Product Spotlight: Blast Action Replay for GoPro & iPhone
The guys at Blast Motion sent us an email announcing Mike “Hucker” Clark as its latest Action Sports ambassador. I’d never heard of Blast Motion before or any of its products, but I don’t know how. The Blast Action Replay is an awesome add on for anyone with a GoPro or a newish iPhone. The Blast Action Replay syncs up with your camera to overlay metrics like acceleration, vertical height, rotation, and hang time. Not only would that make it an invaluable tool for training, it would be a heck of a lot of fun for those who like to share riding videos with their friends.
Simple fact is I want one! Check out all the details below, it’s hard to not get excited about the Blast Action Replay.
And if all the marketing talk, features and functions don’t do it for you just check out this video that was shot with only an iPhone 6+ and a Blast Motion sensor – with no editing needed.
Automatically capture and replay your metrics and action video highlights.
Amplify your action sports experience with Blast Action Replay. By combining the Blast precision motion sensor with your GoPro ® action camera, you can now capture your action metrics (acceleration, vertical height, rotation, and hang time) and overlay them on top of dynamically created video highlights to experience your most heroic moments in a whole new way. You’ll never look at your action videos the same again!
There’s no need to alter your actions or do anything out of the ordinary, and there are no power buttons or controls to get in your way. The Blast precision motion sensor knows when you’re moving and dynamically powers-up the sensor and engages the patented motion detection algorithms to capture your important 3D action metrics in real-time. (Action Replay is currently optimized for skateboarding, BMX, and motocross.)
Make every move matter.
With Blast Action Replay, action sports enthusiasts can gain the insights they need to improve their performance, gain the competitive edge and show the world what they’ve achieved.

Some Questions of our Own
We had some questions of our own about the device that you might also find handy.
How long would you expect a Blast Action Replay battery last? Are the batteries interchangeable for longer ride sessions?
The Blast Action Replay lasts for 8 hours on a full charge, giving ample time to record a full day’s worth of riding. With the wireless charging base that uses an induction charging method, it charges fully in about 1.5 hours. Unfortunately, the batteries aren’t interchangeable but with how quickly it charges and how long it lasts, users shouldn’t be without the sensor for too long!
Are they waterproof? Safe from rain, snow, jumping a bike into a lake?
The sensor itself is water resistant, so it’s fine with all normal activity like sweating, getting caught in the rain or snow but we wouldn’t recommend submerging it in water by itself. The wearable clip for the sensor that is included (pictured below to the right) in the box forms a very tight seal around the sensor to make it waterproof when you’re wearing it. The action attachment does make the setup waterproof (pictured to the left below)
Do you have any BMXers using them?
Yes, we currently have a multitude of BMX racers using them, most notably Mike Hucker Clark which we are announcing today. He’s also a big fan of the new adaptive slow mo feature which automatically knows when you’re doing the peak motion and slows it down to give even greater insights into the jumps. Plus, it looks very cool and doesn’t require any editing from the user – the clips are created automatically with just an iPhone and the sensor! Here’s one of the latest Hucker clips: https://vimeo.com/128938574
Is there a how to set up the blast action replay video?
Yes, the box has materials for users to get started and Blast Motion also has a YouTube channel with a variety of “Getting Started” and How-To videos. Following is a link for your reference (please note the product names have changed since this video was added many months ago. It’s still the same product and the online sources will be updated shortly): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1Qn3AktCIg
