The race meeting was scheduled for the 16th September, 2007 but the club was forced to cancel due to building works happening at their track.
They hope to run the event early next year on a free weekend.

Post will use the site as her exclusive online destination for social networking and on-line video to post unique content as well as to communicate with fans.
The St. Cloud, Minnesota native started racing BMX at the age of 6 and immediately fell in love with the sport. Her love of racing pushed her to win her first of four Girls Overall National Championships at the age of 10. Post finished up her amateur career with well over 100 National victories and numerous Local, State, Regional and World Championship titles before turning pro at age 15.
After taking two thirds in her first two races as a pro, it didn’t take Post long to win her first race, finding the top of the podium in just her third try. Post finished up with 5 wins for the season, enough to earn her the Women's Pro National Championship in her rookie year. At 15 years of age, Post became the youngest to ever win the Pro Championship and was also voted "Rookie Pro of the Year" (an honor that had been exclusively reserved for males) by the readers of BMX'er Magazine.

NBL press release
The National Bicycle League is ready to host the 30th running of the NBL Grand National and the stage is set for a thrilling end to the 2007 season. The NBL Elite series classes will race their way into the history books on Saturday afternoon during the Elite Spectacular and the NBL will present more than $40,000 in purses. The ‘pumped-up’ show starts at 5pm on Saturday afternoon with special music, intense racing, the Intense ‘Build-A-Bike’ contest, and the BAWLS BMX Blowout presentations. Be sure to stop by the NBL booth to pick up an NBL Elite Series Autograph Poster and get it signed by your favorite pros.
Not able to make it this year? – no problem, tune in to www.bmxtvdirect.com for the live webcast! BMXTVDirect will be filming all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s action. The webcast is free and all you have to do is click over to the site and you’re connected.
Redline’s Kim Hayashi is looking to claim her history-making 5th consecutive NBL Elite Women’s title and sits atop the standings with 189pts – 15pts ahead of Supercross’s Samantha Cools (174pts) and Krystal Hime (172pts). Cools and Hime will have to be at their best with luck on their side if they are to have a chance at dethroning the reigning champ.
In Elite Men, Free Agent’s Cristian Becerine (187pts) clings to a two point lead and has his sights set on winning his first-ever NBL Elite Series title. This won’t come easy though as he’ll have two of the hottest acts in the world to deal with. Teammate and newly crowned UCI World Champion, Kyle Bennett (185pts), sits a mere two points back and the NBL’s reigning Elite Men’s Champion, Donny Robinson (172pts), is only a handful more off the pace. Formula’s Robinson comes in at the top of his game after a big win at the China UCI Supercross race that was held on the 2008 Olympic track.
Redline’s Jason Carnes will battle Formula’s Tim Dinger for Master class supremacy while J&R/Profile’s Mike Kapes takes on Felt’s Jason Morris and MCS’s Jonathan Villa for the Super-Ex title. GT’s Joey Bradford and TLD’s Amanda Geving control their own destiny in the Junior classes with comfortable leads but don’t count out Grands party crashers like Logan Collins, Gavin Lubbe and Madison Pitts.

ActionProfiles.com press release
ActionProfiles.com, the original action sports social network, has launched a brand new video platform on it's growing website.
With the internet changing so rapidly and new technologies emerging, sharing content on the web is the latest craze and ActionProfiles.com is at the forefront of a new breakthrough action sports video platform that has recently launched on it's popular website.
The new video platform allows registered users of the site, to embed video from basically anywhere on the web that provides an embed code. The most popular videos are obviously coming from YouTube but users are also embedding videos from many others as well. The process of embedding these videos is very simple and user friendly, as users are essentially just copying and pasting the video embed codes from their favorite sites. The videos are added to the member's profile as well as a searchable database for browsing and viewing.
"We are very pleased with the turnout of our new video platform and so are the members. It's such a simple way to get videos on your profile and to watch hundreds of other action sports related videos that other members have submitted. Our old video system was not working very well and not everyone could get their videos to upload properly. With this new system, it won't be a problem at all", said Brandon Winnie, President of ActionProfiles.com. "We are in the process of establishing key partnerships with specific video communities to increase our video content and give our users more viewing options."
If you are looking for a site to share & watch pure action sports videos check out www.actionprofiles.com/actionsportsvideos

