In a repeat performance, Melinda McLeod claimed her second gold medal of the BMX World Championships in Victoria, Canada today. The Mackay youngster raced in the 13 &14 cruiser or 24 inch wheel division on the final day of racing. McLeod made her move in the final straight to beat American rider, Shelby Stacey. Fellow Australian rider, Lacey Oliver (Gold Coast) rode into second place to claim silver.
For McLeod this brings her tally to two gold medals in two races making her the most successful Australian rider at this year’s World Championships.
Mackay rider, Adam Shields (Mackay) gained a fourth place with Maitland’s Graham Mudd beating him for third place in the 13 & 14 boys cruiser.
A bronze medal for youngster, Michael Chasteneauf(Eastfield) in the15 & 16 Cruiser was matched by another bronze medal by Luke Pretlove (Warrnambool) in the 17-24 age cruiser.
Canberra’s Caroline Buchanan had trouble at the start gate and made her way up into sixth in Junior Women’s Cruiser..
Josh Callan (Lilydale) was placing second in his semi-final when he crashed leaving him with a broken collarbone.
Overall the Talent ID squad (14-16 age group) has claimed 10 finalist which includes 7 podium places in just over 3 days. This is a good indication for Australia as these young riders prepare for the London Olympics in 2012.
Stand outs over the four days of racing were Melinda McLeod and Lacey Oliver with their four medals.
Lauren Reynolds’ (Bunbury) bronze medal on the second day of competition in 16 girls. This is a strong performance as the top two placings were Marian Pajon (Columbia) and Alise Post (USA) who are both race competitively in the elite divisions in America.
Also two bronze medals for Victoia's Michael Chasteauneeuf (Eastfield) was highly regarded in a tough age division.
The unluckiest rider was Sam Willoughby (Adelaide) who looked in good form through the preliminary rounds. Willoughby hit the start gate and was taken out in the last corner when he was moving into a fourth spot causing him to miss making the final.
Khalen Young's silver in the elite men's race was a highlight of the championships. Elite men and women riders will now prepare for the second round of the Supercross World Cup in China on the Olympic track at the end of August.

