Review: Hyper Assault cruiser

In the BMX fraternity it seems that everyone wants something new, something a little different to everyone else, something with a little bling. I guess it's the nature of a BMXer. When the opportunity arose for us to review the Hyper Assault cruiser frame co-sponsored bmxultra.com rider, Jamie Bullows (30-34 class/cruiser), was the man for the job. It was just what he was looking for to replace his trusty FMF cruiser frame. His criteria was that the top tube must be 22 inches long. You would think that would be easy to find in a cruiser, but the bulk of them come in a 21-21.5. Hyper have a large range of frame sizes with 20" from Ultra mini to Pro XXL and 24" from mini to Pro XL. The Pro XL cruiser has a 22" top tube.

Love at first sight
When we asked Jamie what he thought initially this is what he had to say "My first impressions were that colour is awesome it really does shine in the sun and will definitely get noticed on the track. I was really impressed with the whole overall look of the frame from the paint to the stickers and just the general look of the construction."

How does it feel on the track?
Any bike can look good, but the important thing is how does it ride? This is what Jamie had to say about the general feel of the frame. "After building the bike up on the Saturday I took it for a quick ride in the backyard and hit up the doubles I have have in there and the general feel was good but needed a hit out at the track to see the true feel of the bike. The following day I hooked up with a good mate of mine who also just received his 07 GT and was keen to take a trip to the track so we headed out to the Bendigo BMX track for a play. On the track I felt at one with the bike, first lap hitting up everything like I had been riding it for ages. It felt awesome through the rhythm sections and it was well balanced over the big doubles. The frame also felt very stiff with little to no flex and you could feel the power straight to the back wheel with no loss through frame or bottom bracket flex. It's the best frame I have ever felt out of a gate."

Hyper Assault frames are available in white, black, red, blue, orange and polished.