ONE KENDA press release
The first major BMX race for Asia, after the IBMXF Worlds in Japan, was the 2007 Supercross in Beijing.
A great event under tough circumstances.
Although tickets were sold out, still many seats were empty. Wonder why that was ?
There wasn't even anyone offering tickets on the black market and as it appeared the price was only 10 CNY, which is about 1.30 USD.
Some people were under the impression that Chinese people were hired/invited to fill the seats.
Hospitality was wonderful but the security matters were a little too much. Of course it was an Olympic try out for the organisation...this was mentioned a little too much. It almost made people think it was just a test race. Yeah right !
Ok, the random gate was introduced for the first time and it was a good thing to see fair starts.
Also, the quarters and semis were run 3 times. Very tough in the Beijing heat, with not too much breaks in between races.
The track was as expected. Great to watch for people who don't know BMX, cause it is spectacular to see.
Although it doesn't have the back up of the old skool BMXers it appears the IOC was excited about the event.
And it was a great event, with great races and a lot of drama - crashes, cramps and celebrations...
ONE/Kenda had Aneta Hladikova from Czech Republic, Gabriela Diaz from Argentina and Joyce Seesing from the Netherlands to compete in the Womens class.
Arturs Matisons, Maris Strombergs from Latvia were the Men that represented the ONE/Kenda colors.
Edzus Treimanis from Latvia was flying the PIT colors.
Unfortunatelly Maris crashed hard in practice as did many others, as well as former ONE rider and winner of the SX round in Madrid, Khalen Young.
All other made it trhough time qualifying.
Joyce competed as the youngest rider in the Women class.
Aneta made the trip to China, raced, but had been in pain for the last weeks. Aneta is in hospital as we speak recovering from her appendix surgery.
Gabriela Diaz made it to the final.
In the final she was in 2nd place but in the last turn Anne-Caroline Chausson came a little to fast on the inside of Gabriela forcing her to go to the outside and Gabriela also had to let Laëtitia le Corguille pass. Gabriela took 4th place. Still a great result.
Check her out on BMX-Videos (semi 2 and main).
Edzus Treimanis did well, but crashed hard with Michal Prokop in the last quarter.
Arturs Matisons was amazing.
He kicked ass and had the random gate under control like not many others !
Check out Arturs on BMX-Videos (quarter 2, semi 1 and main) and see what we mean.
Unfortunately cramps messed up his main.
Arturs was unable to finish, although he was certainly one of the few to be able to win the event.
We hope Arturs will be back in shape for the 3rd Supercross event in Salt Lake City (USA) in September.

Interbike is around a month away now, it's the biggest bike industry trade show in North America and often is the place that most manufacturers display their new range of products for the first time. What will be interesting is to see how the BMX race products are presented going into the year that BMX racing is set to debut at the Olympics.
Supercross BMX has already hinted at some plaid designs for their frames and seats, you will have to keep an eye on the news section of the site to see what else they have in the pipe works. Check out www.supercrossbmx.com.
Khanlen Young, now riding for Haro Bikes, has been on a prototype frame, which I am pretty sure is the same frame that Derek Betcher is riding. It's looking pretty sweet. Hopefully they will have some more pics on the site soon over at www.harobikes.com/bmx/index.php
I have also read that Yeti, the famous Mountain Bike company, has come up with a race frame for one of their factory MTB racers, Jarred Graves. Jarred has been sharing his time between his MTB and BMX and tearing it up on both bikes. Jarred would be stoked right now after finishing third at the UCI Supercross world cup in Beijing on the weekend. I haven't seen any pics of the frame yet, it might be worth keeping an eye out on the Yeti Website at www.yeticycles.com.
The Intense Podium frame has been out for a little while now, and is building momentum, while it may now change the future of BMX race frame design it does look different, check it out at www.intensebmx.com
Kuwahara, made famous by the movie ET back in the 80's and by Warwick Stevenson and Matt Pohlkamp in the 00's, have some new bikes under wraps for now. But after doing a product review on their Laserlite Team bike earlier this year, all I can say is look out for next years models you won't be disappointed. Their website is at www.kuwaharabmx.com.
Well that's all I have time for right now. Enjoy. 2007 intebike looks like it will be worth checking out if you get a chance.

The Olympics are less than a year away and I got to thinking "who would make a good race commentator for BMXs Olympic debut on Australian TV?" (That's assuming that BMX does get some air time.)
In most Olympic sports the host TV network tend to hire retired athletes to commentate and give expert opinion on their former sports. Well there are plenty of recent retiree's in BMX racing, Wade Bootes springs to mind for one, but not any that are well known to the general public.
I think Luke Madill would be an ideal candidate for the job, he seems to cope well with the camera, but obviously he's still in the running for a spot on the Australian team.
I wouldn't like to see Bruce McAvaney as the BMX racing commentator, sure he knows his sport, but will he know enough about BMX? Besides he'll probably try to treat it like the Melbourne Cup and if that happens I will have the TV on mute and crank up some music. It's a new sport for the Olympics, apparently introduced to increase the youth audience, so it would make sense to have someone in that position who knows BMX inside out and is energizing to listen to.
I remember the 1998 world BMX championships were on SBS they had a couple of guys do voice overs on the final edit. One of those voices was that of Brendan Arnold, the son of former BMX Australia president. Something that he said has stuck in my head all this time. He said that the bikes cost $6,000, which was just a load of crap and would turn anyone away from the sport. Khalen Young won the UCI Supercross World Cup and second at the World Championships on a near standard Hillbrick which would cost around $AUS1,500 to build a replica. Javier Columbo won last years world Championships on an SE that was near stock, and you will find that it's rare that any pro BMXer would be on a bike that's worth more than $2,000.
My point is we need a commentator who can put a positive spin on the sport, let people know that the tracks like the one they are looking at are for the sports elite only. Let them know you can start on a second hand banged up BMX for $100, or buy a race ready bike off the shelf bike for around the $500 (junior size) - 1,200 (pro size) that would meet most BMXers needs rider.
Who do you think would be good for the job? I know a former Australia BMX legend that would love to be involved. Jamie Hales has seen plenty of TV time back in his day. And what about Allan Phillips who does a great job of the BSX each year? Maybe this is a good discussion topic for the forum.
Formula press release
Formula / Monster / Fly's Donny Robinson wins the UCI Supercross in China. dR was the lone American to make the main event, holding off Robert DeWilde for the HUGE win. Donny showed why he is the #1 ranked rider in the world. Signs of things to come for the Olympics? Lets hope so!
Formula's Arielle Martin didn’t make the main, getting caught up in semis. Arielle was the top American qualifier, but Jill Kintner made the main and finished 5th.

