30/09 ONE Bicycles Australia Report – Justin "CheekyBoy" Beattie Wins the Ten Boy class at Castle Hill Open

ONE Bicycles Australia press release
Orange Blossom open Castle Hill N.S.W by Jim Beattie
Castle Hill BMX club is known for putting on a great race and this year they didn't disappoint.
The Castle Hill boys had spent long weekends getting ready for the big event and the track surface was grippy, smooth and uniform. It looked and rode great.

This is always Justin's last hit out before the N.S.W state titles and he was keen for a ride before the big event.
CheekyBoy had a comfortable run through the motos and picked lane 8 in the final just to liven things up a bit. The final saw Justin come out of the gate a bit slow and was in a fight for the lead with his best mate (Will Moran) who came underneath and rode him up out of turn one. Justin put the foot down and took the lead by jumping low through the second straight and cruised through for the win.

Along with the win Justin also got to meet fellow ONE Bicycles Australia Team member Issy Penglass and also spend some time with his good mates the Rose tribe.

29/09 New Risen BMX forks

by bmxultra.com
There are some new race forks by Risen BMX that will hit the market around November and if they look suspiciously like Marzocchi Sinister forks, that's because BMX legend Greg Hill is behind these forks as well. We asked him a couple of questions about the forks and Risen BMX, here's the scoop.

Risen BMX forks by Greg Hillbmxultra.com: Tell us about Risen BMX and your new forks

Greg: My wife and I started Sinister Steering Systems about 10 years ago, after a year we were getting traction and then I met the guy's at Marzocchi, we entered into a business deal where we got the short end of the stick, sold our interest and walked away..Bad situation for sure...I left the sport for a few years as a result of that and regrouped, got back in and ultimately it led to the return of GHP BMX in 2005. So about 1 year ago my wife said "hey, we should finish what we started with the fork project" I said let's start looking at the market and see what is going on. We decided the aftermarket fork business needed some new blood and started Risen BMX, we now have an LLC corp, all our business is layed out with a 5 year plan and we just got our first sample 20" Risen BMX forks about 4 days ago. They're on my bike and I have to beat them up for about 2 weeks. The fork legs are made of 6061 T6 aluminum extruded and CNC'd, the crown is 7005 aluminum as well as the steer tube. They weigh about 30 ounces and look like the stealth plane, very cool looking for sure.

Risen BMX will be sold as direct marketing to the end user right off our website www.risenbmx.com and the site will be fully operational within 6 weeks. Made in the United States. In regard to the Sinisters, Risen BMX is from the same family tree just a different branch and much improved, were going after the fork market with everything we have. The company is formed and founded by myself and my wife Liz Hill. We have been friends for 35 years and married for 16, have 4 kids Gregory 25, Loren 23, Christine 22, and Jeremy 12, also have a 4 year old grandaughter and 1 year old grandson. It's all family and BMX 24/7 lol.

bmxultra.com: Why alloy? Why not carbon, cro-mo or some other material?

Greg: The reason for aluminum extrusion is simply by design it is simple and aircraft quality looking. If you examine most carbon forks they are just carbon wrapped around aluminum, all carbon forks I have seen are not very light considering they are carbon. The GHP cromoly fork is 28 ounces and is lighter than most every carbon fork I have seen. I believe the Answer Scythe fork is 27 ounces however you probably cannot find one lol. I like to forge our own path with new and different things.

So there you have it folks, new forks from Greg Hill, keep an eye out on www.risenbmx.com.

29/09 BSX2010 - working bee this Sunday

by bmxultra.com
BSX2010, a Royal Children's Hospital fund raiser, will be on again on Monday 18 January 2010. It will be the fifth running of the one on one backyard BMX race.

The clean up of the track is well under way and there looks to be a good break in the rain coming up this weekend. We have some track changes planned for this Sunday October 4 as well as a bit of a lunch time birthday BBQ for Shane, so bring your shovels and your bikes and head up to Kinglake for a few hours. We'll be kicking off at 10am. If you are interested in helping out drop an email to webmaster@bmxultra.com and let us know you are coming and if you have any further questions.

This just in - Keep an eye on the Auction
We don't want to get into too much detail just yet, but one of the true legends of BMX might have some signed t-shirts for us to auction at BSX. It's not Scot Breithaupt who signed some Joe Kid DVD's a couple of years ago, but just as legendary, or maybe even more so. Just as the DVD's went for big bucks, these probably will too, so all you collectors start saving, this is going to be big.

