The Factory press release
Mixed results in Adelaide for the Australian riders featured in the documentary “Life Behind Bars The Olympic Journey”. For the five riders Khalen Young, Jared Graves, Luke Madill, Jamie Gray and Glenn Codega, results were needed to either stay in contention for the Olympic team or to push their way into the all ready tight squad. The Factory team was with Luke Madill at his backyard Supercross track leading up to the Adelaide events, the benefits were showing, as he displayed awesome track speed at both the Supercross (6th) and Australian National Championships (2nd). Not to be out done was Jared Graves who possesses one of the quickest snaps in the Australian elite field, making the final in the Supercross and winning the National Championships. Khalen Young showed the crowds why he is rated one of the fastest riders on track in the world, pulling unbelievable moves in the turns. Ironically he was unfortunate to fall in the second turn whilst leading his semi at the Supercross, a fall which not only handed fellow Aussie rider Kamakazi a spot in the final, but also greatly improved his rivals chances of a spot in the Olympic team. Khalen was a non starter for the nationals with a busted thumb. Jamie Gray who went into the Supercross with a knee injury, fell in practice after over jumping the first double on the second straight then landing awkwardly between the next double. Things went from bad to worse when he took off his knee guard and saw a gaping wound on his knee which required several stitches at the track in the medical tent. Later that night Jamie was driven to hospital and remained in the Royal Adelaide Hospital for the next few days with internal injuries. Jamie was in the crowd later in the week watching the Nationals. This injury has prevented Jamie gaining valuable selection points for the Olympic team. Glenn Codega’s natural trail style was on display, passing riders down the 3rd straight of the Supercross track, admittedly Glenn’s start was letting him down and in a stacked quarter against the best in the USA, was always going to find it hard to reel them in. Glenn was unlucky at the nationals, in avoiding Kamakazi’s back wheel into the 3rd corner whilst sitting in 3rd in the semi, Glenn gave up a couple of positions to finish 5th. The adopted 6th rider in the film, Kamakazi had a big week in Adelaide, placing on the podium at the Supercross as well as a final birth in the nationals final. Kamakazi and Luke Madill stood to equal Anthony “Howie” Waye’s record (although not consecutive) of 4 national titles. Jared Graves spoiled the party winning his first National title, a sensational race which featured Kama, Jared and Luke all swapping positions in the second corner. The three boys travelled to Madrid together, all made the final of the Adelaide Supercross, and a week later entertained the crowd in the National final.
The Factory team have cut together new videos of the two events in Adelaide, these videos are dv camera footage that Chantel shoots around the track. It’s a bit of fun putting together the videos but not quite what you will see in the actual documentary. Checkout our latest videos on our revamped page on www.myspace.com/thefactory47 or www.youtube.com/profile?user=TheFactory47. Vote on which rider you think will represent Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, our poll has been reset so have a vote. The Factory would like to thank all the Australian elite riders who gave their time during the events in Adelaide, Johan and officials from UCI, coaching staff of Cycling Australia, officials from BMX Australia and media liaison Sharon Payne. Most of all our five riders who put up with us pointing a camera at them throughout the events which we secretly think they like. Good luck boys in Denmark.

Milton, ON – Tim DaSilva died in a tragic accident while building his dream; a place for children, youth and their families to enjoy exercise, companionship and the spirit of competition. His family has taken solace in the fact that his dream had become a reality and a unique amateur sports facility that anyone from across the GTA and beyond could enjoy. Unfortunately the proper permit hadn’t been procured before he began building on the private land. Now the Niagara Escarpment Commission (NEC) is forcing the family to flatten their son’s dream in 60 days or the owner of the private land will face stiff penalties.
“The track Tim created represented a place where we could go to be near him. We feel closer to him there than anywhere else. It was the last place he was happy and alive and it was truly his dream to bring this facility to the families of southwestern Ontario,” said Zira DiSilva, Tim’s mom.
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=1264301
When Tim died tragically, he was completing his work on a BMX bicycle dirt track in Halton Hills. Built on private land, at the owner’s support, the track was designed with local, provincial and national level competition in mind, where kids aged three and up could practice and compete. BMX is now an Olympic sport and Canada is trying hard to catch up to the impressive skills many other countries have been fostering for years. Tim was an Ontario Quest for Gold recipient and a Team Ontario member and in an Olympic year, it hurts all the more for the family and BMX community to potentially lose a track that would help them gain the skills they need to compete.
Tim died on July 15, 2006 with the track, affectionately named “Tim’s Track” being completed in September 2006. The family and friends and the wonderful BMX Community completed Timmys Track in September 2006 with Adam Muys, Cycling BC and Sammy Cools, Senior Elite Female flew out on their own dime and helped complete the track. Over 125 people worked for 2 days straight and would not leave until the track was done. Unfortunately, the track has come under disapproval and the decision has been made by the NEC to close it.
The family and the BMX community are calling for support to have the track re-opened and the missing permit granted. Not just for Tim’s family, but for the community who benefits from having this unique recreational facility for amateur sport that doesn’t exist anywhere else in Halton Hills and is in limited supply in Ontario. Halton Place is very supportive of Amateur Sports in Ontario and hopes to continue with the Tim DaSilva BMX Track.
If anyone can help in anyway, letters of support, quotes, petition etc. please do so.