ABA press release by Shannon Gillette
The American Bicycle Association hosted the Mile High Nationals this past weekend, August 17-19, in Dacono, CO. The weather was a little rough leading up to the event this year, but the Dacono crew always does a great job on the track and facility and the event went off without a hitch!
The racing at the Mile High event was second to none! With only THREE PRO SERIES events left plus the ABA GRANDS, many of the sports top athletes were on hand to take a shot at getting some much needed points towards the ABA BMX titles and the brand new Suzuki`s that go with them. Derek Betcher took the win both days in the AA Pro class. This has been a break out year for Derek and marks his first two wins of the 2007 season This also makes him the 10th AA Pro to stand atop the Pro podium in 2007. That`s right, ABA BMX has had 10 different AA Pro winners this season which tops the 2006 record of 9 AA Pro winners. That just goes to show how deep the talent pool is at ABA BMX Pro Series events!
On the Ladies side Alise Post continued to show everyone why she was ABA`s 2006 Woman`s Pro Champion. Alise picked up a set of wins in Colorado as well, bringing her total to 11 wins this season. Alise is the only Pro to break into the double digit wins list so far this season. As of now, Alise looks to have the 2007 ABA Woman`s Pro title in stangle hold!
Pro Cruiser saw Kenth Fallen take the big win on Saturday, and Pauly Lange coming back strong to take the win on Sunday. Both riders picked up their fourth win in Pro Cruiser and both took one step closer to Danny C. in the #1 spot.
Vet Pro saw the return of "C-Money" Jason Carnes back on top of Saturday`s Podium. The reigning Champ picked up his eighth win of the 2007 season and showed the fans why he`s won the ABA Vet Pro title five years running. Jason Silva has continue to impress since his debut in the Vet Class in Phoenix earlier this year. Jason finally picked up his first big Vet Pro win in Colorado. Jason has been so close, so many times only to end up second. Sunday was his day to get the big check and claim the top spot on the podium.
The ABA would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Dacono, CO. event such a huge success!

Cycling Australia press release
Toowoomba cyclist Jared Graves, 24, snared third place in today's second round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Series raced as a test event for the sport's debut at next year's Olympic Games in Beijing.
The win went to American Donny Robinson who has been in Beijing since mid August with Dutch rider Robert de Wilde outfoxing Graves on the second last straight to claim second place.
It was the first time Graves, who is better know for his world class performances in downhill and four cross mountain biking, had raced in the BMX Supercross and his placing today has signalled to selectors he is well suited to the Beijing course.
"I was looking forward to getting on the big hills because I like the high speed stuff and thought it might work in my favour and it did," said the reigning Australian MTB Downhill Champion who races with the Yeti Professional MTB Team. "The course is awesome especially after the few changes they made to make it better racing."
The eight metre high starting ramp remained but the officials worked overnight to lower the height of the first jump and shorten the second double jump.
"The races are really only forty seconds so it's really important to get out of the start gate fast and be really aggressive down the first straight," he said. "If anyone tries to throw some elbows in you have to throw them back and keep powering the whole way and not let anyone get in your space."
"My goal this week was to get things done pretty much so hopefully this will do me a lot of good for selection (and while) I'll do some MTB next year it will be all about the Olympics and that's what my preparation will be based around," said Graves who in two weeks time will line up for Australia at the MTB World Championships in Scotland where the weather will be radically different from what he has experienced here in Beijing.
"It was pretty tough today, a bit hotter than yesterday but no humidity," said Graves of the heat that today soared well over the 40 degree celsius mark at the bowl shaped Laoshan BMX venue. "It might have been a good thing or might have been a bad thing because the humidity yesterday sort of kept you cooler because you were dripping wet the whole time."
"Today it was more of a dry heat and I had a few issues," he explained. "I felt a little sick after the first few laps but they slowed down how quickly they were running the races because people weren't recovering in between on what is a really physical track and the heat played a pretty big part."
The BMX finals day schedule puts the men through three runs each per quarter final and semi final heat before a one race only final while the women raced a three run semi-final to qualify for their final.
"It's really full on and in every run you pedal out of the start and pedal out of the first straight but it's the things in between that really take it out of your body like pumping through the rhythm sections which is really hard on your whole body," said Graves. "You are absolutely gasping for air at the end of the lap and we had to do it seven times in three and half hours."
In the first ever running of a women's division in the BMX Supercross, Australian Champion, Tanya Bailey, 26, along with 2005 World Junior Champion, Nicole Callisto, 19, performed well with both making the final. Callisto finished seventh and Bailey eighth. Great Britain's reigning World Champion Shanaze Reade won ahead of French pair Anne-Caroline Chausson and Laetitia le Corguille.
“In the final I got held up in the first corner and lost my speed,” said Bailey. “I just loved the track (but) having that much speed down the start ramp meant we had to be careful not to overshoot the jumps.”
The track took its toll on many riders including three members of the Australian team. In Sunday's training session Kamakazi broke the radius bone close to his right elbow joint and Melissa Mankowski's crash resulted in a hairline fracture to her hip socket. World Championship silver medallist and Supercross series leader going into the Beijing round, Khalen Young, crashed in the first time trial of the qualifying round yesterday leaving him with badly bruised lungs and ribs.
In the men's racing today Luke Madill was hit with severe cramping in his second of three semi-final runs putting him out of contention for a finals berth while in yesterday's qualifying Australians Billy Jolliffe and Michael Robinson. missed the cut off of 32 to go through placing 33rd and 34th respectively.

