XBR press release
Congratulations to the XBR AUSTRALIA Senior boys and Senior girls' team who - like their Mighty Eleven Australian Team members - successfully defeated the New Zealand Trans Tasman Test Teams in Gisborne, New Zealand on the weekend.
The campaign got off to a shaky start when Senior Boys' Team Captain; Adam Shields took a nasty spill over the handlebars in the first moto, With a sore wrist and swollen foot - he battled on for the rest of the day. However, it seemed that we needed to even the playing field a little more with the girls - so Madisson Janssen, Chelsea King and Lacey Oliver - thought they would bang handlebars with each other in the second moto - resulting in King and Oliver eating dirt. Oliver sustained some swelling in the knee and even after considerable time in the ambo tent would not race again for the weekend. She did however, frock up and roll off the gate for the remaining competition in order to gain her team a valuable point each round.
At the end of the first day and after 3 motos - the Aussie Boys and Girls were both out in front.
On Sunday - Shieldsy's injury looked like it may wipe him out as well. However, with some medical attention from Darryl Goodwin (father of Darryn) and Graham Walker (Sarah Walker's father NZ) we were able to patch him up for the final two rounds of battle.
Whilst the Senior Boys continued to stretch their lead - putting themselves into an unbeatable position going into the final moto, the Kiwi girls kept chipping away at the Aussie lead. Going into the last moto - the Kiwi girls would need a 1, 2, 3 finish to snatch victory from us and with Hayley Gedye bursting out in front and Emily Allison hot on her tale - it was left to team Captain Melinda McLeod to chase them down and prevent another narrow win for the Kiwi girls. ( Last year the Aussie Girls went down by 1 point!) Melinda pulled in 2nd and the Aussie girls secured the victory.
Final Results
XBR AUSTRALIA GIRLS
101 Melinda McLeod (Capt), Lacey Oliver, Madisson Janssen and Chelsea King
NEW ZEALAND GIRLS
94 Hayley Gedye (Capt.), Emily Allison, Nicole Wright and Cara Leyton
XBR AUSTRALIA BOYS
115 Adam Shields (Capt), Darryn Goodwin, Bodi Turner and Madison Denholm
NEW ZEALAND BOYS
80 Nicholas Fox (Capt.) Kane Barry, Trent Jones and Bradley Gates
This was XBR's first venture in choosing and managing a team for a Trans Tasman Test and we have loved it. We will be choosing teams to defend the titles next year and will let you know more about that soon.
I would like to thank our riders, their parents, our sponsors - BMX MAD, ALTEGRA, HRVFITNESS , BMX NZ, the billet familes and the wonderful people of New Zealand who make us feel so welcome every time we go over. If you have never been to a North Island champs - join us on our AUSSIE INVASION tour next year - when we take on the Kiwis in their BMX Stronghold of Cambridge. When it comes to putting on an event and running it smoothly - these guys just know how to do it!
Finally - Congrats to our little masters - the MIGHTY ELEVEN'S who snatched a victory from the hands of defeat. Go guys and thanks for keeping the Aussie tent buzzing.
See you at the Summer Series - Jan 10 to Jan 17 Sydney 2009

ABA press release
The ABA BMX Fall Nationals - Disney Cup event was as exciting as ever. With 10 countries and 40 U.S. states being represented you can see why! There were also three ABA BMX PRO SERIES scores on the line, many of the sports top athletes were on hand to take a shot at getting some much needed points towards the ABA BMX titles and the brand new fuel injected 450 RMZ Suzuki`s that go with them. There were several 2008 Olympians in the house this weekend. Team USA's Kyle Bennett was back on the ABA BMX scene and was looking good all weekend long. South Africa's Sifiso Nhlapo was also at the Disney Cup making the AA PRO main on Sunday. South America was well represented as well. It truly was and international vibe to all the classes this weekend!
Current ABA National #1 PRO and PRO Cruiser rider, "Easy Money" Danny C. continued his quest for a repeat history on both titles. Intense/BAWLS rider Danny has been "THE MAN" to beat again this season and isn't looking to hand his ABA BMX PRO # 1's at the end of this season. Danny C. battle through injuries over the weekend and still managed to win PRO cruiser all three days and was able to win in AA PRO on Saturday with a stacked field! Not to be out done, Redline's new main man, Denzel Stein took the win on Friday showed why he's a force to reckon with. The "Alabama Slama" Barry Nobles, had a rough weekend but put all together for a HUGE win on Sunday to help Clayborn's main man get that much closer to the ABA BMX PRO title. 2007 ABA BMX Rookie Pro of the year, David Herman was fresh his UCI SX win in France and came straight home to the Disney Cup weekend. David looked great and the jet didn't really seem to effect him. The Intense/BAWLS rider strung together some great races and took second on Saturday and Sunday to help bring him right in the middle of the ABA BMX PRO title picture. Another rider that has been all over the podium this season is Haro's Khalen Young. The crazy Aussie is a great guy and fun to be around. He's also super fast on a bike and can jump like nobodies business. Khalen strung together three great days in AA PRO making the podium all thre days with a 2,3,3 for the weekend. These scores and Khalen consistency made Khalen Young the overall AA PRO Disney Cup Champion. Khalen was really stoked on the Disney Cup, but his eyes are set for the ABA BMX National PRO Cup that comes over Thanksgiving weekend in Tulsa, OK next month. ABA BMX has had an unbelievable 7 different AA Pro winners this season. That just goes to show how DEEP the talent pool is at ABA BMX Pro Series events. With only the Race Of Champions and the ABA GRANDS left the racing is going to be intense!
On the Ladies side . Alise Post, Dominique Daniels, and Arielle Martin continued to battle it out all weekend. Dominique seemed to be back in stride this weekend taking all three wins over the three days. She also took home the Disney Cup Championship as well. Defending # 1 ABA PRO ladies champ, Alise Post, battled out with Dominique and Arielle Martin all weekend long taking 2nd on two of the days and she put on one heck of a show for the Disney fans. Arielle Martin was back from her UCI SX title win in France the weekend before and the jet lag didn't slow her down either. Arielle continued to sneak her way into the ABA PRO Ladies title hunt as well. She rode solid to a 3,2,3 weekend. We hope she does because it will only add more talent to an already stacked ladies field. We can't wait for the ABA Grands!
Pro Cruiser saw Danny C. take three big wins at Disney. This makes three wins in-a-row for Danny and he has a strangle hold on the ABA PRO Cruiser Title. But, Barry has been so close this season he can taste it, he seems to be more focused then ever on winning it all at this years ABA Grands!
Vet Pro saw the Kenth Fallen and Dale Holmes show going at it. Dale has been back racing the BMX scene hard. But Kenth Fallen has been on a mission for the ABA BMX VET PRO title. Dale got the experience, Kenth has the speed. It's been quite a battle all year long and things are really starting to heat up out there with these two. The ever professional John "The Jackal" Purse was back in the house at the Disney Cup as well. John been a solid contender all year long and is always contender for the podium. Chad Street is looking to take his first ABA BMX VET PRO title as well. Chad's always solid and usually fly's under the radar while the Kenth - Dale show is going on around him. Chad's put in some great rides this season and has been soooo close before. Could this be Chad's year?? If he keeps it up, it just might be his year for the cup!
The ABA would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Disney Cup event such a huge success

