31/05 One Bicycles Australia at the NSW Southern Region Double Header

One Bicycles Australia press release - by Miekel Rose
Last weekend saw the NSW Southern Region double header held at the Canberra track on Saturday and the Tuggeranong track on Sunday. This is a great event for us as it means we can stay home and don’t have to travel to Sydney to compete. Prior to the weekend we saw rain do damage to both tracks. Both Clubs rallied and got both tracks ready for the weekend.

Mikayla rode in the 10 Girls 20” class and managed to clean sweep both days on her local tracks, winning all her heats and finals comfortably. Mikayla has been riding well lately and is still on a high after the Australian Championships. That now puts Mikayla well in front on the Series points with only one round remaining at Sydney Olympic Park in July to go. On her cruiser she raced in the 8 to 10 Boys Class. She was riding with a sore groin on Saturday and this saw her sitting in seconds and thirds and only managing a sixth in the final. That night we gave her leg a rub and a hot bath and did some stretching and by Sunday she was feeling better. She managed some good heats at her home track and rode well in the final for a third spot. That puts her in third on the cruiser in the Series points so far.

Nikalus rode in the 12 Boys 20” class against his mate Andy Hughes. His Team mate and buddy Justin Beattie was out after fracturing his elbow at his home track. Nik was riding well with firsts and seconds to Andy on both days and managed second in his finals on both days. Nik was riding well and really enjoying himself. In the 11 to 12 Boys cruiser Nik was on fire, with similar finishes as on his 20” bike. In the final on Saturday he chose gate 2 and the rider in gate one flinched causing Nik to react which saw him over the bars and over the gate. Once he dusted himself off he rode through for a last place finish. On Sunday he did not want a repeat of the previous day and rode well in the finals and chose gate 1 for his final. He and Andy (who chose gate 8) had a close drag race down the first straight with Andy getting the holeshot by a wheel. The two boys were off and left the field behind with Andy winning with Nik in a close second. That puts Nik in second place overall in the Series on both bikes.

Josh seemed to have lifted his game on the weekend and feeling comfortable on his home tracks saw him sitting in thirds and fourths in 15 Boys 20” class at Melba on Saturday. He made the final and was sitting behind Aidan Vahtrik in the first corner when they hit wheels with josh coming down and hitting Matt Sweeney taking him out too. Josh got up and rode through for a last place but was stoked to make the final. On Sunday he rode well and was sitting on equal points with Brett Parkinson and a run off was to decide the fate of one of them through to the final. Josh was beaten to the line but rode very well and was happy enough for the weekend on 20”. In 15 to 16 Boys cruiser Josh only needed thirds to put himself in front in the overall Series Points. Josh rode well and consolidated his third place on both days in the heats and finals. Josh was rapped that he held the spot he needed to go in to the last round in front.

This was the last serious ride for the kids for a month or so and they are looking forward to a small rest before they get back in to race mode to finish up the series at Olympic Park. The kids have been riding well and really enjoying their time on their ONE bikes.

27/05 Team bmxultra.com at the Australian Championships

bmxultra.com press release
A bunch of the bmxultra.com team members headed out to the amazing Tom Ritz built racing facility at Shepparton, Victoria for the Australian Championships earlier this month. The track was demanding, with a long first straight and a whole lot of rhythm to the finish line for the Ams and two pro straights for the elite riders. The weather was kind for the outdoor event.

Brandan Bullows (Vic) was in the Junior Elite class for the first time. After having a quiet year on the bike he made light work of the big pro section, where he lacked in strength on the track he made up in skill. Although he didn't progress Brandan did a great job in a tough class.

Jamie Bullows (Vic) raced in the 35-39 20" class and Elite Masters cruiser. He had an off weekend at Shepparton struggling for consistancy, but being the true champion he is he cheered on his team mates.

Shane Jenkins (Vic) spend the five weeks leading up to the nationals resting up a back injury despite this he pulled a fourth in the 30 & Over Challenge Men 20". In the 40-44 Cruiser Jenkins started the day off with bike problems in the first moto, then a heavy fall in the second, battered and bruised he hit the track for the third moto and managed to qualify to the quarters which was as far as his race would go.

Scooby Guyers (SA) only managed to get to the quarters in the 19-24 men, to make up for that he came out with a great ride for a spot in the 19-24 Cruiser, Scooby got caught up in a pile up in the second straight, but managed to get back up again, only to come down again in the third straight. He managed to pull it all together again though and finished up with a respectable sixth place.

Chase Collins (Vic) was also resting up a back injury leading up to the championships but still managed to make it to the Semi Finals 19-24 Men where his run came to an end.

Levi Collins (Vic) started off the nationals with a third place in the 25-29 Men's class. Levi knew if he could put in a good lap that he was good enough to win, so that's exactly what he did in the 25-29 Cruiser and took the #1. An outstanding effort from Levi.