Track
We have big plans for track changes over the coming months, if you are able to help swing a shovel, drive a bobcat or just help ride the track and roll the new changes in then keep an eye out for up coming working bees.

Volunteers needed
We will also need some new volunteers for administration leading up to the event as well as running the event on the day. Jobs include parking attendants, ticket sales on the gate, taking entries, selling raffle tickets, manning the silent auctions, track maintenance and so on.

Riders
We have already had verbal confirmation that Aussie BMX legend and Olympian Luke Madill is planning on coming. If you are interested in the event drop us an email webmaster@bmxultra.com to help us determine how many riders to expect, we would need to know what class you would like to ride (Open men, Open women or 30 & Over Open wheel) where you are from (City/State) and your name. Generally we end up with 32 riders in the Open mens class, about 12 in the 30 & Over open wheel and 2-4 Open women. But there is plenty of room for more.

Partnership opportunities
If you would like to be involved in BSX2010 we will have partnership packages available soon, email webmaster@bmxultra.com for details. Basically we are looking for donations or products for auctions/raffles. 100% of profits raised will go directly to the Royal Children's Hospital.

BSX is presented by bmxultra.com and proudly supported by

About BSX
BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider's skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are very intense under race conditions but also fun for competitors and create quite a lot of entertainment for spectators. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the Track Attack series. The events primary function is to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation. In just four years the event has raised approximately $15,000 which has provided the hospital with new equipment. Funds have been raised through gate takings, raffles, auctions and donations.

About the Royal Children's Hospital
'The Royal Children's Hospital is the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and provides a full range of clinical services and health promotion and prevention programs for infants through to adolescents. Each year the Royal Children's Hospital treats tens of thousands of children through our Emergency Department, inpatient admissions and outpatient visits. The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation plays a vital role in providing additional funding to support important research projects and purchase state of the art medical equipment to ensure that every child receives the very best treatment now and into the future.

29/09 Clark wins Qld Crown

bike media press release
Clark misses crash to clinch Queensland BMX title
Sunshine Coast’s Joel Clark left nothing to chance at the Queensland BMX State Championships on the Gold Coast today. Clark was lucky to be ahead of a fall in the first straight but then had to await a photo finish to determine first and second. Clark was declared winner and local favourite, Steven Janssen had to be satisfied with second.

“I’ve been racing states for five years and finally I’ve got one,” said Clark.

Clark’s training partner, Dirk Winter and  yesterday’s national series winner, was involved in the crash and finished in eighth place. Third was Andrew Gillett from Western Australia.

For Gold Coast girl, Cherie Simpson, a win in the state titles today finished off a stellar weekend after she won the national series race yesterday. The 18 year old was again challenged by former dual world champion, Jaclyn Wilson-Thompson. The 32 year old mother of two from Bendigo just faulted slightly during the race leaving Simpson to take it out.

“It’s my first Queensland title,” exclaimed Simpson.”It was a close race as I had two faster ones who had beaten me in the motos but I stuck to my race plan and it turned out the way I wanted it to. I’ve had a really good weekend and I’m wrapped with my results.”

Junior men’s winners were a repeat of yesterday’s national round places with Victoria’s Matthew Dunsworth and Perth’s Darryn Goodwin placing first and second respectively.

“It was tougher than yesterday,” declared Dunsworth. “Back to back’s not bad.”

Former World Champion, Melinda McLeod from Mackay returned to form to win the state junior women’s title over Gold Coast’s Lacey Oliver. McLeod withdrew from racing on Saturday and missed the finals of the national round.

“It hasn’t been a great weekend. I had to pull out of the Probikx yesterday as I had a stomach virus,” explained McLeod.

McLeod had obviously recovered by today though to take the win.

“It’s so good the competition we’ve got there’s Lacey (Oliver) and Molly (Nichols-Pavy) up there,” McLeod said.

Several Mackay riders picked up wins in both the national round and the state championships and according to McLeod they and the track will be ready to host next year’s State Championships.

“It’s looking good for Mackay we’ve picked up a few plates here this weekend. The home track is going to be good for next year. I only live about ten minutes from the track so I won’t have so far to travel then!” laughed McLeod.

The Masters 30 plus men’s race was won by the local club favourite, Justin Lamb from Ashmore.

