The BSX2008 DVD's are currently available through BMXMAD (www.bmxmad.com.au) or through bmxultra.com. BSX2006, BSX2007 and BSX2008 DVD's are available at $20 each (plus postage). All three DVD's will be bundled together for a special price of $45.
Profits from sales of the DVD's will go back into the track to make the event bigger and better than ever. We have already rebuilt the starting hill the next step is to rebuild the track for even more fun.
Here's the lowdown on the DVD
BSX2008, ran in January, was the third annual one-on-one sprint trials race run at Kinglake (Australia), about 60kms north east of Melbourne's CBD. The event is a fundraiser for the Royal Children's Hospital.
The DVD is 65 minutes long with every run captured on two cameras. It's more of a documentary of what went down than a highlights package, but has plenty of highlights in the intro and great crash highlights in the crash section.
DVD features:
DVD Trailer/Preview
We have a high quality downloadable version if the intro from the DVD which runs for just over 4 minutes. It's a very big download, if you have dial up you should find another way to get hold of it.
The reason the file is so big is so we don't lose picture quality, there won't be a smaller version of the file available.
Click here to download the 64Mb Windows Media file.
Lost Orders/Enquiries
If you have emailed us regarding the DVD's and haven't heard anything back yet, sorry for the inconvenience, we aren't ignoring you. Between our spam filters and clumsy fingers we have lost some of your email.
Please be aware that while BMXMAD may not list the DVD on their online store however you can email or call them for purchase details.
If you would like to order direct from bmxultra.com please send another email.

When: Monday 19th January 2009 (During Track Attack week)
Where: Pheasant Creek (60kms North East of Melbourne's CBD)
Classes: Open Men, Open Women, 30 & Over open wheel
Why: The BSX is a fund raising event for the Royal Children's Hospital
The story so far...
You might have noticed that we haven't been pushing the BSX as hard this year as we have in prior years, that's because we are being careful that everything will fall into place before getting everyone all excited only to have to put a stop to the event. We are confident that it will go ahead, but each year it gets a little harder.
It's not easy running an event in a residential area, you would think it was wouldn't you? I know I did when Craig Merritt and myself came up with this idea. People run BBQ's in their backyard all the time. They have birthday parties, Grand finals parties and so on, but they don't need permits for that. They don't have to pay hundred's of dollars to get council approval then give the residents a chance to appeal against the running of the event. They also don't have to pay hundred's ...actually thousands of dollars for Public Liability insurance. They don't have to have the right number of toilets, a traffic plan, a parking plan. They also don't have to go out chasing sponsors for prizes for various fund raising activities.
We'd love to say that if we don't get council approval we can just have a BBQ, but we have already been fined $500 by the council for the running of the first BSX without a permit. We're sure the second time will be a bigger fine and that's coming out of the money raised for the Royal Children's Hospital which is one of the primary reasons for running the event in the first place.
The last major piece of the puzzle should fall into place this week, hopefully. We are just checking with the local council that we will have the opportunity to run the event again before we have to pay out the $500 application fee.
As we have said all along we are confident that the event will go ahead as it has for the last three years, but we are just being extra careful.
BMX Australia and BMX Victoria supporting BSX2009
For the first ever BMX Australia and BMX Victoria will be officially supporting BSX, we are grateful for their support. Not only will it help us keep our insurance costs down and maximise our profits (100% of profits from the event are donated to the Royal Children's Hospital) it will also help legitimise the event.
We will need to have the track reassessed before the event, but the track was assessed by BMX Australia officials in 2007 and passed, we have made many improvements since then.
Rider list
What we do need is some help from you guys. If you think you will be able to make it to BSX2009 and compete email us your name, your class and where you are from and we'll put you on the list. This isn't an official entry list, it's more of an expression of interest. Official entry forms will be available around December.
Open Men
Jhy Denholm - Vic
Maddie Denholm - Vic
Jacob (Shorty) Price - QLD
Brandan Bullows - Vic
30 & Over Open wheel

Jamie Bullows - Vic

Starting Hill rebuilt
One of the things that we needed to do for BSX2009 was to change the starting hill to give riders a little more speed and to make it a little easier for riders and officials to get around. That has been completed now. Jamie Bullows had created a starting hill for us which served well through the first 3 BSX events, his design and build was used as the basis of the new hill. The new hill is yet to be painted but has taken 3 full days and two people to complete. I must take this opportunity to thank Dean Coles for his hard work and the long hours.
With the hill completed we will try to get more dirt in to change the track to cope with the extra speed. The date for this is yet to be determined.
Partnership opportunities
If you are interested in becoming a BSX partner we have many packages available, contact us at webmaster@bmxultra.com for details.