Great news from New Zealand. The BMXNSW Trans Tasman Test Team have beaten the New Zealand Test Team by one point in the final moto.
The Aussies were trailing the Kiwis by 11 points after Saturday's racing. At the end of the fourth moto on Sunday the Aussie's were trailing by 10 points but in the final moto they pulled one out of the hat and defeated the Kiwis by 1 point.
Congratulations to Coach Howard Middleton, all the riders and their Management Team. It has been truly a heroic team effort.

We have received a number of emails from international BMX stars keen to hit up Australia for some racing and some sun in January so we have put this information together to help them out.
January is a crazy month for racing here in Australia because of the summer school holidays but particularly next year with the addition of the XBR summer series.
It used to be that there was racing just after the new year in Queensland (I guess it's like our Vegas on the beach - I'm sure you would have heard of the Gold Coast, it's a big tourism mecca with Dream World, Sea World, Wet and Wild and Movie World as well as the beaches and a whole lot of other things going on.) After Queensland there would be a little break and then on to Melbourne for Track Attack. Well XBR have thrown a big money series right in the middle of the two with one day overlapping with the Track Attack.
Queensland: (Fly into the Gold Coast airport www.goldcoastairport.com.au)
Jan 2, 3 & 4: Nerang UCI, Champbikx/Probikx and Nerang Nats
Jan 6: Ashmore
Jan 8: Beenleigh
From there it moves on to New South Wales (Sydney) which is probably the richest of the races.
New South Wales: (Fly into the Sydney Airport www.sydneyairport.com.au )
XBR Summer Series:
Jan 10: Castle Hill
Jan 11: Hawkesbury
Jan 13: Manly/Warringah
Jan 15: Macarthur
Jan 17: Liverpool
The XBR summer series over laps with Track Attack, but if it's dollars you are chasing then race Liverpool on Sat 17th and head on down to the second round of Track Attack at Park Orchards on the 18th. Now I know I would struggle with racing 10 races in 15 days, so I would probably do the first few rounds in NSW and forget about the final round then head down to Victoria.
Victoria: (Fly into Melbourne Airport www.melbourneairport.com.au)
Track Attack:
Jan 17: Lilydale
Jan 18: Park Orchards
Jan 20: Eastfield
Jan 22: Frankston
Jan 24: South Eastern
Jan 25: Knox
BSX (BSX2009 information)- One on one sprint trails
Jan 19: Pheasant Creek
An hour outside of Melbourne's CBD in the hill surrounded by National Forest is the BSX, held at the bmxultra.com HQ it's a charity event to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital. While entry fees are pooled for a pay back prize pool the Pro Open class riders win more from BSX than they would at a round of Track Attack, it's a very popular event. There is also a 30 & Over open wheel class and Pro Open Women's class.
What's with all the different money classes in Australia? That's always been a problem here, there isn't any consistency and it just get's plain confusing. Take XBR's championship cruiser for example, that's just money class cruiser, just like pro cruiser.

Michal Prokop press release
Tons of iron lifted in a fitness centre, kilometers on roads, days on trips, training plans, massages… enough for a talented sportsman to become successful, but too little to become a real professional. It does not depend on how his sport is big, but it depends on what all is he willing to do not to remain only a local hero…
Michal Prokop managed to step out of shadow of sports giants even before the flames went up over the Beijing. The life on pedals is his hobby and livelihood as well. Today, the twenty-seven-year King of the Czech cycling of 2006 and the factory rider of Author acquired all titles on his mountain bike and he even defended them again. Also, in 2006, only several months after a severe injury, he initiated the Czech national team of the track world championship on oval… As the double World and European champion and the double winner of the World Cup in fourcross, he has again found another great challenge in his highly successful carrier - nothing smaller than the BMX premiere at the Summer Olympic Games 2008 in the Chinese Beijing. He flies tens thousand miles in plane and spends hundreds of hours in car; he does not spent a lot of time at home.
One year of life of the most successful Czech biker and BMX rider was caught by the photographer Rob Trnka in the series of twelve unique pictures of the calendar michal.prokop09. Raw, black & white photos, sensitively processed by the graphic designer Jan Mocnak, offer neither attractive sceneries nor insane tricks. Least of all, they include egoistical posturing or nostalgic looking back to the Olympic year. It was not intended to amaze by a list of exotic destinations. Month by month, we can watch Michal at his training, ice skating race, care for his racing machine or his own body, behind handlebars, or on the road…
Michal Prokop comes with a project which does not want to astonish and that’s why it is worth attention. The outcome from sale together with the profit from auction of replica of the Michal’s Olympic Author machine is determined for the Fund of sportsmen at the Foundation of Tereza Maxova. The calendar in the A2 format will have its premiere at the Sport Life exhibition in Brno, where the mentioned auction shall take place.

