The Prostart Max portable gate is now available to the public.

When Prostart first started manufacturing their premium quality practice gates it would have been difficult to foresee how they would be used years later. As a stand alone practice gate for BMX they do a phenomenal  job. A quick glance over Prostart’s Instagram page and you will see many of our sports biggest names from across the globe using Prostart practice gates, a testament to their products.

Prostart practice gates are a lot more dynamic though, you can daisy chain them together and two gates together out of the box, or run up to four gates at once from one controller with a gate hub accessory. Prostart starting gates are being used for mountain bike events too which puts a bigger demand on the gate over all. More leverage on the magnets and requiring extensions to fit the bigger wheel base. This is where the Prostart Max fits into the line up. Where the original gate was made for 20 & 24″ bikes the Max is made for up to 29″ wheels. It’s  250mm longer, 180mm wider, has two magnets, but it is heavier and not quite as portable as the Prostart’s Original gate.

With Prostart gates you don’t need an operator, a single foot press on either of the heavy duty platform mounted buttons triggers the call to start with a delay that allows you to get set before the cadence starts.

Packing down and setting up is quick and easy. Carrying the gate can be a little awkward,  but can be easily overcome by using a shipping trolley or cart which seem to be common these days and won’t break the bank.

Easy to operate and supplied with both a power adapter and a cigarette lighter it would be difficult to find a more flexible portable practice gate solution.

A prototype of the Prostart MAX was on display at the 2022 USABMX Grands, it changed a little bit by the time it went into production. Two of the biggest changes are that the platform no longer folds, it unscrews and separates and the gate is covered with black grip tape.