Sunday will mark the Second running of the Eastfield Experience, the biggest prize pool of any race on the Victorian race calendar. The sort of money they have up for grabs should attract riders from all over Australia. Although rider count didnt quite live up to expectation in 2007 it certainly left people talking, here's hoping that it grows for 2008. The club and it's sponsors have put a lot on the line so it would be great if the event could build momentum and secure it's position of Victoria's richest race meeting for years to come.
$5000+ prize pool break down
As a bonus for money class riders (excluding Open Wheel) if you make the semi and still miss out on the main you won't go home empty handed, you will pretty much earn your entry fee back.
With that sort of money on the line you can expect some tight racing.
Where: Colchester Road, Kilsyth, Victoria (Melway 51 E7)
When: Sunday 28th September (Racing starts at 10am)
Check out the entry form in our race calendar for more information.
SE Bikes press release
The Quadangle started out its life in 1979 as the STR-1. The STR-1 was Stu Thomsen’s signature bike. which stood for “Stu Thompson Replica 1.” Stu went on to win the 1979 the first ever ABA #1 pro title later that year on the Quadangle.
Now here we are almost 30 years later & it’s now available in a 24” version. This bike is super limited being that there will only be 250 available in the USA. You may have seen DC’s matte black version of the 24” Quad Loop earlier this year. As you can see, we completely flipped the script & went with a classy white frame & fork matched with chrome parts & white pads. This bike has more class than a chemistry professor.
Get your order in now as we are releasing these to shops this week. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Oh, and check out the bottle opener in the rear of the seat. You know, for when you get thirsty on your rides…

Two big days of racing in Cairns this weekend were a prelude to one of the biggest events in Australia, the 2008 BMX Queensland State Titles to be held next weekend in Far North Queensland.
Cairns rider, Ronnie Dugdell, showed his current top form by taking out the Pro men’s race today ahead of Ashley Pemberton from Townsville. Third was Cairns club youngster, Joseph Costa.
The reigning world junior bronze medallist, Rachel Bracken from Townsville, took out the pro women’s race. Second was current 15 world champion, Melinda McLeod from Mackay. Third place getter was Bridget Warren from Proserpine.
The weekend carnival attracted 255 riders from as far away as Gold Coast to Mt Isa. For the state championships a record 899 entries have been received.
Paul Ince, President of the Cairns BMX Club, said this weekend’s racing offered ideal preparation for all riders.
“Everyone was using it for practice laps of the track. We’ve put on a new surface just after the wet season and it is holding together well.” said Ince.
Cairns track has been rebuilt this year in an attempt to prepare the riders for some of the bigger jumps coming into top level competitions.
“We thought we would get our rider’s ready for the bigger jumps in the future,” explained Ince. “The challenging decider section is similar to a professional section and offered talented riders a short cut during some of the races today.”
The Cairns club and volunteers were pleased with rider’s reports on the track.
“We got a lot of positive comments about the track. Everything went well and we’ve got extra seating and marquees now all ready for the states,” said Ince.
The state championships get underway on Wednesday with the pre-titles then racing continues on Friday until Sunday. On Saturday morning the first round of the National Hog’s Breath Café Probikx and Champbikx Series will see the elite riders of the future out to gain some valuable points.
Other Cairns riders with wins were Jake Cooper (8 boys), Mitchell Hoad, (9 boys and mighty nines), Samantha Ince (11 girls), Nathan Knight (13-14 cruiser, 14 boys);Benjamin Van Den Hooven (15 boys), Shaun Gray (19 boys), Paul Priddy (25+ cruiser), Leanne Van Den Hooven (ladies cruiser) and Paul Ince (30 +).

"I'm psyched to be working with Zach again. We made a great team during our time together at Sun and he's got big things already rollin’ with Alienation. I just want to come on board and continue Alienation’s forward momentum and help gain additional market share and recognition," stated Birk.

