BSX “Sam Willoughby Ride” Session This Sunday
Sam Willoughby is one of the most successful BMX racers in the history of our sport. He’s an Aussie battler, a champion, a hero, an inspiration. When the call went out to help Sam in his recovery from his freak accident in September which caused spinal cord damage the BMX world (and friends) stepped up and to this day have raised $USD191,643 which is just over 95% of the $200,000 goal.
This time it’s our turn.
In 2006, when we had the first BSX event, a very young Sam, along with his brother Matt, supported the event. It’s only fitting that we should return the favour.
The Details
The ride session is from 1pm until 5pm on Sunday November 27.
The address is 151 Powers Road, Kinglake Victoria (off Extons Road).
The track is on private property and is only open to the public on official ride days, so make the most of this rare opportunity.
Bring your full race gear and racing license.
It’s $5 per rider for the session with all of the money raised going to Sam’s Road2Recovery fund.
Bring a little extra loose cash and we will dig up a couple of silent auction items that were left overs from the last BSX race. There are some t-shirts and a Pro XL Intense frame.
If you would like to make a donation, you can do so by heading over to the website road2recovery.com/cause-view/strengthfor91
About BSX
BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style BMX racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider’s skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are intense under race conditions, offering a fun and entertaining event for competitors and spectators alike. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the annual BMX Victoria Track Attack series.
The primary goal BSX is to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation but there’s so much more to the event. It creates an atmosphere that words just can’t describe. Since the very first event in 2006, BSX has raised over $40,000 helping to providing the hospital with much-needed equipment.