Poster preview
Each year we come up with a poster to help promote BSX and our sponsors. This year it's very different...well it's still a poster...but...well you'll see.
There will be a few tweaks over the coming months as we lock in sponsorship and change some of the information around.
Thanks to XBR for the photo and to Cosmo for helping us finish the poster off.
Starting Hill rebuilt
In our last update we mentioned that Jamie Bullows had created a starting hill for us which served well through the first 3 BSX events, his design and build was used as the basis of the new hill. And that Dean Coles had helped to rebuild the hill over 4 very long days. Well here's some photos of the new hill.
Out with the old in with the new, working out a good angle.
Building up a good strong frame.
The hill completed with side steps.
The new hill with side platform for the starter (right)
Working bee - Monday November 3rd
With the hill completed we will try to get more dirt in to change the track to cope with the extra speed and just to make it different. The date for this is Monday November 3rd. If you can help out send an email. We'll also be working on the track on the Melbourne Cup public holiday on November the 4th.
BMX Australia and BMX Victoria supporting BSX2009
For the first ever BMX Australia and BMX Victoria will be officially supporting BSX, we are grateful for their support. Not only will it help us keep our insurance costs down and maximise our profits (100% of profits from the event are donated to the Royal Children's Hospital) it will also help legitimise the event.
We will need to have the track reassessed before the event, but the track was assessed by BMX Australia officials in 2007 and passed, we have made many improvements since then.
Rider list
What we do need is some help from you guys. If you think you will be able to make it to BSX2009 and compete email us your name, your class and where you are from and we'll put you on the list. This isn't an official entry list, it's more of an expression of interest. Official entry forms will be available around December.

It has become a tradition for Elite Cycle Imports (ECI) to show off the lastest products available shortly after Interbike. ECI are Australia's largest importer of fine BMX racing products with brands like S&M, Profile, Sun Ringle, Alienation, Kuwahara, Intense, THE, ITS, Avent, One Bicycles, Bombshell, ACS, Dirt Designs and a whole lot more.
First things first. If you are in the market for Profile gear, you might want to be quick to grab some Profile parts from your local bike shop, their price is about to go up 20% on the 1st of November because of the fall of the Australian dollar against the US. Get your orders in now. Even after the increase Profile parts and accessories will be cheaper to buy retail in Australia than they are to buy from overseas.
There were a whole bunch of new products on display for the trade only trade show, we managed to get photos of the stand out products which included:

The ABA held its last National weekend before the Grand Nationals in Orlando, Florida this past weekend. The Disney Cup / Fall Nationals were held indoors and the track built by the ABA crew was one of the best of the 2008 season. With 3 days of race action at the Disney Cup, this gave all the riders a last chance to gain valuable points towards the ABA end of the year titles. Intense BMX/Bawls Guarana Pro team riders Danny Caluag and David Herman both wanted to gain points: for Danny it was to extend his current points lead in both AA Pro and Pro Cruiser and for David, he wanted to try to catch up to Danny as he sits in 4th in the AA Pro points.
For Danny, a win the Pro class was the only way for him to gain points in AA Pro. With a tough groups of AA Pros in attendance, it would be a tough battle, but the current ABA #1 Pro is used to racing the worlds best racers and coming out on top, and on day #2, he did just that in the AA Class. This would Danny extend his current lead by 90 points and give hi a little bit bigger cushion over the comp. Danny didn’t stop there with the wins, as all 3 days, he would take wins in the Pro Cruiser Class. Adding these 3 wins may have put the cap on his 2nd ABA Pro Cruiser title.
David came into the ABA Disney Cup off of a huge win in France last weekend at the UCI Supercross race. Jet lag or traveling across the world didn’t seem to slow him down as he finished 2nd in AA Pro on Saturday and Sunday. These 2 good scores helped him move into 3rd overall in the Pro title chase and gives him a chance to win the most prestigious title in BMX, the ABA #1 AA Pro title.
Both riders now have a few weeks off from racing and can focus on training for the ABA Grand Nationals held on Thanksgiving weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Intense BMX/Bawls Guarana Pro Race team is proudly supported by GoPro Hero Cameras, THE Products, Fly Racing, SINZ Racing Products, Intense Tyre Systems, Shimano, Ogio, and Skull Candy.
Intense BMX Podium frames, the ABA Bike of the year for 2005, 2006, and 2007 come in 15 different frame sizes. Intense BMX also offers 24 different complete bikes for BMX racing, Dirt and Street. Morphine Industries press release
ABA Disney Cup / NBL Fall Classic, Lexington, SC
The debut of the Morphine Industries Factory team took place this past weekend with a presence at both the ABA Disney Cup in Orlando and the NBL fall Classic in Lexington, SC.
ABA Disney Cup
Anticipation was high as the new Factory rig and team rolled into Orlando to make a statement. The newly packed track would prove to be a challenge for aggressive moves and hard charging racing as the weekend rolled.
A PROs - Tyler Faoro and Jason LaRev had a solid field of riders (5 racks) to battle all weekend. Both rider’s hard charging style unfortunately kept them out of mains. Tyler lead the pack most of his races but left the weekend taking 8th on Friday in the main.
31-35 Cr / 28-35 X -Doran Bradshaw, was the go to money guy for the weekend. Posting a solid 2-3-2 in the mains for the three days. Doran added excitement to his main on Saturday by blowing his chain in the second turn and still pumping his way to a 3rd place finish. He also added a 5th on his 20” main on Friday – the only day he raced 20”.
17-18 X -Travis Woodruff and Talbot Cross, also had a stacked class of riders (5 racks) to bump and grind all weekend. Travis charged to the main with a 4th on Friday and an 7th on Sunday.
15 X – Ace Savarese was on of 20+ riders via for a spot on in the main. Ace had a strong showing just missing his main each day. Ace has been out of BMX for a year to follow his other passion MTB. We look forward to many mains from Ace as he quickly gets his BMX form back.
11 X /11 Cr – Noah Reeves had one of those weekends where nothing was going right. Noah blew a chain on Friday and Saturday. Potato chipped a wheel on Saturday and got caught up in two wrecks on Sunday. He was able to salvage a main on Sunday with a 5th on cruiser.
NBL Fall Classic
Morphine Industries Factory Team debut in the NBL was represented by Gavin Lubbe and Kyla Reed at Lexington. Reports were that there was rain on Friday with a cold front coming in on Saturday and Sunday taking temps down into the 40’s in the morning. Rain held off on Saturday and Sunday making way for good racing. If you have been to Lexington, you know it’s a great track to race.
Super X – Gavin Lubbe bobbled a bit on Saturday to take a 2nd in the main and came back strong on Sunday to crush the field with a 1st place main win – Great job Gavin!
Elite Women – Kyla Reed was the only Elite woman in Lexington for her Pro debut. She stepped up to race in the Elite open class to give the men a run for the money. She had a great showing letting everyone know that she has the skills and will be a rider to watch this season in the Elite Women series.
It was great to debut at both venues this weekend, but we look forward to getting the Factory team together at the next few races and Roll.