The Today Show will feature USA's top BMX Olympic hopefuls Kyle Bennett, Donny Robinson and Arielle Martin. The abbreviated track will feature a starting hill with electronic gate, a 120' straight, a roller section and a 16" double jump for Kyle, Donny and Arielle to showcase their skills. It's even rumored that some of the hosts of the show may even give it a try.
“BMX racers are the most skilled cyclists in the world, from sprinting to negotiating jumps, BMX racers develop these skills at a very young age. It’s great that the media will finally witness these skills, The Today Show is just the start of the media coverage our sport is about to receive.” Said Clayton John, ABA President
The show will air April 30th from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM and will not only highlight our potential BMX Olympians, The Today show will also give some of the top amateurs in the World the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on Rockefeller Plaza. “After 32 years of organizing and promoting the sport in the United States the American Bicycle Association is excited about the exposure, notoriety and legitimacy the Olympics will bring to the sport.” stated B.A. Anderson, ABA Vice President.
The entire project with the Today Show was made possible by a collaborative effort from the American Bicycle Association and ABA national sponsors Fly Racing, FireMagic Premium Grills, Jigaloo lubricant, and GT Bicycles with help from Free Agent, NBL and USA Cycling. To add even more Olympic flare to the show Pierce Barker of Pro Gate is providing a scaled down version of the actual Olympic Starting gate. UCI track builder Tom Ritz, the ABA staff and Kevin O’Brien will be on site to construct the first ever BMX track on Rockefeller Plaza.

Supercross BMX Press Release
In what is probably one of the weirdest and quickest Double A Pro switches since the Redline/Haro Griggs/King team switch of the early 90's it seems that Supercross and Crupi are doing a little pro swapping.
After just over 1 month on the Supercross Factory team Tyler Brown left for the Green of Team Crupi leaving an opening on the Supercross Factory Roster.
Not wanting to fill the vacancy with just any AA Pro as we want a rider that has loyalty to the program and is as nice to the kids and fans as the rest of the Supercross Pro's are we decided to leave the spot open for a bit. That was until we received a call from one of the nicest and most loyal AA Pro's on the circuit. Mikey Moeller. Seems that he had decided to leave Crupi after being with them for 9 of his last 11 years and was looking for a new home.
Guess it is true when you're not looking for things, that is when you get exactly what you need.
After consulting with our team and Pro's , we knew our first thoughts were correct when Samantha said" "Tell Mikey Welcome to the Family" .
We are looking forward to a long career with Mikey as he is in his pursuit of his ABA Pro Plates and the dreams of the 2012 Olympics.
Look for Mikey to make his Supercross Team debut at the ABA Spartenburg Pro National this weekend in South Carolina where Mikey will racing his Supercross EVO iS towards the podium along with the rest of the Supercross Factory Team.
For more information on Sammy, Kenth, Mikey and the entire Supercross team is up to check out http://www.supercrossbmx.com for news and product updates and more.

bmxultra.com press release
The bmxultra.com team hit the Australian Championships in Adelaide with full intentions to make a big splash, and that they did. The brand new bmxultra.com/One bicycles jerseys got a lot of attention and lots of compliments.
Shane Jenkins looked to improve on his results from last year however he badly injured his right ankle saving what could have been a very nasty fall in the final practice session. It looks like he will be out of racing for a few months.
Todd "Scooby" Guyers took to the Supercross track like a duck to water. A slip up in his final 17-24 cruiser moto meant he was eliminated early. He bounced back in 17-24 men though winning all 3 of his motos confirming a place in the 1/4 final. He then progressed to the semi where he looked like he would miss out on the main sitting in fifth place down the last straight. Just before the very last roller a rider went down hard, Scooby clipped his bike and also went down hard but has crashed over the finish line and scraped in for the four spot and a berth in his very first Australian Championships final. When it came to the main Scooby was still very beat up from the semi fall and was in a lot of pain the whole way around the track, he had to roll around for eighth.
Jamie Bullows was emliminated in his 35-39 cruiser semi, but like Scooby used it as motivation for the 35-39 mens 20 inch class. He had set himself up as one of the favourites for the win in that class, and when it came to the main he won in fine style, he got out to the lead by the first corner and pulled clear of the rest of the field. It was Jamie's first national #1 and now he has a taste for it.
Matt Butterworth was racing in the 35-39 cruiser class with Jamie and faced the same fate in the semi. Like Jamie he made up for it on the 20 inch in the 35-39 mens class. He was right up in the pointy end of the final fighting it out for second and third most of the way around the track but when the dust settled he finished up in a respectable fourth place.
Brandan Bullows hasn't spent a lot of time on his bike lately it showed a little in cruiser, he was jumping everything but not with the speed he would normally carry he got as far as the 1/4 final in the 15-16 boys. When it came to 15 boys though he looked a lot more confident and comfortable through the motos, a bad start in the 1/4 final though saw him finish in fifth and out of the running.
Congratulations to all of our riders.