Winter wows BMX national series with first win
Two Queensland riders took out the first round of the BMX National Tour on the Gold Coast today.  Sunshine Coast rider, Dirk Winter returned to national racing by taking out first round of the National Tour on the Gold Coast.  The 19 year old took to the lead after training partner Joel Clark left a gap.

“I was pushing it. I gave it everything,” exclaimed Winter. “Overall I’m probably the best under pressure. I use that pressure and it makes me ride better. I put pressure on everybody else and come out on top.”

Winter was a world silver medallist at 14 years of age and admits to having ‘lived and breathed’ BMX. However after recently taking a year and a half off the bike the 19 year old has discovered a renewed enthusiasm for the sport.

Second was strong local rider, Steven Janssen from Nerang. Third was Perth rider, Brock Murray.

The elite women’s race came down to the line with local rider, Cherie Simpson winning after her nearest rival, Jaclyn Wilson-Thompson from Bendigo crashed on the line.

“It was pretty tough,: said Simpson. The 18 year old from Mermaid Waters rider was challenged in the final metres but was not worried.

“I knew I had that last straight over that girl. I ride this track fairly regularly,” she said.

To crash just before the finish line was disappointing for the former two time world champion. “I think maybe I was going a little bit too hard,” she explained. For Wilson – Thompson this race marked her return to elite race in over a decade. “ I’m loving it. It’s great to be mixing it with the best,” she explained.

Eventual second place went to Kelly Percy from Brisbane and Victorian Erin Anderson finished in third.

After tough racing in the junior men the win was secrured by Victoria’s Matthew Dunsworth. Last year’s series winner Darryn Goodwin from Perth had to be content with second.

Junior women’s race was taken by the world plate holder, Lacey Oliver from the Gold Coast. In her first junior elite race Oliver was comfortably ahead of South Australian Molly Nicols-Pavy.

The elite trials were dominated by three Nerang riders, Steven Janssen (elite men), Cherie Simpson (elite women) and Lacey Oliver (junior elite women. Western Australia’s Darryn Goodwin from the Hills Club won the junior elite men’s time trial.

Winners of the Champbikx races were:

14 boys, Aaron Nottle, Westside, PERTH WA

15 girls, Rachel Jones, Lake Macquarie, NEWCASTLE NSW

15 boys, Jack Buchhorn, Mackay Pioneer, MACKAY QLD

16 girls, Chelsea King, Beenleigh, BRISBANE QLD

16 boys, Corey Frieswyk, Mackay Pioneer, MACKAY r QLD

28/09 ONE Bicycles Australia Report – Castle Hill Orange Blossom

ONE Bicycles Australia press release
Castle Hill Orange Blossom By Miekel Rose
Each September the Castle Hill BMX Club in Sydney hold the Orange Blossom event. This event attracts 300 riders and is the last shootout before the N.S.W. Titles.
The club had worked tirelessly to resurface the track and it was fast and smooth. This is a favourite track for the kids and they look forward to racing there each year. We had travelled up to the Titles track a few weeks before this event and visited the Castle Hill track on the way home for some practice.

Mikayla hadn’t raced an open event since the World Titles and was looking forward to renewing her rivalry with Bianca Robertson who is the current W5 plate holder in the 9 Girls 20” division. Mikayla raced like a child possessed and managed to clean sweep the event not dropping one moto. She was well ahead of the field and her determination was evident. Mikayla is manualing and trying to jump everything she can at the moment. She jumped on her cruiser to mix it up with the 13 and under Junior Ladies Cruiser division too and managed an overall third place for the day. Mikayla is hoping to bring home the number 1 plate this year and also plate on her cruiser. She looks like she may be on task to do so.

Nikalus hadn’t had a good year, or should I say 12 months. He knocked himself out at the 2008 Victorian Titles after sitting in the top 3 on both 20 and cruiser for the event. Earlier this year he managed one round of the NSW Southern Series coming 3rd on 20 and winning 11-12 Boys Cruiser, then at the ACT Championships crashed in warm up, knocking himself out again and breaking his arm, which required surgery. He then raced the Aussies after only having the cast removed a week before the event and failed to qualify for the Worlds. The Orange Blossom was his first event this year to see how he stacked up against his competition. As you could imagine we were both nervous and curious how he would go.