Redline Australia press release
QUEENSLAND WA & NSW - STATE TITLES 2008
The Queensland BMX faithful gathered in Cairns North Queensland this year for the annual State Championships. The event was sponsored jointly by Redline Bicycles Australian distributor, BMX International and it’s North Queensland agent, Toys R Us.
Credit must go to the BMX Queensland team who put on a first class event. The racing was exciting and went off without a hitch thanks to the considerable efforts of the dedicated band of volunteers and the BMX Qld organizing committee.
The event was an extraordinary one for the Redline team who came out at the end of the weekend with an impressive list of finals placings.
The Titles started well for the team at the Friday cruiser event with this year’s World Titles 15 girls gold medalist Melinda McLeod placing 1st in 15-16 girls. Mackay club mate Tristyn Kronk placed 8th in 11-12 boys and North Queensland local Katie Van Zanden placed 2nd in 8-10 girls. The South Queensland crew were not to be outdone with Sarah Harvey placing 3rd in 13-14 girls, Liam Hilliam 5th in 11-12 boys, Toowoomba’s Troy Elliot 3rd in 8 – 10 boys and the hard charging Kev Hilliam 2nd in the 45+ old boys.
The team had four representatives in Saturdays Probikx / Champbikx 08/09 round one event. Melinda McLeod came away with another 1st place in 15 girls, locals Ash Pemberton and Todd Pascoe were 3rd and 2nd respectively in Senior Men and Sarah Harvey placed 4th in 14 girls.
A great effort from Sarah in her first Champbikx event and follows on from a W4 & W6 at the 2008 World Titles in China.
Sundays 20 inch finals brought a flood of finals placings for the team. The amazing Melinda McLeod scored her third gold for the weekend in the 15 girls final. North Queensland’s Katie VanZanden [9 girls], Mitchell Hoad [9 boys] and Tristyn Kronk [12 boys] all scored 1st placings in their age finals. The Harvey family from Brisbane’s Pine Rivers Club came home with the double, Sarah placed 1st in 13 girls and brother Lachlan 1st in the 11 boys. Lachlan put in an impressive performance to come from behind for the win. Troy Elliott rode very strongly to place 3rd in the very tough 10 boys, Todd Pascoe placed 7th in Senior Men and the big man Kev Hilliam came home with another 2nd place in the hard fought 45+ mens event. Ash Pemberton, Liam Hilliam and Adam Hilliam all advanced to semi’s.
To top off the weekend for the Queenslanders, the team manager for the event, the remarkable Jeff Mills of Toys R Us scored an amazing 1st and 2nd place for Redline in the Corporate Teams Trophy. A truly remarkable team performance from all Redline’s Queensland crew.
Western Australia and NSW were the next states to line up for their titles, and once again NSW Redline team members were out front. This time it was Redlines current 9 girls W1 Saya Sakakibara in the 9 girls blitzing the opposition. Brother Kai and current W3 rode consistently over the weekend to take out 1st in the 12 boys. Both riders dominated their opposition in the finals against some very significant opposition.
The Western Australian event saw current Australian Champion and Junior Development Coach Karl Mustchin take out the double, 1st place in the 30+ masters and 1st place in the 30-34 cruiser. Current Australian Champion in 11 girls, Rachelle Smith continued her good form with another double for the team winning 11 girls and 11-12 girls cruiser. The placings continued to flow with Paul Throns placing First in 45-49 cruiser, daughter Hannah placing 2nd in the combined 13-14 girls class, younger sister Rebecah 4th in 10 girls and Luke Tanner 3rd in 13 boys and 8th in 13-14 cruiser. The team placed 3rd overall in the hotly contested Western Australia Corporate Teams Trophy.
We now look forward to the Victorian state titles in November at which Redline will be represented by the Callan family, Josh, Ziggy and father Damien.
The Redline team invite you to go to www.bmxinternational.com.au and on to the Redline team tab to read individual team members reports on the state titles events.
The Redline Team would like to thank Bill Demaid and his team at BMX International for their continued support and for their ongoing commitment and support for the sport of BMX racing.