I just wanted to add a note to your news section with One results.
This is my first Double win at a National title and I seriously believe it was the One cruiser frame and 20" Pro xxl frame that made it possible. I have been racing for many years and ridden all the top notch frames on the market..but ..for my height 6ft2", the One was and is a perfect ride. The geometry and feel out the gate is spot on. I would recommend the frame for any aspiring rider. The One frame has made my dream of National Champion come true.
[Editor: Congratulation to Tony for a fantastic effort that the Australian Championships]
STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly press release
The weekend of 18th -20th saw the 2008 Australian BMX National Titles take place in Adelaide. An indoor track ensured the weather would not play a part, but as it turned out, there were blue skies all week anyway. With only minimal modifications to the Supercross track of the weekend before, riders had to deal with a monster start hill and plenty of big jumps.
The STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly race team had 3 riders come across from WA – and managed to “borrow” a rider from the SA STAATS team to make up the required 4 riders for a team.
The first group to practice was the 14 and under Cruisers, and Daniel Cobham took the prize for being the first “non-pro” to jump the first straight (this was when the first jump was still a double and before it was filled in to a tabletop). Daniel went on to make the final of the 13-14 Cruiser class on his STAATS Expert Cruiser – finishing 4th behind two 14yo’s and the eventual winner of the 13 boys 20 inch class. Daniel backed up his Cruiser success by progressing through the 13 boys 20 inch motos, quarters, and winning his semi. A slight hesitation on the gate in the final meant Daniel would pilot his STAATS Pro to 5A in this always competitive class.
Jaymin King started the weekend well, easily making the finals on his STAATS Pro XL Cruiser in the 15-16 boys class. Unfortunately he went into the first corner too hot and the bike washed out on him – meaning Jaymin would finish 8A. The good news is he gets to race this class again next year! In the final round of the Champbikx series, the same corner would end Jaymin’s run – this time in the semi final, and also result in a knee injury. While he fronted up for the National Title 2 days later, the knee injury would turn out to be too much to overcome, and Jaymin would drop out in the quarters.
In the 11 Boys class, Doyle Holl was making his first appearance at a National, and while he rode well, the track was too big, and Doyle did not make it out of the moto’s. Doyle will come back stronger next year when the Nationals will be on home turf.
Our borrowed rider for the weekend, Annaliese Rokov, was riding in the 11 girls class, and easily made it through to the final. She saved her best race for the final, and finished in second place – meaning she would swap her old 3A plate for a new 2A one. An awesome effort by Annaliese.
The team is proudly sponsored by STAATS Bicycles, BB Cycles and Fly Racing.

One Bicycles/ECI press release
The One Bicycles grass roots team hit up the Australian Championships in fine style, each of the team's three riders were up to the challenges of the Adelaide Supercross track and brought home plenty of hardward to prove it.
Chris Van Winden had his best nationals ever making both his finals. On Friday Chris managed a respectable seventh place in a tough 30-34 men's cruiser final. He followed that up on Sunday with a second place in the 30-34 20 inch class. Chris improves with every result, if he keeps getting results at this rate he's going to be unstoppable.
Isabella Penglase is one of those quiet achievers who simply loves racing, the kind of rider who lives to race but never makes a big deal of it. It's no surprise she was cool, calm and collected when she made her first national championships final on the weekend. She was stoked with her fifth place finish in the 10 girls class and so were we. Well done champ!
Kyle Horton is racing in two of the most competitive classes in Australia right now, and he's getting right amongst it with the young guns who are already proving themselves in the pro classes around Australia and on the world stage. In the 15-16 cruiser Kyle took the fourth, you could see he was happy enough with that but Kyle is the type of rider who trains to win, so he turned his focus to his age class, the 16 boys. He made the main for the second year in a row but would have to wait another year for a podium, he backed up his fourth on cruiser with another fourth in age.
That's 5 finals from 5 entries, not many teams would be able to brag a 100% success rate. Congratulations to the riders, you have made us very proud.
How to buy One Bicycles products in Australia
If you would like to purchase a One Bicycles frame or accessories in Australia the best way to do so is to head down to your local bike store and place an order. If they don't know what you are talking about tell them to call Elite Cycle Imports while you wait and place your order there and then. After doing some calculations myself I have found the cheapest way to get One Bicycles products in Australia is through a local reseller.