The third annual BSX event will go ahead on Monday January 21st, which is the Monday following the UCI race that kicks off the Track Attack series in Melbourne.
There is a lot of organising to happen between now and then, but we've been through it a couple of times now and it gets easier and easier especially with a fantastic support crew.
With the weather starting to fine up we are planning some track works on Saturday September 15th, the idea is to bring in a few truck loads of dirt to make the track even more fun, and spend some time riding too. If that falls through we'll just give the track a tidy up and ride for the rest of the day.
Anyone in the Melbourne area interested in helping out just email webmaster@bmxultra.com
For more information about BSX check out www.bmxultra.com/bsx

RXR Protect press release
RXR is revolutionizing protection in the action sports world with its exclusive patented “air shock absorber” technology. Imagine a body protector that absorbs 5 times more energy than plastic and 8 times more than foam material.
It is time for BMX and MTB riders to wear real chest-protectors! There’s no “roost” to be protected from in BMX, Down Hill or Free Ride, and the 30 year-old technology of plastic roost-deflectors do not protect as much as our RXR Protect chest-protectors. Keep your back and chest safe. Ride with Air!!
High protection, lightness, comfort and mobility are the 4 main features of the Organic and Full chest-protectors from RXR Protect. The ASA (Air Shock Absorber) technology ensures maximal body protection, high mobility and light weight, the Organic weighing 1.9 lbs and the Full chest protector weighing 3 lbs.
The materials used make you forget you are wearing a chest-protector. Worn under or over a jersey or jacket, the RXR body armor is comfortable and very protective.
The secret of RXR Protect is air contained in a very durable ergonomic inflatable bladder with a number of interacting chambers that allow the air to move from chamber to chamber. In case of a fall or impact the air moves between chambers absorbing the energy from the point of impact before it reaches your body.

UCI press release by Johan Lindström
UCI is pleased to announce the 2008 permanent career numbers for Elite Men and Elite Women. Please see attachment or click on the link below to view the current list of numbers. These numbers must be used at all international BMX events worldwide.
Starting with the season 2006-2007 (from 1 August 2006), the UCI introduced a permanent number system for Elite Men & Elite Women. With this system, riders can choose a “career number”, which they have the exclusive right to use for their entire Elite class career. This will give riders a possibility to market themselves and to give media and spectators an easy way to identify riders. The UCI permanent number system is solely for the Elite Men & Elite Women class, where any rider with an international license rider can choose a permanent career number from 10 to 999. Number 1 – 8 will be reserved and will be assigned to the top 8 finishers in the previous BMX World Championship, and can be used for the upcoming season.
A chosen number will be exclusive for the rider, and cannot be used by any other elite class (including Junior and Cruiser classes). A chosen number will remain as long as the rider receives UCI points during the season, although the number will be assigned to the rider for 2 additional years (without points) before becoming available again.

Boston, MA - Go211.com (www.go211.com), the premier action sports social networking and online video share site, is proud to announce today that ABA Women’s Pro National Champ Alise Post joined the Go211.com professional team. Post will use this forum to post unique content including interviews, tips, videos and pictures as well as to communicate with fans.
Alise is also sponsored by Formula Bicycles, Fly Racing and Monster Energy Drink.
“I’m honored to be on board with such a great crew at Go211.com. Plus, just to be mentioned along with the names on their Pro roster is very surreal,” Post says. “Those are some of the best action sports athletes in the world, and to be considered one of them is amazing to me.”
“We’re very excited to have Alise join the Go211 Pro Team,” said Sean M. Aruda, CEO of Go211.com. “Her impressive accomplishments at such an early age and sheer passion for BMX make her a welcome addition to the Go211 community.”
Go211.com is the leading community and video site for lifestyle sports created by and for action sports athletes and enthusiasts. It’s the place to hang with the Pros and friends to get behind-the-scenes video, blogs, photos and podcasts from featured contributors along with other action sports fans. Cycling Australia press release
An eight strong Australian BMX team will line up for the second round of the UCI Supercross World Cup being staged on the Olympic BMX track. BMX makes its Olympic debut next year and this will be the only time riders will be able to ride the track prior to the Olympic Games. The event also marks the introduction of a women's class (open class Elite Women/Junior Women) to the BMX Supercross World Cup Series. The Australian team is:
Western Australian Khalen Young goes into the men's event as the Series leader after his win in the opening round in April in Madrid. Last month he continued his good form with a silver medal at the World Championships in Canada and is currently ranked number five in the world. However Young has been unable to train for the past week after coming down with the flu.
"I'm flying to Beijing tomorrow but I've been in bed with the flu all week," said Young from his American training base. "But that was the same preparation I had for the worlds and that worked out okay."
"Hopefully if I rest up I can come back fresh for Beijing."
The BMX riders will face a new challenge in Beijing with the International Cycling Union (UCI) testing the introduction of random starts. In the past the BMX riders have lined up at the start house and known exactly when the gate will release allowing some to 'slingshot' from the line.
"This random start will be a bit different but we're pros so we have to roll with the punches," said Young. "Normally we'd know when the gate will drop and can preload but now the gate might drop at anytime between one and six seconds."
Officials have said if the trial goes well the rule will change but, although he currently uses the slingshot technique, Young says he'll just have to adapt.
The BMX track was completed on the 5th June and is located in the Shijingshan District in West Beijing. The bowl-shaped Laoshan BMX Venue covers an area of 1.98 hectares, has a floor space of 3,399 square meters and contains seating for around 3400 people. Construction of the venue involved a search for the soil with the right proportion of sand and excellent permeability. After comparing as many as 14 samples 6,000-8,000 cubic metres of soil from Dong'erqi Village in the Changping District of Beijing was used.
"I've been told that after the first turn the course really opens up with some big jumps and that really suits me," said Young.