bmxultra.com press release
The bmxultra.com crew hit up the Cash Dash over the weekend. The track was very fast and if it wasn't for the strong winds and dust it would have been a perfect day of racing.
We had six riders flying the team jersey with Chase Collins being the latest addition to the team. Three of the riders were in the 30 & Over open wheel class and the other three in the pro class.
Shane Jenkins put together some good results in the motos to qualify well for the final. After missing the gate in the main he worked his way through the field to pull up next to Brian Kelly in second by the first corner, but the inside of the tight second corner was the wrong place to be. After washing off a lot of speed Shane slipped back into fifth.
Mark Dobson (40-44 cruiser) made his mark (no punn intented) on the 30 & Over class as one of the top qualifiers for the main. When the gate dropped Mark was getting amongst it to the top end of the field, by the end of the first straight he'd slipped back to mid field but with a strong finish managed to work his way back into fourth by the finish line.
Jamie Bullows, #1 Australia in the 35-39 mens class, took sixth in the 30 & Over Open Wheel class he got off to a good start when the gate dropped in the main but slipped back in the field through the tighter part of the track.
Brandan Bullows is doing a fine job in the money class, against seasoned competitors and the Cash Dash was no exception. Brandan made it to the semi finals with ease but was on the bubble sitting in fourth where he was just knocked out by the wonder kid Bodi Turner.
Levi Collins is making his return to BMX racing after focusing on motocross for the past year. He also made it through to the semi final of the Pro class but was eliminated. When Levi gets back into full swing you can expect to see him making podiums again.
Levi's younger brother Chase Collins was flying the ultra colours for the first time at the Cash Dash and like Brandan and Levi he also made the semi but was eliminated. With Levi back into racing you can expect big improvements from the Collins brothers over the next few months.
The bmxultra.com team is proudly supported by One Bicycles, Supercross BMX, Answer BMX, Dirt Designs, THE, Profile, Sun Ringle, and Tektro Brakes.

UCI Supercross World Cup Roc D’Azur, France
The last round of the 2008 UCI Supercross World Cup series was held in conjunction with the Roc D’Azur bicycle festival, located in the beautiful south of France in the town of Fréjus, just next to the Mediterranean Sea. The 2008 Supercross series has been a huge success and the level in the Pro class had risen to an all new level.
David Herman has had a incredible season on the 5 race UCI World Cup Supercross series, with one win in Adelaide, Australia, a 6th place finish in Salt Lake City along with 2 semi final main event appearances in Madrid, Spain and Copenhagen, Denmark. This consistency had David sitting in 3rd overall heading into the final event. David was selected as one of 4 male athletes to represent team USA in France, as part of the funded team, which is a huge honor.
In the time trails, David would qualify 19th fastest out of the 96 entrants. The top 64 would advance to the event, and David easily made his way out of the 1/8, ¼ and ½ rounds into the main event.
In the main event, David was up a strong field of riders, including many riders who just competed in the Olympic Games. When the gate dropped, David had his best start of the weekend and just edged out fellow USA racer Donny Robinson going into the first turn and from there, David was never contested for the lead and rode a strong lap to the win. The win, the biggest in his short Pro Career, catapulted him to 2nd overall in the 2008 UCI series, and solidified him as one of the new starts of the Supercross series with being the only rider to win 2 events in 2008. David will now return to the USA and get ready for the ABA Fall Nationals Disney Cup in Orlando, FL. David currently sits in 4th in the ABA title chase, where his teammate Danny Caluag, leads the series.

Sydney Olympic Park press release
A new BMX track and learn to ride program for disadvantaged youth was launched today at Sydney Olympic Park by Minister for Planning Kristina Keneally.
The Monster BMX Track is a free, open-air facility that makes the increasingly popular sport of BMX available to all – from occasional riders to the elite.
The track was jointly funded by the Federal Government, the NSW State Government and Auburn Council. ‘Today is a great demonstration of all levels of government working together to deliver an exciting facility and a wonderful program that will be a lasting benefit to communities in and around Sydney Olympic Park, greater Sydney and indeed New South Wales,’ Minister for Planning, Keneally said.
‘The Monster BMX Track demonstrates the NSW Government’s commitment to making Sydney Olympic Park a unique place for all people to participate in sport – from occasional recreational riders to enthusiastic amateurs and on to elite sportsmen and women training for national and international competition. A new BMX club – Sydney BMX Inc. – has been created at Sydney Olympic Park to complement the new track and help kids enjoy a healthier, more active lifestyle,’ Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Alan Marsh said.
BMX Australia has welcomed the new track and club, saying they would support the further development of the sport in Australia. ‘The growth of the sport will be enhanced by the new BMX club at Sydney Olympic Park. The new club and the staging of state, national and international events will support the sustainable growth and development of BMX in Australia,’ BMX Australia President Barry Knight said.
Sydney BMX Inc. President Neil Cameron said today’s announcement was great news. ‘The establishment of Sydney BMX Inc. based at Sydney Olympic Park is great for the development of the sport at a grass roots and elite level. We are excited about working with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority and the local community to grow the sport of BMX in the heart of Australia’s largest city,’ Mr Cameron said.
Sydney Olympic Park Authority CEO Alan Marsh said the Monster BMX Track complemented the existing Mountain X Track, the Monster Skatepark and the more than 35 kilometres of cycleways at Sydney Olympic Park to make the precinct one of Sydney’s best cycling destinations. ‘Together these facilities give all levels of riders the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing, and enjoy life in Sydney Olympic Park,’ Mr Marsh said.
Minister Keneally also officially launched the Sydney Olympic Park Community Learn to Ride Program – a joint initiative of Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Auburn Council and the NSW Police Bicycle Patrol Unit.
The program allows disadvantaged youth from the Auburn Council Local Government Area to participate in learn to ride programs led by the NSW Police Bicycle Patrol Unit at the new Monster BMX Track. ‘The Community Learn to Ride Program is providing important opportunities for youth from the local area to participate more fully in community life, to have access to positive role models, and to learn the many benefits of an active sporting life through an activity with which they can easily engage,’ Mr Marsh said.

