Supercross BMX Team at the Australian Championships

The Supercross BMX Australia team has a bit of an ongoing curse when it comes to the Australian Championships. Usually most of the team are out of the competition before it starts due to injury. Because of this we stepped up the three rider team to four.

Coming into the nationals Jade was still out recovering from knee surgery, Esther was out recovering from thumb surgery (although she did register and cut a few laps in practice just in case her thumb felt up to racing). Two weeks out from the nationals the curse tried to take a third team member out when Shane started to suffer from an old back injury.

Peter Little

With 30 riders in Junior Elite, Peter Little went 3-3-3 in his heats. Peter looked comfortable with the track and a good chance for a finals berth. In his semi Peter had to come out of lane one his start was good but he couldn’t make it stick and had to settle for 8.

Shane Jenkins

Shane Jenkins kicked off his Aussies campaign with the 40-44 Men’s class, a 1-3-3 in the heats and a 3 in the semi Shane was looking good for a nice result in the final, things didn’t quite go his way and he finished with the #8. It was going to be a tougher ride in the 40-44 cruiser class. Shane finished 3-2-3 in the heats, 4 in the 1/4 final but bombed out in the semi.

We’re looking forward to having the whole team healthy again and all back on their bikes soon.