Nik raced well on 20, coming home with an overall 2nd for the event behind his good mate W1 Andy Hughes. On cruiser Nik rode well but continued to pull himself out of his pedals. Due to the pedal situation at one stage, gave the field a 20m head start and ran the field down to manage a third in one of his motos. Nik made it to the finals and was still struggling with the pedals and only managed a 6th. Time for new pedals I believe. Nik was happy and enjoyed being back in some kind of form.

Joshua loves this track and has been training hard on his strength and fitness. He still needs work with his gate and acknowledges this. On his 20” he rode well sitting in the top 4 all day. At the end of the motos there was a 3 way run off for the last spot on the gate for the final. Josh had a shocker gate and followed the other two riders for the first 2 straights before getting one spot back along the 3 straight. He had left his run too late and missed the final by a bike length. He was a little disappointed but was determined to make it up on cruiser. He was on fire in the 13-14 Boys Cruiser and at the end of the motos was sitting in third. In the final he rode very well and managed to secure the third spot for the class. Josh is hoping to get his first plate this year at the NSW Titles and has been training hard to achieve it.

The day was made more fun because Issy Penglase had travelled up from Victoria with her Dad Craig to race at the event. It was the first time the younger members of the ONE Bicycles Australia Team were together. Justin Beattie’s Dad Jim and Mother Nat took a number of photos of the Team together and they had a ball hanging out with each other at the event. I would like to thank Jim’s parents for returning home to get Justin’s spare jersey so Mikayla could wear the Team Jersey for the photos, as she is awaiting the new jersey to land in Australia form the Netherlands. Her old team jersey now takes pride of place in the lounge room, framed with a signature and a photo with Maris Strombergs. Big thanks to Craig for bringing Issy up to the event. It was great to have her there and the kids had a ball together. Also another huge thanks to Shane Jenkins and the lads at ECI for getting the Cruiser handlebars to the kids in time for the event. Maybe I should have ordered some pedals for Nik whilst I was at it!!!!

A great Day for the ONE Bicycles Australia Team, riding great bikes with good friends!

25/09 Queensland State Titles/national BMX series on the Gold Coast

by bikemedia
The BMX Queensland State Championships are gearing up to be one of the biggest events on the Australian calendar with state titles up for grabs from tomorrow at Ashmore on the Gold Coast. Over 1350 race entries over the weekend will be chasing a prize pool of over $ 9 000. The action will heat up even more on Saturday morning with the first of seven rounds in the National Series.
For many it will be their push to make it into the Olympic team for London in 2012. The line-up boasts the national bronze medallist from Adelaide, Matthew Willoughby. Willoughby’s younger brother, Sam, is currently overseas and leading the World Cup Series. Matthew will be just as serious on making the national series his goal this season.
Willoughby will have a tough time defeating the Sunshine Coast duo of Dirk Winters and Joel Clark. Both Winters and Clark have dominated the last ten state level events and will be hard to beat.
Another rider, Nathan Graves from Toowoomba, may also find it hard to better his brother, Jared Graves’, recent overall win of the mountain bike world cup series in four cross.
Local support will be behind Steven Janssen from Nerang while Western Australian rider, Andrew Gillett, will be out to make his trip worth his while.
Fellow Western Australian rider, Darryn Goodwin from the Hills club, will be out to make his mark in the junior men this series after winning the 16 boys champbikx last season. Also out to reclaim a champbikx titles will be Bodi Turner from Eastfield (VIC) and Jack Buchhorn from Mackay (QLD).
Another successful Mackay rider, Melinda McLeod is hoping to claim some points in the probikx junior women’s race after winning the overall for 15 girls. Beenleigh’s Chelsea King (QLD) and Sarah Harvey from Pine Rivers (QLD) will be out to reclaim their champbikx crowns again this season.
In the warm-up event on Wednesday in the pre-titles Bundaberg’s Kurt Grambower took the elite men’s top place while Gladstone’s Daniel Wallace placed second. Third was Mark Miles from Centenary Plains.
The elite women’s Bendigo’s Jaclyn Wilson-Thompson (VIC) dominated over junior rider, Gemma Sloane from Nhulunbuy (NT). Mackay rider, Ashley Wyatt picked up third.
After the Queensland titles official opening tomorrow racing gets underway with the 24 inch or cruiser classes. On Saturday morning the first round of the national series racing will be followed in the afternoon by challenge classes and the younger sprockets.
The elite and other age classes return to the track on Sunday for the 20 inch state title finals. Racing is expected to finish by 2 pm.

