I'm quite fond of Answer products, having used them for many years now. I have found their full range of products to be of the highest quality and very affordable whilst remaining leading edge. In the case of their race gear expect nothing different. Their garments are made to last with a great deal of emphasis on detail and style.
I have used various gloves over the years, but always seem to come back to Answer. The two most important things I look for in a glove is comfort and durability. One thing I noticed here when I first put them on was that the fingers and thumbs fit perfectly, you often find a glove that just doesn't feel right because the fingers are just the wrong lengths. For me a glove must be both comfortable and durable, because you don't want a comfortable glove that will fall apart and expose your hand, nor do you want a durable glove that's just plain uncomfortable to ride in.
A lot of race tracks these days are built with surfaces that will tear your bare hands apart if you fell the wrong way, it's no different to falling on the road. Will your bare hands hold up to it or your current gloves provide enough protection if you were to fall hands first? The Answer Edge gloves provide extra protection through the padded foam mesh top and rubber patching where you will need it most. They also have a strong, stitched palm that won't shred like paper on your first fall or bunch up while you are riding, a common complaint from gloves, especially as they age.
Terrycloth thumbs are a feature that the Edge offers that many other gloves in it's class don't. It sounds funny that you would need terrycloth, but it's perfect for wiping sweat on hot days or solid riding sessions. I didn't realise I used it so much until my last set didn't have it. Where a terrycloth thumb would normally wear away on your grip Answer have put a reinforcement over the top.
I have been using my Answer Edge gloves now for a solid few months, whenever I am on the bike, sprinting out the front of the house, riding in the backyard or down at the race track (we are talking 3-4 sessions per week). I have found that aside from being a little dirtier than when they started they are still comfortable and still in perfect condition, and the velcro wrist strap is also holding up very well.