Aussies Tumble Out Of The Worlds As The USA Dream Team March On!
The Australian contingent of nearly 100 riders got off to a slow start on day one of competition with all of the Challenge classes, 14 years and under competing. Australia managed only 5 plates out of a total of 136 available on that day. Day two didn’t have any more joy with Australia winning 6 plates out of another possible 56 with no wins. The Australian Challenge class contingent won a total of 11 plates from a possible 192. Kirsten Dellar finished 5th in the 15 girls. Victorians Michael Chasteaunauf finished 3rd while Josh Callan scored 8th in the super tough 16 boys class with USA amateur sensation Denzel Stein (Factory Redline) taking the title. The most joy came in the 16 girls where three Aussies made the main. Lauren Reynolds finished 3rd, Rachel Bracken 5th and Cherie Simpson 7th. New Zealand’s highlight of the day was Alexandria Williams who finished 6th in the 16 girls.
The USA BMX Dream Team marched on with another impressive day which included 35 plates from 56, including 6 wins from the 9 classes that competed. The USA has assembled arguably the best USA team of all-time and produced their best team performance in the modern era of BMX.
Championship Day
The entire year of training and endless hours of gate starts all come down to these six laps. The grandstands are packed to the rafters, the atmosphere is electric and the track has it all, it’s fast, technical and loaded with big jumps. The Elite and Junior Elite men hit the two pro sections. The first out of turn one and the second out of turn two. Both sections have a big step-up and a set of doubles. The weather is very hot and not a cloud in the sky. To add to what was turning out to be a drama packed day is the fact that the race has no breaks between each round of motos. While the last Elite men’s race crosses the stripe, the first of the Junior women are on the gate. There is well over a two hundred Championship riders.
From an Australian point of view, this is a day we are looking forward to. We have the National Probikx Series and the Pacific Oceanic region UCI events. The Australian riders have been receiving a great deal of press both nationally and internationally and there has been a lot of hype that goes with the territory. In the lead up to the Worlds, Australia has been on top of the podium many times. Much of the Australian HPP Squad has been on tour for a while now in the hope that the experience will convert into wins and plate rankings. Warwick Stevenson did not compete and we have been informed that it is due to an illness that may be related to his recovery from his recent injury. Daniel Johnstone was injured at the Aussies in a crash with Jared Graves and only got back on the bike 1-2 weeks out from the Worlds and went into this event still under an injury cloud. He crashed in his first practice and re-injured his back. After a trip to the hospital and some physio he strapped himself to his bike and rode hard on the fast and technical track. DJ didn’t make it out of his motos. Kamakazi had unforeseen issues on the day which resulted in him also not making it out of his motos. By the time the semis came around, Australia had only two riders still in contention in Elite men, Jamie Gray and Khalen Young. Jamie went down in a huge wreck in his semi while KY had to deal with a tough semi which Kyle Bennett won.
In the main Kyle Bennett lined up in gate one, Khalen Young gate two and just outside of him is Randy Stumpfhauser. It was an even start with Kyle Bennett taking a lead into turn one. KY in second snaked a sweet line to take over the top spot for a moment in the turn. The lead then changed a couple of more times in what was turning out to be a memorable final. Down to the last turn it was the KB and KY show. Young was still in contention. Down the last straight through the very tough Redline Rhythm section, Bennett pulled away to take his third World Title. Young was a close second. Randy Stumpfhauser once again podiumed with third. The victory for Kyle Bennett is a sweet one having to overcome some personal set backs including a return to racing after a long stint on the sidelines with an injury. Khalen Young is literally the rags to riches story. He only returned to the racing fold about a year ago and has benefitted from his newly found dedication and determination to succeed. Randy Stumpfhauser is always a contender no matter what the circumstances. Again this year he looked good through all the qualifiers and was one of the pre main favorites. Randy is quoted as saying “I wasn’t feeling it this week”, it didn’t show in the way he rode and he was happy under the circumstances to finish top three.
The Elite women’s depth in the USA is strong and deep. But not one of the USA riders made the main in this class. Neither did any Australians. Only Sarah Walker from NZ had any success here with 2nd. Sarah was seen leading many laps. This class was totally dominated by the Europeans and the rookie sensation from Great Britain, Shanaze Reade. Shanaze won comfortably in the end with the girls crashing behind her, but her lead was already a title winning lead. In the lead up, everyone was looking forward to the Shanaze Reade (06 Junior World champ), Willy Kanis (06 Elite Women World Champ) and Jill Kintner showdown. On Shanaze’s journey to the top of the podium, she showed why she was the favourite, even though this is her first year in the top womens class. To say Reade dominated was an understatement. Last years top two female riders, Kanis and Diaz exited early.
In the Junior women class Australia is represented by Caroline Buchanan who finished 5th in what is another deep class. Caroline had a scare through the semis before booking a spot in the main. Only one USA rider made the main in either woman’s class. Perhaps we may have to look at Europe for the Olympic gold medal next year.
The “Suck It Up and Tough It Out Award” goes to Joey Bradford. He broke his hand which had to be iced up before each round so he could somehow grab the bars. He ripped it up and was a contender right to the very end where he and Yvan Lapraz (SUI) threw down in the last turn with elbows, shoulders and all. Mid last straight Lapraz managed the smallest of leads which was enough. Bradford can hold his head high as this injury would have made a lesser athlete withdraw.

BMXPros.com press release
Kyle Bennett won his third UCI world championship today at Victoria, BC, CANADA, his first since winning back to back in 2002 and 2003. BMXPros.com stable mate Randy Stumpfhauser finished third, the two were seperated by Australian Khalen Young who finished second.
Current Australian Champion, Khalen Young, has collected silver in the elite men's race at the UCI BMX World Championships in Victoria, Canada.
The 22 year old Perth born rider challenged the now three time World Champion, America's Kyle Bennett, right until the fourth and final straight when Bennett surged ahead to claim the gold. American Randy Stumpfhauser was third. Young was the only Australian to make it to the final after Jamie Gray (Brisbane) was eliminated in the semi-finals.
Bennett was helped to victory by drawing the preferred starting gate position but Young refused to be intimidated.
"I got out of the gate good. Kyle had the inside and we fought it out to the end," said Young. "I threw everything I had into it.
Young had struggled with less than ideal preparation after coming down with the flu a week before the Championships."
.
"I haven't ridden for a week," he admitted. "But I knew I'd done the work and I just want to thank the High Performance program for picking me up."
Young joined the Cycling Australia / AIS BMX HIgh Performance Program earlier this year and is currently ranked fifth in the world.
In April he scored a stunning victory in the opening round of the World Cup Supercross in Spain and will be out to repeat that feat when he heads to China next month for the second round being staged on the 2008 Beijing Olympic course.
In the junior women Canberra's Caroline Buchanan, 16, made it to the final and managed to avoid two crashes to cross the line in fifth place.

