Interbike is the largest Bicycle trade show in North America and for many years there was a strong BMX race presence. It’s been dwindling somewhat over the past five or so years. There’s been a growing trend for some of the bigger brands opting to team up with distributors for a smaller display area or just simply not show at all.

Now there could be a bunch of factors behind this, the internet being most obvious, everyone sees the products from as early as the first prototypes. There are cost factors for booths and the hidden costs for having staff at the event as well as travel, accommodation, etc. With most manufacturing now overseas Taipei Cycle, the worlds largest bike show, has a greater focus.

What’s interesting though is the companies that were traditionally displaying their products at Interbike are set to do it in front of a more focused crowd at The Greatest Race on Earth, the USABMX Grand Nationals in Tulsa. The massive race event will attract the biggest brands in the USA and abroad. It makes a lot of sense.