We managed to get our hands on some early release photos of some of the products that Supercross BMX will have on display at Interbike.
The Racerhead Micro stem for the little guy racer, if the Racerhead stem is anything to go by this is going to be very popular. "They are 1" steertube only and are available in 25mm reach to start and are super light at only 4.8 ounces with regular grade 8 steel SHCS."
Also the 2009 EVO iS frame which borrows heavily from the advancements of the G6e. When you take a look check out the head tube and the drop outs you will see what I mean. We got a little extra insider information for you too. Straight from the horses mouth:
"The weight is around the same [as the current EVO iS], we shaved a few ounces by losing the internal gusset, but added the same back by thicking up the downtube and top tube. We then lost a whole 18 grams by backside CNCing the dropouts like the S7 and the G6e, and then we shaved a bit by going with the zip tie cable guides rather than the split cable. The old iS frame will be on the Icon complete still for a little while."
Stock colors will be the Black, Pearl White, Racing Red, Oil Slick Blue, Mirror Polish and Sammy Cools Pink.
If you can't catch them at Interbike, check out the Supercross BMX website at www.supercrossbmx.com
Crupi press release

This is the first time in nearly 10 years that Crupi will have a booth at Interbike and we are excited even if it is on a small scale. We will have Crupi bikes and our new Rhythm wheels and cranks on display! Our booth number is 5220 so if you plan to attend the bike show, please stop by and say hello! The best days to catch us at the booth are Wednesday the 24th and Friday the 26th as we will be out at our appointments on Thursday the 25th.
We look forward to seeing you there!
ABA press release
The American Bicycle Association is proud to announce this year’s inductees to the ABA BMX Hall of Fame. The ABA is in its 31st year of operations as the largest BMX sanction in the world. The ABA BMX Hall of Fame began in 1985 and is now in its 24th year. The annual ABA BMX Hall of Fame Banquet takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma at ABA`s host hotel, the Crowne Plaza, This event is the first of many great events over the ABA BMX Grands weekend and takes place on Wednesday November 26th 2:00pm. Seats are very limited to the first 200 people so be sure to get there early!
This year, the ABA BMX Hall`O Fame welcomes the following people for their contributions to the sport of BMX:
Marvin Church: Began his BMX career in the early 70’s, when the only bike to race was a Schwinn Stingray with 4 inch cranks. Marvin and his dad are credited with building the first straight-tube BMX frame in 1972, as well as cutting cranks apart and welding them to the future standard of 7 inches. He briefly rode for the famous Dirt Masters team. Marvin was a pioneer in the mono-shock and sidehack era. He also rode for Rick’s Bike Shop, Kawasaki, and Shimano. After years of retirement, Marvin came back in the early 80’s, racing cruisers for Mongoose. Marvin still shows up to race every few years in the older cruiser classes.
Brian Lopes: Starting at the ripe age of 4 1/2 years old, Brian took his Schwinn Pixie and Rams football helmet to the track at Saddleback Park in California, and the rest is history. From that day, he was a hard core racer until he turned 8 years old. He stopped racing, but was still active at the local jumps in the neighborhood. At age 10, Brian came back into the sport full-force, and started hitting the National scene. Riding for a local bike shop, future BMX Hall of Famer Toby Henderson would help the team out with their gate starts. That is where he noticed Brian and introduced him to the folks at SE Racing. At the age of 17, Brian was looking for a new challenge in racing and decided to turn Pro. His first Pro race, he scored a second, and within 5 races, Brian was AA. While sponsored by Elf Bicycles, Brian was enjoying the Pro life. He then moved on to Mongoose Bicycles, Brian had heard how ex-BMXers were making a good living racing mountain bikes. Mongoose, gave him a shot and the rest is history. Brian has won many national and world titles in the mountain bike world. At one time, he held the world record for bunny hopping and jumping on a BMX bicycle.
Jon & Chuck Raudman: Owners/founders of Skyway Products, of Redding, CA. Revolutionized the wheel business with the introduction of the light weight (compared to MotoMags) and (mostly) indestructible Skyway Tuff wheels. Makers of the state of the art T/A Frameset (circa 1982); it was one of the most well thought BMX frames at the time, utilizing tear drop and tapered True Temper tubing. They had a major impact on the freestyle frenzy of the mid 80’s introducing a variety of colors that would influence the entire 20-inch juvenile market. Supported the sport of BMX through sponsorship, from the early MT. Dew Demo Team, to their Skyway race team (which helped put Hall of Famer Cheri Elliott on the map), along with the Skyway freestyle team in the late 80’s (featuring Robert Peterson, Eddie Roman and Matt Hoffman). To this day, they continue to manufacture Tuff Wheels for the bicycle, lawn and garden and healthcare industries. They are also doing a re-issue of their ground breaking Skyway TA frame sets.
The ABA would like to thank all the voters, fans, racers, and industry for their participation. We would also like to send a HUGE congratulation to the newest ABA BMX Hall of Fame inductees!