Billy Jolliffe (Tamworth/Lake Macquarie) claimed the New South Wales State BMX Championships beating famous BMX Olympian, Luke Madill (Penrith) in a difficult final. In Madill's first race after bowing out before the finals at the Beijing Olympics, it was another unlucky day.
The 22 year old Joliffe from Camden Park won after touching handlebars with Madill in the first berm resulting in Madill crashing to finish in eighth place.
“Luke was ahead until we clashed then Luke came off second best,” explained Jolliffe who was lucky to stay upright and go on for a well deserved win.
"I was happy to win considering last year I'd come back from America and then broke my arm in practice."
Strong Todd Pascoe (Townsville/Campbelltown) challenged Jolliffe in the second straight but finished in fourth place. Second was Thomas Hubert (Maitland) and Daniel Johnstone (Terrigal) finished third.
Caroline Buchanan (Canberra), won the elite women’s state title beating New Zealand’s BMX Olympian Sarah Walker and Australia’s Olympian Nicole Callisto (Campbelltown/Perth) on points.
Buchanan returned to BMX racing after an absence of five months. Since then Buchanan has raced four cross at two mountain bike World Cup events and the World Championships with her best result being a win at the World Cup in her hometown of Canberra a month ago.
Racing against two BMX Olympians was a highlight for the 17 year old Buchanan.
“It was good to compete to with them (Walker and Callisto). Even though I’d been doing mainly four cross it’s helped me think about different lines on corners. I find I manoeuvre my bike like I do in four cross,” explained Buchanan.
Buchanan will line up in the next national series BMX event on the Gold Coast in January and in two weeks will compete in the first two national rounds of the mountain bike four cross at Sydney Olympic Park.
With 694 race entries racing was held at the Macarthur BMX track at Elderslie. Rain made racing difficult over the weekend however organizers only eliminated one moto/heat to fit in a full program of racing. The 2009 NSW State Championships will be held in Maitland.

The 2008 WA State BMX Championships were run this past weekend with entries not seen as high for well over 10 years. Over 520 individual riders contested the weekend for the opportunity to qualify for the 2009 National Championships to be held at the Brigadoon Equestrian Centre in Perth’s Swan Valley.
Matt Butterworth, # 4 in Australia in the 35-39 men’s class rode in the 35-39 Cruiser class (18 entered) and 30+ Men class (31 entered). After easily transferring out of the semi finals in each class, Matt took home fourth in the 35-39 Cruiser behind Karl Mustchin, Wayne Green and Matt Briggs.
Matt fared a little better in the tough 30+ class final which had no less than three individual current national champions, to snare a spot on the podium in third place behind Mustchin and Green respectively.
The State Championships wraps up the season proper for 2008 with attention now on the State Series overall rankings to be awarded on November 29th. It shapes up to be a hectic start to 2009 with the WA race calendar already released indicating a heavy schedule of State races as the perfect preparation for WA riders in the lead up to the Nationals.