BMX Australia press release
Two Bronze at World Championships
- Day 2 - Friday Canada
The strength of the young Australian riders with a chance at making the London Olympics in 2012 was seen at the World BMX World Championships today. Three aussie girls made the final of the 16 age group with Lauren Reynolds (Bunbury) placing third, Rachel Bracken (Townsville) in fifth and Cherie Simpson (Byford) in seventh.
The 16 boys tried to match their female counterparts but with Sam Willoughby (Adelaide) crashing in the semi-finals it was left up to two Victorian riders in the final. Michael Chasteauneuf (Eastfield) came in third and Josh Callan (Lilydale) claimed eighth.
In the 15 girls Kirsten Dellar (Tom Price) made the final and gained fifth place.
With competition heating up the elite junior and senior riders gained some valuable practice before their important race tomorrow. All eyes will be on the elite riders as they start their epic journey towards their Olympic dream.
Buchanan bikes at both World Championships
Caroline Buchanan will line up for her first of two World Championships tomorrow (Australian time). The 16 year old Canberra BMX rider will compete with the junior elite women in Victoria, Canada. Buchanan will then have just 40 days before competing for Australia at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Fort William, Scotland. Buchanan will race in the Four Cross or Mountain Cross event after winning the elite National Championships in Canberra earlier this year.
Buchanan has already shown good form after placing fourth alongside top elite BMX women at the ABA Las Vegas race just two weeks ago.
Even with two World Championships, Buchanan says the pressure is not too much. “It doesn’t all come down to one. It sort of makes it less stressful,” she said.
Buchanan will spend time after the BMX Worlds training for Mountain Bike World Championships in Whistler, Canada. In August she will compete in a NORBA Four Cross race in Aspen, Colorado.
At this stage Buchanan does not need to choose between the two sports. She has raced BMX since she was 8 years old and in recent years started riding mountain cross. This season she also competed in downhill racing and won the National Series.
“I still love BMX but I like the newness of it (four cross). I love downhill racing .too, they all help each other,” she explained.
“The downhill has helped my bike handling skills but I’m more suited to four cross.”
The elite BMX riders competing in this year’s World Championships are under a lot of pressure to make the finals. With the sport's inclusion in the Beijing Olympics in 2008, this World Championships is seen as the start of their selection process. Buchanan however is just 10 months shy of being eligible to compete in Beijing but she has her sights set on the London Olympics in 2012.

BMX Australia press release
Australian BMX rider, Melinda McLeod from Mackay has received the first gold medal at the World BMXChampionships in Victoria, Canada today.
The 14 year old from Holy Spirit College came from behind to take the prestigious number 1 plate. With two Australian riders in the final the chances of a medal was high.
Gold Coast's Lacey Oliver (Nerang) was in the lead until the first corner. A clash with the French rider in second caused them both to slip. McLeod went high to miss the action and rode on to win. Oliver narrowly missed out on second place and a photo finish relegated her to third.
The 14 year old boys also looked like another gold medal for Mackay when Adam Shields went out fast and was leading for the first half of the race. With a little too much speed in the third straight he overshot one of the jumps and got out of control and unclipped. Shields went on to take a creditable 8th with Maitland’s Graham Mudd in 4th.
The Australian Talent ID Coach, Wade Bootes, said it was a success for the program. “Well we got four out of our four riders into finals. That’s a pretty good success rate,” he said.
Tomorrow’s racing program features the remainder of the Challenge Classes with Australia’s chances also looking strong in the 15 and 16 age groups. Riders such as Adelaide’s Sam Willoughby, Rachel Bracken (Townsville) Lauren Reynolds (Bunbury) and Kirsten Dellar (Tom Price).
The elite senior and junior riders will also get on the track for practice before they race the following day (Sunday am AEST).