BMX was quite common in the media in the mid 80's, you can probably list off at least three 80's films which included kids riding around on BMX bikes. There's Rad (or Helltrack as it was known in Aus), BMX Bandits, and ET, there were a whole lot of other films that BMX showed up in. One of those films was made in Australia and included Henry Thomas (who played Elliot) from ET, called Frog Dreaming. Our own webmaster Shane Jenkins was one of those riders. It seems the film has made it's way to YouTube.

Interbike is the biggest bike show in America and it isn't far away now. The fact that there are a whole bunch of new products being leaked is a pretty good indicator of that.
I was looking through the S&M website and found this photo. Now when former bmxstars.com rider Dean Coles drilled the crossbar out on his handlebars to save weight everyone laughed. It seems that he could have just been ahead of his time. By the below caption it looks as if we will see a lot more of the Honeycomb bar.
From S&M Bikes website
Here is a new "Lumberjack Slam" handlebar...it's 9" X 32" and the same weight as a normal Slam XLT thanks to our new "Honeycomb" crossbar design. We are also working a a whole frame with this new 4Q Baked tube set. Stay tuned...we'll have it at Interbike.

The bmxultra.com crew have been keeping busy racing the regional races through the winter months in Victoria.
Jamie Bullows, #1 Australia in the 35-39 mens class, took the series win at the Northern Rivers Regional Championship final in the 30 & Over Open wheel and pocketed some nice cash to make all the travel through rural Victoria just that little bit easier.
Brandan Bullows was getting amongst it in the 14 & Over money class through the Northern Rivers Regional Championships and landed a berth in the overall final. Although he only managed 8th he rode very well against more seasoned competitors. Expect to hear more of Brandan in the future as his hunger to get amongst the money and confidence grows.
Shane Jenkins only raced a few meetings here and there through the winter, still trying to find form after injuring his ankle in April. The weekend after the Olympics Shane was followed around by Whittlesea Leader newspaper photographer Travis McCue who was taking photos for "Game Day" which put BMX head to head with Australian Rules Football in a two page photographic spread. It was BMX that won out with a nice big BMX photo on the cover of the paper. Some of the photos can be viewed here. The first half are from a backyard bash on the Saturday and the racing photos are from a regional event at the South Eastern BMX track the following day. http://fun.leadernews.com.au/gameday/display.php?p=whittleseabmx

NBL press release
The National Bicycle League (NBL) would like to thank everyone who attended the 2008 NBL Grand National with special shout-out to all of our sponsors, volunteers, Derby City BMX, and everyone who spent their Labor Day weekend with us. This year’s gathering served up more entertainment, more excitement and culminated with the crowning of many new NBL National Champions. Only nine ’07 Amateur champions were able to retain their titles and the NBL crowned four new Pro Champions.
For the riders, the weekend was what BMX Racing is all about – good times and great racing. NBL added extra events this year including the successful UGP Open Championship on Friday, the Hall of Fame on Saturday and an Old School Bike museum on the weekend. During the Pro Spectacular on Saturday evening, NBL served up contests and games for the fans including the popular Intense/BAWLS Build-a-Bike Contest which proved to be a huge hit again. Fans were treated to a pro autograph session held before the race and the NBL booth was crowded with tons of fans who were excited to meet the stars and get signatures on all kinds of memorabilia. On Saturday evening, Stu Thomsen, Greg Esser and Kathy Schachel were inducted into the NBL Hall of Fame and the three also played an integral part of the event. Now, on to the results >
Pro Men – Stumpy earns his 2nd NBL Pro Title
Coming off a physically and emotionally tough season, GT’s Randy Stumpfhauser showed that he can deliver the clutch win when it counts. Stumpy took Friday’s Pro race with a vengeance and then won the Grands edging out Free Agent’s Cristian Becerine in a thrilling wire-to-wire dual. It was Randy’s 2nd NBL Pro title, the first came in 2003, and he also picked up a cool $250 for winning the Rennen Design Holeshot award. Becerine, the season’s most consistent rider, and Race Place BMX’s Jason Richardson earned the 2nd and 3rd place titles respectively.
Pro Women – Barragan halts Hayashi’s winning streak at five
Redman’s Amanda Geving overtook France’s Amélie Despaux to win the Pro Women’s Grands main – her best outing of the year, but Race Place BMX’s Stephanie Barragan had already secured the title and in the process put an end to Kim Hayashi’s streak of 5 wins-in-a-row. Props to Hayashi whos 5 titles will stand the test of time – Unfortunately, Lil’ Kim was unable to race due to injury. Kovachi’s Madison Pitts and Kenda/BAWLS’ Rachel ‘Thunder’ Smith earned the 2nd and 3rd place titles.
Masters - Fallen and Holmes settle their season-long rivalry in the main
The Masters class continues to get faster and tougher each year. 2007 Champ, Redline’s Jason Carnes, was lucky enough just to attend the Grands from an injury-riddled year and watched as Supercross’s Kenth Fallen and Free Agent’s Dale Holmes each made their run for the title. Holmes, who is the reigning World Champion, won Friday’s Pro Event and looked like the favorite but a crash in the Grands main handed the title to Fallen who won the race and the Master’s crown for 2008. Holmes settled for 2nd overall and Formula’s Tim Dinger was 3rd on the year.
Super-Ex - Olympic hopeful Fox wins Super-Ex and moves up to Pro Men
In the super-stacked Super-ex class, Ecuador’s Fausto Endara won the main event and Intense/Phantom On-Trac’s Kris Fox snagged the title. Fox, who was part of the Olympic long team, will now move up to the full-blown pro ranks after beating out heavy hitters like Haro’s Logan Collins and Felt’s Matt Kelty, who earned the 2nd and 3rd spots overall. Collins came into the Grands with the best chance to challenge Fox for the title but an injury two weeks prior to the Grands prevented him from racing at 100%.
Team Titles – How the West won it all
The battle for the National and Team NBL teams came to an exciting end and two new Champions, both based out of the West, were crowned. Intense/Phantom On-Trac came into the Grands leading six-time National Team Champions, Dan’s Competition, by a mere four points. After the dust had finally settled, the Western-based Intense/Phantom On-Trac squad came away with the win and their first NBL National Team title. Dan’s settled for 2nd and Factory Felt rounded out the podium with the 3rd overall.
In the Team NBL division, HBR/SE had their sights on winning the Team NBL title – A title that slipped away from them only one year ago. Extreme Sports/Answer led the chase coming into the Grands and it once again came down to another West vs. East battle. HBR/SE turned in the best sheet of the day but in the end, the West would walk away with the 2008 Team NBL title. Extreme Sports/Answer was declared the winner with HBR/SE playing runner-up. Audiobahn/JustgoBMX.com knocked off last year’s champions, VBS-Kenda, for third on the season.
To mark the end of another excellent season, the NBL awarded huge trophies to Grands winners and Hotshoppe Designs awarded #1 Champion Jerseys to all overall Amateur class champions.