25/09 Tasmanian State Titles

by Graeme Falla Secretary BMX Tasmania Inc.
I am writing to you to invite along anyone at your club that may be interested in coming down to Tassie to compete in our State Titles. The event will be held on the weekend of the 31th Oct.& 1st Nov 09, and would make a great Vic pre-titles hit out. So if you're keen to get out of Victoria and get some 'overseas' racing in before the Vic states, then come and try your luck at the Tassie State Titles.

If you would be so kind as to advertise our event among your members it would be greatly appreciated. A contingent of at least 10 Tassie riders will be hitting Melbourne in late November to compete in the Vic titles, so please take this opportunity to secure yourself a "T" plate, to make up for the "V" plates that we will be taking home.

I am looking forward to seeing as many Victorian riders down here at our State Titles as possible. This year's Tassie Titles are in Launceston, and we still run a format where all classes race on both event days, so come along and have a great weekend of racing.

24/09 Denmark will host another two great cycling World Championships In 2011

Sport Event Denmark press release
The future of cycling in Denmark is bright!  The International Cycling Union (UCI) Management Committee met in Lugano today to decide on a host for the 2011 BMX World Championships and for 2011 UCI Para-cycling World Championships. Denmark was awarded both events!

2011 is shaping up to be a momentous year as Denmark is honoured to host another two great cycling world championships in 2011: 2011 UCI BMX World Championships and 2011 UCI Para-cycling World Championships. Previously Denmark has previously been assigned the 2011 UCI Road World Championships.

"With continual inspiration created through the UCI Bike City brand, Denmark is persistently looking for opportunities to strengthen the commitment to the sport of cycling. Hosting the 2011 UCI BMX World Championships and 2011 UCI Para-cycling World Championships in combination with the 2011 UCI Road World Championships offers a unique opportunity to create an unprecedented marketing platform that can serve as a benchmark for the sport in years to come. Also the sequence of these events will attract continual media exposure for cycling in Denmark," says Lars Lundov, CEO, Sport Event Denmark.

"We presented a strong bid concept focusing on creating a breakthrough for BMX, establishing it as a dominant Olympic cycling discipline. We have hosted two very successful BMX World Cups in 2008 and 2009 as a part of the "Bike City Copenhagen" cooperation between Copenhagen and the UCI. A brand new BMX track in the centre of the city has received praise from BMX specialists, athletes and media and it is ranked among the best in the world," says Jørgen Bitsch, president of the Danish Motor Union.

Lars Vallentin, Business Development Manager, Wonderful Copenhagen, the city's tourism agency says: "The 2011 World Championships is crucial in building the right momentum for BMX. At our state of the art permanent BMX track Copenhagen is determined to create the best platform for the sport to grow and be promoted in the years leading up to the 2012 Olympics. Therefore we are also pleased to be hosting the SX world cup in 2010 before the best cycling year ever - 2011 in Copenhagen".

"To host the 2011 UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships is a great opportunity to show that Danish athletes can make themselves known on an international level", states Karl Vilhelm Nielsen, President of NPC Denmark, "and at the same time we believe that large events within sports for the disabled in Denmark will give a lot of media attention to disabled sports and have a positive effect on our sports clubs as well as increase focus on accessibility for people with a disability. 2011 will already have a lot of focus on cycling as the UCI Cycling Road World Championships and other cycling event will take place the same year and therefore we see great opportunities in the synergy that will come when Denmark will host 3 major cycling events in 2011, continues Karl Vilhelm Nielsen.

22/09 New feature "Cover Your Tracks"

by bmxultra.com
Here at bmxultra.com we try to keep things a little different to make your visit worthwhile. We have been given a Tachyon XC 2010 Helmet Camera from the guys over at Tachyon to review and we thought we would put it to some good use.

Our idea is to show you a rider's perspective of a full lap or tracks that we hit up, and we plan to do this on an ongoing basis.

We'll try to use guest pilots where possible, the first test pilot is Chris Van Winden from the One Bicycles Australia team.

The first of the "Cover Your Tracks" videos was taken right here at the bmxultra.com backyard. The track was neglected over winter, so after a day of tidy up work you can see how the track has come up so far, and yes there is a lot more work to do. We'll take other videos to show you the progress over the next few months.

