Frame Protection Kits

Paint protection on cars is pretty common, frame and fork protection kits for MX and Mountain Bikes is too. Why don’t BMXers use it more?

As COVID impacts the bicycle industry, in the form of slowed manufacturing, BMX racers are likely to find themselves using the same equipment longer. It only makes sense that they should seek options that will keep their frames looking good and protect their investment, for when it comes time to sell up and move on to something new.

Do a google search on “bicycle protection kit” or something similar and you’ll find a massive number of options. Most of them are made for MTB or even road bikes, but there’s no reason they can’t be applied to BMX race frames.

I found a number of options of pre-cut protection kits from Australian brand Bunnyhop, they’re based at Sydney’s Northern Beaches area.

Protection Set Features

  • 165 micron gloss clear top-coated aliphatic polyurethane
  • X-Proof Plus top-coated high gloss finish
  • Self-healing – helps small scratches in the film disappear at room temperature with gloss and matt finishes and when the film is exposed to heat.

Protection Sheets

They also provide DIY wraps in cut and uncut options if you are looking to individualise the look of your bike.
