31/05 Portland BMX Club receives grant
Portland, Vic, Australia - The Portland BMX Club, in the far South West of Victoria, will be hosting the 2005 Victorian State Championships. We have just heard they have been successful in receiving a $50,000 grant which will be used to rebuild their track, club rooms and build a toilet block. There is a lot of time and hard work that goes into applying for such grants, it's not just the local club riders that will benefit but all riders who will use the track. Congratulations to the Portland BMX Club.

27/05 Female BMX Racers wanted for school project
My name is Maree Anstee and I am currently attending Wesley College- Glen Waverley and I am in year 12. One of the subjects that I am currently undertaking is Media Studies, and as part of the course we need to come up with a concept and create a video. For my video I will be doing Women in extreme sports, and I was wonder if any female BMX racers around Melbourne (Australia) who would be willing to be part of my video. It would entail showing what you can do on your bike and having an interview, at most all shooting would last half a day and shooting would have to be done at their local track from the 28th of June onwards. Upon completion of the video I would also give all participants a copy of the video. Anyone interested should email Maree.Anstee@wesleycollege.net.

26/05 Blake Schofield's Australian BMX forum
I have set up an Australia Wide BMX forum. Basically it has been set up so that anyone and everyone within the BMX community can go there and use it as a place to find information, communicate with other riders, and get the latest info on happenings in BMX around Australia. I want to make it as big as possible, a place where everyone can discuss certain issues.

So go check it out at ausbmx.forumer.com, sign up, and start posting. It's free!

25/05 One Bicycles news: European Championship round 5 and 6
It was Kampen in the Netherlands to be the host for round 5 and 6 of the European Championship for Junior and Elite Men and Women. The turns of the sandy track in Kampen had a concrete surface this time, the speed of the riders was much higher because of this and the jumps were harder to take since they all seemed shorter now.
Round 5
Everything went so well for all riders until the finals.
Jana Horakova was doing very well all day, improved her start but in the final bad luck was hers.
It seems every girls that crashes, crashes into Jana. Still a 6th place for Jana.
Maris Strombergs was having very good gates and his speed on the first straight was awesome.
He took the holeshot in the main and lead from start till finish.
Arturs Matisons got caught in the pack on the first straight in the quarters and wasn't able to make it into the main.
Round 6
The sun was shining and everyone had a new opportunity to get great results.
The girls were doing very well, jumping the big double on the first straight and getting ahead of the others.
The semis were there and again....someone crashed into Jana. It is so unbelievable.
Vilma Rimsaite and Dagmara Polakova made it into the main and and took a 6th and 3rd place.
Maris Strombergs took the holeshot again with Belgian and points leader Arnaud Dubois next to him. Jumping the double on the first straight, Strombergs had the inside but landed a little outside the track which made him loose balance and speed. He still managed to get back in the race and finished 4th.
Elite Men was great. Thomas Allier was going so fast all day on the first straight. Arturs Matisons
has had some holeshots in the past rounds but Allier managed to pass him. This time Matisons did
it again and now closed the way for Allier to pass him. Allier got close in the last turn trying to push Matisons to the outside. Matisons showed he is real competitor in his first year in Elite Men and won anyway.
Prokop got past Allier and took 2nd.

Ranking now after 6 rounds:
Jana Horakova 3rd, Elite Women
Dagmara Polakova 5th, ELite Women
Vilma Rimsaite 8th, Elite Women
Maris Strombergs 2nd, Junior Men
Arturs Matisons 4th, ELite Men
Joost Wichman 12th, Elite Men
Kelvin Batey 21st, Elite Men

Well done everyone

24/05 MCS News: Amanda Geving in TEEN People Magazine
Amanda GevingJust recently, in the June/July Issue of TEEN People Magazine, Amanda Geving was featured in the "What's Up" section of the magazine. Amanda who was also in TEEN's Parent magazine, People (last year), has been getting lots of coverage for our sport. It mentions the Olympics and how she hopes to be a part of it in 2008. She is a great ambassador for our sport. "We here at MCS Bicycles are extremely excited about the attention she has brought to our program and team. She is the future of the Girls Pro class." said Brian Fell MCS Team Manager/Promotions Director, "She makes being a team manager very easy for me, she is already acts like a professional, and she's only 15!"
Recently Amanda added another two Florida State Titles to her already impressive resume. No telling where the future will take Amanda, lets hope Beijing, China!

24/05 MCS Wins Year End Title
On May 15th, the Florida State Championships were held at Okeeheelee BMX Track in West Palm Beach, Florida. The race had 220 moto's with a little under 1200 riders in attendance. With 12 wins on the day and 8 Titles for the year, plus the Money Team Title, the MCS Factory Team was looking good out front of what seemed like every main. Aaron Cartwright, 9 Expert; Bryan Kipp, 10 Expert; Amanda Geving, 15 Girls and Raul Gomez, 30-34 Expert all pulled off Double wins for the day and the number one plate for the year in both class and cruiser.

Petey Peters had a lock down on 16 and over open, until part-time Florida resident Philip Delizia got his last straight pull on and came from 7th out of the first turn to 1st at the line. You should check it out on BMXVIDEO.NET!!