I think an Australian national series for the elite riders and 14-16 classes has been great for the riders participating, it's certainly pushed those riders to take it to another level. But why aren't the other classes involved?
Sure there are costs involved in going across the country to compete on a national circuit, but there are costs involved in racing any weekend. I would prefer to race one national race every month or two than race local events for a whole month, especially if it meant the type of racing that is on offer at the national championships level, but on a more regular basis. But what would that mean for local racing if everyone had that attitude? Not everyone would, some people race for the sake of racing, other might just do races in their local area, and then there are the guys prepared to travel for the competition.
Often people hear me talking about this and they say "yeah but you could afford it" it's not about me personally, no matter who I talk to or where they are from most people would be up for a national series. Many riders are already traveling interstate for competition anyway. The ACT titles would be a prime example, or track attack, and so on. So if they are traveling why not give them something more to travel for.
The infrastructure is in place already why couldn't the other classes piggy back on that system? I am not trying to take away from the original idea of highlighting the elite class, those guys deserve it. Watching them makes me want to go to the track. And the 14-16 classed riders also put on a fantastic show. So run them in their block as per usual, and don't make a big deal about the other classes. Just give them a season end goal, something to keep them motivated and involved. I assure you that it's not just the riders involved who will benefit but the whole sport in general.
This can only help the younger riders develop so much quicker, and keep the older guys interested and maybe in the sport longer.

I am working on a project to put the history of Australian BMX together. I don't expect it to happen overnight since we are talking about nearly 30 years since BMX racing hit our shores. If anyone has any information on who started BMX in Australia or in their own state, if you have contact details, photos, or anything that might be useful, please send to shane@bmxultra.com.

Victoria's Northern Rivers region are holding a round of their regional championships series at the Northern Park BMX Track on Sunday.
The club has a whole lotta history.
I was at the track last night, it's in great condition considering the rain over the past months. It holds up to rain very well and is currently dry and set like concrete. There are a few rough spots along the second straight, but the club has already been at work to rectify that and I am sure that riders wont even notice it by the time racing comes around on Sunday.
If you are looking to check out some racing get down to the Northern Park BMX track at Sycamore Reserve, Mill Park, Victoria.
You may also get your entry in if you hurry, check the race calendar for the entry form.