BMX Australia press release
Constructing a replica of the first BMX Olympic track in his back yard could give Sydney BMX rider, Luke Madill the edge when the sport makes its debut at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Madill has been overseeing the massive earthworks that will in one month’s time produce an identical track to the sport’s Olympic design. At just half the width, the 370 metre track will eventually feature a massive 8 metre starting ramp on his property in Penrith just outside of Sydney. The 27 year old hatched the idea after the official track design was released by the UCI in March this year.
“I was talking to the track builders about doing something at my place. Then when the UCI design came out they said they could build it. It just went from there,” he said.
Madill has left the track under construction to head to Canada to compete in the World BMX Championships in Victoria, British Columbia on 26 – 29 July. Australia has 99 race entries in the World BMX Championships with expectations riding high for medals in the elite men’s race.
Nine of Australia’s elite team will race on Saturday and several riders are expected to in the make it into the final of eight.
“It will surprise me if there are not two or three make the final,” said Madill.
Madill rates his chances of success in this year’s World Championships as high.
“I don’t think I could’ve trained any harder,” he admitted. “I know what I’ve been doing in the gym and on the bike. I’m definitely going into this with a lot of confidence.”
“It’s still a bit scary being in your best form and hoping you do alright,” he admitted.
Madill had made two finals at World Championships in recent years but pressure could be placed on last year’s two finalists Billy Jolliffe (Tamworth, Newcastle NSW) and Jamie Gray (Beenleigh, QLD) to repeat their creditable 7th and 8th places respectively. Gray was a late inclusion in the team when injury prevented American-based Warwick Stevenson from competing.
Victorian youngster, Ashley McCutcheon was the only Australian to bring home gold last year when he won the 15 year division.
Australia’s hopes may also lie in Khalen Young (Perth, WA - St Helen’s Park, NSW) and Kamakazi (Jimboomba, QLD) with good results at international competition. Young won the first World Cup Supercross event in Spain in April then went on to win the Australian National Championships in Newcastle one month later. Young is Australia’s highest UCI ranked rider in 5th position. Just two weeks ago, Kamakazi placed second in the first day of competition in the prestigious ABA Las Vegas race.
National women’s champion, Tanya Bailey (Perth, WA – Pacific Pines, QLD) could also have the edge with recent good form placing her third in second day of the Las Vegas competition. Bailey is Australia’s highest UCI ranked rider in 7th place overall. Melissa Mankowski (Moranbah, QLD – Campbelltown, NSW) won the first day of competition in Las Vegas. 2005 World Junior Champion, Nicole Callisto (Perth, WA – Campbelltown, NSW) will compete in the elite division after knee surgery has kept her away from competition.
In BMX racing anything can happen in a race that lasts only 30 seconds. This 370 metre track features a three metre high start ramp, four straights of which two are pro sections and three berms. Riders are predicting that there may be more overtaking opportunities on the wider berms resulting in the lead changing several times over the 300 metres.
All countries at this World Championships will be aiming for top places as they vie for valuable international points to maximize their rider numbers at the upcoming Olympics. Australia are aiming to rank in the top five countries allowing them a maximum number of riders, 3 male and 2 female.
After the World Championships in Canada, Madill will return to Australia to prepare for the assault on the second round of the World Cup Supercross on the Olympic track in Beijing at the end of August.
After racing in China Madill says he will be able to fine-tune his track. Gaining more idea of the jumps and aspects of the real Olympic track, Madill will return home to fine-tune and complete the 8 metre start ramp which will give Madill the ideal preparation for the Olympics in his own backyard.
Madill has not decided if he will make the track accessible for other riders to train on. “If they offer enough.” he jokes

"UCI INTRODUCING NEW RULES
The UCI is currently working on a new format of the BMX chapter in the UCI rule book, which will be launched in August 2007. Meanwhile, UCI will introduce special procedures for the season 2007, which will be additional rules to the existing rule book."
And before I could look into it I got a message from Aussie pro Khalen Young who is at Canada at the moment getting ready for the World Championships this weekend. He said there will be a random gate call at Beijing next month at the second round of the UCI Supercross World Cup. When I asked him what will be random about the new UCI call, he said the gap between the voice and the light sequence will be up to 3 seconds.
There has been a lot of speculation and discussion about the random gate especially since the UCI had some riders test it out at the 2006 World Championships during a practice session.
The gate start is the most important part of a race especially in an elite field where riders are shoulder to shoulder the whole way around a track. Blow your gate and there is no way you are going to win the race. Riders spend countless hours just on gate technique and timing, some choose to slingshot while others stick with the more traditional snap. Slingshotting requires absolute timing to the millisecond or could end in disaster, you can see some of the more successful riders who slingshot will base their timing around the end of the voice part of the call.
There has never been any rationale as to why change the call to random timing, but it's clear to me that someone doesn't like the idea of people slingshotting. Some of you may realise that Khalen Young killed it at the first round of the UCI Supercross World Cup series in Madrid and took the win. The gate technique he used was a slingshot. Will the random gate bring him back into the pack? I doubt it, riders like Khalen will adapt quickly. But what happens after that? Are they going to take the jumps out because not all riders can jump them? Will they take the corners out because some people can't get through them as quick?
I really think that we need to look at why change this sport of ours now, especially on the eve of our Olympic debut? Why can't we show this sport for what it really is, it has it's own unique character that could appeal to a new generation but it seems to be shadowed by 30 foot high starting hills and massive doubles. Don't get me wrong I love watching that style of racing, the only thing is I am already a BMXer. Imagine the perception of the sport for outsiders. Imagine when kids say to their parents I want to try that. I can see it now "You're not going to do that! Now get back to your playstation and don't ask me again." The decision will be based on what is seen on TV.
I am no affraid of change, I embrace change (well maybe not clipless pedals or the suspension fork craze of the early 90's or disk brakes)...ok I embrace most changes. But one of the reasons to race BMX is the freedom of choice, I can choose to manual or pump or jump a double, I can choose to rail a corner or high-low or low-high or take some one out. Why can't a rider choose to start the way they want to start? It hasn't been a problem since the sport started in 1970.