Randy Stumpfhauser wins NBL #1 Elite Pro Title, Becerine finishes 2nd
The 2008 NBL season concluded this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky and it was a battle down to the last turn, as Randy Stumpfhauser and Cristian Becerine were both going for the NBL #1 Pro title. The NBL Season has been highlighted with Olympic qualifiers and some of the best racing in NBL History and the NBL Grands Main event would become the decision maker for the 2008 #1 Pro. Both Randy and Cristian were both ready to race it out for the title, while Danny Caluag was attending to support the NBL series sponsor Intense BMX and Bawls Guarana and be a factor come main event time. Here is how each of the 3 finished up the NBL season at the Grand Nationals.
Randy Stumpfhauser has had one of his best and disappointing seasons in 2008. Randy, like all other eager USA BMX’ers had dreamed of being part of the USA Olympic team for the past 4 years since the announcement of BMX in the games. Unfortunately, after being one of the favorites to earn a spot on the team, Randy suffered 2 back to back injuries that caused him to have to make the toughest decision of his BMX career, and to pass on is Olympic dreams. Randy then put his focus to the NBL 2008 Pro title, and this past weekend, he earned the title and made his focus and decision an excellent choice. Things started out in a great way for Randy on Friday night, as the NBL held its last Pro Series event before the NBL Grands Pro Spectacular on Saturday night. Randy sat just 7 points being series leader Cristina Becerine before the night started and needed to get a 5th or better in the main event to gain points to help him have a shot at the title. Randy, in his usually fashion, was out front just about every lap of his qualifiers and stormed his way into the main event. When the gate dropped, Randy was out front and untouchable. With the win, Randy gained 8 points and moved just one ahead of Cristian for the year end title. It would all come down to who ever did better at the Grands main event. Randy carried that momentum into Saturday night’s Grand National finial event. In the 2nd moto, Randy actually crashed when a fellow racer went down just in front of him in the Pro Section. Randy was able to get up, unscathed, finish the lap in 5th, and go on to win the last qualifying round, propelling him into the main event. When the Pros lined up for the main event, not one knew what exciting racing was about to happen. Randy took the early lead, with Cristian stuck in 5th going into the first turn, and it looked as if it was an easy run away win for Randy, but Cristian took the most incredible line in the first turn and came out in 2nd, just behind Randy. Randy rode the lap of his life, holding off the hard charge from Cristian and won the main event. The result gave Randy the points to earn his 2nd NBL #1 title. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Bombshell, ODI, Tangent, Fly Racing, Sinz Racing, Shimano, GO211.com, OGIO, Cyto Sport, SDG, Sharp, Sun Ringle, and BMXPros.com
Cristian Becerine season has also been one of great results, as Cristian not only came back from a season opener, where his NBL license was expired and losing points from 2 3rd place finishes to take the lead in the NBL points after the last weekend of the NBL Pro series event in Nashville, but he just retuned from the Olympics where he represented Argentina in the BMX Race. Cristian, the 2007 NBL #2 Élite Pro waned to up his overall ranking, went into the Friday night main event hoping to hold onto his lead, but with him finishing 3rd and Randy winning, event thought he gained a few points, he would sit just one point out of the title chase. Saturdays race went well for Cristian, as he won all of his races throughout the day and looked to be ready to take home the win and National title. Unfortunately, even thought he rode his heart out in the main event, he was only able to finish 2nd, just behind Randy and miss out on the title. Cristian showed the true sportsman he is, by congratulating Randy on is win and title. Cristian is one of he sports true great all around racers and his time for a title will come very soon. Cristian's sponsors include Free Agent, KHS, Fly Racing, SINZ, Kenda, THE Products, ODI, Sun Ringle, Shimano, Cyto Sport, S & M bars, OGIO, Thomson, and BMXpros.com
Danny Caluag attended the NBL Grands to see if he could make his first full season on the NBL Pro circuit a success. Danny had missed a few events to attend some ABA events and due to injury, so he was on the minimum amount of races to even qualify him for an overall national number in the Elite Class. Danny was able to race his way into the main event at the Saturday night Grands main event and finished up 8th, giving him the points to finish up the season in the National #9 spot. Danny, who currently leads both the ABA points in AA Pro and the Pro Cruiser class, is looking to make history with back to back double Pro title wins in the ABA. Look for Danny to focus on the rest of the ABA events in 2008 and hopefully rewrite the record books once again. Danny's Sponsors include Intense BMX, BAWLS Guarana, Fly Racing, Skull Candy, Shimano, THE Products, SINZ Racing, Intense Tyre Systems, OGIO, Cyto Sport, Thomson, Oakley, GO211.com, S & M Bars, and BMXpros.com
Steven Cisar was not at the NBL Grands, but at the ABA National event in Reno, Nevada. Steven raced a huge group of top AA Pros who did not attend the NBL Grands and had a great weekend. On Saturday, Steven finished up 3rd overall in AA and on Sunday, he did one better with a 2nd in the AA Pro class. Steven looks forward to the upcoming Dew Action Sports tour in Salt Lake City, where he will compete in the BMX Supercross event and hope to move up in the overall ranking in the UCI series. Steven’s sponsors include Haro Bikes, Rockstar Energy Drinks, Troy Lee Designs, Vans, SINZ, Tangent, THE Products, Intense Tyre Systems, Time, Alex Rims, Oakley, and BMXpros.com

