchered off
the track and into the ambulance but thankfully a few minutes
later Nicky was able to stand up by herself – but with a
badly twisted knee.
The team now prepares itself for the next 2 Rounds of the National
Series at the Bournemouth BMX Club at the end of May.

It's no surprise that the Australian BMX Championships brings
some of the old faces back to the track, but while watching the
finals on the final day of racing I realised that I was standing
right next to bmxultra.com
Hall Of Fame nominee, Chuck May. After talking for quite a
while about old times, how much BMX has changed and so on Chuck
mentioned that he's keen to get back into the BMX industry, so
you might have to get used to seeing his face around again.
After returning from the nationals I received this email from old schooler Tony Hancox, which is just an indicator of the type of person that Chuck is:
...Even though he is out of the sport, he truly loves to help people. I rang him to say I was racing and he insisted we stay with him. Not only that, he then stayed up all week and made me a new set of clothes to wear.[unbelievable] The true feel good end to this story is an old school friend of mine David Pickford said hello at the track and introduced his young daughter who had raced. She was wearing an old Howie Waye GT jersey and raggy hand-me-down pants. I told Chucky about her and he ran down to the garage and brought up a new pair of Invada race pants and jersey. When we gave Rachel her gear, she was so shocked, she nearly started crying and gave us a hug. It was a great moment and to me an indication of what a great legend Chucky is. Even after racing, Chucky went up to Andrew Chook—uty and told him to throw away the rags he was wearing and Chuck offered to make him a new set..no charge! Chuck hadn’t even seen Chook in 5 years. To me, that’s a legend.

NBL press release
NBL launches the Bring-A-Buddy Recruiting Program to help
boost the grassroots of BMX
- More than $50,000 in prizes to be awarded -
Imagine if every NBL member recruited just one new rider this year. Local programs would get a huge boost and thousands of new riders would be hitting the track, raising the level of competition across the nation. The 2007 NBL Bring-A-Buddy Program has been designed to do just that and more than $50,000 in prizing will keep recruiters and NBL tracks working hard to recruit new ‘buddies’ throughout the spring and summer. The program’s primary challenge is to motivate current NBL members to recruit their friends (buddies) by offering incentives to anyone who recruits, at the very least, one new rider. By promoting the sport outside of the immediate community and into the schools and playgrounds across America, NBL members are promoting BMX to a brand new audience.
The program is simple and offers a wide range of incentives for members, buddies, and tracks. In the April and May issues of BMX Today magazine, members receive a cool sheet of ‘Buddy’ cards and are encouraged to distribute them to anyone who might be interested in trying BMX for the first time. When any of their ‘Buddies’ redeems a card at a local NBL Track, both the recruiter and buddy win a free limited edition NBL sticker kit or NBL trading card. After receiving their first prize the awards get more exciting and valuable.
NBL is serving up more than $50,000 in prizes and successful recruiters can earn a chance to win several major prizes including ‘The NBL Ultimate BMX Bedroom’, free passes to Camp Woodward and tons of new complete bicycles from Intense BMX, MCS and GT. The Grand Prize of the NBL Ultimate BMX Bedroom will include graphics, decorations, electronics, a new bike and tons of great sponsor products. NBL will be promoting the sport directly through the experts – NBL riders and tracks, and in turn, rewarding them for their efforts.
NBL tracks will benefit directly from the program and the top performing tracks will also win valuable prize packages including free bikes, helmets and other sponsor products. “The Bring-A-Buddy program is easy to run and many of our tracks have already embraced it. They are promoting the benefits directly to their members and in turn get a much-needed boost on the grassroots level”, says Jason Schiefelbein, NBL Field Director. Tracks and members can view monthly prizing, recruiting statistics, and other exciting news through the dedicated Bring-A-Buddy webpage on the NBL website.
“The program provides our sponsors with a vital link to the grassroots level and connects their brand directly to the end consumer”, added Kevin O’Brien, NBL Marketing Director. “It’s a great compliment to a successful marketing campaign for our sponsors and partners”. The 2007 Bring-A-Buddy program is proudly sponsored by Intense BMX, MCS Bicycles, GT Bicycles, Camp Woodward, Sinz Racing Products, and Vigor Helmets in association with BMXWORLD, BMX Plus! and BMX Today magazines.
The NBL is working hard to build a network of programs that will help capture the interest generated by the sport’s first appearance at the 2008 Olympic Games and ultimately turn that excitement into more competition. For more information about the program contact your local track and get started today. Visit the NBL website at www.nbl.org for more details.

