30/11 Double A Marketing @ ABA Grand Nationals Tulsa, Oklahoma

Double A Marketing press release
Randy Stumpfhauser wins the ABA #1 Pro Title
Danny Caluag wins the ABA #1 Pro Cruiser Title

The 2009 ABA Grand Nationals will go down in history as one of the best ABA events ever and the Pro Title race was one of the best as well. With 3 Pros going into the Grands with a mathematical chance at the title, the drama would unveil over the course of the Thanksgiving weekend in Tulsa. Race Action would kick off for the Pros on Friday, as they would duke it out for last chance points during the ABA Pro Spectacular. To start the weekend off on a high note, Randy Stumpfhauser won the ABA Golden Crank Award for the Pro of the year title, voted on by the members of the ABA.
Randy came into the weekend sitting just 7 points behind the top spot, held by Maris Stromburgs. Randy would need to make the main event and finish 2nd overall to gain some points towards the title. Things didn’t work out for Randy, as he missed out on the main event. Kyle Bennett, who sat 3rd overall in the title chase wound up taking the win and putting the pressure on Randy and Maris. This lead for the title chase was tight among the top 3 pros going into the Grands and all 3 riders looked strong and made their way into the stacked AA Pro Main event on Sunday afternoon. To add to the drama, all 3 riders were right next to each other on the gate in the main events.
As the Gate fell in round 1, it was Maris in 2nd for most of the lap, with Randy and Kyle just behind. Maris would go onto make a late pass to take the win, with Kyle finishing 4th and Randy in 5th.
Round 2 would change things drastically, as Kyle would take the win, Randy placing 2nd and Maris stuck back in 7th place.
Round 3 would decide the year-end title. If Randy beat Maris and finished no more than 2 spots behind Kyle, then he would get the title. Once again Kyle took the lead, but Randy was stalking him down the entire race. Maris was just behind in 3rd. As the lap came to an end, the three riders up for the title would finish in that order, giving the fans a great show. When the points were tallied up, it was Kyle with the win for the day and Randy the biggest 2nd of his Pro Career, as it was enough points to take the overall ABA #1 Pro title. This was Randy’s first ABA AA #1 Pro title. Randy has won the ABA #1 Pro Cruiser title 5 times in the past.
Randy’s sponsors include GHP, Troy Lee Designs, SINZ Racing, GO211.com, Rhythm, Tioga, THE, and BMXpros.com

Danny Caluag was looking to make it 3 in a row, as he once again was going after the ABA Pro Cruiser title. Things started off great for Danny, as he won the Friday Pro Cruiser event, helping him expand his overall lead for the title. On Sunday, Danny lined up for the Pro Cruiser main event, knowing that a top 3 finish would give him his 3rd ABA #1 Pro Cruiser title. Danny did just that, finishing 3rd for the day and securing his 3rd ABA Pro Cruiser title.
Danny’s sponsors include Intense BMX, Bawls Guarana, THE Products, SINZ Racing, GO211.com, Shimano, FLY Racing, Skull Candy, and BMXpros.com

About BSX
BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider's skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are very intense under race conditions but also fun for competitors and create quite a lot of entertainment for spectators. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the Track Attack series. The events primary function is to raise money for the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation. In just four years the event has raised approximately $15,000 which has provided the hospital with new equipment. Funds have been raised through gate takings, raffles, auctions and donations.

Since then she has become part of the “m8s4life” campaign developed to make teenagers more aware of the dangers of stormwater drains. The focus of the campaign is to keep your mates for life and don't let them do anything life threatening. The message points our that there are lots of risk-taking sports our there to replace the danger of playing around stormwater drains. This year the campaign has two extreme sports people, Cherie Simpson (BMX) and Jason Hazle (bodyboard).

The campaign runs until March and involves advertisements with Cherie on her DK bicycle displayed on lots of the council bus shelters. The athletes will also feature on 50 000 mail outs. After the launch yesterday Cherie Simpson was excited, “I never thought I would be posted up all over the city! It’s great.”

The website www.m8s4life.com.au has prizes on offer, video clips, mp3 clips, photos, fun thrill seeking games, education resources and information on the m8s4life campaign. There is also facebook and twitter.