Formula press release
Beijing, China – Everyone knows that dR is one of the most prolific personalities in BMX. The kid’s practically a legend and he’s still only 24. Well, now he gets to be a true international superstar as the United States Olympic Committee whisked Donny away the day after the UCI World Championships to Beijing, China to be part of the Olympic Press Tour. With the Olympics being just one year away, media from all corners of the globe descended on Beijing to see what they can expect in the ‘08 Games. Donny was handpicked by the USOC to represent not only the sport of BMX, but the United States in general as an ambassador of our country. Over the past week, Donny was treated like a VIP by the Olympic organizers and the Chinese government. He attended dinners at the US Ambassador’s private home and received a tour of the Olympic venue as well as the Great Wall of China. Who could have imagined this for our sport 30 years ago?
Here is a video link to a question from Donny’s NBC press conference: NBC Press Conference
Here are two links to promotional pictures of Donny on ESPN.com: ESPN - Olympics Photo Wire 1, ESPN - ESPN Photo Wire 2
Here’s Donny in his own words:
“From the time I left my house to go to the Worlds 'till the time I get home will be about 6 weeks of travel and events. Right now I'm in China.
The last few days I have spent with the USOC on an Olympic Goodwill Press Tour in Beijing. What an amazing opportunity this has been. There is no way I can convey in words what a privilege this has been. I'll talk about just a few of the things I can remember.
The first day of the trip (Thursday) we started off with a formal Press conference with many different Chinese and American journalists and photographers. Pretty much answered questions like how our preparations are going coming in to '08, what we have thought about Beijing thus far and what affect the Games will have on Beijing.
Both Thursday and Friday nights we went to the house of US Ambassador to China, Mr. Clark Randt. Turns out his wife is from near my hometown in Napa, CA so we hit it off directly. Very few times have I been to dinners like this. Just amazing the history of the house we were in, as well as the people of whom we were in the presence of. The second night at the house had us interact with many of the Olympic sponsors that included GE, United, etc.
The Olympic venues are breathtaking. The Chinese are really going all out and are so prepared for the '08 Olympics. They are fully prepared in all aspects of the Games it's unreal. Pollution, traffic... everything will be perfect come 8/8/08. Everything in China seems to be centered around the Games. There are many digital billboards around the city counting down the start of the Olympics.
Friday went to one of the training schools in Beijing. Here they trained badminton, table tennis, various martial arts and a few others. There is nothing like this in America. 20 ping pong tables with 6, 7, 8 year olds battling. I decided to play a few 7 year olds. I couldn't even return their serves. I was having fun but they took our game very serious. They finally started smiling when they realized how ridiculous I played.
Saturday we headed to The Great Wall. It was a great big workout haha. This is something everyone should experience it's truly breathtaking. I think I even heard a pilot saying we needed to turn off our electronic devices we were so high up.
I am here with 5 other athletes Gao Jun (table tennis), Howard Bach (badminton), Lindsay Pian (archery), Iris Zimmermann (fencing) and Erin Popovich (paralympic swimming). I consider them all great friends now. Just in case any of them read this- $34.50, be a man!
The Chinese are very respectful. Certainly makes me feel the need to return the kindness that they have given to all of us athletes.
Now that the press tour is over I will be hanging out in China until 8/24 where I will be racing at the Olympic BMX venue. I plan to head to the 1 year-out Olympic celebrations on Wednesday with a few of the USOC members. It's going to be a big blowout.
Amazing trip that's all I can say. I know I forgot to include many more things but I'll keep updating when I remember. The USOC are awesome people, the Chinese rock, I've made many new friends and this trip has made me want to come back even more next year to compete in the best Olympics of our generation.”
Donny, you rock, and are definitely the perfect ambassador for our sport and for the United States of America.
Psykopath Industries press release
Hey it’s Arturo from Psykopath World headquarters with the UCI World Championships Race Report.
A Reduced group of our factory riders: Jr Woman Erika Short, Elite Men Augusto Castro, Elite Men Sergio Salazar, 17-24 Challenger class Nick Valencia, and Jr men Jessie “ Hollywood “ Langland headed for the UCI World Championships in Victoria, Canada. A small group, but a lot of talent between them all!!
The track looked awesome, tall and big jumps, smooth and fast surface, stacked motos with fast riders from all parts of the world equals some good hot action racing!!
Augusto has been looking good and going super fast lately. He made the mains in the always super hard Elite Men's class that had the fastest riders in the world and took home the World #7 for the year; A few weeks earlier Augusto got 4th in the main at the Pan American Games in Rio Janeiro Brazil, Look for Augusto at most UCI races in 08; Sergio made the Elite Men Cruiser main and will be running a World #6 in 08 and was also looking super fast all week he made it very far in 20" but a little bit of bad luck kept him from making the Semi's; Nick Valencia went to the Worlds after wining his Cruiser Main in ABA Las Vegas national , he raced 17-24 challenge class; making the main out of 126 people! That’s a lot of riders that had to end up watching the main!! Nick was banging bars down the first straight and got bumped to the back of the fast pack of riders, in a competition that is one lap no crap, one little mistake and you’ll pay!. and Nick will be running a World # 8 for a year, Not bad for a guy that makes his extra cash by competing in Street contests and got the racing bug last year. Look for Nick in 08 to make his Pro Debut, so i guess he will have to start training and hitting the weights!!
Erika and Jessie had some good laps but couldn't’t make the main.
At the end we got 3 World titles out of 5 Psykopath riders. We are really proud of all of them and from all of us at Psykopath Industries World headquarters we congratulate all our Riders!
Our next race should be The Mile High Nationals at Dacono, Colorado, if you see our PSYKOVAN drop by so you can pick a DVD and check our full line of Pull Aluminum frames! Now in limited edition yellow, for more info emailed us at psykopath@yahoo.com seeya at the races.
BMX World press release
The 2007 UCI Worlds are coming to a close with all cruiser classes being contested on Sunday. After all the hype of Saturday with the championship classes, Sunday was a step back to normality. The weather once again is perfect. In fact Sunday is a touch overcast and a bit cooler then it had been all week and the rider comfort level is at its best.
The mornings schedule has all age cruisers on the track followed by the championship elite cruiser classes in the afternoon. Team USA won another 8 titles from the 15 contested. Eric Rupe had a form reversal after a bad day on his 20 inch and took home the 40-44 cruiser title. Jason Carnes wasn’t leaving town without at least one win under his belt. “The Horny Toad” took care of business and won the 35-39 cruiser class.
Championship cruisers brought down the curtain on a memorable week of racing.
Magalie Pottier (FRA) took control of the junior women cruiser final and once out of turn one, a win was never in doubt. The top four is dominated by the Europeans. Ramona Labounkova (CZE) second, Joyce Seesing (NED) third, Manon Valentino (FRA) fourth.
Fausto Endura (ECU) won junior cruiser. After a tight first two straights, Fausto won comfortably. It was up to Yvan Lapraz (SUI) and Joe Sowers (USA) to work out who stood where on the podium. Lapraz took second in a very tight one.
Sarah Walker, New Zealand’s shining light for the week is having a great meet and backed up a solid 20 inch ride with a wire-to-wire win from gate one in elite women cruiser.
In elite men Danny Caluag is stuck in gate seven. He had the best first straight pull, but “The Mosquito” Jonathon Suarez took the holeshot from gate one. Down to the stripe it was two races in one. Caluag was pulling Suarez but ran out of track, to only just miss out on a win by a narrow margin. The battle for third was also tight with Arturs Matisons and the “Big Brit” Kelvin Batey. Kevin had some legs left down the last straight and hit the Redline Rhythm Section smoother, which enabled Kelvin to book a spot on the third step of the podium.
This years Worlds is arguably the best World Championship to date. With the Olympics in sight, racers from all over the world have stepped up their programs in an effort to make the national squads and teams or be earmarked for future representative honors. Most classes had numerous title contenders which not only made the talent pool deep, but made competition intense and exciting all event.
2008 ushers in a new era of BMX. All roads lead to Beijing, firstly for the UCI World Championships then ultimately the Olympics. The 2008 World Championships are now less than twelve months away and almost to the day, the Olympics. Both Kyle Bennett and Shanaze Reade (2007 Elite Men and Women’s World Champions) have been quoted as saying “they can step up even more”. With this in mind, the next twelve months of international BMX is going to be an exciting one if the 2007 UCI Worlds is any indicator.