The American Bicycle Association hosted the Blackjack Nationals this past weekend, August 29-31, in Reno, NV at the Reno Livestock Events Center, which is main stay on the ABA BMX tour for over 20 years. The Blackjack Nationals have a long-standing history with the racers and fans alike. RENO is always a must attend for the racers and this year they were treated to a unique track design. Billy Allen and the boys really mixed it up and we were told by many it was one of the best indoor tracks of the year. With the 2008 Olympic debut for BMX racing being a HUGE hit, the buzz, the hype, and the media were all around. The fans were treated to a surprise visit from past ABA BMX Champion, Team USA rider, and Olympic Bronze medalist "dR" Donny Robinson. ABA President, Clayton John presented Donny with a $5000 check from the ABA BMX Olympic Medalist Program for earning a bronze medal in Beijing. Then ABA BMX "ACE" announcer and Olympic announcer, Mike "REDBONE" Redman interviewed "dR" on the Olympic experience. Donny stated "I raced my first ever BMX national in the this building.", he also stated "I turned PRO in this building, I won my first PRO and AA PRO race in this very building." He then went on to say "This place feels like a home coming for me." The fans were going crazy and the whole crowd could be heard chanting USA, USA, USA!!! If you weren't there, you missed out BIG TIME!
Then "dR" was off to do autographs and ABA had plenty of the Donny Robinson Team USA trading cards on hand for the fans as well. Donny was greeted by thousands of fans and signed autographs for hours. There were 100's of fans still lined up to meet Donny even after the last main event was run. Donny was so blown away that he elected to come back the next day to make sure each and every one of his fans were taken care of. Hats off to Donny Robinson for being a real trooper and a great ambassador to our great sport. A big congrats from the entire ABA BMX family to Donny for all his Olympic accomplishments.
Saturday- AA PRO goes like this, Redline's new main man proved a lot of the internet critics wrong and took his first ever AA PRO win in Reno. Big Congrats to Denzel and we're sure it won't be his last win. Not by a long shot. This kid has a big, big future in our sport. The 2nd spot went Haro's very own Steven Cisar, Steven is fresh off a great Olympic team run, so it was nice to see him back on the ABA BMX PRO tour. The 3rd went to fellow Haro teammate Khalen Young. "KY" is a force on the track and can win at any time. He's said several times he wants the ABA BMX PRO Title and the way he's been riding, he looks to be on track come ABA Grands time!
Sunday we had Haro's Khalen Young back on top the podium. This makes his 4th win of the season on the ABA BMX PRO tour. 2nd went to another stand out this season. Clayborn's Barry "The Alabama Slamma" Nobles was laying down the power to stay in the ABA PRO Title hunt. Talking with Barry, he's another rider that wants the ABA National #1 plate on his bike! 3rd went to Steven Cisar. Steven has been very impressive since he turned PRO. He's got style for miles and he puts the "MOTO" back in Bicycle Motocross. From whips to scrubs, Cisar is hard to match in this department. And trust me when I say this, the kid can rip on a 450 too! If this kid wins the ABA BMX PRO title and the New Suzuki RMZ450 that goes with it, watch out SX!
On the Ladies PRO side we saw Formula's Alise "The Beast" Post back on top both days. Alise has had a rough season but is getting back to her winning form. She hasn't won all those ABA BMX titles for nothing and you can be sure she plans on winning another one this season. The 2nd went to fellow Formula rider and Utah's own Arielle Martin. Arielle has definitely made her presents known back on the ABA BMX PRO tour. In her last two events she's done no worse than 2nd place. Four starts and four podiums! That's a good Formula for an ABA BMX PRO title win. Arielle's been living at the Olympic Training Center and her riding is stronger than ever. She's already started training for the 2012 OLYMPICS! Arizona's own and current ABA National #1 girl and girl cruiser turned PRO, Dominique Daniels, scored 3rd on Saturday. Dominique has been a podium main stay this season and with her finishes in Reno, she is still very focused on the ABA PRO title. GT's Rachel Luna rode solid as usual and is always floating around the podium. Rachel's solid riding took her to a 3rd on Sunday. Not too shabby for a BMX MOM eh?? The ladies racing has really stepped it up over the last couple of years and with the new crop of younger woman moving up, the future of the Women's PRO class is very promising.
Pro Cruiser went down like this, Clayborn's Barry Nobles was flat out handling things. "The Alabama Slamma" took the win both days and creeps ever so close to current ABA PRO Cruiser Champ Danny C. in the points chase. Redman's Pauly Lange was back on the podium with a 2nd on day #1. Day #2 saw another rookie PRO Intense/Phantom/ON-TRAC rider "Factory" Matt Baisley take his first PRO podiums in Reno. Matt placed a solid 3rd in A PRO on Saturday and a 2nd in PRO Cruiser on Sunday. Matt's been improving with every race for sure and Reno paid off for him. 3rd on Day #1 went to Santa Clara PAL local Mike Hughes. Mike always gets some of the loudest cheers in Reno do to his Santa Clara PAL fan club. Good job for Mike. Day #2 went to Action Sports Depot rider "Brutal" Billy Anderson. Billy's been a favorite out on the internet scene and I'm sure all his fans were stoked for him on the weekend!
Vet Pro was back in action too! Hurricane's Paul Caldwell laid down some serious horsepower on day #1 for his first win of the season. If this guy ever decides to race for the ABA BMX VET PRO title he would definitely be a contender. He is strong, fit, and solid as a rock! Intense/Phantom/ON-TRAC's Chad Street was consistent all weekend. Chad nailed down the second on day #1 and took the big win on day #2. Chad's always a front runner in the class and is looking to take his first ever ABA BMX VET PRO title. Day #2 also saw Action Sports Depot rider, Mike Gul bring home a solid second. Mike looked great all weekend and it was good to see this ABA BMX PRO Tour veteran on the podium in Reno. Day #1 saw Reno local and Big Tool rider Scott "Spanker" Simmons take his first VET Podium of the season. "Spanker" is a Reno crowd favorite and known for "KEEPING IT REAL" with his flat pedals. GHP's Robert " The Rajun Cajun" Harris was back on the podium as well. Robert has been a super solid rider in the VET PRO class this season and now sits in the top 5 in points after Reno.
Reno once again proved just how deep the talent pool is on the ABA BMX PRO tour. There have been seven different AA PRO winners in eight stops. That's very impressive!
The ABA, the city of Reno, NV. and the entire ABA BMX crew would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Great Salt Lake National event such a huge success! Next stop on the ABA BMX PRO Tour, Golden State Nationals in Lancaster - California, October 3-5. We hope to see you all there!