06/11 The Morphine Industries Crew Hits the ABA Disney Cup

Morphine Industries press release
The new and improved Morphine Industries Factory Team rolled into Kissimmee last weekend for an assault on the ABA Disney Cup.  The Cup brought our newest team members, Olijuwon Davis, Damian Cherepko and Tim Dinger to the Sunshine State to strut their stuff in the Pink, Black and White.

Weekend started off with practice on Friday then followed by three days of racing.  The track was set up pretty much the same as last year with big bowl turns and compact short straights.  The track was going to prove to be a lane 3 & 4 kind of track.

VET PRO Tim Dinger showed up to the race with a last minute bike due to a five-finger discount transaction by a person with less than stellar moral values.
Dinger started Friday with an O-T-B crash in the XXXX to miss the main.   Saturday was hard fought in true Dinger fashion.  Sportin’ a helmet cam for a few motos, Dinger led the field.  Don’t believe the go211.com cam clip.  He won 2 of 3 laps wearing cam, but showing a cam clip in first is boring.   He ended up finishing the day just outside of the main.  Sunday was a well fought day.  With a top spot in the sights, He caught a tuff block coming thru the second turn which gave a 6th for the day.

A PRO Jason LaRev was in command of the class with fellow A PRO Gavin Lubbe chillin in Cali getting ready for ABA Grands.  Jason was ready to take some name for the weekend but was brought up short due to a crash in the motos on Friday.  Recovering from a previous shoulder injury, the addition of a compressed back sidelined him for the remainder of the racing.

31-35CR Doran Bradshaw banged bars with his fellow riders all weekend. Friday Doran finished with a respectable 2nd in the main.  Saturday was a good day of racing with a lot of bumping going on.  In the main, Doran tangled with another rider in the third turn and turtled him over the turn into the side wall.  Rider layed upside-down with his feet in air still clipped in.  It took four people to get him out.  It was all good racing as the y fought for the lead.  Doran had to settle for a 6th.  Sunday was another good day of bumping and grinding with Doran settling for another 6th in the main.

19-27X Olijuwon Davis hit the track on fire Friday.  Trying to get his motor rev’d up on the tight short straights, he settled for an unfamiliar 5th in the main.  Saturday, unfortunately was not a good day.  O.D. was killin’ it in motos until he touched his back tire rocketing down the first straight.  This sent him flying over his bars about 25 ft into the first straight.  Popping back up like a champ only to find later that he broke his wrist and will be out for an undetermined period.

15X Damian Cherepko, a new member to the Morphine Crew, showed up to make a statement and did just that.  He raced class and Junior Development all three days.  Friday started with a 2nd in JR Dev and a 1st in class.  Saturday, Damian returned to due the same but when you are battling for the top spot is does not come easy.  Hitting the dirt caused him to miss main in JR Dev. And take an 8th in Class.  Sunday was a mix of Friday and Saturday.  Damian took the top spot with #1 in JR Dev. and then got hit from behind in the first turn causing him to check up and settle for a 5th in the main..

12X Noah Reeves hit the track in his usual smooth style.  Ripping through the motos, quarters, and semis with unos and deuces.  Friday’s main ended with hard fought 3rd and Sauturday brought a 7th main as he got hit with lane 8 and ran out of track in the first turn.  Sunday was a chill day unfortunately due to a registration problem.

10X Richie “Air Dog” Dey dazzled the crowd with his high flyin’ anticts on the second straight.  Unfortunately, Richie narrowly missed mains all three days which is something that he his style.   Watch out next race, he will be gunning to make that up.

The Morphine crew will be headed to Oklahoma next for the ABA Grands.  Be sure to come check us out.

05/11 Victorian State Championships in 3 weeks

by bmxultra.com
Entries have closed for the Victorian State Championships which will be held at the Eastfield BMX Track in Melbourne's outer Eastern Suburbs on November 27-29. There are 1034 entries and 779 riders signed up for the title event. Since the Victorian State Championships were declared open to all riders in 2005 the growth rate has been quite impressive. 2004 was the last closed state championships, held at Sunbury, there were 340 entries and 263 riders.

The question of whether it's necessary to open the State Championships is a widely argued one and certainly each side has their valid points. It is said it's the largest number of entries for any State Championships in the whole of Australia for 2009. At what point though would Victoria decide that they have enough riders to support their own titles? And what effect is an open State Championships having on the growth of the sport within the state?

Any way you look at it there is going to be some great racing. Don't forget the racing format has changed, if you plan to get down to watch the finals there will be finals on both days, check our race calendar and download the entry form for details.