This years team battle came down to the wire with Hyper/Hot Wheels. It¹s really good to have such a competitive series and have as much fun as we all did. We would like to congratulate all of the teams that competed, Hyper/Hot Wheels, IC Bikes, One Bicycles, Red Hot Racing, Bike Barn and
Performance/Supercross.

Last, but certainly not least, we would like to thank our sponsors for which non of this would be possible. ANSWER Products, Profile Racing, Odyssey, UGP, Sun Rims, Diatech, ATI, Hammer Bodywear, ACS and Hot Shoppe. Thanks for another great State Season. We can't wait until next year!!

24/05 Bendigo results
Bendigo, in central Victoria, hosted round 4 of the Northern Rivers regional championships yesterday. The track was in great condition and the surface was very firm considering the rain as we head into winter. The Bendigo club have been busy making some small changes to their jumps including putting bigger lips on them than Mick Jagger. The changes were great, a pat on the back for the Bendigo club, but they did make the track feel real long. The wind and rain were on and off throughout the day, but not too much of a problem.
There were 28 riders in the Pro open class, so it was going to be a long road to the final with 4 qualifying motos, and semis. The usual suspects for the northern rivers, plus a couple of extra riders from Melbourne. In the motos Brock Tuckerman, Levi Collins, Robert Slatter and Jonathan Hoare dominated. Jamie Bullows, who you would normally see in the Bruiser Cruiser (Vet Pro Cruiser) ranks, looked very comfortable on his home track in the pro field. There was a run off for the semi BMXUltra.com's Shane Jenkins was up against youngster Mason Baldi. Despite Mason's efforts all the way to the line, it wasn't enough to beat the more experience Jenkins. There were no real surprises in the Semis, however Jenkins got a good start from lane 8 and was on the bubble in fourth, but it appeared that the run off was just too much, he ran out of juice half way around the track allowing David Page to slip into 4th, Jamie Bullows just missed out and finished 5th in the same semi.
The main was shaping up to be a good one for the off season event. Tuckerman, the local, was the crowd favourite, BMXUltra.com's Jonathan Hoare was hungry for a win, and Levi Collins was going to do all he can to take the big cheque. When the gate dropped Jonathan jumped to the early lead and pulled a length and a half on Collins, Slatter and Tuckerman who were fighting for second. Coming into the second main straight Collins had also pulled away from the bunch in one of his famous corner moves and pulled up next to Jonathan. The two went into the second last corner together, but there was only enough room for one of them to exit and Jonathan was on the outside, he went over the corner and Slater and Tuckerman collided trying to avoid the carnage, they went down, allowing the guys at the back of the field to slip through.

Pro results
1. Levi Collins (Sinister)
2. David Page (Norco)
3. Daniel Stocks
4. Trevor Stamford (BMXBits.com.au)
5. Adam Carey (Sinister)

21/05 Factory Avent / Bombshell Rules Nor Cal!
Northern California - ABA's newest Factory team, Avent / Bombshell, made the trek up the California coast to hit up the ABA's US Nationals just outside of Sacramento, California, the NORBA Mountain Bike national in Sonoma, and the NBL's Golden State National near Monterey. Factory Avent / Bombshell came into Nor Cal leading the ABA Factory points chase ahead of Factory Answer and reigning champs Redman / Yamaha Waverunner.

The big news from the Bomb Squad camp was the addition of Canadian National #1 Tory Nyhaug to its elite group of riders. Tory was decked out with his new Avent Morpheus Candy Red Expert XL and Candy Blue Expert Cruiser featuring Bombshell components and Fly 805 race gear. On the backs of stellar performances by "The Missile" Mike Moeller, Chad Kerley, Mike Lundy, Alise Post, TJ Johnson, Jacob Abbe, Lahsaan Kobza, Tory Nyhaug, Steve Stewart and Joey Bradford the team came home with a huge WIN on Sunday and a third on Saturday. Despite the win, they came out of Roseville in second place in team standings.

Moeller, sporting his new 661 "Attack" race shoes, rocked the house in Roseville, doing battle with Sergio Pena once again, and came out on top with a huge double on Sunday. TJ Johnson put on new Maxxis Holy Rollers and ruled the old guy 20" class and came away with two easy wins. Joey Bradford overcame a possible broken wrist to take the win in 14 Expert over Jeff Pease on Sunday. Theres a reason there's a big #1 on his Tangent plate. Chad Kerley proved that he is the "King of Open" with another huge double on his Candy Red Morpheus Junior. Alise "The Beast" Post pedaled her FSA Carbon Pro cranks and grabbed herself a win in cruiser on Sunday. Mike Lundy pulled in a 17-24 Open win on Saturday on his new Candy Blue Morpheus XXL.

The team's NBL effort, Avent / Fly / Joselyn's headed over to Prunedale, California for the NBL's Golden State National and pulled in outstanding results, winning the team comp on Sunday and turning in a perfect score on Saturday to tie for the win. Joey Bradford nabbed the Double Double in 14 Expert and 14 Cruiser on his ultra light Avent Jibster Mountain Bike. Jacob Abbe doubled in 7 Expert with teamate Brandon Crawford in tow both days. T.J. Johnson doubled in 22-29 Expert. Mike Moeller took the win in 16 Expert on Saturday with a hard-fought second in 16 over open and another second on Sunday. Alexis Warne Double Double'd in 10 Girls and Crusier. Josh Oie doubled in 15 Expert. Austin McCollum doubled in 8 Expert with teammate Stevie Carvajal, who was just back from injury, in with two seconds. Earle Phillips doubled in 40-44 Cruiser. Cody Wilson took a win on Sunday in 11 Expert. Other podiums included Alex McCloskey 16 expert, Blake Selsor 10 Expert and good rides by Matt and Sean Baisley. All in all the team pulled in 20 wins for the NBL weekend.

