The Snowy Mountains BMX Club, at Jinderbyne in Southern NSW, was all set to have it’s official reopening event on Saturday. The event would be the first race on the track after the $290,000 upgrade that saw improved drainage, track surfacing and asphalt corners.
Poor weather on the forecasts forced the club to postpone the event until May 20, but that didn’t stop us from getting a ride in on the dry and fast track on Friday evening.
The Snowy Mountains track is fun and flows nicely, it drops a few meters from the start to the finish straights. Even with the smaller start hill, it’s challenging no matter what level of rider you are, the faster you go the more challenging the track feels. Bike Tracks Australia have done a great job with the upgrades, time will tell how the track will hold up through Jinderbyne’s harsh winter.
The Snowy Mountains BMX Club members are lucky to have such a great facility for their local track. Hopefully we get to visit again soon.