All the videos are high quality so we are sorry if you don't have a fast internet connection, it could take a while to download them.

If you are interested in helping out drop an email to webmaster@bmxultra.com and let us know you are coming and if you have any further questions.

Track
We have big plans for track changes over the coming months, if you are able to help swing a shovel, drive a bobcat or just help ride the track and roll the new changes in then keep an eye out for up coming working bees.

14/09 Josh Callan @ Sth African Supercross

Josh Callan press release
It has been an interesting season for Josh Callan as he has had some mixed results throughout the year. He finished a great 4th in AA men whilst racing in the USA in Southpark's Star and Strips. He also set the 5th fastest lap time of any man at the world titles in his 8th final only to be knocked off his bike whilst sitting a qualifying position in his quarter final. Josh has attended 2 supercross races the first in Denmark where he was ranked 39th after the time trial and came 5th's in his motos not transferring into quarters. Josh showed a huge improvement at the 2nd round of the Supercross at Pietermaritzburg in Sth Africa. Josh came in 15th in the time trial and made the semi final unfortunately crashing down the 1st straight after Mike Day moved across on him over the first jump. Josh was really pleased with his improvement and feels he is on track to achieve his goal of qualifying and then medalling at the 2012 Olympics. Josh would like to congratulate his team mate Sam Willoughby on his fantastic win. Josh would also like to thank Cycling Australia and his coach Wade Bootes for the opportunity and guidance given to him. Also his sponsors Redline, THE, FUNN, Answer. Josh will now take a break from the supercross circuit and concentrate on completing year 12 so that next year he can really focus on his BMX racing.

11/09 Morphine Industries Hits Derby City for the NBL Grands

Morphine Industries press release
The NBL Grands, One of the few races that everyone always looks forward to has finally came and past, with Morphine Industries leaving its mark yet again. It was a long hot weekend with tons of great racing action.

Super X - Tyler Faoro who has been on a hot streak all season led the team with the first win of the weekend in the most stacked super-x class of the season on Friday night at the Last chance qualifier national. And with a small ball up in turn 1 FERRO pulled a very respectable 5th place in the Grand National main event putting him in 4th place overall in super x points.

Super X -Gavin Lubbe was tearing it up all weekend blowing through qualifiers but coming unclipped in the semi kept him from making the big show. But Gavin ended up #7 over all in super x points.

Elite Women - Kyla Reed gave it a go against the stacked Elite women’s class all weekend with her trademark park and dirt style. Blowing a tire and a few other hard knocks unfortunately kept her out of the main on Sunday.

Doran Bradshaw who had one of the biggest cruiser classes of the weekend with 43 riders came to prove a point at the Grands. Doran easily made it through quarters and semi's to make the big show, pulling off a 5th place and a national #5 plate

12 Expert - Noah Reeves made the trek from south Florida to come put a stompin to the 12 year old experts this year. Noah Killed his motos with 1st place finishes in all 3 and easily made it out of his quarters. Some bump and grinding and bad luck kept kept Noah out of the Main.

10 Expert - Lil Richie "air dog" Dey, the kid everyone stops to watch race killed it this weekend. Richie started his rampage Friday night at the UGP open easily making the main event and pulling off a killer 2nd place finish. AIR DOG Kept the momentum going for the next 2 days of racing and in his typical big air fashion ended up boostin’ his way to a 4th place finish in 10x.

Look for The Morphine Industries crew to hit the ABA East Coast Redline Finals, then it’s off to Chula Vista baby!!! And don’t forget the ABA Disney Cup

Morphine Industries would like to thank its Factory Team Sponsors for a great NBL season. 10/09 SE/Hundreds 26" PK Ripper Looptail Bike!

SE Bikes press release
SE Bikes is set to release the first ever 26” PK Ripper Looptail this week. But as you can clearly see, we have designed this highly anticipated bike in collaboration with The Hundreds streetwear clothing company. Check out the custom Jags motif on the entire frame, fork, & bars. For sure you’ve never seen a bike like this before.