bmxultra.com press release
Round 6 of the WA Super Series was held at the Southern Districts BMX Club amongst grey skies, rain showers and plenty of wind!
Historically the track is on an old velodrome (opened in 1971 according to the plaque at the track) and contributes to the bowl-like layout with plenty of trees and grass banks to sit on. The track itself is not what you call challenging and if you’ve got some good first straight pull, you had a distinct advantage. However the lack of technicality was made up for in fast and close racing in all age groups. Some major players were absent from the race including Scott Taylor and Jade McPherson who was representing at the Worlds in Canada. Others may have chosen to sit this one out as the weather in Perth has been crapola for the past 2-3 weeks (hey we no complain – the dams need it). So onto racing:
A-Women
This was a combined affair with 4 riders starting which meant that it was effectively a 4 moto final to decide the cheques. Cat Hopkins had a perfect day taking the win from Laura Western and Alyce Patroni in 3rd with all placings identical in each moto.
A-Men
18 riders were on the start list which meant semi finals again. Masters rider Tony Keogh is mixing it well in this class and was unlucky not to make the main after he was sitting comfortably in 2nd spot in the semi going into turn 2 when he left the door open and got taken high. Turns out he was not fussed in missing out as his 35+ legs were on their way out!!
So it’s main event time and the final 8 were Mitchell Kerr (Freedom BMX), Josh Cardy, Mason and Jaymin King (Felt/Pal & Panther Racing), Joel Stevens, Shaun Black, Tyler Green and Cam Ainger.
Two wins and a second ensured Jaymin King earned top spot on the podium ahead of Cameron Ainger and Tyler Green a further 3 points adrift in the 3-spot. These riders particularly are making a name for themselves in A-Pro with consistent podium finishes so it wont be long before they say hello to Double A.
Bruiser Cruiser
A record 15 riders entered the Masters class on the weekend which is the most since the class was introduced in WA. The racing is extremely close at the moment with any number of riders able to take the win. The main was won by BMXULTRA.COM team rider Matt Butterworth, followed closely by Wayne Green and 7A Nathan Schmiedte. Matt has now placed no lower than 2nd in 4 of the 6 rounds in Bruiser Cruiser and it was also the round where the new ONE/BMXULTRA.COM team jersey made its first appearance.
AA Men
No semi finals this time around with 11 riders making the start list. The AA rider count was down on previous meetings but that only meant those knocking on the door were able to taste some main event action.
The top 8 read as Dylan Prince, Joe Hey, Jake Farrell, Kane Gill, Lindsay Truscott, Andrew Gillett, Tim Mores and Brock Murray.
Brock was looking strong all day and recorded 5 wins overall in the motos and finals including sweeping all three mains to run out a clear winner. Tim Mores and Andre Gillett filled the podium spots with Andrew snaking 3rd on a count back after finishing equal on 12 points with Lindsay Truscott. Gillett managed to finish ahead of Lindsay in the last main of the day to grab number 3.
Racing returns to the country next round with the Dandalee BMX Club in Narrogin hosting what is always a laid back, cruisey and fun weekend on the 19th August.