Adam Carey (NSW) has made big improvements in his skills and racing and in particular his confidence since racing in the Elite Mens class at the World Championships last year. With a tough moto in a tough field Adam didn't make it through but showed signs that he's on the verge of a break through, keep an eye out on this guy.

The bmxultra.com team is proudly supported by One Bicycles, Supercross BMX, Dirt Designs, Tioga, Elite Cycle Imports, THE, Profile, Sun Ringle, and Tektro Brakes.

21/05 Morphine Industries heats it up at the ABA's Wiregrass Nationals

Morphine Industries press release
There are two things you can count on when you go to Dothan, Alabama....an awesome track and hot temperatures. Both proved to be accurate once again as a the Morphine Industries crew rolled into town. Well, not the whole crew...it was up to 2 guys to represent at this one since the Florida State Championships were held just a few hours away in Morphines own backyard. Alot of internet genius' have been trying to get down the the fact that there were only 92 motos at this race but they way we see it, is that there were almost 300 motos of BMX racing in the southeast last weekend! Not to bad if you ask us! Now, on to racing...

Jason LaRev, fresh off the plane from Denmark, decided to come to Dothan and display his skills. Jason put in some killer laps but he kept gettin' the squeeze in the mains and had to settle for 4th and 5th place. On a brighter note, JRev got shanked in Wendy's on the way home and provided everyone with a good laugh! If you think the tattoos on his arm are cute, you should see the one on his rear!

Doran Bradshaw was this weekends poster boy for bmxnow.com and showed why by leading every lap in 36-40 cruiser from start to finish, putting two wins in the bag and getting a boost in NAG points.

Highlight of the weekend was the HRP/TwentyH cookout on Saturday after the race. Big Props to Stewart Harrison and all the other guys that made it happen. It was nice just hanging out with everyone, swapping stories and eating good food. The cookout and the legendary cross over first straight make this a must hit national next season.

Next few stops on the Morphine Industries summer tour are Lexington, Charlotte, Rockford and Nashville.

Morphine Industries would like to thank its Factory Team Sponsors; HARO BIKES (www.harobikes.com), Fly Racing (www.flyracingbmx.com), Alienation (www.alienationbmx.com), Sinz Racing (www.sinz-racing.com), Rennen (www.rennendesigngroup.com), Black Crown (blackcrownbmx.com), Tioga (www.tiogausa.com/bmx)

21/05 HRPdesigns Factory Racing Team Report – ABA Wiregrass Nationals, Dothan, Alabama.

HRPdesigns press release
This track holds a special spot in the heart of the HRPdesigns owner and TM.  It is the track he helped build when he was 14 years old and spent most of his life racing on that beautiful red clay.

Now to the race, HRPdesigns rolled in late Wednesday night to help out the locals on Thursday for the Pre-race practice and even put up a few banners with Bill Morris of the ABA for good measure.  The track was in perfect shape, butter smooth, and super fast.  However, it was hot on Thursday and Friday, lots of sun and highs in the 92 degree range, but the real heat was on the track.  As the riders started rolling in, you could tell this was going to be a fun weekend, lots of smiles from riders as they crossed the finish line and headed back to the gate for another lap.

Injuries - Coming into this race HRPdesigns was a rider down when Garrett Shaw broke his arm in training just a couple of weeks back, he would not be the only rider we were down by weekends end.  In Friday practice William Hill took a nasty fall and ended leaving the track on the backboard in a neck collar.  He checked out just fine in the end, with his first concussion (welcome to the club), but no other major damage.  Also, Chris Kennedy, who has been getting over a back issue, pulls his calf in Friday practice.  And finally, another one of our new riders, Trevor Harrison, was riding with his Dad back home after the Sunday race when he took a digger and ended up cracking his arm above the wrist.  HRP wishes a speedy recovery to all four of its riders.

The Cookout – Since this is essentially HRPdesigns home track, we have always tried to host a cookout on Saturday afternoon for anyone who wants to come and enjoy our brand of southern hospitality, this was probably the fourth cookout (almost annual) with the last one held in Dothan in 2008.  Most of the Black Crown team (keep your friends close and your competition closer, LOL) was there, Mike Carruth and his family, Dan, John, and Jim Reilly from the ABA, and many other were spotted enjoying the grub.  In the end, we served approximately 50+ people some tasty burgers, hotdogs, marinated shrimp, and sausage and chicken gumbo.  Seemed that everyone had a good time eating and talking BMX.  HRPdesigns would like to send a big thank you to Marcus Hill, Patrick Hancock, and our magnificent chef, Wayne Livaudais.

The Results – if the math stays the same as called out at the track, the HRPdesigns squad ended up the weekend with two 4th place finishes.  It was nice to be in the money two days in a row.  The team riders did well and some did their personal best since joining the team.