"dR" Donny Robinson tried his luck at the second stop of the NORBA Mountain Bike series in Sonoma, California without much luck. Donny was once again killing the top MTB pros in practice. After qualifying seventeenth and handling Wade Bootes with a first round win, "dR" went down in his quarter final heat after tangling with Bootes. The crash earned him a broken collarbone and a sideline stay for a few weeks.

Look for the entire Factory Avent / Bombshell team to be in full force (minus Donny) at the ABA Spring Nationals in Bakersfield, California.

21/05 One Bicycles news: One Week
What a great week of racing for the one camp!

Our N.E. US team went to Egg Harbor and turned in a great showing with many of our riders making the Main. The documented finishes are still in Amanda Perzia's luggage who was also in attendance. Maybe some day we'll see them. lol ;) On a side note Perzia jumped a plane to West Palm Beach in time for the Florida Championships where she took 4th in her Main! The N.E. Team did an awesome job of representing one and their sponsors in one of the 1st Nationals for their season. Way to go guys!

Our S.E. Team was minus Rookie A Pro Jason Bennett who flew out to the Golden State National in Prunedale CA to take 4th on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday! Oh yea! The rest of the team went to the Florida State Championships to take a Team 4th overall and some individual titles as well. Bentlage 3rd overall, Lucas 2nd overall, Ezell "the Gazelle" Johnson 1st overall! Many of the remainder of the team found themselves in top 8 positions overall. Way to go gang!

20/05 The BMXUltra.com Top 100 has been reset
Many of you would already know about the BMXUltra.com Top 100. For those that don't it was the first ever ranking page for BMX websites, it has been running for over 6 years and includes around 1200 registered sites. It's been a long time overdue, but it's time for us to refresh the Top 100. This would normally happen every 6 months, we have let it go a little bit too long this time.

What this means is all the counters have been set back to zero. Website managers shouldn't worry, all other details will remain the same, just the counters are reset. (You should have received an email with details about it by now.) So if you can't see your favourite site on the list, see if you can find a BMXUltra.com Top 100 link (usually on the front page of a website) and vote for them. Votes won't appear instantly, not until the page is reranked, which happens every hour or so.

Remember you can only vote for a site once in a 24 hour period, there is some code which stops people from voting over and over again for the same site.

We hope this will freshen up the list a little, removing links to old sites that no longer exist or participate in the Top 100 and allow the newer sites to make it into a top 100 position.

If you have a website and would like to participate in the Top 100 register your site now at http://www.bmxultra.com/cgi-bin/accounts.cgi

If you have any questions email us at webmaster@bmxultra.com.

To have a look at the Top 100 check out http://www.bmxultra.com/topsites/autorank.html, or you can vote for us from the link on our front page.

18/05 BMXpros.com Race Reports
NBL West Coast National, Norba National #2, & UCI Track World Cup Finials

Once again it was a huge Pro race weekend of all sorts as the BMXpros.com riders took to three big events. The first was for Randy Stumpfhauser, Cristian Becerine, Dale Holmes, Brandon Meadows, and Kyle Bennett at the NBL Pro Series event in Prunedale, CA for round 4 of the 2004 NBL race series. Next, it was Wade Bootes, who flew to the USA to race the gravity events of Dual Slalom, 4 Cross and the Jeep King of the Mountain race at the 2004 Norba National series event in Sonoma, CA. Finally, Jamie Staff was on the other side of the world, racing at the UCI Track World Cup Finials in Sydney Australia. In each place, the BMXpros.com riders took home a win and as always, impressed the fans. Here is how the guys finished up:

Randy Stumpfhauser took to the BMX track once again at the NBL National and as always was super consistent. On Saturday, Randy was in both the AA Pro Main and the Pro Cruiser main event where he placed 2nd in AA and won the Pro Curser main event. On Sunday, Stumpy finished 2nd in Pro Cruiser. Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Hyundai, Fox, AC, Smith, Cytosport, Sun Ringle, Shimano, OGIO, SDG, Thomson, ODI, Bombshell, S & M, Marwi, IRC, Powerbar, and BMXPros.com

Cristian's Sponsors include Crupi, O'Neal, UGP, Answer, ODI, Thomson, Sun Ringle, Marwi, Shimano, Cytosport, Powerbar, and BMXpros.com

Kyle's sponsors include Free Agent, Answer UGP, Vans, Sun Ringle, ATi, Velo, Profile, Powerbar, Cytosport