BMX Australia press release
Khalen Young won his first National BMX Title in Newcastle today
just weeks after winning the first round of the World Cup Supercross
in Madrid, Spain. The 23 year old originally from Perth rode from
the inside lane and edged ahead of Wade Bootes, 33 years old from
the Gold Coast and Luke Madill (Penrith) currently ranked fourth
in the World who finished second and third respectively.
After being away from the sport for four years, Young has only been training for the last six months and focusing on gaining selection for BMX’s debut in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Young recently moved his base to Sydney to train with the BMX High Performance Squad.
With his recent World Cup win Young was confident. “I kind of went into the race thinking I was going to win." Young had an advantage by having first choice of lanes. “It’s the kind of track where you need to get the inside lane.”
Queensland’s Michael “Tiger” Robinson lead in the first straight but was unable to use it to full advantage from the outside lanes. Lane choice was the important ingredient. Young explains, “If you miss the start you’re at the back of the pack.”
"Everyone’s a contender but I noticed "Tiger" got a good start. We kind of banged the turn but once you get out it was kind of easy," said Young.
Asked if his recent international success had made him a target, Young replied, “I don’t think I was a marked man. Everyone’s a contender now days, everyone’s so fast.”
“You’ve got to watch out for everyone now days,” he said. Competition to make the final was fierce with many of the top riders coming unstuck. Defending National Champion, Kamakazi didn’t make it out of the semifinals when he was caught up in a crash while National Mountain Bike Downhill Champion, Jared Graves was sent over the edge of the track in the final.
Madill took out the men’s National Probikx Series title.
In the women’s race Bailey, 26, from Perth won by a tyre after a late challenge by Melissa Mankowski riding in her first elite national championship race
“I got out of the gate really good and lead to the first corner again. I knew I had to hang on but I was a bit nervous,” she admitted. A slight loss of speed in the second straight allowed Mankowski to gain some ground.
“I just hung on then. I knew she’d make a charge in the last straight. Going over the last jump I knew she was catching me but then I put a couple of pedals in and we evened up again.”
Bailey proved her recent move to Sydney has paid off when she secured herself another National title for the Probikx Series.
“I’ve been trying hard to work towards Olympic selection,” said Bailey, “and now it’s looking a lot better for me.”
Both Bailey and Young now gain automatic selection for the upcoming World BMX Championships in Canada in July
Bailey said, “I just can’t wait to go to the Worlds now and give those girls a bit of a run for their money!”
Defending women's National Champion, Krystal Cranfield finished in a creditable third place.

Round 10 of the Probikx series saw Tanya Bailey take a narrow win over Melissa Mankowski in the senior elite women's class. Factory Formula press release
Woodbridge, Virginia – Factory Formula / Monster Energy
/ Fly Racing’s Donny Robinson, rockin’ his new Formula/HP
uniform, killed it in Virginia with a UCI win on Saturday. dR
grabbed some much needed UCI points and inched ever closer to
that coveted Olympic team roster spot. On his Solution Pro, Donny
backed up his win with a third place podium finish in Elite Open.
On Sunday, dR showed the consistency that made him the most successful
pro in ’06, with a third place podium finish in Elite Men’s.
Another Formula sponsored rider, Tim Dinger, rode his Solution
Pro Plus to a second and a third in Elite Masters in Virginia.
dR has his eyes on the Olympics and has been riding well in ’07. Two weeks ago in Spain, against a stacked field, Donny was the top American at the UCI Supercross in Madrid with a fourth place in the main. Look for dR next at ABA Roseville, where he hopes to use his home-track advantage to grab some wins.

Supercross BMX press release
When a team like Supercross that concentrates on the Pros such
as 5 Time UCI World Champion Sammy Cools, and Current ABA # 1
Pro Cruiser Points leader Kenth Fallen picks up a top amateur
like Smokin' Joe Sowers it is definitely something to make people
think. Add Joe in with the rest of the Supercross amateurs and
Supercross could make a run for the ABA Factory team title, but
that is not what is going to happen. Joe and Supercross have come
to agreement for a long term plan that takes Joe past the current
run for the ABA #1 Amateur title for 07' but also into his pro
career and for the 2012 Olympics.
Joe will be riding Supercross' EVO iS Series of frames while they are finishing the development of their new Easton tubed version of the EVO G6 model, the Supercross EVO G6e which will be released this summer using the same superiour Easton Tubing Technology of their S-7 Scandium frames in a more affordable Easton EA6X Aluminum. Look for Joe and his Supercross at a National near you. Welcome to the Team Joe.
The Supercross Factory Team Proudly uses : Oneal Protective Gear, Blur Goggles, Atac Jerseys, Easton Tubing, Ogio Bags, FSA Headsets, Tech Products, and Stileman Clothing

Formula press release
San Diego, California – Formula introduces it's new Myspace
page to give fans and customers a chance to interact with their
favorite Formula riders and get the scoop on what's going down
with Formula. Also, all Formula team riders will contribute to
the Rider Journal exclusively on the Formula Myspace page. In
this journal, the riders - everyone from dR Donny Robinson, Jason
Rogers, Lee Lewis, to Arielle Martin - will set you straight on
what's going on in their world. The first one is up right now,
with dR letting you know what went down at the first 2007 UCI
Supercross race in Spain. Here's an excerpt:
"These trips are always good times because you get to know the real people behind the bike and for sure we are all better people away from the pressures of the track. I stayed with Randy "Not funny" Stumpfhauser and Jason "That's what she said" Rogers and we had a blast. Team USA went 12 deep I believe on this trip and we had great times missing subway trains, eating Chicken Pesto and doing filmed sprint sessions with Coach "G". "
Check out the rest at www.myspace.com/formulabicylecompany and feel free to hit up any of your favorite Formula / Monster / Fly riders.

Sorry for the lack of updates the past few days folks, it's been
a busy few days with travel, and training sessions at the Lake
Macquarie track. But we should be up and running as per usual
from now on with, fingers crossed, daily updates from the Championships.
The Lake Macquarie track is in great condition, very fast and smooth. With big lippy jumps in the first two straights and a tight, deep and long rhythm section in the third straight the track is highly technical and physically demanding. It has already taken it's share of casualties as riders have been preparing for the big event, and with a goal of wearing a number 1 on the number plate I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more ambulances as the weekend rolls along.
The big guns in the elite class have been sorting the track out, including the likes of Luke Madill, Khalen Young, Jarred Graves, Jamie Gray, Michael Robinson, Wade Bootes, Kamakazi, Daniel Johnston, Billy Jolliffe and in the womens elite class Tanya Bailey, Melissa Mankowski, Crystal Cranfield, Nichole Callisto, Kylie Patroni, but competition is so close in these classes don't be surprised if you hear a new name or two emerge by the time the dust settles.
From weather forcasts we should be in for some great weather over the weekend.
Stay peeled for the cruiser results tonight. I am told, if all
runs to schedule, the first day of racing will be done by 5pm.