STAATS / Challenge team press release
With much anticipation, the STAATS / Challenge team rolled into Las Vegas for the ABA Las Vegas National. The million dollar question everyone was asking each other since Utah was how many moto’s, what age groups would carry the biggest groups? After it was all said and done it was the largest moto count at a national I can remember. With some huge group counts, you can imagine team managers as well as riders were licking their chops. Coming off wins in each of their last 3 nationals in Bakersfield, Roseville and Utah. The STAATS / Challenge team hit the track looking to record their 12th team score. 7 Girl McKenzee Kibbe started the racing off for the STAATS / Challenge team taking home a 4th and 5th in class for the weekend. Heather Allred finished with a 3rd on Saturday and a 2nd on Sunday in 21-25 Girl Cruiser. 9x Dustin Hammond and Dougie Butcher had a rough day Saturday not making their Cruiser mains but came back to place 5th and 8th in class Saturday. Hammond took it out on the field Sunday coming out of the gate like a rocket to take the win in the 9x class. Alden Volle was welcomed to the 11x class with the biggest rider count of the weekend. Taking a 7th on Cruiser Saturday, and a 6th in his class main Saturday. Volle took care of business Sunday with a win in the biggest class of the weekend 11x. Alex Jones had a tough weekend between kissing the gate getting being run off the track and not getting clipped in he still managed to make both Class and Cruiser mains Sunday. After not getting clipped in he never gave up pushing all the way to the finish line ending up with a7th in Class and 8th on cruiser in the huge 11x group. Dakotah Isenberg pulled out a strong 2nd on Saturday and a 3rd on Sunday in 15 Cruiser and 4th and 6th in class. Melvin Shadrick had a good weekend with a1st and 2nd in the 31-35 Cruiser and a 1st in class Sunday. Joey Backus survived the carnage Saturday in 19-27 Boys taking home the win in one of biggest classes of the weekend and a 3rd in 17 over open Saturday and a 4th in Class Sunday. Teammate Corey Reid took care of business Saturday winning the 17-20 Cruiser and taking 7th and 5th in the 19-27 class. AA Pro Josh Oie just missed the cut Saturday and continues his new training program and looks forward to his next challenge in Reno. Josh will be leaving for a tour in Japan with STAATS in early August.

The World BMX Championships will be run this weekend at Victoria, BC, Canada, racing commences Thursday. With the Olympics looming and hundreds of elite riders fighting for chance to be amongst the chosen few to represent their country at Beijing, the World Championships have never been so important. Sure there is the 2008 World Championship event and a bunch of UCI Supercross World Cup rounds between now and the Olympic debut of BMX racing. But a good finish this year under immense presure will certainly help with rider selection for national teams and Olympic training programs being developed around the globe.
I am sure that we all have our ideas of who we would like to take the Elite class crowns, but until the Elite finals have been run it's mearly guess work.
Good luck to all competitors.

ABA press release
Last month the ABA was proud to announce two new ABA Canadian Tracks, and this month we are very excited to proclaim the addition of Ottawa BMX in the province of Ontario. Ottawa BMX will now become the backbone of ABA's presence in eastern Canada, and will proudly host the 2007 ABA Ontario Provincial Championship Series. The ABA Ontario Provincial Championship Series will be a great addition to the province for both the riders and the track. The riders will be battling for incredible number-plates provided by Tangent as well as backpacks for each age group champion, provided by Fly Racing. John David, ABA Director of New Track Development, had this to say, "Ottawa BMX is a great example of ABA's goals and objectives in Canada. ABA is providing the best available services and product for both the riders and the tracks, and Ottawa BMX choosing to be ABA is proof of that!" Terry Lipovski, Ottawa BMX President, said "BMX riders in Ottawa are genuinely thrilled with the change to ABA. We have researched this thoroughly and are fully confident that the ABA has the right strategy and strengths to benefit our track and members."
The Harbour City Nationals, the second event in the 2007 Canadian National Series, will take place August 3-5th at Nanaimo BMX. This will be a one of the best events of the year, as Nanaimo BMX, located on Vancouver Island, is known for being one of the best hosts of major events in North America.