BMX Victoria press release
There's just over two weeks to go to get in an 'Early Bird' entry for the 2008 Victorian Open BMX Championships (a.k.a. State Titles). The cut-off date is the 25th September.
All entries received by then go into a draw to get back the full amount of their entry fee. Particularly good value for those with several riders in the family, and those entering multiple classes.
Please let your members know too that as the entries come in they are being listed on www.bmxv.com.au
This list is being updated several times a week so people can check that their entry has been received and that their class details etc are all correct.
If Victorian riders wish to compete in the National Titles next year, or the World Titles, then they must compete in the 2008 State Titles to qualify. Entries close on the last post, 6th November 2008. No late entries will be accepted.
04/09 Ryan Birk leaves Sun Ringle' BMX
Sun Ringle press release
After 11 years at the helm of the BMX division of Sun Ringle’ BMX, Ryan Birk is leaving the brand he helped develop into a staple in the BMX industry.
“It was an extremely tough decision for me to leave the brand that I have put everything I had into for the past decade or so, but I feel this is in my best interests and the best interests of my wife and son.” Said Birk.
No word yet on what Birk’s next move will be but he did say, “I still plan to be involved with BMX in some way, it’s all Natarsha and I know. And I hope to get to race more next season, but it will be weird not wearing a Sun Ringle’ jersey anymore.”
Sun Ringle’ Racing Components is a division of the Hayes Bicycle Group Mequon WI.