Wade Bootes wanted to start out the 2004 Norba series with a bang and in Sonoma, Ca he did just that. With a weekend full of racing for Wade including 4 Cross, Dual Slalom, and the Jeep King of the Mountain series all ahead, Wade knew he would be busy. On Friday, he did qualifying for the 4 cross and Wade had the course dialed, as he was the fastest Pro qualifier. As the race went on, it was apparent Wade was the fastest rider, as he won all of his qualifiers and went into the main event as the pick to win. AS the gate dropped, Wade didn't let anyone down, as he holeshotted and never looked back, taking home the first win of the 2004 Norba series. On Sunday, Wade was once again on the podium, this time in 2nd as he just missed out on winning the Jeep King of the Mountain race series opener, that will be on NBC TV next Saturday morning. Wade heads off to Big Bear, CA for Next Weeks Norba race. Wade's sponsors include Trek, Volkswagen, Azonic, Oakley, IRC, JBL, Powerbar, ATI, Bombshell (BMX) Rock Shox (MTB), Shimano

Jamie Staff also had a busy weekend as he was in Sydney, Australia for the finial round of the UCI Track World Cup series. The Hyundai/GT BMX star once again helped his Great Britain Track team to a gold medal and the honor of being the #1 UCI Track Team for 2004. BMX Track Building Seminar
15 representatives from 8 countries attended the UCI Track Building Seminar that was held on the 12th April. In the morning discussions where held about the general development of BMX, which everyone found interesting. After lunch, the UCI official track builder Tom Ritzenthaler & Mark Hildebrand got into details of how to design and construct a BMX track. The seminar ended with everyone examine the World Cycling Centre BMX track, where the participants of the UCI BMX high-level training showed of their skills and gave all a useful insight how different obstacles can be negotiated. Following the track building seminar, the UCI Track Building Guide CD/R will be finalized by the end of May, and be available through all National Federations.

UCI BMX High-level training
The UCI has successfully organised its initial stage in developing a high-level training program for BMX, leading up to the XXIX Olympics in Beijing, China 2008. The initial course was held 10-23 April 2004, where Michel Lalande was leading a group of 6 athletes and 4 coaches from around the world. The course attendees were making full use of the purpose build World Cycling Centre, with the world-class BMX track, the velodrome and gym facilities. Among the athletes was the 2003 Junior World Champion, Samantha Cools (CAN), who was very satisfied with the training and the opportunity to train under these ideal circumstances.
The high-level program is directly aimed to young athletes with the goal to become champions. The UCI will in 2005 extend the course over a 4-month period, where 10 athletes will be trained under the supervision of Michel Lalande and his competent staff of coaches. Please visit www.uci.ch for a photo report.

UCI BMX Supercross
The first round of the UCI BMX Supercross series was successfully held in Woodward West, CA (USA) in the first weekend of May. This year the number of events has increased to 10 races on each continent counting for UCI ranking points, which makes it easier for riders to be competitive in the overall ranking. Each rider will bring their top 7 results/points to the UCI BMX World Championships in Valkenswaard, Netherlands where the UCI World Ranking will be decided. A new feature for this year is that the overall world ranking progress can be viewed under “Global Rankings 2004”. In its initial (testing) phase is also the “Global Nations Ranking 2004”, which in the future will serve as selection criteria for the 2008 Olympics. The score will be settled at the NBL Stars’N Stripes National in South Park, PA and perhaps some riders will travel to Canada for the BMX International in Bridge Meadows, BC to collect some extra points. 12/05 Michael Robinson on Intense mountain bikes
We heard from a good source that Australian AA Pro, Michael Robinson, picked up a ride with Intense mountian bikes for the 4X mountain bike circuit. The deal is as a result of making the final at one of mountain bikes biggest events, Sea Otter. We hear that he's also racing BMX when he gets a chance, Intense mountian bikes have organised an Intense BMX for him even though the companies are seperate entities. It looks like Michael will be spending a lot of time with Kamakazi also spending this year on the 4X circuit.

Euro Champs Round 3 and 4 Esselbach
Bad weather, bad luck.
Rain and mud is all we will remember from round 3 and 4 in the European Championship.
It was so cold on saturday and the track was so bad. There was no speed, no excitement.
Sunday was much better towards the end.
And as usual......today the sun is shining.

Round 3:
Maris Strombergs did well all day, but crashed at the start and didn't make it into the main.
Vilma Rimsaite and Dagmara Polakova had their own problmes with the mud, but Jana Horakova made it into the main. A bad start has been bugging her all year so far, and so she didn't get any further than a 4th place.
Arturs Matisons also had a tough day, but made the main event.
He was leading the whole 1st straight until Florent Boutte from France passed him.
Coming out of the turn Florent crashed taking down Arturs and most of the other riders. Arturs got 6th :(

Round 4:
Maris Strombergs was super fast in the semi. His start in the main wasn't as good as we're used to and he got locked up in the pack. An 8th place for him, but still hes 4th in the rankings and will move up for sure.
Vilma Rimsaite and Jana Horakove were in the same semi. Jana and Vilma both had a bad start but Jana managed to qualify. She got a 6th place, but Dagmara had changed gears over night and did VERY well on sunday. She took a 2nd place behind the leader in the rankings Willy Kanis. Jana is now in 3rd overall, Dagmara 5th and Vilma 6th.
Arturs Matisons missed his final for the first time this year. Joost Wichman however was in it and showed it by taking the holeshot. Michal Prokop and Thomas Allier passed him Joost ended up 7th.
Allier won, Prokop 2nd and Lakucs 3rd.
Arturs is now in 4th, Joost in 9th and Kelvin Batey in 19th.

