Liam Phillips Joins GT Bicycles BMX Race Team

Wilton, Conn. – GT Bicycles, a premium brand of Dorel Industries, Inc. (TSX: DII.B, DII.A), today announced the addition of the reigning and two time UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Champion and 2013 UCI BMX World Champion Liam Phillips to its roster of Elite BMX Professionals.

At twenty-seven years-old, Phillips is a highly accomplished athlete, having become the first and only male to win back-to-back BMX Supercross World Cup titles in 2014 and 2015. Phillips is an integral part of the Great Britain Cycling Team, and has been the lead figure in the BMX discipline, acquiring numerous National titles from an early age.

The Brit is no stranger to GT. “This is a coming home for me. I’m extremely proud to once again ride for a brand rooted in BMX racing,” said Phillips who raced for the GT brand as a junior.

“We are thrilled to welcome Liam back to GT,” said Tim Inall, Global General Manager for GT. “Liam is an incredibly talented athlete. His motivation and drive have already positioned him as the most consistent rider on the BMX World stage. We are eager to see what the season has in store for Liam.”

Liam will compete on GT’s 2016 Speed Series BMX frame and will focus on retaining his UCI Supercross World Cup title as well as competing at the UCI BMX World Championships.