BMX Australia press release
NEWLY CROWNED National BMX Champion, Melissa Mankowski, has given selectors a reason to keep her in mind when nominations are made for the Australian Olympic Team in June. Mankowski today proved she should not be written off as a chance of making the Beijing Olympics when the sport debuts in August. The 20 year old was desperate for the win on the final day of racing at the Adelaide Showgrounds after apprehension about riding the Supercross course last weekend saw her withdraw.
“It was a more personal thing this weekend,” said Mankowski. “By not racing last weekend and getting fourth in Probikx on Friday I just wanted to do it for me.”
Mankowki injured her hip following the Olympic test event in Beijing on a similar course and maintains she was wary about what could go wrong. However, after winning on the national course today with only slight variations made to the Supercross course, Mankowski could be overcoming her fear.
“It is a good confidence thing to roll down that hill and come away with a win,” said Mankowski.
The win is Mankowski’s twelfth national title but only her first in the elite class.
Defending BMX National Champion, Tanya Bailey from Perth, finished in second place with fellow Western Australians, Catherine Hopkins in third while Nicole Callisto crashed in the first turn.
In the elite men’s final early leader, Kamakazi, was relegated into third by Jared Graves and Luke Madill down the third strait. Graves and Madill fought throughout the final strait with Graves winning the national title by only a half a wheel. Madill claimed second while Billy Jolliffe claimed third
Graves' win also gives him the overall Oceania Ranking series win over world number one, Marc Willers from New Zealand, after a count back.
Local rider, Sam Willoughby won the junior men's national title ahead of Gold Coast's Steven Janssen. Third was Vicotoria's Michael Chasteauneuf.
The junior women's race saw Bunbury's Lauren Reynolds take the win from Townsville's Rachel Bracken. Last year's defending champion, Caroline Buchanan, claimed third.
NOTE: Mankowski is not intending on racing the last Supercross race in Copenhagen next month. This leaves Mankowski with one last chance of a result at the World Championships in Taiyuan in China in June. Following that event nomination for the Australian team will be made. Currently the nation ranking looks hopeful for Australia taking a maximum number of three men and two women.

Mighty 11s press release
Changes to entries accepted for the 2008 Mighty11s Class.
Due to the change in format for this year's event we ran the risk of having a lot of kids miss out on the opportunity to race the Mighty 11s Class. So, with this in mind, there has been a change to the format again. We will allow all 11 year old riders to compete in the Mighty 11s Class. The same criteria will apply to choose the Test Team to tour New Zealand in October (check the Mighty 11s tab on the BMXNSW website).
That is the biggest change. We will keep everyone up to date by the BMXNSW website with any other changes. Any change will be to make it a better event and let every rider have a great time competing in the premier event for junior riders in the world!!!
BMX Australia press release
Here's the results for the Cruiser Classes from the National Titles and the
Final Round/Round 8 of the Probikx & Champbikx National Series
by bmxultra.com
Well not much to report from Day 2, I was in and out of first aid and sports meds for the day after hurting my ankle early in the day in practice only to find out that I would have to spend the rest of the nationals watching from the sidelines. From all accounts the pre-titles, or Adelaide Spectacular as it's known this time around, ran pretty smoothly. There were no finals in the end though, just the three motos.
Day 3 was cruiser day and the final round of the champbikx/probikx national series. It was nice to see Leigh Darrell win the elite cruiser again. Steven Janssen was very consistant winning all of the motos and the main. Simon Anderson reclaimed the 30-34 men's cruiser title again after Danny Galea had dominated the class for the past 2 years. The Karl Mustchin and Brett Scruse show was on again in the 35-39 cruiser class and despite all of Brett's years of a AA pro Karl got the edge and took the title again for the second year running. Tim Ward was racing in the 40-44 class, it's been a long time since Tim Ward had competed at the Australian Championships, last time he did it was as one of the most feared pro riders in Australia. After having won every other race easily he had to settle for third in the main behind Tony Hancox who took the win and Damien Callan in second. In the 15-16 cruiser class Adam Sanderson took a deserved win in a stacked final that included world class riders. In the womens cruiser classes there were some clean sweeps by Harriet Burbidge-Smith (12 & Under cruiser), Madison Janssen (13-14 girls cruiser), Tanya Thiele (17-24 women cruiser) and Karen Turner (40-44 women cruiser).
The probikx and champbikx also made for some exciting racing. Particularly the senior elite men and women. In elite women Sarah Walker jumped out to the early lead with Nicole Callisto in chase, Tanya Bailey had to play catch up after a slow start but jumped into third after shooting for the sky over the doubles into the first corner. Sarah went on to win followed by Nicole and Tanya. The senior elite men was a little preview of what to expect on Sunday but without Khalen Young, and I don't remember seeing Michael Robinson or Michael Fenwick in the mix. In the main, Kamakazi jumped out to the early lead then Jared Graves followed by Luke Madill who looked to be shut out by Kama and Graves down the first straight. Graves looked to make a mistake on the exit of the second corner and allowed Madill to slip into the two spot, but by that point Kama was too far ahead for Madill. Kama took line honours ahead of Madill and Graves. Glenn Codega finished a strong 4th and could be worth keeping an eye out for.
Congratulations to Melissa Mankowski and Jared Graves for winning the Probikx series.
More racing tomorrow.
by bmxultra.com
There was no racing today due to some technical difficulties with the starting hill. The 7.2m high start hill that was used for the Supercross event last weekend was modified. Reducing the height to 5m still made for a hairy starting hill by any standards. Most riders were able to come to terms with it, however it was a little too much for some of the younger riders, and their parents. It was the scaffold that caused the issues and should be sorted out over night.
The show should go on tomorrow, with the pre-titles event. Last I heard the cruiser would be moved to Friday, but if all goes well, that should be the only change to the schedule.