Since Day One, The Hundreds has been about California Culture / Los Angeles Lifestyle. California has been a breeding ground for some of the world's most prolific subcultures. From the punk scene of the '80s, to gangsta rap and skateboarding, California lifestyle is all about Doing It Yourself, questioning authority and the norm, and being different. At the core, The Hundreds is influenced by this attitude, and all the various subcultures that we grew up in during the 80s and 90s. The SE/Hundreds collaboration bike follows the same logic

Direct from The Hundreds:
“I think it was Smokey Robinson who said cruisers are made for loving. And The Hundreds have to agree with that. So we’ve teamed up with one of the longest standing, and most respected names in BMX, the pioneers at SE Bikes, to develop this completely original, and custom made from scratch 26” cruiser. The design is based on SE’s world famous PK Ripper – one of the most popular and longest selling bikes in the history of the sport. Scot “OM” Breithaupt founded SE Racing, way back in the mid-70s, pioneering many aspects of the world of BMX. It would be all but impossible to leave a bigger impression on the sport of BMX than Scot Breithaupt has.

Named after team rider Perry “PK” Kramer, the original PK Ripper was one of the first aluminum frame BMX bikes on the market, and so it’s fitting that this brand new 26” variant was manufactured with all new 6061 Floval aluminum tubing. It also features a looptail rear end, retro dropouts, and is finished in an eye-catching monochrome, tonal “Jags”motif. If you need it to have a deeper meaning than just looking great, consider that the contrasting black front half and white rear half serves as a metaphor for social and philosophical issues.”

Only 300 bikes were produced. Each is individually numbered.

02/09 One Bicycles Australia team update

One Bicycles Press release

By Jim Beattie
On Sunday the 23rd of August 2009  One Bicycles Australia team member Justin (CheekyBoy) Beattie clean swept the Ten year boy class at the Blue Mountains Open in NSW.

Sunny skies, a home track advantage and a new One frame helped the dual state and national champion to a comfortable win against some stiff competition.

It was Justin's first outing since picking up a W4 in Adelaide last month and his first race on his new machine.  After 5 weeks on his new frame he is going faster and smoother than ever. He is hard at work training for the upcoming NSW state titles in Maitland.  A win at Maitland would be his third state title win in three years. Before that is the Three track Classic on the NSW central coast and than the Orange Blossom open at Castle Hill.

How to buy One Bicycles products in Australia
If you would like to purchase a One Bicycles frame or accessories in Australia the best way to do so is to head down to your local bike store and place an order. If they don't know what you are talking about tell them to call Elite Cycle Imports while you wait and place your order there and then. After doing some calculations myself I have found the cheapest way to get One Bicycles products in Australia is through a local reseller.

02/09 The Enterprises Worldwide Presents… MEGARAMPAGE in Melbourne

MEGARAMPAGE press release
Over 9 storeys high, as long as a football field, & the biggest action sport structure in the world today.
The Megaramp….
Revered by every skater and bmx rider in the world.
And it’s coming to Melbourne.

THE BIGGEST AND THE FIRST ACTION SPORTS  & MUSIC
SPECTACULAR IN AUSTRALIA
OCTOBER 31, 2009 @ ETIHAD STADIUM, MELBOURNE

After months of whispers and rumours, it’s now official. The Megaramp is coming to Australia!

On the 31st of October, exclusive to Melbourne comes the MASSIVE inaugural extreme sports spectacular, Megarampage, which will welcome the largest ramp the southern hemisphere has ever seen and some of the world’s best skaters and BMX riders – the gladiators of the 2000’s.

As if that wasn’t enough, playing live are THE OFFSPriNG, GOOD CHARLOTTE, THE WU TANG CLAN and KELLEY JAMES who will be making their way from the US of A to bring in this colossal event alongside Australia’s COG, MAMMAL and SHAMAN SON.

Etihad Stadium will barely be able to contain the absolute magnitude that is Megaramp, which takes four labour-intensive days to build; the treacherous ramp is over nine storeys high, nearly reaching the top of the stadium, and covers over 12 acres of ground.
The riders attempt ‘Big Air’ where they go for amplitudes of over 20 to 30 feet in the air, over and above the height of the ramp. We are not talking about some dinky vert ramp – you do not want to fall from this monster!

There are only 14 guys in the world who can skate the beast known as the Megaramp, and they will all be in Melbourne for Megarampage.
World-famous pro-skaters confirmed for MEGARAMPAGE, in the insane pursuit of first prize include this year’s winner of the first-ever Big Air Rail Jam at X Games in LA, America’s Danny Way and second place winner, Brazil’s Bob Burnquist. Braving the terrifying Megaramp again is Australia’s true ironman, Jake Brown, who walked away from a 15m fall in 2007 and continues to conquer the mighty

Also confirmed are Buster Halterman, Rob Lorifice, Andy Macdonald, Adam Taylor and Alex Perelson from the States, Lincoln Ueda and Vovo from Brazil and rumoured appearances from Ryan Sheckler (USA) and Jake Duncombe (AUS). Judging the event are American skate legends Christian Hosoi, Chris Miller, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain and Rune Glifberg. HUGE!