Baby Boy
ONE mechanic and world known announcer Paul Vakkers is a grand dad.
Former teamriders Dorus Brink and Pauls daugther Tamara have a cute baby boy that goes by the name: Jaymio.
Congratulations to the family and the proud parents.

11/05 ABA Factory team report volume 3
Roseville, California - With the season in full swing, the ABA's top factory teams marched into the Sacramento, California suburb of Roseville to do battle at Oak Creek BMX for the US Nationals. Factory Avent / Bombshell came into Nor Cal with the lead over second place Phantom / On Trac, third place Answer Factory, fourth place Factory Sharp and Redman / Yamaha Waverunner rounded out the top five. The stage was set for a major Factory showdown.

If you had to choose a word that described Roseville, that word has to be hot. With 100 degree temperatures scorching the venue, all the Factory riders were hiding out in their team compounds. One of the nicest new trailers was Challenge Racing's new 40-foot rig with air conditioning, a bedroom, and a lounge. Pete Heil is really going the extra mile to keep Factory BMX Racing at a professional level. Redman had the two brand-new Yamaha Waverunners on display just to let the top amateurs know what they were gunning for. Answer had their rig set up minus the Staats trailer and Phantom and Sharp had their compounds under the shade of the Roseville oaks. As always, Redline and Avent / Bombshell had their trailers and product displays out for fans to check out all the latest gear.

HIGHLIGHTS

While most of the Factory kids were toiling under the heat and trying to get the Oak Creek track dialed, local riders used their track knowledge to save energy in the heat of Friday and Saturday's practice. It paid off, with wins from plenty of Nor Cal locals. Sunday was slightly cooler than Saturday, but the action on the track was just as hot

Challenge Racing's Josh Oie was flying over the weekend and was on his way to a double-double when Phantom On Trac's Jay Greene put him over the first turn in his class main on Sunday.....The ABA shot some "friendly" photos with 16 Expert rivals Mike Moeller (Avent / Bombshell) and Sergio Pena (On Trac). They didn't duke it out off the track but they sure did in Sunday's class main when Moeller once again swooped under Pena (who was having Desoto flashbacks) in the last turn to take the win.....On Saturday, Avent / Bombshell's Joey Bradford was killing in motos but sprained his wrist in quarters then tried to do battle with Redman / Yamaha Waverunner's Jeff Pease in the 14 Expert main. After leading Jeff into the second turn, "Pimpin" Pease lived up to his nickname and swooped under Bradford to take the lead and the win. The exact opposite happened on Sunday with Bradford passing Pease down the second straight to take the win.....Redman / Yamaha Waverunner's Corben Sharrah had no problem moving up into 12 Expert with a double on Saturday.....The "Tribe" pulled in another phenomenal score on Saturday behind the unstoppable Terrell Proctor. Does that kid ever lose? Looks like Terrell's trying to keep the Waverunner in the Redman family.....Phantom gym rat Kyle Biagi rocked the house, doubling up on 17-18 expert both days while Phantom powerhouse Justin Dickmeyer finally proved to the naysayers that he's definitely legit, taking 19-27 Expert both days then jumped ship is now on Redman .....On Trac really has a lock on the top girls in BMX and it showed with wins from Aubrey Freeman, Tiff Ford, and Terra Nichols, doubles from local Jacee Lempner and Shelbi Long, and a triple from local Taylor Wolcott.....Answer's Connor Fields grabbed himself double wins in 11 Expert which didn't fare too well with teammate Jared Garcia. Is this another Answer team rivalry?.....Answer's Mailani McNabb was out on the track sporting a bright orange cape. What's that all about?.....Answer's BoBo Lechner had a miserable Saturday but came back strong with a double on Sunday.....Sharp's new pick up, Kyle Leiber, was the man to beat with a Double Double in 6 Expert and 6-and-under Open....."Redline Girl" Jessica Rodolf was back in top form, knocking Avent / Bombshell's Alise Post off the track and doubling on Sunday.....Crash of the weekend has to go to Auburn / Extreme Sports' Mike Darnley, flying bikeless over the first turn and landing flat from 15 feet up.

When all was said and done, it went Redman (232), On Trac (222), and Avent / Bombshell (218), one-two-three on Saturday's Factory podium. On Sunday, Avent / Bombshell (227) took the win, On Trac (225) pulled in for second, and Answer Factory (217) finished off the podium.

TEAM BREAKDOWN

Factory Avent / Bombshell - The "Bomb Squad" pulled in wins from Joey Bradford, Mike Lundy, and Chad Kerley (Open double). Mike Moeller doubled in 16 Cruiser and won class on Sunday. Alise Post grabbed the top spot in 13 girls on Saturday and beat the boys in 13-14 Mixed open on Sunday. TJ Johnson squeaked a win out at the line on Saturday then obliterated the comp on Sunday in 28-35 Expert.