Luke Segal (28-35X) – had the best results, in a mad dash on Friday, he built his brand new Clayborn Pro XXL together for the first time in the parking lot, and promptly went out and WON both days, not bad.

Ryan Livaudais (21-25 Cruiser, 19-27X) – On Cruiser Saturday, Ryan got a great start but left the door open in turn 1 and had to settle for 3rd, but Sunday Ryan rode to a strong 1st place on cruiser.   On his 20” Ryan made both mains this weekend, in the dreaded 19-27X class, taking 7th both days.

Brandon Murphy (17-18X) – well it did not take him long to get over his retirement blues, after six months out of BMX and one national weekend under his belt, Brandon showed up Saturday morning ready to rock.  Which is exactly what he did, winning the main and returning to his old form on the top step of the podium.  Sunday was not quite as kind, but he still pulled a strong 2nd place podium spot.

Kendra Stoddard (14 girl / Jr. Devo) – She worked hard this weekend running class and Devo, at a smaller moto count race that is tough for the girls because of the moto spacing.  Kendra kept it together for strong 2nd places finishes both days in Junior Development and two 3rd place finishes in 14 girls.  Four classes, four mains weekend, Congrats Girl!

Trevor Harrison (9X & cruiser) – Had his best weekend since joining the team making all 4 mains he chased, highlighted by a podium 3rd place in cruiser on Sunday.  Two 4th places, one on each bike, and a 6th round out his racing, but wouldn’t you know it, he goes back home and breaks his arm Sunday night.  Talk about bad luck.  Heal up quick little man, we were proud to have you running the Black and Whites of HRPdesigns this past weekend.

Taylor White (41+X) – Although Taylor would tell you different, he rode well and had two main finishes to show for it, pulling the 5th on day 1 and standing on the podium for the 3rd spot on day 2.

Chris Kennedy (36-40X) – Chris was battling with his calf pull and only raced 20” this weekend, you could see he was in pain but did manage to pull a 4th in Saturday’s main.

Stuart Harrison (36-40cr) – Stuart does not race often anymore, but decided to give it a go at least one day on his favorite track in the world, and through the grace of god and an unfortunate handlebar locking with a fellow rider at the line, did in fact make the main on Sunday, cruising home with a 4th place finish.

Honorable Mention to Troy Rouzer’s 3rd place on Saturday.  With all the talk on the message boards about “what makes a national”, well any race that we get to hang out with Troy fits that description.  That dude is the salt of the earth.

HRPdesigns Factory Racing would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, Clayborn Bicycles (www.claybornbmx.com), Fly Racing (www.flyracing.com) , Snap BMX Products (www.snapbmxproducts.com), Sun Ringle (www.sun-ringle.com), Kovachi Wheels (www.kovachiwheels.com), Fred’z handlebars and Cyclecraft Bicycles (www.cyclecraftbmx.com), and Cane Creek (www.canecreek.com).

21/05 Morphine Industries' Wraps up Florida State Series with a few Unos

Morphine Industries press release
Florida State Championship, what else needs to be said.  It is no doubt the premier state series with top national caliber riders as proven year after year at the President's Cup.  The race pulled just under 180 motos and did not disappoint in the excitement category.  We had the added bonus this year of GO211.com bringing the racing to the world.  Hopefully you had a chance to watch.

Morphine Industries showed up to the Championships with 3 riders in tow to do some damage on the Podium.

17/18X - Talbott Cross spent most of the season recouping from a wrist injury tore up the track with a great effort narrowly missing the main.  He rounded the season up with an overall 11th place spot in a hotly contested class.

13X - Noah Reeves went into the final race battling for the top spot and a repeat on the #1 plate.  He held nothing back as he took the top spot on the podium at the race.  However, he ended up short just out of the top spot points wise to retain the #1 plate.

11x - Richie Dey went into the state race at the top of  both the 11X class and the 11-12 Cruiser class.  In 11x, there was no stopping the air dog. Richie tore up the class to take the Main win and clinch the #1 plate.

In cruiser, it came down to the main event with a battle between Richie and Tucker Rice.  Richie gave it all he had and took second in the main.  He was narrowly knocked out the top plate taking the #2 plate.

Morphine Industries had a great Florida State Series and want to thank its Florida factory team riders, factory team sponsors and the SSA for another great series.

With the Florida State series in the books, the Morphine Industries crew will turn its attention to the National series in both NBL and ABA.  In the next few weeks will be heading up north and west to bring our circus elsewhere.  Next stops are Lexington, SC, Rockford, IL and Nashville, TN.

You won't want to miss Nashville as it will be the return of AA PRO Mike Kapes wearing the Black, Pink and White.  See you there.