One Bicycles/ ECI imports press release
It's the time of the year for all the big races around Australia, and you can be sure that means for great racing and tough competition. The One Bicycles grass roots squad will be the team to look out for this season.
Issy's update - Eastfield Experience
Isabella Penglase is just returning to racing after resting up a broken wrist, here's her latest update.
Eastfield was my first big race back (except for Warrigal) since i broke my wrist earlier at Wodonga at the Northern Rivers regional round.
Warrigal was fun to ride but didn't make it to the finals in 10 boys. I only had my plaster off for 6 days.
Eastfield was a great day I really enjoyed getting back out and racing.
I was getting really good gates all day and finished the motos with Two 1st and Two 2nds .
In the final I made a couple mistakes and finished in 3rd.
Thanks to all the girls that road and especially J-lo Dobson for her win
and One Bicycles
I'm looking forward racing this Summer and the Vic State titles.
Mikayla, Nikalus and Josh Rose join the team
We would like to welcome Mikayla, Nikalus and Josh Rose from ACT to the team, they made their debut in the One Bicycles colours at the NSW State Championships over the weekend and did a fantastic job.
NSW State Championships (by Miekel Rose)
We arrived on Friday to an absolute scorching hot day. The track looked well rolled and fast. As the new frames arrived on the Wednesday night, the kids hadn't ridden them on a track at all prior to the NSW Titles. When the bikes came out of the trailer they gabbed a lot of attention. The kids took to their respective gates practice and said they were the smoothest frames they had ridden and looked like ducks to water on them, jumping and manualing like they had been riding them all season.
Friday night the heavens opened up and as we left for the track on Saturday morning it was very wet conditions. The weather got worse as the day went on, with torrential down pours throughout the day. The original 4 motos were reduced to 2 as the weather had dictated the outcome for the event. The track was boggy in places and free flowing water cascaded across sections of the track. The Macarthur Club did a great job to keep the track rideable throughout the day working tirelessly.
Mikayla, on a blue ONE junior was first out in the 9 Girls. She was racing up a division and against the current World #1 Saya Sakakibara as there were not enough 8 year old girls to constitute a class. She won her first heat and then in heat two the heavens opened and she was up against Saya, She raced hard and kept Saya honest coming in 2nd to her.
Nikalus came out and won his first heat easily. In his second heat he too was in torrential rain and against Australian Champion Andrew Hughes. It was a great tight race with Nik pulling a 2nd to Andrew. 8 to 10 Cruiser was his second class and he was on fire, winning his first heat and then another 2nd behind Andrew Hughes (1A)
Josh struggled in the heavy conditions but remained consistent scoring a forth in both his heats on day 1. Josh managed 5th's on his cruiser, riding in the 13 to 14 cruiser division. He was coming back from a broken elbow and lacked strength and conditioning and the heavy conditions were taking their toll on his speed.
On day two we expected better conditions, however the heavens opened again with a very similar day to the previous. Day two was another 2 heats followed by Semis and Finals.
Mikayla came out and nailed two wins to secure herself her first State Final and plate. Nikalus secured a place in his 20" semi with another first and second to Lachlan Boesell from Penrith. He came through on his cruiser with 2 wins. It was straight to the finals on the cruiser.
Josh remained consistent again and had a 5th and a 6th on his 20' keeping him out of the semis, placing 20th overall in the 13 boys class. He raced well on the cruiser and managed to finish in 16th place however did not make the semi as they had a 6 man gate for the Semis. Josh realised he needed to pick up his training and has his sights set on the Victoria Titles later in the year. He sat sideline to support his little sister and brother in their finals.
Nikalus had a loaded Semi and came out swinging, chasing Andrew Hughes all the way to the line and only getting beaten by an inch or two on the line. He had secured a berth in the 10 boys 20" final for another year.
Mikayla was in her first final and came out fast and chasing W1 Saya hard. Saya was too big and too strong and took the 1NSW plate, with Mikayla taking the 2nd spot and her first NSW Titles Plate as 2N.
Nik had his 20" final first and their were some hard hitters on the gate with him. As the gate dropped he led them out but was shortly passed by Andrew Hughes and slightly by Ben Bainy from Liverpool Club. Nik and Ben battled all the way around the track not letting Andrew have it all his own way. Down the last straight Nik and Ben got tangled and that allowed Ben to get a half a bike lead which he took to the line and Nik followed in third. 3N on his 20' is an improvement from his 4N the previous years.
In his Cruiser final he had some big names on the gate again, in Andrew Hughes(1A) and Brock Griffiths(3A). Nik had a great start and was chasing Andrew closely. As they hit the second berm Brock Griffiths tried a move on Nik and brought himself and the rider in 4th down allowing two Tuggeranong riders in to the 3rd and 4th places. AS they hit the stripe Andrew Hughes achieved another 1 NSW plate and Nikalus had a 2N plate to go with his 3N from his 20"
A great weekend for results for the One Grass Roots NSW Team in their first showing. Now planning an attack on the Victorian Championships in November.
How to buy One Bicycles products in Australia
If you would like to purchase a One Bicycles frame or accessories in Australia the best way to do so is to head down to your local bike store and place an order. If they don't know what you are talking about tell them to call Elite Cycle Imports while you wait and place your order there and then. After doing some calculations myself I have found the cheapest way to get One Bicycles products in Australia is through a local reseller.

STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly press release
Five riders competing – all five make their finals!
The WA State Titles were held this last weekend at the Cockburn track, with 513 riders taking part. While the weather was average, overall, it was a well run event, with good racing in all the classes. Team STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly had 5 riders competing in 7 classes.
Having to race older girls all year proved to be good training for Grace McDonald, who, when finally able to race girls her own age, destroyed the competition in the 8yo girl class – winning all 7 of her races to claim her first # 1 plate.
Recently hooked up with a STAATS Factory ride, Kirsten Dellar dominated both her classes, taking her STAATS Pro XL to 7 from 7 in the 15-16 girls class, and clean sheeting the 18 & Under women’s cruiser class aboard a STAATS Pro Cruiser.
In the 11 Boys class – the largest class with 41 riders, Doyle Holl rode smart to get through the moto’s, quarters and semis, and finished a credible 7th in the main. An excellent result in such a tough class
A change of teams has seen a new enthusiasm for racing for Liam Smith – who was in good from all weekend. Liam breezed through motos, won his semi, and finished 2nd in the final in another quality field in the 13 boys class on his STAATS Pro XL.
Jaymin King also had a great weekend, finishing 2WA in both the 15 boys and 15-16 cruiser classes. Only recently back on a bike after a knee injury at the Nationals, Jaymin is now back into full training for an assault on the 2009 season.
The team finished the weekend with three #1 plates, three #2 plates, and a #7 WA. An excellent result for the riders and their sponsors.
The team is proudly sponsored by STAATS Bicycles, BB Cycles and Fly Racing.
THUD Industries Coaching press release
Tony Hancox [ THUD Industries Coaching, Dual Australian Champion] would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the riders who have poured blood, sweat and tears in their preparation and results at the WA State Titles on the weekend. Regardless of results, i am very proud of each and every rider that particpated. Your sportsmanship and conduct make a coach feel like he has done his job.
If my riders hadn't shown dedication and love of the sport, i don't feel we would have got the 42 state plates that we did. 7 of them being State Number 1 and 5 State Number 2. That's right, 42 riders made State finals and in some cases, scored their FIRST ever state plate. Congratulations again.
Lauren Reynolds [Factory GHP] totally dominated the combined Elite womens class by jumping EVERYTHING on the technical Cockburn track.Look out at open events, especially Nerang, where Lauren is hoping they will let her jump the Mens Pro Section in a race? With the SuperX jumps being soo big, the pro sections should at least be optional for the Pro Girls. After all, it is a PRO section....right?
Billy Boy Hobbs [Taylors Bike Shop] had a fantastic weekend with a 3rd on the high quality Elite mens final. With the main featuring last years Champion Brock Murray[ Kuwahara] and the Taylor Brothers, Billy was in for a hard time but still showed that grit and determintaion can prevail.
Joe Hey [ Guildford Cycles} won his first Elite Junior title which was a well deserved and long waiting State Title.
Of the 7 state title wins, 3 came from current National Champions Rachelle Smith, Lauren Reynolds and Tony Hancox.
Regardless of who coached who, results show that structured coaching sessions and mentoring by higher profile riders definately makes a difference in not only how our kids perceive the sport but also how they perform. I encourage all parents to contact their local club and see what coaching structure they have in place and start a plan for next years National Titles in Perth. If anyone is serious about the World Titles in Australia next year.........."Training Starts NOW!!"
HRVfitness press release
What a weekend for HRVfitness.com. The team representing all over Australia last weekend as the boys headed up to Cairns to strut their stuff at the first round of the National Champbikx series and QLD state titles. All three riders dominated qualifying and made finals.
Matt Dunsworth finished strong with 2nd on both days of racing.
Olivier Hoarau had a spill the first day but came home strong on day 2 with a 3rd in the QLD state titles.
And what can you say about Madison Denholm? The big fella made the main in the 14 boys Champbikx and had an unlucky spill in the main, but then jumped on a plane back to Victoria and took out the final in the 14 boys at the Eastfield experience the next day. What a fantastic performance!!