As for the BMX riders, confirmed are American champs Morgan Wade, Kevin Robinson, Anthony Napolitan, Allan Cooke, Dave Mirra and Chad Kagy, and reppin’ Australia is Steve McCann, with judges to be decided in conjunction with Mat Hoffman.

Watch the pros in action WHILE LISTENING TO MUSIC HEAVYWEIGHTS FROM THE US AND AUSTRALIA this October the 31st at MEGARAMPAGE, at Etihad Stadium (nee Telstra Dome). Don’t miss out!

01/09 Tachyon™ Introduces the 2010 Tachyon XC - The world’s toughest helmet camera gets tougher

Tachyon™, Inc press release
DALLAS
(August 4, 2009) – Tachyon™, Inc., the premier innovator of durable, extreme helmet cameras, has announced the launch of its latest digital, mountable camera, the 2010 Tachyon XC Helmet Camera. The 2010 XC features a patented shockproof design, wide field of view, superior light-gathering ability, a remote control, and the longest battery-powered recording time of any helmet camera on the market, up to 12 hours.

The 2010 XC can also be integrated into the world’s first affordable digital 3D video and still camera system.

Designed for filming action in extreme conditions, the 2010 XC is easy-to-use and comes with multiple mounting systems that can connect the camera to goggles, helmets, sporting equipment, dashboards and more, accommodating all adventure enthusiasts. With loss of video due to battery connection being the No. 1 helmet camera complaint, Tachyon developed and patented a shockproof battery system to keep the camera’s batteries locked and secure, so video can survive the shocks of the most adverse situations. Camera users can have peace-of-mind as they capture demanding and often once-in-a-lifetime extreme situations.

The 2010 XC boasts a high-dynamic image sensor and a 90 degree wide angle lens, matching the sweet spot of human vision, allowing users to capture clear, undistorted video in low-light situations or underwater. The 2010 XC is also the only helmet camera on the market that can accept the entire range of SDHC cards, from 4 to 32GB, allowing for an extended battery-powered recording time of up to 12 hours.

The camera’s indoor light sensitivity, combined with Tachyon’s Green Power Pack (a rechargeable battery cartridge with wall socket and car light adaptors), gives the 2010 XC an additional function as a surveillance camera, nanny cam, scouting/hunting camera, or on-board accident camera.  Running in time-lapse photo mode, the XC can record up to 10 full days on a 32GB SDHC card.

“Tachyon is committed to providing the highest quality, affordable helmet camera on the market,” said Ty Clark, marketing director for Tachyon, Inc. “The 2010 Tachyon XC was born out of our desire to refine and extend our camera’s features, fulfill customer requests, and to remain the leader in the helmet camera industry.”

Tachyon is also taking affordable digital cameras into a new dimension with the Tachyon XC 3D system. Tachyon’s 3D system includes two XC cameras, a 3D mount, 3D glasses and Tachyon’s proprietary 3D Movie Maker software (for Mac or Windows) that integrates the right and the left video files into a single 3D video that can be uploaded onto popular video sharing sites. 3D video clips are compatible with and may be further combined and edited in common video editing software.

“We’re constantly looking to stretch technological boundaries and bring the impossible to consumers at an affordable price,” said Chris Whitehouse, creative director for Tachyon, Inc. “3D is exploding right now, with talented directors such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, James Cameron and Peter Jackson pushing the medium.  We figured why shouldn’t everyone be able to shoot in 3D and create their own amazing videos? After all, the world is 3D.”

The 2010 Tachyon XC can be purchased for $US179.99. The Tachyon XC 3D System, consisting of two complete XC packages, plus a 3D mount, 3D glasses, and Tachyon’s 3D Movie Maker software, will be available for $US379.99.  To ensure the earliest delivery, Tachyon is now accepting orders for the 2010 Tachyon XC and the Tachyon XC 3D system at www.tachyoninc.com/XC2010.html. Cameras will be shipped no later than Sept. 16, 2009.
