While the rest of the bmxultra.com team stayed back in Victoria the team’s AA Pro/Elite rider Levi Collins headed to the Gold Coast for the first two rounds of the Australian national series.

We asked Levi to put a few words together to share his experiences, this is what he had to say.

What better way to start the year than on the Gold Cost racing the best in BMX racers in Australia. The Nerang track  is fast flowing technical and a fun track to ride, so I couldn’t wait get into racing. Time trials are not something I have done a lot of at racing but my lap was good I didn’t push to hard I just wanted to be smooth and get around. I ended up 27th and my moto draw was packed with four guys making it through to the main Luke Madill, Anthony Dean, Barry Nobles, Matt Willoughby, Joel Clark, Dave Habicht and Derrek Mellish. I finished with a 7th an two 5ths.
At round 2 I put in a faster time trial, even though I hit the gate ended up 25th on the list and hopping for a better moto draw but this is elite and everyone is fast! I ended up with a 5th, 6th and a 7th, most of us were fairly evenly matched so racing was tight and hard from the outside but thats racing so I’ll head home and strive to be faster!