18/05 ONE Bicycles Team Australia Update - Australian Championships

One Bicycles Australia press release
Well done to the One Bicycles team for an outstanding effort at the Australian Championships. When Elite Cycle Imports set up a Grass Roots sponsorship program for the One Bicycles team there was no expectation that the riders would establish themselves at a national level so quickly. At the Australian Championships in Shepparton the team did an amazing job. With Kyle Horton taking third in the Junior Elite Men's class and Chris Van Winden taking seventh in the 30-34 Men, and the rest of the team, well, we'll let them tell you.

Justin Beattie wins the 11 year boy class at the 2010 Australian Championships held in Shepparton Vic. By Jim Beattie

Justin had a tough job ahead of him to back up last years Championship winning effort and was willing to leave very little to chance. His first look at the track was a couple of weeks earlier and it seemed to suit him down to the ground. He had spent a solid 5 weeks preparing for this event.

On race day the track had come up looking great and Shepparton had turned the weather dial to sunny.  Justin's efforts in the pre titles were hard to gauge as he had none of last years finalists to race, but he had learnt to jump most of the second straight from a race line.

On title day he rode through the motos winning all three without any hic-cups but his time in moto three was fairly slow. This saw him get third pick in the quarter finals. He won the quarters but was still a second off the pace. He drew lane 2 in the semi and had a short tussle down the first straight and was pushed to the fastest lap of the day so far by half a second. In the final Justin got a slow start but outpowered the rest of the pack by the time they had reached the first jump . From that point on he got out in front and stayed there. He jumped the second straight then pushed through the last two straights to take the win by 4 or 5 bike lengths.  He had pulled the fastest lap of the 11 boys in the final just when he needed it and managed to win his second National Title. This sees Justin currently ranked at 1 Vic, 1NSW, 1ACT, 1Aus and W4.

On the podium Justin was put on the spot by being given the opportunity to make a small speech. He thanked his Sponsors, Mum and Dad, his Grandparents and his mates the Rose Boys......He didn't thank his Coach.... As soon as the microphone was taken away he realised his mistake. So thanks to Adam Carey. To who so much of the considerable success that Justin has enjoyed over the past few years is owed. We hope you like your medal, Adam. Justin thought would be better than a "Worlds Best Coach" coffee mug.

Thanks also to the Rose tribe for their hospitality and support. Thanks to Grandma for not falling over during the final this year and thanks to ONE Bicycles.

Justin loves his ONE. He rates it above any of the long list of big name bikes he has raced before.

Justin's next big event is only 4 weeks away. He travels to Casino for the upcoming Mighty 11's event where he and the rest of the Australian team will take on the Kiwis.

Issy's Update: The Week of the Australian Championships By Issy Penglase – One Bicycles and Utopia Optics

Dad myself and my sister headed of to Shepparton on Friday on the way picking up some goodies from Utopia (thanks guys) we arrived and set up camp for the week to come.

Sat was rego and practise day for the Last Chance meeting also the 1st Victorian round of the Dynamite series.

Practice was great I love the track and it was really smooth and rolled fast- thanks to all those that worked on the track. Not only did it ride well it looked a million dollars with all the tents set up and grass and professional signage.

Sunday race day and Dynamite day- Moto’s went well and had good results in all motto’s, I was struggling a bit all day as I had developed a head cold and didn’t have a lot of energy. Finals grr I don’t think I have had a worse final ever I missed the gate the got caught out in the first turn and just couldn’t pass anyone add to that not my energy and I didn’t get the result I had hoped for. The plus side is I walked away with the lead in Dynamite series so need to extend that as the year goes on. Cruiser I was going to sit this out but seeing I haven’t ridden the cruiser in a long time I went out. A good decision as I finished 3rd in the final and a trophy for the cabinet.

Tuesday

Today was rego and official practise for the Aussies- A group of us from the caravan park decided to ride over to rego and back and have a look around Shepparton this was a blast and spent a hour at the Skate park.

Lunch time we heading to the track and transponders where fitted and out onto the track we went all went well but discovered my gearing on the cruiser was way wrong so dad changed it and it felt a lot better.

Friday is 20 inch day- we got to the track early and set ourselves up in our new Utopia tent. Practise went well but doesn’t Shepparton get cold early morning Brrr.

Dad and I looked over the motto draw and there wasn’t going to be a easier motto in my draw. I managed two 3rd and a 4th and managed to transfer into the semi.

Semi time with a loaded gate I knew I needed a good start to stay in the championships. The result was very upsetting, I banged bars and bounced of riders thru turn one as I finished 6th I was very upset for a while after that race but now look at it as I need more leg speed and more training for next year – Well done to all the girls that got Aussie plates.

Sunday is Cruiser day

We started early that day and dad was racing as well, he woke up with the cold that I had during the week but we got to the track early and set up and warmed up.

The races all went well with 3rd ‘s and 4th and a transfer to the semi.

Semi race, I missed the gate and had to get pass a few elbows in the first straight and managed to get up to 4th down the second straight, a girl went into the last pro straight and went under me and going over the line and took 4th from me as I went over the line I mentioned it to dad but he said that is racing as we went back to the tent to pack up and take the bike to the car people came running tell us we had to go to score shed.