Phantom / On Trac - On Trac stepped it up with yet another Double Double from "Bad Boy" Billy Russell. Andrew Churchwell nabbed a win in cruiser and Justin Dickmeyer took 19-27 Expert both days then bails out and joins the Redman camp. Jay Greene made the most out of Oie's crash on Sunday and took the win in 15 Expert. The team pulled in wins from Aubrey Freeman, Tiffany Ford, and Terra Nichols, doubles from local Jacee Lempner and Shelbi Long, and a triple from local Taylor Wolcott. Kyle Biagi won class both days and pulled an Open win on Sunday.

Answer Factory - Factory Answer pulled in a Double Double from Travis Ohrazda and wins out of Jared Garcia, BoBo Lechner and Danny Caluag. Mailani McNabb nabbed a first in 14 Girls. Connor Fields doubled up on the 11 Expert class both days and won cruiser on Saturday.

Factory Sharp - Sharp's new pick up Kyle Leiber grabbed the top spots in 6 Expert and Open both days. Despite having the local advantage, Nathan "Jailbreak" Bonilla could only squeak out a win in cruiser on Sunday.

Redman / Yamaha Waverunner - Redman pulled in wins from Jeff Pease, who doubled on Saturday and won cruiser on Sunday, Corben Sharrah, who also doubled on Saturday, Jerek Rosales (Double-Double), and Terrell Proctor (Double Double). Redman pulls off another coup and grabs Justin Dickmeyer from Phantom.

Misc. - Challenge Racing's local boy Alden Volle won class on Saturday while Stephanie Higgins nailed down the Double Double in 15 Girls and Cruiser. Josh Oie doubled on Saturday and won cruiser on Sunday. Pro Concept's Courtney Tomei won 16 Girls both days. Redline's Jessica Rodolf doubled on Sunday, winning 13 Girls and Cruiser. Auburn / Extreme Sports Kelly Brown nabbed a win in Open on Saturday.

After Roseville, the Factory Team standings have been shaken up again. Factory Answer has taken over the top spot just 49 points on top of second -place Factory Avent / Bombshell. Phantom / On Trac dropped back to third, but don't count out fourth place Redman / Yamaha Waverunner, who still only has 10 scores. Bumping Factory Sharp out of the top five is Factory Redline, who has been sneaking up on the pack the entire season with some awesome team scores. Here are the standings:

TOP 5 FACTORY TEAMS
1 ANSWER FACTORY 2585
2 FACTORY AVENT-BOMBSHELL 2536
3 PHANTOM-ON TRAC 2441
4 REDMAN-YAMAHA WAVERUNNER 2208

2 ANSWER FACTORY 215
3 FACTORY AVENT - BOMBSHELL 211
4 PHANTOM - ON TRAC 203

Next "A" schedule meet on the Factory tour is the Spring Nationals in Bakersfield, California. Can Answer hold off Avent / Bombshell and hang on to the lead? Will Phantom / On Trac be able to back up their best performance of the year? Redman / Yamaha Waverunner should be pulling in their 12th score, will it be enough to take over the lead? Can Factory Redline hold it together and stay in the top five? Look for the next Factory Team Report Volume 4 to drop the first week of June!

10/05 Tony Harvey leading British Championships
Former Australian Elite Champion, Tony Harvey (Avent/ECI), headed off to England for a bit of travelling over Christmas and has been a little on the quiet side since. We were emailed a link to an article on Britain's leading BMX resource BMXRacing-Dirt.com, it gives a pretty good run down of how the Elite classes went down at the first two rounds of the British Championships.

10/05 Warrnambool BMX Club news
Ash McCutcheon had a crash while training on Monday night and broke his arm. His mother (Donna) told me that he has between 3 and 12 breaks. The exact number of breaks will not be revealed as Donna is running a guessing competition for the Warrnambool Sprocket riders. A prize will be given to the correct guess at our next Club race.

In other news Ash has made the final of the Glenelg Sports Assembley Sports Stars awards in the Junior Male catergory. AA Pro, Luke Pretlove is a finalist in the Open Male category, Luke has been a finalist in Junior, Intermediate and now Open for the last 7 years. A BMX rider hasn't been able to win a category yet (not even the year that Luke won the Australian championships at Darwin) but he keeps trying, maybe this year we can take 2 catergories.

The awards cover achievments from the previous year in all sports in the Glenelg region which covers Portland, Hamilton, Warrnambool, Camperdown areas. The presentation and finals night is on Monday 17th May.

10/05 Lilydale (Victoria) race rescheduled

07/05 Matt Cecil signs with ONE.
One bicycles is proud to announce an addition to their factory team in 17 year old Expert Matt Cecil.

One's management has followed Matt now for over a year and suddenly found themselves in a position to work out an association with Matt. Matt brings the qualities one looks for in a rider in an abundant amount. He is a proven and talented BMXer with great communication skills and an understanding of how businesses can take the sport of BMX to another level.

Serving as the East Coast Manager for PRO-Stuff, LLC Matt already knows what it takes to keep the marriage between riders, who enjoy riding BMX, and big business, who are looking at capturing a market, healthy and productive. PRO-Stuff, LLC brings the ever popular Pro-Gate Starting System to the sport of BMX. Endorsed by the UCI as the 2008 Olympic Starting Gate system Pro-Gate brings starting gates in to the 21st Century with a myriad of technological advancements.