ABA press release
The American Bicycle Association hosted its 3rd largest National event of its 30 year history in Las Vegas, NV at the South Point Hotel and Casino this past weekend July 13-15. Las Vegas, NV proved to be a must attend event with over 5000 participants and 16,000 spectators over the three day event, which represented riders from 38 states and 9 different countries. Friday’s event was a record setting pre race event with almost 1000 participants and 157 motos, Saturday was the third largest ABA National event ever held with 378 motos and 2438 participants, and then Sundays event was 351 motos with over 2300 participants.
With BMX entering the World Stage at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing China, the Las Vegas National drew international riders from around the world. Riders from New Zealand, Costa Rica, Mexico, South Africa, Chile, Canada, Japan, Argentina, and the entire Australian Olympic BMX team were all in attendance. The vast attendance by US and International riders earned the event the front page spot on Sunday’s Las Vegas Review journal.
Executives from Disney were on hand to witness the event first hand and inform everyone about the Disney Cup Fall Nationals that will be hosted at the Disney Wide World of Sports October 25-28 2007. Executives from Bawls Energy Drink were also in attendance. The Rush HD Network was their filming “Motivated” a 1 hour documentary on Bubba Harris, ABA’s National #1 Pro for the third year in a row.
The South Point Casino was an excellent host for this event, with the Hotel being directly connected to the arena it allowed participants and family members the opportunity to see a movie, play games in the arcade or go swimming or bowling in between races. The South Point Casino played a major role in exposing the sport to the general public as well, with a video playing on the billboard in front of the casino and Event posters through out the Hotel drew in spectators that otherwise would have never been exposed to the sport.
The ABA would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Las Vegas event such a huge success!

Intense BMX/Socko press release
July 14 & 15 – Las Vegas, Nevada – ABA South Point National
Intense/Socko Factory Pro Team rider Danny Caluag rolled into Las Vegas looking to continue his year long hot streak of AA Pro and Pro Cruiser race finishes. Danny has overcame a huge injury he sustained in February and impressed the entire BMX racing community as he looks like he never missed a day of training or riding on his way to 6 wins in the ABA AA Pro Class and 8 wins in the Pro Cruiser class before the Las Vegas event.
On Saturday, the big surprise of the day was the huge race turnout with almost 380 motos of hot racing action. This was one of the biggest National events in the ABA history and was a strong showing of how big BMX racing is getting, leading up to the 2008 Olympics. The Pro class also had a huge turnout and Danny easily made his way into both the Pro Cruiser and AA Pro main events. Danny started things out with a 2nd in Pro Cruiser, adding to his already points lead. In AA, it was 3 aces for Danny, as he incredibly won all 3 Pro main events, taking the AA win. This win put Danny into the AA Pro Points lead in the ABA as well.
Sunday stated off good for Danny, as he won the Pro Cruiser main event, giving him another win, more points, and a bigger lead for the Cruiser title. In the AA Pro Semi, it looked like a main event as the Pros got into the gate. Danny was just off the pace and in 5th and was unable to make the main event. Danny left Vegas with a winning hand, taking his Intense Podium frame to the Podium both days, and leading both AA Pro and Pro Cruiser Points. Danny looks to carry the momentum to the UCI world Championships July 27-29th in Victoria, Canada.
The Intense BMX/Socko Energy Drink Pro Team is proudly supported by THE Products, Fly Racing, SINZ Racing Products, Shimano, OGIO, Cytomax, and Vigor Helmets.
The all new Intense Podium Frame series has taken the BMX world by storm. Sizes include Junior Pro, Pro, Pro XL, Pro XL +, Pro XXL, Pro Cruiser and Pro Cruiser +. Both frames are offered in Flat Silver or Flat Black. . The Eastfield Eagles BMX Club of Victoria announced tonight that the event formerly known as the Spring Classic will now be called “The Eastfield Experience proudly presented by Moro Olive Oil.”
President Keith Lyon said today “The sponsorship deal this year with Moro Olive Oil has allowed us to look at where we are going to head with this event in future years. We have a prize pool of over $5000 for Pro Men and Women this year and there will be some great prizes for all other classes and sprockets. In fact our total prize pool will be well in excess of $8000. We feel that we can put on one of the best BMX events in Victoria for 2007. A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend of mine, Nick Brookes, over dinner. He works at Daktari Sport which is a BMX/MTB specialist at Mount Gambier,SA so Nick has a lot of interest in new BMX products. He suggested that someone should put together a chart of products so people can compare weights, prices, etc without having to go from website to website. Which, we all know, can be time consuming and you might come up empty handed. While some manufacturers might show weights, a lot don't.
With a little extra time on my hands lately I have put together a database that can capture information about products and manufacturers and allow you to compare products in certain categories. It's currently lacking in data, but over time that will change.
What I need from you, the reader, is some feedback.