bmxultra.com press release
The bmxultra.com crew have been flying the flag over the past couple of weeks, firstly at the Geelong Spectacular and then the Eastfield Experience.
Jamie Bullows, #1 Australia in the 35-39 mens class, took fourth in the 30 & Over Open Wheel class at the Geelong Spectacular in very windy conditions. He followed that up with another fourth at the Eastfield Experience on the weekend.
Brandan Bullows is starting to show the competition he's a real force in the money class. At the Geelong Spectacular Brandan pulled his best result so far, a third. A fifth in the A Pro semi at the Eastfield Experience kept him out of the main, but he'd proven he has what it takes to hang with the best. Keep an eye on this guy, he's only going to get faster.
Adam Carey made a return to Victoria at the Eastfield Experience after spending most of the year racing AA Pro against NSW finest riders. He didn't make it out of the motos in the tough field.
Shane Jenkins raced in the A Pro class at the Eastfield Experience, inconsistant results in the motos kept him from progressing out of the motos. He did however manage to grab some great photos from the event. Click here to check them out.
Mark Dobson (40-44 cruiser) is the newest member of the bmxultra.com team, however he wasn't racing at the Eastfield Experience so his wife Fiona was seen flying the bmxultra.com/One Bicycles jersey. She took 8th in the Pro Womens class and won the 19+ Women's cruiser class. If she keeps that up we'll have to add her to the roster too.
The bmxultra.com team is proudly supported by One Bicycles, Supercross BMX, Answer BMX, Dirt Designs, THE, Profile, Sun Ringle, and Tektro Brakes.
Bike Media press release
Only one month after the Olympics the first national event was held n Australia today with what could be the next group of London 2012 Olympic hopefuls.
The first round of the Hog’s Breath Café National series in Cairns saw three local champions blitz today men’s divisions. Former World Champion, 25 year old Ronnie Dugdell (Cairns), won the elite while fellow Cairns riders Kurt Nicholls and Joseph Costa won the junior Probikx and 16 Boys Champbikx races respectively making it a Cairns trifecta.
Dugdell, a 25 year old boilermaker, was rewarded with a win after yesterday claiming a state title in cruiser class. Second was Olympic hopeful, Townsville’s Todd Pascoe.
“I felt a bit tired this morning but after I got warmed up I was right,” admitted Dugdell. “I’ve always wanted to race Todd (Pascoe) and today I got my chance.”
Dugdell lined up with Pascoe in the motos with no clear leader until Dugdell beat Pascoe in the semi-final.
A quick start and the added advantage of knowing his home track was all Dugdell needed.
“I had a good first straight then rode the track spot on. They would need to be going fast to pass me on the last straight,” he added.
Strong Townsville rider, Ashley Pemberton placed third.
Kurt Nicholls from Cairns claimed the junior men’s race and took the fastest time trail of the day with an impressive 38.10 seconds lap. Second was Victoria’s Matthew Dunsworth (Knox) and third was Joshua Nash (Cairns).
New Cairns club member, Joseph Costa, won the 16 boys Champbikx convincingly beating world bronze medallist, Darryn Goodwin (Hills) from Perth.
The elite women’s Probikx was won by Rachel Bracken just 17 years of age from Townsville. Second and third were Cherie Simpson and Kate Fischmann both from the Gold Coast (Nerang).
Mackay’s claimed two wins with world champion, Melinda McLeod and Jack Buchhorn winning the 16 girls and 14 boys respectively.
The 15 boys Champbikx was won by Redlands Luke Hombsch. The 15 girls winner, Chelsea King from Beenleigh beat current world champion, Madison Janssen from the Gold Coast.
The next two national rounds of the Hog’s Breath Café Hogs Breath Probikx and Champbikx will be held in Nerang in January.