UCI World Championship Victoria, Canada
The World Championships are always the toughest race for the Elite Racers and the 2007 event was by far the most competitive in BMX history. With over 150 Elite Pros signed up for the event, this was the largest showing of the worlds best pros all at one event. The World Championship track in Victoria was by far one of the most technical and outstanding BMX racing tracks that the event has ever been raced on and it was a true showing of the worlds best racers in the main event. For team USA, this was the first event for qualifying points for the 2008 Olympic selection so there was even more at stake than ever for our riders. This always important and meaningful event just got a bit more prestigious and the Double A Marketing Pros were ready to take on the challenge of the ever so difficult task of representing Team USA into the main event:
Kyle Bennett has been a man on a mission all season after coming back from ACL surgery. Kyle had a speedy and successful recovery from an injury that can be a career ending one and has show his determination, natural ability, and dedication to the sport of BMX. Kyle has been looking towards winning races and titles in 2007, as he has come on strong and just sits 4 points out of 1st in the NBL title chase and the Worlds are always on Kyle list of races to peak for. As Kyle arrived in Victoria to the track on Thursday, he took a liking to the track and seemed to master it quickly on the 1st day of practice. Kyle by far looked the quickest but as anyone knows this is BMX racing and anything can happen. Well for Kyle the only thing that happened as the race started was 1st place finishes, as he won every race of the day on Saturday as the Elite Men's racing took place. As the main event was lined up on the gate, it was anyone's race to win, but all eyes were on Kyle as his dominating style had the crowd as their favorite. When the gate dropped, Kyle jumped to the lead with Aussie Khalen Young and Stumpy just behind. Kyle edged out both riders into the 1st turn and Khalen gave Kyle a run, but was unable to pass him. Down the last strait, Kyle pulled away and captured his 3rd UCI World Title. Kyle was overwhelmed with joy, as all his hard work had a huge payoff and the win puts him back into the World Champion jersey. Kyle looks forward to a year with the rainbow jersey and hopes to be able to replace it with a Olympic Medal in one year time. Kyle's sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, Bombshell, www.bmxtraining.com, Sun Rims, Shimano, UGP, Kenda, Thomson, S & M bars, ODI, ORP, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Randy Stumpfhauser is known as a one of the top Pros in the world due to the fact that he is a World Specialist with 4 Elite Cruiser World Titles and 2 2nd's and 3 3rd's in the Elite Men's Class over the years. Randy gave up racing Cruiser 2 years ago on a quest to get the Elite Men's title and this has been dangerous for all the other Elite Pros as Randy has fully focused on one bike. Coming into the event, Randy was hoping he would be 100% ready, as just 2 weeks ago at the ABA event in Las Vegas, a crash in the AA Pro main event on Saturday left Randy with a sore wrist and had him sit out of the racing action on Sunday. Randy healed up find and was ready to race for the title at the Worlds. On Practice day, Randy did not seem to have the track 100% wired at the end of the day, but come race time, Randy was flawless and ready to go. As race day unfolded, Stumpy looked great on the track and made his way to the main event look easy. Randy was looking for a title but was very happy to make it to the Podium as he raced his way to a 3rd place finish. Randy noted he did feel his fastest on race day but to watch him finish 3rd, you would never have guessed that. Randy was ecstatic for his finish as well as the win for Kyle. Randy will now get ready for the next huge event of 2007, as him, as well as all the other Double A Marketing Pro riders will head off to Beijing, China in 2 weeks for the next round of the UCI Supercross series on the Olympic BMX track. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Kenda, SINZ Racing, ODI, Tangent, Sun Rims, Bombshell, Fly Racing, Powerbar, OGIO, SDG, SRAM, Cyto Sport, and BMXpros.com.
Joey Bradford is not a rider who makes up excuses and just does what he needs to when it comes to racing. Joey has been looking forward to racing the Junior Elite Class all season and was the clear favorite to take home the gold. He is also one who is always ready for anything and the Worlds was just a situation. A week before the event, Joey had a crash in training that jammed his hand and wrist and a day before the event, as it didn't get any better, Joey went to have it check out and found out that he had broken 2 bones, 1 in his hand and one in his wrist. Joey had a hard decision to make and decided to give it a go and try to see if he could race at the World Championship. Joey did very little practice up to the day of racing, but one the racing stated, you would have never known it, as he looked smooth on the track and was out front a lot in qualifying. Joey was in a lot of pain, but he tried to work through it. Joey was able to make it to the main event and when the gate dropped, Joey had the lead and had a good lap up to the last turn, where he bonked a jump and was unable to pull on the bars, and slowed down just enough to get passed. Joey was able to hold on and finish 2nd. Joey showed true tenacity racing with this injury and had an incredible day with the 2nd place finish. Joey's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Fly Racing, Oakley, Bombshell, THE Products, Sun Ringle, Kenda, SDG, FSA, Sponsorhouse, Powerbar, Cyto Sport, Circle E, SRAM, OGIO, Sirius Satellite Radio, JoeyBradford.com, and BMXpros.com

Press Release / Public Announcement from Park Orchards BMX Club, Eastern Region
and BMX Victoria:
Following consideration of the likelihood of ongoing wet weather, and the consequent
difficulty of providing an appropriate venue for the upcoming final round of the Eastern
Region’s Metro Plate series the Park Orchards BMX Club and the Eastern Region have
agreed to transfer the venue of that race meeting to Eastfield BMX clubs track.
This decision is made recognizing the need to have the track and spectator facilities in
premium condition for the forthcoming Victorian Interclub race meeting, leading up to
the WD40 Victorian Open State Championships later in the year. The ongoing spectator
area alterations (already delayed due to rain) are due to be completed by mid-August as
are some enhancements to the race track, including tuning of the Pro Section.
Transferring of the Metro Plate race meeting will allow the spectator area surfaces to
consolidate without the probable set-back of heavy foot traffic within only a few weeks
of it being finished, and for the track mod’s to be appropriately tested.
This decision has been reached by Park Orchards and the Eastern Region, in conjunction
with BMX Victoria, and considering the cost to the Park Orchards club and the impact on
the reputations of the Eastern Region and BMX Victoria has obviously not been made
lightly.
Park Orchards BMX Club gratefully acknowledge the cooperation and assistance of
Eastfield BMX Club in reaching this resolution.
The hosts of the event will continue to be the Park Orchards BMX Club and entries
should be posted to their PO Box address.
All enquiries regarding this change of venue should be directed to Park Orchards Club –
Pam Beerens 0427 516 863 or Rob Symmons 0401 211 833.