David Smart was the owner of Smart plates and one of Victoria's more popular pro riders through the 80's which was evident having gone to his 40th birthday on Saturday night. David has spent a good part of the last 15 years living in the US, no more BMX racing, but he still has a bike at home. Even having spent all that time overseas his party was more like an old school bmx gathering, with the likes of Dean Patch, Paul Librio, Grant Williams, Danny Galea, Paul Gallagher and a whole bunch of others. David will be in Australia for another two weeks before heading home, but we'd like to wish him a big Happy 40th for today.

Psykopath Press Release
The Psykopath Van headed to the Great Salt Lake Nationals for some hot action racing, and it was really hot!
Danni Blackmore crashed and knocked herself out, she got a concussion so doctors adviced against racing on Sunday, too bad because 2 weeks ago she doubled in Santa Barbara, Hope you are better Danni!
As smooth as usual, Nick Valencia, got 2 seconds in Cruiser, with no luck in class on Sunday not without throwing some stile at his last race.
Saturday saw all the Psykopath Pros make there mains with Jesse “Hollywood” Langland and Evan Steinberg was flying all weekend on their new Psykopath pull frames.
Ericka Short was on a mission with her brand new 07 Pull Frame that she put together a hour before the race with the help of new team manager Arturo, who gave up his own frame for the team and ended up borrowing other peoples bikes all weekend (what a Trooper!!), she grabbed a pair of second places both days. Ericka showed everybody that she can win Elite woman, but she had to settle with a second for the day again, I guess training is paying off, and she did it with a broken foot/toe!, she never even got out of the injury list!
Saturday Super fast Argentinian Damian Lopez make his main in which he ended up crashing on Stumpy on the first turn and end up hurting his leg on the process which put him out for rest of the week.
The highlight of the weekend was Evan Steinberg who was going super fast all weekend and on Sunday he finish first! With a stacked main with names like Sowers, Garcia, Anderson, believe me, it was no easy task, and from all of us at Psykopath we congratulate you on your first win Evan!
Our next National will be in The Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada, this will be the return to the tracks of Alan " Hot Pants " Hudson, A pro is getting more and more exiting to watch, it will be interesting to see Alan and Evan race each other !. Most of the West coast team will be there, drop by, so you can see our 07 Pull frame, light and fast and ready to Race, for more information you can e-mail us at psykopath_industries@yahoo.com see ya at the races!.
NBL press release
It all comes down to the NBL Grands... Again!
For Free Agent's Kyle Bennett, a 1st and 2nd at South Park put him only two points behind his teammate, Cristian Becerine, near the top of the Elite Men standings. Becerine, who has the most wins under his plate this year, traded wins with Bennett at the Stars and Stripes National to set-up the finale’. This will make for a thrilling finish to the NBL season and don't count out NBL's reigning Champion, Formula's Donny Robinson - he showed his true colors at last year’s Grands and would like nothing more than to be the first Pro to repeat since the ’97 & 98 seasons when France’s Christophe Leveque earned back-to-back NBL Championships.
Redline's Kim Hayashi holds a comfortable lead over Supercross's Sam Cools and Krystal Hime and is focused on earning her 5th consecutive NBL Elite Women’s title. Felt's Jason Morris and MCS's Jonathon Villa gained ground on Profile/J&R's Mike Kapes which should set up an epic finish to the Super-Ex season. Redline's Jason Carnes leads the Masters class by a good margin over Formula's Tim Dinger and GT's Joey Bradford and TLD's Amanda Geving have good leads in their respective Junior classes. Geving also leads the Elite Women's Cruiser class. View the complete list of NBL National Standings here