I was in as they had disqualified the other rider, I felt sad that she didn’t get in but also very happy a relieved it was a strange feeling.

Final time, I had a good gate and stayed with 5A for the whole race and dropped of the back with a small mistake down the 3rd straight I finished 8th and a Australian plate, I didn’t mind to much on the result as last year I didn’t even transfer out of the cruiser class.

So now its back to training and getting ready for Vic v SA and the races at the end of the years.

Big thanks again to One Bicycles and ECI for all their support

And

Sandy and the Gang from Utopia there help has been over the top and much appreciated

And

Shane Jenkins for helping and keeping us grounded

The Rose Tribe at the 2010 NATIONAL Championships at Shepparton

This year’s National Championships were being held in Shepparton, Victoria. The kids and I had already travelled to Shepparton earlier in the year for the Vic Country Cup as a training run for the big event. The track looked groomed and fast and the Club had prepared a great event.

Mikayla

Mikayla was excited to race against her greatest rival Shelby Green, the reigning National Champion who she beat earlier in the year at the ACT Titles. Mikayla had trained hard in the lead up to the event and was hoping to better her 7A from the year before. This year we entered the kids in the Pre Titles to allow them some track time before the big one. Mikayla was happy with her bike setup and looked fast.

In the 10 girls 20” class Mikayla came out and won all her heats to progress to the semi finals. In her Semi she came out again to take a comfortable win. The final was going to be a cracker. Mikayla and Shelby came out fast with Shelby taking the holeshot at the end of the first straight. Mikayla pushed hard and chased Shelby all the way to the line, but Shelby was too big and too strong and took another Australian Title, with Mikayla in second with Ruby-Mae Hoad 0.001 seconds behind Mikayla for a super close third!

On cruiser Mikayla rode well again in the 8-10 Girls age class with wins in all her heats. Cruiser was a straight Final and Mikayla resumed her battle with Shelby and Ruby-Mae. The girls came out fast again with Shelby getting the holeshot again, Mikayla hot on her heels and Ruby-Mae on the inside line to the first corner. As they hit the first straight Shelby began to pull away with Ruby-Mae in to second and Mikayla chasing hard. The three girls were away and finished as they started, with Shelby doubling up with another National Title, Ruby-Mae in second with Mikayla taking third.

An outstanding effort for the baby of the bunch, with two podiums at the biggest event in Australia. Mikayla is looking forward to her next challenge which is the NSW and Victorian Titles later in the year!

Nikalus

After the disappointment of last year’s Aussies results, Nik wanted to redeem himself and set a goal to make the semis this year in the 12 Boy’s class, after not even qualifying for the World Titles last year! Nik rode well in his heats winning all three comfortably. In his third heat he managed to unclip in the second straight and remained that way until he crashed over the finish line in a comical race. The crash did little to help his cause of reaching the semis, with skin off his elbow, shoulder and hip. Nik was a little battered and bruised, but came out in the Quarters with a comfortable third to make it through to the semis. In his semi Nik found himself mid gate and came out a little slow finding himself spat out the back. For the remainder of the race he was looking for a way through the field, but in such good company that was always going to be an almost impossible task. Nik crossed the line in seventh after a decent chase! Nik was disappointed in his race and believed he could have ridden better. Nik has set himself a gaol to make the final in 2011 in Cairns and intends to train hard to achieve that goal.

In 12 and under Boy’s cruiser, Nik had Josh McLean in his heats and they raced well with Nik achieving seconds to him in all three heats. Nik had high hopes on cruiser to better his result in 20”. He was now in the Quarters and was feeling OK. In his quarter final he once again had a slow gate and got swamped and boxed out all the way down the first two straights leaving him to chase hard to try and make up the leaders. It was too late and Nik found himself crossing the finish line in fifth and missed out on his goal. Nik struggled with his gate on the weekend and found when riding with equally as talented kids, very difficult. Nik intends to go away and see why he continues to struggle in big finals and letting himself down. Nik was disappointed but intends to come back fighting and do a lot better next year. Nik is a big kid with a big future and with more training and more mental strength he will be a force to be reckoned with!

Joshua

Joshua is in a strong field of riders in the 15 Boys class. Josh has struggled with his training this year and knows he needs to work on his strength and conditioning and the application to racing if he intends on being more competitive in this field of riders. Josh looked uncomfortable in his heats and found himself finishing with an 8th, 6th and a 7th place which was not good enough to progress to the quarters. Josh was gutted, but knew he didn’t ride well and realised why training is so important!

In 15-16 Boys Cruiser, Josh appeared to have all 16 year olds in his heats and though he rode harder than his 20” bike he managed fifths in his heats and missed out on the quarters again! Josh is hoping that some more dedicated training and being in the senior class at next year’s event will yield better results for him. Josh is also doing some 4X events to help with bike skills and power in his search for more strength. I hope he manages to achieve his goals in 2011.