BMX Australia press release
USA youngster David Herman not only made his first final but won the UCI BMX World Cup Supercross in Adelaide. The 19 year old 'dark horse' of the strong American mens team blitzed the field beating Latvian. Maris Strombergs. Third was Australian BMX Olympic hopeful, Kamakazi from Queensland. Fellow Australian finalists Luke Madill and Jared Graves finished sixth and eighth respectively.
All top three riders were finalists for the first time and keen to prove that they deserve to be their nations chosen riders when the Olympic teams are nominated after the World Championships in Taiyuan in early June.
For Herman, to make a final and win from an outside lane was particularly exciting.
I slammed my bike on the ground. I was really happy. There was some hugging. I gave Bubba Harris a hug as he made the semi which is good for him. Were a cheerful group over here, Herman said.
I am 19 and many people think I am heading for the next Olympics (London). Thats what people think I should be going for but Im here and Ive been working hard.
The main reason I did so well was that I wasnt expecting to do so well. I wasnt nervous. I was the most nervous for my first moto and then I was relaxed.
Surprisingly, Herman was the only USA rider to make the final even though fellow team-mate Donny Robinson claimed the fastest time trail.. Favourites, Robinson and Mike Day (USA) both failed to make the final.
Strombergs was a little disappointed with his second place but it was the Australian, Kamakazi, who received the applause from the large Adelaide crowd.
I was pretty lucky to get to the final. This is only my second Supercross and first final so Im thrilled, smiled Kamakazi.
In the womens race world number one rider Sarah Walker from New Zealand claimed victory. The 19 year old punched the air at the finish line after a fall in the first race of the day saw her avoid injury.
I thought I would not be walking off the track after that but my day got better, Walker said.
My gates hadnt been good all day. I chose a wide lane and got a free run into the first corner.
This World Cup Supercross was the first race of the season for the women.
It has been a long time, I haven't ridden on this sort of track since our last Supercross in October last year, pointed out Walker.
Second was the improving Arielle Martin from the United States while Canadian rider, Samantha Cools placed third. Australias National Champion, Tanya Bailey claimed fourth while team mate, Nicole Callisto finished a creditable seventh.
With the Australian riders backing up next week for the National Championships in Adelaide there is one final Supercross event before the UCI BMX World Championships which marks the end of the Olympic selection races.
by Shane Jenkins
I was disappointed to discover that while I was enjoying the UCI Supercross racing at Adelaide yesterday someone had stolen a Victorian registered BMXBMX number plate from my car which was parked in the showgrounds car park. I don't know how any BMXer could steal from a fellow BMXer.
Those plates mean a lot to me personally as they were a gift. I really don't care who stole it or why I would just like to see it returned.
If any one has any information that will lead to the return of the plate I would greatly appreciate it.
If you stole the plate, simply return it to where you found it (on my car) or drop it into the BMXMAD tent at the track and no questions will be asked.
I am quite willing to pay a small reward for their return.
You can email webmaster@bmxultra.com if you have any information.