An added and unexpected surprise for one bicycles is the sponsorship of one bicycles by Pro-Gate. Even though this sponsorship falls naturally into place it was not a deciding factor in asking Matt Cecil to ride for one. Cecil recently and graciously approached Pro-Gate on our behalf and as the saying goes the rest is history. one's Factory Team is excited at the prospect of representing such a great system that they are familiar with and have been using all this season.

In conclusion one looks forward to working with an athlete who at such a young age is a proven personal success AND possesses the ability to bring success to those around him. Thanks and welcome aboard Matt Cecil!

06/05 One Bicycles news
Manuel Lopez takes Event Title in Argentina!

Amateur World Champion turned A Pro Manuel Lopez returned to Argentina after riding in the NBL's Gator and Easter Classics.

At his country's 3 and 4 National Qualifier this past week Manuel Lopez took 1st in every moto except for one. He finished 1st in the Main on Saturday and his only none 1st moto was the Main on Sunday. On Sunday in turn one he found himself rubbing shoulders with the rest of his class which put him behind. He scrambled to get back in the lead position and found himself going airborne at the end of the race with three other competitors and crossed the finish line in 4th!

Manuel's Dad reported that Manuel has created quite a buzz in BMX with his new Factory One ride and found himself at the center of a lot of interest in the one product line and the focus of a T.V. interview with Punto Extremo. (Extreme Point)

Manuel would not only like to thank his current sponsors shown below but would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who supported him while he was taking World Titles as an amateur. Special thanks go to Terri Soners and Dan's Competition, and Mr. Faria owner of Brazil's ICB Bike Company.

Way to go Manuel!

Florida Qualifiers 7 and 8 report...
We just got back from Florida's 7th and 8th Qualifiers in Port Charlotte Florida.

From the 'Marketing' stand point it was a total success. We got a lot of compliments over our team area which was setup right across the street from the walk way that everyone had to traverse to get anywhere at the event. The street was the only access to the track. So our setup caught the eyes of everyone coming or going to the event and then they saw it all day long while they were at the event. Ironically Manufactures Row was in a corner of the track and suffered a little in the 'traffic' department because of it.

Now for the BMX. With several riders on the injured list, and several riders not able to make it with justifiable reasons, it was up to the rest of the team to pull some weight. As their manager I was very proud of them. The riders that were injured came to support their teammates, work our Manufactures Display and volunteered for the event itself. The riders that were able all out did themselves.

Even though our team sheet came in low the Team enjoyed a lot of individual successes. New hire Rookie Pro Jason Bennett took the Elite Men's Title on Saturday and then came back Sunday and took a 7th. Welcome to the Big Boys Jason. ;) It was also the first time one US had a Pro take an Event Title! Nick Lucas came in nervous because of a recent age change but proved it did not matter. Alicia Middleton, one's 12 year old hopeful for future anchor girl, made her first State Main and even finished mid-pack! You go girl! Chris Codol who had been out for over 8 weeks with a multiple arm break, showed he was back with a vengeance doing extremely well for his first time back. Nick Goodrich, after making his 1st National Main two weeks ago in Sarasota came back and made it to his 1st State Main!

All our other regulars turned in stellar performances like David Bentlage who had it going on all day long only to find himself eating dirt on the last straight away of his Main. Super 'E' dominated but just couldn't keep himself upright all the way around the track, Shane Hall, our National 11 Expert did fantastic but is under contract to another State Team, etc but that's racing. All in all your guys busted it to succeed, represented well, and had a great time doing it.

Thanks for everything and see you at the State Championships in two weeks!

Who the heck does Bennett ride for anyway?
We had everyone asking Brent (Red Hot Racing's Manager) and myself why did Jason Bennett, at the top of the Starting Hill, take off his one jersey and put on a Red Hot Racing jersey before the race?

If you remember Red Hot Racing was the team that came to Jason's support after he and Hyper Hot Wheels parted company. Good friend Brent and the Red Hot Racing crew supported Jason's jump to one bicycles but felt a little down because they had hopes of Jason representing their team, at their home track, for the State Qualifier their track hosted.

Well the owner of one, the one US team, and Jason Bennett all felt the same way. Why shouldn't Jason fly their colors one last time at this important event to show solidarity to this great team and this great sport of ours. I mean, it's all good, right? Everyone involved from one to Red Hot was in support of this great opportunity and we seized the moment! :)

Brent and the Red Hot Crew, we all think you guys are the best, are awesome competition, and your home track did an outstanding job in hosting this Qualifier. Thanks you Guys!!!

He did come back and redeem himself later on Saturday night with a 3rd in Pro Open. BMX Downhill is a crazy sport, and only one rider has made every main event since the conception of this sport - Randy Stumpfhauser. Randy has the skill and agility to attack these crazy tracks, with 50 foot double jumps and speeds up to 40 miles an hour! This weekend was no difference, as Randy took to the Woodward West course, the same location as last years X Games course, and was ready for the challenge. Randy won all but one of his qualifying races and was one of the picks to win the event as the riders lined up in the gate for the main event. As the gate dropped, Randy took the early lead and started to pull away from the pack. Just as he exited the 1st turn, he unfortunately slipped his pedals and went from 1st to 6th. Randy fought his way through traffic and finished up 4th for the day. Right now, Randy Stumpfhauser is the overall best BMX racer in the world! Randy's sponsors include GT Bicycles, Hyundai, IRC Tires, Shimano, Fox Racing, Sun Ringle, Bombshell Forks, AC, Thomson, SDG Seats, Powerbar, CTI Knee Braces, Easton, Marwi, FSA Headsets, S & M, BMXpros.com, and Smith Eyewear.