I would like to thank my beautiful wife Kaylene for being PIT CREW at the Aussies and helping the kids out at staging. I would also like to thank Wayne Hughes for his ongoing friendship and advice. Another thank you to Jim Beattie and his family for their support and friendship. A special thanks to BMX ULTRA Team rider Adam Carey who encouraged and supported the kids in staging, thanks big guy! A big thanks goes out to Shane Jenkins for believing in the kids and to the guys at ECI for their ongoing support of the Team. The ONE Team has achieved some great results this event and are hoping to better them in 2011!

14/04 DK Bicycles Dominate Australian BMX Titles

DK Australia press release
Team DK headed to the Australian Titles last week and dominated the event taking home 4 number 1 plates and also being voted TEAM of the year.

THURSDAY 6th - It all started on Thursday when in the PROBIXS rounds DK rider Cherie Simpson took out the overall win in ELITE WOMAN with a 1st place on the day giving her the overall for the series, not to be out done Matt Dunsworth also claimed the overall title in Junior Elite Men with a 2nd place on the day also giving him the overall series win.

FRIDAY 7th - The youngest member of the squad Mitch Hoad had a great day on Friday claiming the number 2 plate in 11 boys, Mitch had a fantastic day and after fighting of 60+ other riders he was happy with the 2 plate.

SATURDAY 8th - With most of the squad racing on Saturday there was bound to be some great results and Team DK didn't disappoint taking out some major titles,

Blake Moore in the 15 boys has been training so hard towards these Nationals, and the guy they call mighty mouse smashed thru his moto's and into the semi's, but a crash down the first straight ended any chances of that #1 plate, I'm sure Blake will come back stronger and faster next year I would even put money on it.

Ryan Van Vugt  claimed his consecutive #1 plate with a massive win to stamp his claim on the 16 boys class, once again Ryan proved his class winning every race he was in, all i can say the Junior Elite Boys better watch out next year when Ryan moves up a class.

Lacey Oliver pushed her way up to claim the number 3 spot in Junior Elite Woman, riding thru a bad wrist Lacey showed some guts to get that far,

Alex Ulyate in his first Nationals in Junior Elite Men couldn't of ended any better making the main and claiming the number 5 spot, watch out for this guy next nationals.

Matt Dunsworth has been riding well all year and for him not to walk away with the #1 plate would be a disappointment for the local Victorian, but true to his form Matt rode well all day and stood up on the poduim at the end of the day in that number 1 spot, with Matt now moving up in to Elite Men it is going to be tough but if anyone can do it i'm sure he will.

Cherie Simpson finally did it by claiming her 1st National Title in Elite Woman after putting in a stella performance in the final by over taking her rival into the last corner and crossing the finish line with her head held high, Cherie has been chasing that title for a few years so was great to see her on top of the podium with her novalty cheque.

Brock Murray in Elite Men was chasing that #1 title but a few mishaps in his quarter killed any possiblity of that, but if anyone can bounce back from that and chase it next year is Brock.

To top of the weekend Team DK / Loose Kid Industries / Rockstar Energy Drinks was also voted Team of the year at the BMX awards, so was a great way to finish of an amazing week for DK bicycles and it's team riders

14/05 Rennen/Intense team update

Rennen/Intense press release
Rennen/Intense has been hard at it over the past month and we thought we'd send out a report with some of those great highlights from the Eastern United States. Again in 2010 we appear to be the ONLY National/Factory level team that will complete the scores needed for BOTH the ABA and NBL team title series.

Apr 17/18 Howell, NJ: Team took a rare Regional national team victory. London Wilmot (36+ x), Max Egdorf (19-25x), Justin Knapper (13x), and Rochelle Wooding (14 girls) all picked up perfect national scores. Max also placed on the podium in the ultra intense Pro Am class to pocket a couple hundred dollars for his efforts. With semis in many expert older classes, 6 racks of Pro Am and a moto count nearing the century mark, this race proved there is plenty of life in the NBL's regional series. Well, at least in the Northeast there is...

Apr 17/18 Atlanta, GA: Team took a pair of seconds in a fierce factory team competition battle at the ABA Dixieland Nationals. Austin Loebe (17-18x) and Pat Parker (28-35x) each picked up a weekend double.

May 8/9 Woodbridge: Team took a first on day 1 and a second on day 2, and increased our NBL National Team point total by 18 and remain in control of the overall team title chase. Max Egdorf (19-25x), Cameron Moore(12x), Pat Parker (26-34x), and Justin Knapper (13x) all had perfect weekends...never losing a lap.

Next up for the team is a National Team competition at the NBL's jewel in Pottstown, PA, Trilogy Park. We will also be conducting a Friday afternoon Pre-national clinic at Pottstown.

