I have a very soft spot for Mid School BMX, there’s something about the time period where the sport was so underground it nearly flat-lined. Manufactures had to come up with products that were different so they could stand out from the crowd, but also be functional and strong. Weight was a lower priority. During that period Profile was still king. They had some awesome frames, forks and bars. But it was their stems, chainwheels, cranks and hubs that were highly sort after.

I have a reasonable sized Mid School bike collection, and I have been keeping an eye out for one of these stems for a couple of years now but for whatever reason I haven’t found one that pushed me to the point of purchase.

Now I have no excuses…and neither do you…I think I’m going to add a polished Pro XXL to my shopping list this week so it can go with my HIP and quilled stems.

Now it’s time to go off and nostelge (yes I know it’s not a word) myself.
