Through the 45 or so year history of BMX Titanium has come and gone in various forms. Unfortunately the manufacturing cost has meant that it was an expensive option in comparison to cromo or alloy. But since the carbon revolution all of a sudden it doesn’t seem to be all that expensive, when compared to carbon.

Going by the recent USA BMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa Titanium seems to be on the rise.

SSquared Junior Frames

Three times winner of Pull Magazine’s Bicycle of the Year SSquared had their Titanium Junior frames on display.

All we know about them at this stage is they will be available in mini, junior, expert, expert xl, and expert xxl.

Warrco

While wandering around the pro shops Team bmxultra.com rider Dane Anderson stumbled across the Warrco titanium forks and bars that coincidentally are manufactured in Australia. The 2014 start up Warrco offer Titanium forks with 10 or 20mm dropouts for 20 and 24″ bikes, handlebars in 6.5”, 7.75”, 8”, 8.125”, 8.25”, 8.5” rise and high performance bearings.  Check out their website at www.warrcobmx.com for more information.

Will titanium be here to stay? We have seen companies like Profile offering various bolt options, Speedline also offer Ti stem bolts and brake posts and Supercross hubs use a Ti lock ring, and they have all been around for some time now. It wouldn’t surprise me if Ti frames, forks, and bars are here to stay.