Once again I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you ALL for your continued support!

14/05 G-Cog Payment Plan

Rennen Design Group press releaseRennen G-Cog
Rennen Design Group is pleased to announce that it has created an affordable monthly payment plan option for its BMX powermeter product, G-Cog.  We realize that the initial upfront cost of a G-Cog powermeter may be out of reach for many in these tough economic times.  We have aggressively sought out a solution and have partnered with PaySimple.com, a payment solution company based out of Colorado, to create a secure and reliable payment plan option.  Now customers can opt to make an initial down payment (fixed based on the G-Cog package level) and then split the remaining balance over the next 11 months.  Funds are automatically deducted from their bank account making the transaction hassle free for the customer.

The following are the monthly payments based on package level:

Basic ($37.18), Expert ($74.00), Coach ($110.82)

Allowing customers to have this payment plan option enables them to justify the purchase of the G-Cog BMX powermeter by making their purchase more like what a typical gym membership costs.  Considering how much individuals spend traveling to nationals this payment plan allows BMX'ers to know if they're ready instead of guessing and could potentially help them save thousands over the course of a year and truly maximize their performance.

In the coming months we have some really cool things we are doing behind the scenes that the BMX community will benifit from.  As always it is our number one priority to take care of our customers and answer any questions they may have regarding any Rennen Design Group product.  Check out www.RennenDesignGroup.com and www.G-Cog.com and let us know what you think.

11/05 UCI BMX Supercross Copenhagen finals

UCI press release
Strombergs & Le Corguille victorious in Copenhagen
UCI BMX Supercross World Cup presented by Swatch

Copenhagen Denmark, May 8 2010 - Maris Strombergs (LAT) won another UCI BMX Supercross World Cup. With this victory the current Olympic Champion also leads the 2010 World Cup standing after two events. Latitia le Corguille (FRA) was the best in the women's event. With this top performance the French rider wins her second World Cup in a row, an impressive performance by the 2008 Olympic silver medallist.

In a build up to the 2012 Olympic Games the UCI BMX Supercross World Cups are growing in importance and popularity. 161 elite riders from 29 countries started in Copenhagen on Europe's only permanent BMX Supercross track. The event kicked off with a qualifying individual time trial. The best 64 men and 32 women continued. The men continued to race in eight mottos and the women in four.

Maris Stromberg warned his competition with an impressive individual time trial result on Copenhagen's challenging BMX track in 35.298 seconds. Australian Sam Willoughby was just a few hundreds of a second short to beat his Latvian rival in 35.536 seconds. Those time trial results promised another great battle between the two favourites Strombergs and Willoughby.

But BMX racing is hard to predict and anything can happen in an explosive 30 seconds adrenaline pumped race. Strombergs confirmed his winning form with overall victory and the strong muscular Latvian won the final in style. But Liam Phillips (GBR) was the surprise runner up in the men's final as was third place finisher Corben Sharrah (USA). Australian Sam Willoughby and American Connor Fields did not make the podium as they did in the last two Supercross World Cups.

Shanaze Reade from Great Britain was one of the female favourites for the title in Copenhagen as was 2009 World Champion Sarah Walker (NZL). Walker looked strong and determined after being out for such a long time but Le Corguille outperformed all in Copenhagen. Aneta Hladakova (CZE) was third.

More than 3.000 spectators watched the spectacular racing in Copenhagen that is also home to the 2011 UCI BMX Supercross World Championships.

11/05 It's raining Gold at the Australian Titles for HRVfitness

HRVfitness press release
In the history of BMX there has never been a team like this; 3 X #1 Australian titles in 3 different classes.

Olivier Hoarau started the week off on Thursday with the final round of the National Champbikx/ Probikx series. The big guys was looking strong as he led the field in the semi final, but put the bike down through the technical pro section and ended up breaking his wrist, putting him out for the weekend.

The next rider to step up to the plate was 10 year old Jaden Rice. Rice looked good in qualifying but when it came to the final the little guy put the peddle to the metal and stormed home to take the win. But he wasn’t done there; he then came back on Sunday to take the win in the 8-10 boys cruiser. Two classes, two wins.. Not a bad day at the office for Jaden.

Brandon Te Hiko was in devastating form all weekend and showed no signs of slowing down in the final. Brandon smashed the field from start to finish and came away with his first Australian Title.

HRV took up the challenge in the 30+ Masters class, with plenty of competition from former world champions this was going to be an action packed final. The gate dropped and HRV was spat out the back but managed to find some space down the first straight and slotted into third out of the first turn. Then with some crazy cornering he set up a run into the third straight and managed to take the lead as he headed into the final stretch. HRV took out his first Australian Title in 10 years.

HRVfitness would like to thank all their supporters and sponsors.

