BMX Australia to Live Stream National Series Opener

BMX Australia is excited to announce the first live video stream of its National Series being held in Nerang on Friday January 3 and Saturday 4, 2014. Never before have rounds of the National Series been broadcast live, with the opening event in Nerang marking a significant advancement in delivering rich media content to the BMX community in Australia and overseas.

The live video stream will be available when race action starts from 4pm local Queensland time on Friday and 10.30am local Queensland time on Saturday. The complete coverage of the motos, semi finals and finals will be broadcast live.

To view the live stream, viewers can simply use the BMX Australia App on Apple or Android devices. The BMX Australia App was launched in December and provides a wealth of information about BMX boasting full interaction through social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and BMXATV (YouTube). The App, available for free from iTunes or Google Play allows users to watch live video streams of BMX Australia events by selecting “Live BMX”.

“This is a tremendous step forward for BMX Australia,” President Barry Knight said today. “We have the ability for any one, anywhere to view our sport where ever they may be.”

“What I am excited about is we have a way of broadcasting our sport all over the country and internationally. We have riders from the US, Japan, New Zealand and Great Britain competing this week, their friends and family can view their progress live as we broadcast.”

The season opener at Nerang has already attracted record numbers of riders from across Australia with 580 entries across the 2 days of racing in the City of Gold Coast Council. The calibre of riders on display is reflective of Australia’s presence in the sport globally with World #1 Caroline Buchanan riding BMX as she emabarks on selection to Rio 2016. Josh Callan (World #6) from Victoria will have some fierce competition as he looks to repeat success in Round 1 when he took it out last year. Barry Nobles (World #8) from the USA has made his way “Down Under” and is considered to be one for the favourites in a class that is stacked with talent. Former World #4 and 2013 Overall Series Winner Anthony Dean will be looking to put a horror run of injury behind him in the New Year though National Champion Corey Friewsyk and several other riders in the Elite Men’s class will make sure that all eyes are trackside when racing gets underway.

In total 15 World Plate holders and 80 Australian Plate Holders will start in Nerang which racing being contested in 14 Years to Elite classes.