Intense BMX/Bawls Gurana press release
UCI BMX Supercross Adelaide, Australia
April 12-13 2008 - Round 2 of the 2008 UCI Supercross series headed over to the southern hemisphere in Adelaide, Australia, the 5th largest city in Australia. The Adelaide show grounds is the home of the 2009 BMX World Championships and was a perfect setting for the 2nd round of the Supercross series. The 5 event UCI Supercross series is the 2nd most important event in Olympic Qualifying, just under the World Championships.
Intense BMX/Bawls Gurana team Pro David Herman has had the best season of his young Pro BMX career in 2008, as he currently sits #2 in the ABA Pro points and #5 in the NBL. David traveled to round #1 of the UCI Supercross series in Madrid, Spain last month, where he just missed out on the main event. David set out to do his best in Adelaide, as the weeks before it, he traveled from his home town of Denver, Colorado to the USA Olympic BMX training center in Chula Vista, CA, where the USA has built a replica Supercross track. David spent a few days there, getting used to the giant starting hill and high speeds, as well as the huge gaped jumps that are a Supercross standard.
As practice started, David could tell the trip to Chula Vista paid off, as he felt very comfortable on the track and was riding well. On Saturday, as the time trails would seed the riders for the motos in the event, over 85 riders were on hand to try to qualify for the top 64 spots to move onto the race final. David would finish up 23rd overall and transfer to the finals.
As the race unfolded, David was one of the most consistent riders as he would finish in the top 4 and transfer onto the ¼ finial. Stacked with some of the world’s top riders, as well as many of his fellow USA pros teammates, David placed 4th and went onto the semi final. David would once again have another incredible lap, this time finishing 2nd and making his way to the main event, as the lone USA Pro to do so. As the main event lined up, David was set in gate 8 and had one of his best starts of the night, where he came down the first strait and into the first turn in 2nd place. David was stalking the race leader and was close behind all the way around the track. Going into the last turn, David had made up some ground and was able to pass the race leader and move into the lead and take the biggest race win of his life. This UCI Supercross win propels David as one of the premier Elite Pro riders in the world and will add David to the Team USA BMX race program. David looks forward to the next round in Denmark next month.
The Intense BMX / Bawls Guarana Pro Race team is proudly supported by THE Products, Fly Racing, SINZ Racing Products, Intense Tyre Systems, Shimano, Champion Nutrition, and Ogio.

by bmxultra.com
The UCI Supercross has finally hit Australian shores at the Wayville Showgrounds in Adelaide in South Australia, the same venue for the 2009 World BMX Championships. The dust has settled on the Tom Ritz built track after day 1 of the event. The track was a little smaller than Supercross tracks of the past due to the restrictions of the indoor venue, but that didn't make it any less technical for the riders, or any less exciting for spectators for that matter. The start hill, standing at 7.2 m tall, is also a little lower and shorter than what riders would expect, and since the track was built to cater for both the male and female classes some of the jumps look small for some of the faster male competitors, while some of the girls struggled. Jamie Gray had a big crash in practice which put him out of racing, fellow Australian's Michael Fenwick and Melissa Mankowski were healthy scratches.
In the elite women Australian Champion, Tanya Bailey, seems to have found her feet again after struggling to make a podium in recent times. She finished up the fastest of the Australian Women qualifying 5th after Jana Horakova, Ariel Martin, Sarah Walker, and Samantha Cools. Former World Champion Gabriela Diaz, and American duo Jill Kitner and Amanda Geving qualified in 6th to 8th places. Other Australian's Nicole Calisto and Lauren Reynolds rounded out the top 10.
In the men's class there's no bigger story than 16 year old local boy Sam Willoughby finished in 17th in a star studded field including the likes of Donny Robinson, Luke Madill, Robert Dewilde, Michal Prokop, Mike Day, Thomas Allier, Bubba Harris, Maris Strombergs, Steve Cisar, Khalen Young, Arturs Matisons and so many more. Sam Willoughby was the early pace setter, but the top quailfying spot changed a number of times through the two qualifying rounds. By the time it was over Donny Robinson ended up on top with Maris Strombergs in the 2 spot and Australia's Luke Madill in 3rd. Bubba Harris continues to show he's on his way back to the top of his game qualifying in 10th, while Ivo Lakucs and Javier Columbo managed to just scrape in to qualify for day 2.
With the women's field narrowed down to 16 riders and the men down to 64, Spectators will be treated to some great racing tomorrow. I personally will be very interested to see how 8 riders will squeeze through the first corner.