Europe's best BMX Supercross track
Europe' best BMX track is located in Copenhagen. The BMX track in Copenhagen has just been upgraded with a number of new, permanent facilities. For example two start ramps, one of five and one of eight metres, respectively. According to the International Cycling Federation, UCI, this upgrading makes the track the best in Europe.

"There's no doubt that the Copenhagen BMX venue is the best BMX venue in Europe. With the investment of having two permanent start ramps, not only is it the most versatile BMX track, suited both for elite and youngsters, but it also showcases the future of BMX. This is what many tracks will look like 10 years from now!" says Johan Lindstrom, UCI BMX Sports Coordinator.

Sports Events Made in Denmark
The Copenhagen set up is impressive but the organisers also have the ambition to further develop the side-activities to the main event. Chief Executive Lars Lundov of Sport Event Denmark explains: "In Denmark we emphasize the re-use of experience gained at previous events to make future events even better. We call it 'Sport Events Made in Denmark.' "For example the local organisers offer fans a great variety of entertainment on the final day. The rock band KISS KISS KISS, a freestyle BMX-show, competitions for the audience, free 'try for yourself' for all kids and much more.

03/05 New Australian BMX Company!

by bmxultra.com
Speed Bike Co is Australia's newest BMX company which has been happening behind the scenes of Johnny Chopper since early 2009. Gary Winmill has been designing lightweight race parts that he couldn't make himself (CNC machined parts) since early '09, but it simply never came to life while JC was operating. Wanting to have an even more competitive Australian BMX company producing parts primarily for BMX racing has brought about the decision to manufacture parts offshore like a lot of other BMX companies. "Designing the parts myself and seeing them come to life via someone else's skills has been as rewarding as making parts myself" says Gary. The first parts you'll see out on the track will be Ti pedal spindles, Ti chainring bolts, Ti crank bolt kits, Aluminium Spiders and Aluminium Chainrings all designed in Australia. Future products may include some Aussie made items including forks and cranks. Speed Bike Co are very proud to announce that they have hooked up with Standard Bykes USA and Bullseye Cycle USA to form an unbeatable combination for our Factory Team with their awesome quality frames and parts. Look out for the Speed Bike Co team testing out our proto parts from May. Check 'em out at www.speedbikeco.com .

03/05 National BMX Championships head to Shepparton

by bikemedia
The 2010 BMX National Championships will be held in Shepparton between 5 - 9th May. It will be the first time the championships have been held in regional Victoria.

The event has attracted over 2700 race entries from all around Australia. Competitors will race on the new 370 metre track built by the Olympic track builder, Tom Ritzenthauler.

One of the Australia's best known riders, Luke Madill (Sydney), will be looking to claim a record four national titles. The 29 year old Olympian has been racing since he was 5, and this year will compete in his 25th consecutive nationals.

As a three time elite national champion, Madill is on par with fellow Olympian, Kamakazi and Anthony Way but a win on Saturday will see him make history.

Also planning on picking up an elite title will be Brian Kirkham (Adelaide). The 24 year old will only get two weeks of training after suffering a broken scapula and hand.

Billy Jolliffe (Newcastle) will also be out to reclaim the title while Western Australia's Brock Murray could make the podium. Another one to watch is Alex Cameron (Sydney) after a consistent season.

While world number one Sam Willoughby (Adelaide) and other members of the Australian High Performance team are competing in the second round of the BMX Supercross World Cup in Copenhagen on 7 - 8 May. Sam's older brother, Matthew Willoughby, will be on the start line after fully recovering from a broken ankle.

Eyes will be on two former junior champions riding up with elite, the world bronze medallist Anthony Dean(Adelaide) and last year's national champion, Michael Chasteauneuf (Melbourne).

The elite women's title is wide open with the absence of defending champion, Caroline Buchanan (Canberra). Also in Copenhagen are Lauren Reynolds (Bunbury), Rachel Bracken (Townsville) and Olympian, Nicole Callisto (Perth).

Eager to claim an elite title will be Cherie Simpson (Gold Coast) but 32 year old mother of two, Jaclyn Wilson - Thompson (Bendigo) will have other plans.

Another Victorian, Matthew Dunsworth, looks confident of taking out the junior men's title after dominating this season however Canberra's Ryan Henderson could throw down a challenge as may Darryn Goodwin from Western Australia. Also in his first year in the junior ranks, Graeme Mudd (Maitland) is in with a good chance.

Queenslanders, Melinda McLeod (Mackay) and Lacey Oliver (Gold Coast) will be aiming to secure a junior women's title. Perth's Kirsten Dellar could have other ideas after claiming the top spot last year. Also on the lookout will be Adelaide's Molly Nichols-Pavy.

Pre-titles racing is held on Wednesday with a lot of interest on Thursday in the final round of the National Series. On Friday the challenge classes get to compete before the elite classes return to the track on Saturday for their national championship. Racing finishes on Sunday with cruiser classes.
