Michram Prototype Hubs and Cranks

While most other BMX companies shut down for the holiday period Aussie manufacturer Michram Industries (known around the globe for their chain rings, stems and warm up posts) are using the silly season to create some new prototype products, specifically alloy cranks and hubs.

When we asked Michram about the new gear and when it will go into production this is what they had to say. “…just doing some testing on them to make sure I’m happy with everything and it all runs how it is supposed to. Then maybe around mid to end of January I will probably start making them in production.”

Cranks

There’s not a whole lot if information about the cranks at the moment, it’s still early days. But they sure do have a 90’s/mid school look about them.

Cranks will be a 2 piece but will have the option of 4 or 5 bolt spider or a full disc if you don’t want to run a spider on the crank.

Hubs

The new Michram Industries Isosceles 20mm front hubs have a unique design with the shape of the hub being triangular (hence the name) rather than the standard circular shape. An aesthetic thing, perhaps, but it does look pretty cool. We also found out their 20mm axles are available separately. If my memory serves me right, it’s the only coloured 20mm axle on the market, with polished or black anodise being the norm.

“The hub is just the front for now I am working on a free wheel rear hub first then I have an idea for a new cassette as well.”