(19-27x & 21-25 Cruiser). His decision to come on board gives the winged crew a strong rider in these classes and a solid top 3 podium finisher throughout the year. Expect to see Korban flying his Floval Flyer to the winners circle throughout the year and making us proud! When Korban is not riding trials or tearing up the track you can catch him working at Circuit City in the High Desert and attending college for Graphic Arts.
Brandon Schreuder is the other addition from the 760. Brandon will be sporting the Baby Blue and Silky Chocolate Colors in the 15x and 24” Cruiser Classes. He is a serious threat on and off the track and we expect to be seeing him bringing his 08’ Quad or PK Ripper Team to many top podium finishes. In addition to racing BMX Brandon IS A MOTOCROSS RACING STUD!. He translated his BMX skills and talents and been tearing up the local motocross scene. Don’t be surprised in the near future you hear his name lining up on the gate next to Bubba or Reid on the AMA Series.
Cole Accord is keeping it real for the SE crew out of Sylvester, GA. His will be competing on a Ripper X in the 10 yr old Expert Class. For 2007, this Lil Ripper took a 5th at the Worlds, won the Florida State Title and has been the Georgia State Champion for his age group for the last 3 years. His favorite food is Fried Chicken Salad and his is keeping it real out at the Chehaw BMX Track .
Team STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly press release
Saturday 5th April saw Perth get its monthly rainfall in one day. With round 3 of the Super Series due the following day, people were wondering how the track would hold up. This would be the last opportunity to race before a lot of riders headed to the Nationals.
Sunday saw the sun out, and for the second race in a row, more than 500 nominations for a race meet, with only a few riders going for the “cotton wool” option before the Nationals. While the track looked okay, if it was a horse track, it would be classified as “dead” – but what could you expect after 60mm of rain the day before! A slow dropping gate saw the first 3 pro races end up with at least one rider over the bars, and the lack of line marking on the track made for some interesting lines in the corners!
The STAATS / BB Cycles / Fly race team was back for another event – this race with 4 riders taking part.
Grace McDonald is paying the price for an early birthday, and is still the only 8yo girl racing and was again forced to race with 9 and 10 year old girls. Grace rode strong all day, and made it through to the finals - which was a fantastic effort.
The 11 Boys expert class is one of the tougher in WA, and Doyle Holl made it through the motos to the final without any problems, but an off track excursion meant he would not make the podium this weekend. Doyle will race his first National Titles in Adelaide this month.
With the Nationals getting close, Daniel Cobham chose to stick with one class this weekend – the ultra competitive 13 Boys expert. Daniel piloted the STAATS Pro to 1 – 3 (hitting the gate) – 1 in his moto’s, and sat back for a comfortable second in the semi. An average gate in the final left him in 3rd going into the last corner, and while trying to rail the 1800 corner, the soft track washed all his speed off, and he backed off – finishing 5th. Daniel’s next race will be the National Titles in Adelaide.
The elder member of the team (at 15!), Jaymin King was having his first race on his new STAATS Pro XXL and looked real smooth. Jaymin lined up in the 15 Boys Expert class, and the A-Pro. In the 15’s, Jaymin went 1-6 (another slippery corner while leading) -1 in the moto’s, ensuring a wide lane choice in the finals, and finished second. The A-Pro was a different story – with Jaymin winning all 3 mains! Jaymin is peaking at just the right time and will be hard to beat in Adelaide.
The team is proudly sponsored by STAATS Bicycles, BB Cycles and Fly Racing.

We caught up with Michael Fenwick to see what he has planned for the future. With the Supercross round in his home town of Adelaide and the Australian Championships the following weekend it will be interesting to see if that's just the edge he needs.