04/05 Premiere X-Games Athlete and Action Sports Icon Dave Mirra to Represent Slim Jim Through 2007
CHICAGO — Legendary action sports hero Dave Mirra and long-time sponsor Slim Jim®, are announcing an extension of their partnership today at the 2004 Food Market Institute Show (FMI) at McCormick Place in Chicago. The Mirra and Slim Jim sponsorship, which began in 1997, now extends through 2007.

As part of the agreement, Mirra will continue to appear in Slim Jim advertising, publications, marketing and promotional materials, provide personal appearances and interviews for public relations purposes, and maintain his presence on the Slim Jim Web site.

The relationship between Mirra and Slim Jim has been a perfect match. Mirra is the most celebrated stunt bike rider in X-Games history. He has captured a total 14 X-Games medals, including a record 11 gold medals. Mirra has remained a fixture on the action sports circuit and is currently gearing up to compete in the Vans Triple Crown events beginning May 14 in Salt Lake City.

“We are fortunate to work with someone like Dave Mirra – a real role model for the Slim Jim customer who is young, bold and outgoing,” said Mike Duggan, director of marketing for Slim Jim. “He embodies the individuality, action and intensity of the brand in everything he does – both on and off his bike.”

Slim Jim is one of the original sponsors of action sports, beginning with its inception in the early 1990s. The brand has been involved with the X-Games, Gravity Games and nationwide grassroots Mirra tours. Slim Jim is also involved throughout the action sports industry as an official sponsor of the Burton Demo Tour (2003-2004) and the Burton/Phillips US Open (2004) and has been involved in the T-Mobile Ramps and Amp event in New York City (2003).

Slim Jim will also be the presenting sponsor of “Vertical Up-Rising,” an action sports event at the Kansas Speedway® on June 5 as part of the Kansas Lottery $200 Grand ARCA RE/MAX Series race day events. Mirra and skateboard legend Tony Hawk will headline the event that will take place on a vertical ramp in Kansas Speedway’s infield, the first time a collective group of action athletes of this caliber has been in the Kansas City area.

“I love working with a great sponsor like Slim Jim, a product with an image as bold as my own,” said Mirra. “The brand’s been with me since my early days, when the action sports phenomenon was just ramping up. While I continue to push the boundaries in my sport, Slim Jim pushes the boundaries of intense snacking.”

Mirra has reached icon status with his own shoe, bike, action figure, trading card and highly successful video game. Recently, Mirra has kicked it up off the bike as well, lending his personality to the entertainment world as host of MTV’s “The Inferno – Real World/Road Rules Challenge.” He also raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and hosts the Dave Mirra Charity Golf Tournament, benefiting the American Cancer Society.

03/05 Sunbury race report
Sunbury hosted the third round of the 2004 Northern Rivers championships on Sunday. There had been a lot of rain around the Sunbury area in the lead up to the event, and forecasts didn't look good for race day with showers expected. Given that, the club did a great job of preparing their track, it as a little soft and slippery, but it was under water only days before the event.
With the sun out and a little wind the track seemed to harden up as the day went on.
There were 26 Pro open entries, only 3 AA Pro's; Robert Slatter, Levi Collins and Brock Tuckerman. Brock crashed out for the day when he snapped his chain coming out of the gate in practice. The A Pros were headed up by Vet Pro's Trevor Stamford, Gary Morgan, Shane Jenkins and Jamie Bullows, along with the usual suspects Nathan May, Adam Carey, Ahron Jeffree, Brian Slatter, Bradley Cocks, Brad Gorrie, Nathan Barker, Shannon Rademaker, Connor Hunter, Grant Carra and others. Ashley McCutcheon was new youngster amongst the field, a lot smaller than the other riders, but was making a name for himself in the motos.
Four qualifying motos were cut to three when it looked like it was about to rain and the Northern Rivers guys stepped up the pace to make sure we were all in our cars before it would.
There was a run off for the semi final, three riders and two spots in the semi. Hunter and Carra got the snap and boxed Rademaker out down the first straight, so Rademaker took the low road in the first corner and pulled up next to Hunter, the riders collided but stayed upright. In the third straight Rademaker pulled to the lead, Hunter settled for second and local boy Carra would have to sit out the rest of the day.
In the semi finals the more experienced guys Stamford and Jenkins both took turns in showing the way in their respective semis, and both had to retire their leads to each of the AA pro riders on their gates.
In the final Slatter, Collins and Stamford got the snap, Jenkins and Morgan were close behind them and Carey, Jeffree and May were fighting out for the minors. The field bunched right up in the first corner, you could have thrown a blanket over the top 5 riders. They fell into positions over the next two straights.

A quick note from the Northen Rivers -
The Rich Rivers (Echuca) round of the series om May 23 has been cancelled due to the track not being up to standard.
The Benalla round will be held at Bendigo.
Entry forms will be available soon.