XBR press release
As of July 2007 - XBR will be mailed to the homes of licensed riders in Australia and New Zealand for FREE.
XBR has been working hard to secure advertising to make this possible. We have also been working closely with many State/Territory Associations to make sure we can reach their members without breaching any privacy issues.
The following states will have the paper mailed directly to their riders (one per household) SA, NSW, TAS, NT with final negotiations still underway in Victoria, WA and ACT. Qld clubs will have the paper mailed in bulk to their zones; clubs will need to pick up their free papers from there. The paper will also be mailed directly to the households of many NZ Riders.
For as little as $75 for a half page B&W Ad (Special Club Rate) you can advertise a club race or event, safe in the knowledge that it will actually reach the people it is intended for. Not only does this provide valuable promotion for your event - but it is also provides an opportunity to give something back to your sponsors.
XBR will have a new look website as of July. We have someone who will be updating it regularly with entry forms, Audio Visual Race Reports, Rider Profiles, Surveys, Photos and heaps more. It will also tie in with our new MySpace site.
The team at XBR has been growing over the last couple of months and we now have a number of people on board, learning new skills in order to bring the BMX Race Community the latest information in the race scene. We will also start to have a presence at tracks soon with the XBR Tent and some XBR clothing getting around.
To guarantee that you receive your paper for free - go to www.xbr.com.au and fill in the SUBSCRIBE TO XBR form. The next edition of XBR is due off the press around the 6th of JULY.
If you would like to advertise in XBR please send an email to editor@xbr.com.au

Double A Marketing/BMXPros.com press release
2 huge BMX National events took place this past weekend. On the East Coast, the NBL held the Stars and Stripes National at South park, PA. This was the last NBL National before the Grand Nationals and it was a very important event for Christian Becerine and Kyle Bennett. Christian has been leading NBL Pro Points for most of the season and he was hoping to add a few more very important points, so he could go into the NBL Grands with the lead. Kyle who had surgery and missed a few events at the start of the season, was looking to add 2 more powerful scores to his impressive NBL season and give him a shot at the title and put him into the top of the points. On the West Coast, the ABA held the Great Salt lake National in West Jordan, Utah and Randy Stumpfhauser wanted to go to the event and add to his already impressive ABA Pro points lead. Here is how all of the guys finished up:
Kyle Bennett has had such a strong season after returning from surgery and this weekend was just another example of how he may just be the top American Pro racer right now. Needing 2 more scores to have the maximum allowed to go after the title, this was a big weekend for Kyle as he not only needed 2 main event scores, but 2 great scores to have a shot at the year end title. On Saturday, Kyle got one of the great scores he needed, as he finished 2nd in the Elite main event, just behind his teammate Cristian. Kyle would take home a win in Elite Open. On Sunday, Kyle knew it was his last shot to get another top score and this time he didn't let anyone down or anyone beat him, as he won both Elite Men and Elite Open. This puts Kyle just 2 points behind Christian for the title and it will all come down to the NBL Grands for the title. Kyle's sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, Bombshell, www.bmxtraining.com, Sun Rims, Shimano, UGP, Kenda, Thomson, S & M bars, ODI, ORP, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Cristian Becerine knew that the competition was going to be after him this weekend and he was ready. On Saturday, Cristian easily made his way into the Elite Men's main event and was ready for a huge battle. As the gate dropped, he had a perfect gate start and took the holeshot and the lead. The South Park track is super fast and has huge asphalt turns, letting riders make incredible moves and Cristian knew that anyone from behind could do just that if he wasn't on his game. Kyle made a pass in the 2nd turn, but Cristian turned on the power and passed him back, on his way to another win. On Sunday, Cristian was looking for another win, but was just off the mark with a 2nd. This was a huge weekend for Cristian, as he still holds onto the lead and it will all come down to the NBL Grands. Cristian's Sponsors include: Free Agent, Answer, Kenda, THE Products, ODI, Sun Ringle, Shimano, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, OGIO, Oakley, Thomson Seat Posts, and BMXpros.com
Randy Stumpfhauser had a weekend to forget in Utah. On Saturday, the Pro only format took a huge toll on the riders and the track, as the hot conditions caused more havoc to the track than anything else. The 1st turn had all kind of potholes and divots in it and Randy was able to find 2 of them. On Saturday, in the main event, Randy hit one of the holes and crashed, while in the battle for the lead. On Sunday, it was in the semi that Stumpy found another nice hole and ended his weekend with a 8th in AA on Saturday. Not the race weekend he was looking for, but he left unhurt and ready for the ABA event in Las Vegas in 2 weeks. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI, Tangent, Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