ABA press release
The American Bicycle Association hosted the Super Nationals this past weekend, March, 27-30 in Desoto, TX. The racing at the Super National event was just that, SUPER! The city of Desoto, TX. and the Metroplex crew really stepped it up with a brand new covered staging addition to the facility being added just for this event. ABA BMX ace track builder, Billy Allen, also built a very challenging track just for this event. This was the third PRO Series event of the year and Metroplex facility has become one of the PRO Riders favorite stops on the tour. The Metroplex BMX facility was the first of it's kind in the world and it has some of the best dirt in the country. The, fans, riders, and industry all come out in full force each year for this event.
With the 2008 Olympic debut just around the corner for BMX racing, the buzz and hype is all around. There is getting to be more and more of the media frenzy at each event. Many of the sports top athletes from around the world were on hand to take a shot at getting some much needed points towards the ABA BMX titles. The 2008 season is shifting into high gear and the fans are loving it! Round three continued to be Danny C.and David Herman show. They were spotted all over the PRO podiums on the weekend. "DR" Donny Robinson made an appearance for the fans in Desoto and nailed down a solid second in AA PRO on day #1. Past 3-time ABA National #1 PRO, Bubba Harris, continued to show the fans he's on the comeback trail. Bubba was seen making some of his pattended swoop moves in the turns and looked great through the rhythm sections. It was great to see Bubba back up on the podium and I expect to see that a lot more from the former champ! Current ABA National #1 PRO, Danny "Easy Money" Caluag, continued his win streak of at least winning one at each of the ABA BMX PRO series stops. "Easy Money" brought home his third AA PRO win of the season on day one. Day #2 saw Danny C. in the main but some tough racing kept him off the box. Danny is proving once again his ABA National #1 PRO tile was no fluke! Day #2 saw Kyle Bennett take his first AA PRO win of the year. Kyle looks to be making a very strong bid for the USA's first ever BMX Olympic team. Kyle seems to be on a mission and on track to be in China in 2008. One things for sure, Kyle is one exciting guy to watch! David Herman put in another solid ride on day #2 with a second for the day and his performance for the weeknd also moved him up to 2nd in the ABA BMX PRO points battle charts behind team mate Danny C. Day #2 also saw Randy Stumpfhauser back on the podium. Randy looked to be one of the fastest guys all weekend. Which was a surprise considering he was just coming off a bad injury. Stumpy is about as solid as they come in the PRO ranks and you can never count the guy out for a win.
On the Ladies side we saw the return of ABA National #1 ladies PRO Alise Post. Everyone was excited to see the showdown between Alise and Dominique Daniels. And the ladies didn't disappoint the fans! They battled out all weekend long and the Metroplex stands were going crazy! Alise showed why she's #1 and stood on top of the box both days. Dominique stayed strong and should she know "rookie" taking home a 2nd and 3rd for the weekend. Day #1 saw Amanda Geving on the box with a solid 3rd. Day #2 saw another rookie PRO sensation Rachel Luna finish up the day with a solid 2nd. The ladies racing has really stepped it up over the last couple of years and the new crop of younger woman is very promissing for more excitement to come.
Pro Cruiser was the ABA National #1 PRO Cruiser rider Danny C., Kenth Fallen, and Tyler Brown battling out this weekend. These three went at it toe to toe and when the dust settled it was Tyler Brown with a one, two for the weekend. Danny C. had a bad crash on day #1's main event, but he came back strong on day #2 win another big win. Kenth Fallen hung tough with a two and three for the weekend. Mike GUL should he can still hang with the big boys and nailed down a 3rd on day #1. The PRO Cruiser battle charts have really tightened up and it should be a very interesting season to see who comes out on top.
Vet Pro was one heck of a show between Fallen, Street, and Tim Dinger. Kenth Fallen continued to show he`s the man to beat in Vet PRO right. Kenth picked up the VET PRO win both days and now looks to be stretching out his points lead for the season. Chad Street looked as fast as ever and was all over Kenth most of the weekend. Chad had some bad luck come main time, but many of fans were calling the home town boy for a win. Chad was able to bring home a 2nd and 3rs for the weekend. Onther rider that continues to impress is the skinny kid out of North Carolina. Tim Dinger has some blazing speed and skills to pay the bills. Many say Dinger made the move of the weekend when Chad Street went down in turn two in front of Dinger and Tim just bunny hopped him and didn't miss a beat on the track. It was a very impressive piece of riding I must say. Both Street and Dinger look to be title contender come ABA Grands time!
The ABA, the city of Desoto, TX. and the entire Metroplex crew would like to thank all the participants, families, teams, sponsors, and BMX industry for helping make the Desoto, TX. event such a huge success!

Round 3 of the 2008 ABA Pro Series, the ABA Super Nationals was held in conjunction with the 2008 USA Cycling National Championships at the Desoto BMX Track. The Desoto BMX facility is one of the nicest BMX arenas in the USA and it made for some great racing for both the ABA event and the USAC National Championships. This was the 2nd year for the USAC National Championships and this year it has become part of the Olympic Selection events for the Elite Men. The ABA race series is moving into full swing and this weekend would be another important stop for the riders who are looking to win the ABA #1 year end title. The Double A Marketing riders are all looking to do just that, and here is how they finished up at this weekends event:
Kyle Bennett has been the most consistent racer of 2008 and has his long term goal of the 2008 Olympics looking to become a reality in the next few months. Kyle has won all the important races in the USA for the Olympic selection so far this season and at the USAC National Championships, he kept that streak alive. Kyle won the Elite Men's class on Saturday night, adding another title to his impressive list, as well as more points towards becoming the automatic selection athlete for team USA. Team ABD press release
During the Easter weekend, the New Zealand BMX Championships were held and this year at North Avon, Christchurch – which is in the South Island.
This was the first nationals in NZ to have the random gate, which went down well with all most riders. The start hill was very flat, but had a fast first straight. Team ABD was out in force with team signings, media interviews and great racing.
Sarah Walker was unbeatable all weekend, with a good lead up to some major events coming this year. Victoria Hill was close on her tail in most races, showing that as a young junior she has some potential as she heads to the World Champs.
Auckland’s master veteran, Richard Mclachlan riding only his cruiser this weekend and first time back into the age group. He had a great win to add to his list of national titles over the last 22 years. Shane Eady backed up his last year’s number two with another one this year in a tough age group of 16 year old boys.
Taranaki’s Rhys Telford in Elite Men had an amazing race, with Marc Willers winning from start to finish; the other riders were fighting it out behind. Rhys got a great start and popped himself into third, but having some trouble holding this going into the third straight, got passed and had to settle for sixth.
