Australian-based wheels, water and lifestyle clothing brand LKI has popped the lid on what could potentially become an entirely new action sport after releasing a video of their new bike-surfing concept today.

The brainchild of the world-renowned freestyle trials rider and Flair Action sports owner, Jack Field and LKI director/founder, Jason Daniel, bike surfing involves mounting a BMX frame to a surfboard, then using the contraption to carve the surf wake of the LKI / Tige boat without the need of a tow-rope.

“Jack recently pitched the concept to me and I knew straight away he was onto something,” says Daniel. “We used an old BMX frame and a surfboard I had lying around, then came up with a mounting system to make it as sturdy as possible.”

Over the weekend the pair and some close friends underwent a testing surf session at Somerset Dam in Queensland, with the result being a huge success, as released on YouTube.

“It was exciting how well it worked,” says Daniel. “This could be the birth of a whole new action sport that combines our passions for both wheels and water-based action sports.

“When the tracks are too wet to ride we can still get our fix and engage in our interests,” he laughs.