At this stage it's full steam ahead for BSX2009, Australia's only one on one sprint trails race. The event is very successful in rasing money for the Royal Children's Hospital. Psykopath press release
We are very excited to be sponsoring Olympic athletes here in Psykopath, Augusto Castro and Sergio Salazar, were in China representing Columbia and Psykopath. Psykopath has always been around since the early 80's since Carl the owner got the BMX bug in him, from just a neighborhood street club, that later became a small local race team when Carl's three boys started racing in the 90's, Then in Mid 2004 Carl decided to start a full factory race and street team and design frames from the riders themselves.
He knew he wanted to recruit the best talent out there with a very small budget. We recruited a handful of A Pro's with promising BMX careers, and since Carl is from Columbia, and new the U.S. team already had deep talent he recruited a number of riders form South America. It's been a long trip to this point for us, back in 2004 Psykopath started sponsoring a couple of South American riders Damian Lopez, Gustavo Lopez, then U.S. Olympic Long team member Randy Stumphauser held a Sprint Trails Race on his own Backyard. That's were we introduced Augusto Castro, Sergio Salazar, Damian Lopez, and our goal was to design the best race frame on the market, and get our boys in the Beijing Olympic Games in 08. This is where it all started.
Looking back to that race you can see Olympic Sliver Medalist Mike Day, and many other Olympic hopefuls, that race marked a point in Psykopath History Sponsoring the largest BMX Pro Roster in BMX history, at one point we had over 20 pro racers on the team, from Foreign Talent to local heroes, which lead other bike companies to start building there pro roster even bigger and supporting riders trying to make a living on their bikes.
They were all very young talented athletes and they didn't know then but they were all Olympic Hopefuls, fast forward a few years later we feel very proud helping to get two of our riders to the Olympics, winning many races worldwide, and creating the fastest bmx race frame in the Olympic Games.
We are currently scouting new talent in the A Pro/Super X/Girl Pro, for our development program, who knows you may be in the next Olympics. Also be on the look out for our newest race frame design, called the Castro Pull.

Last night 26.8.08 our house was broken into while we were sleeping and four bikes were stolen, two of which were Crupi race bikes, a crupi pro blue with chrome rims and full crupi running gear and a crupi expert cruiser champagine colour also with chrome rims and crupi running gear (and two mountain bikes) .
We are looking for assistance in finding the bikes, would it be possible getting some help to contact clubs around australia notifying members of the bmx communtiy to watch out for these two very unique bikes, which may get sold interstate. Please contact me by email ( jobbo77@hotmail.com ) for a full discription of the bikes and photos or call me 0412493470
