15/12 Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia at the Victorian Championships
Supercross BMX Australia press release
There was a strong Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX team presence at the Victorian State Championships held at know last month. The team did an outstanding job representing the Speedline Parts and Supercross BMX products on and off the track. Here’s how they went.
Madie Guyers (South Australia)
The 2012 Victorian State Titles were held at Knox BMX club, which is one of Madie’s favourite Victorian tracks. “It’s always smooth and fast with great transitions and also it’s a great track to manual and jump. The only downside is the flat start hill which you need to have lots if leg power to snap out and get out front like Gemma-lee Thomas did.”
“In my first moto of 15 girls I came out strong and got third.I followed this up with 4th in my next two motos.
In the final it was tight and close racing into the first berm, I got squeezed out but managed to come back and pick up a couple of places finishing with 6V.”
“My first interstate A-Pro ladies race was a great experience,I came 5th,6th and 5th so missed on the final, but met sum really great girls..overall it was a great weekend and looking forward to getting my 2013 Supercross frame.”
Craig Austin (Victoria)
Craig enjoyed the track and the racing. “I loved how fast the track was.” Craig was looking trim and fit with his Supercross bike looking awesome as always. Craig put in some solid racing in his motos but just missed out on the finals, it was top effort concerning he was at the birth of his new daughter the day before. Congrats to Craig and family from all the Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia team..
Simon Trewin (Victoria)
The 32 of Trewin was doing it for the Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia team on the Saturday with some awesome racing on his Supercross Envy cruiser. Simon easily transferred to the main event the only obstacle was the massive infamous Knox doubles. Seeing as Simon has broken both ankles and wasn’t walking for the first four months this year due to injury the thought of not making the double and crashing was the reason he didn’t have a go at the jump. Once the dust settled in the final he crossed the line in 2nd place.
Ethan Zrna (South Australia)
Here’s Ethan’s Vic champs experience in his own words. “We arrived on Friday and did some practice, it was good to have some practice on a dry track as last time we were there it was the pre-titles and it was very wet.
Saturday was sprocket and cruiser racing day and we watched some racing.
On Sunday I had 3 motos and I won all of them. In my semi I came first which gave me first gate pick for the final. I chose lane 2 and I got the hole shot out of the start. In to the first corner Patrick Bognar took a dive but didn’t pass me and he did the same on the second corner which meant I had more speed out of the corner and I sped away and won back to back Vic titles.
I was very happy how my ENVY junior plus handled and I can’t wait to get my new expert frame.”
Craig Penglase (Victoria)
Craig was a little distracted at the Victorian State Championships with his official role as BMX Victoria president and cheering on his daughter Issy, however he still managed to get some racing in. The 40-44 Men’s cruiser class is always a tough field. Too tough on the day for Craig to make the main.
The team would like to thank Shaun Collins for his help over the weekend as the Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia team manager.
The Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia team is proudly supported by Speedline Parts, Supercross BMX, Dirt Designs, bmxultra.com and TECH.
Speedline Parts
Speedline Parts is a bicycle parts manufacture located in Southern California. We currently produce cranksets, pedals, chains, headsets, brakes and seatpost clamps. All of our products are tested and used by team riders. Speedline Parts are distributed in Australia by Supercross BMX Australia.
Supercross BMX Australia
Supercross BMX is a leader in BMX by design, innovation and manufacturing. The Supercross ENVY is the lightest production frame, full stop! However there is much more to the brand than the ENVY frame. There is also the alloy BLUR and the cromo BOLT LT, both of which have the same race winning geometry as the ENVY. Supercross BMX currently produces some of the most respected cromo/heat treated handlebars and forks in the business as well as hubs, stems, seats, posts, tires, cranks and a while lot more.
Supercross BMX Australia are the exclusive Australian distributor, keeping prices competitive and in many cases cheaper than the US. On top of that SX Australia put back into Australian BMX sponsoring some of the most talented riders in Australia on the Supercross Australia factory team and supporting the Speedline Parts/Supercross BMX Australia and bmxultra.com teams. Supercross BMX Australia is also a big supporter of the BSX charity event.

factory 47 supporting BSX
The guys over at factory47 are sending four copies of their feature length documentary “Life Behind Bars Pedal to Medal” DVD to BSX to be used as prizes.
We were blown away by the documentary when we had the opportunity to review it earlier this year. The film follows some of the biggest names in Australian BMX in the lead up to the 2008 Olympic games as they qualify for the historic first ever appearance of BMX on sports biggest stage.
We’d like to take the opportunity to thank factory47 for their support. Maybe one day we could get them down to BSX to cover the event.
To make sure you are in the running to win one of the DVDs make sure you don’t miss BSX Monday January 14, 2013.

11/12 One Bicycles Australia at the ACT Championship
One Bicycles Australia press release (Written by Miekel Rose)
This year saw the ACT’s postponed in March due to ridiculously wet conditions and run in December where the Pre-Titles were supposed to be run. The weather on the weekend was almost perfect, a little hot Saturday but nice on Sunday until the heavens opened up at the on track presentations. The ACT pulled together to get both clubs working on the one track to ensure the best event they could for the running of the 2012 ACT Championships. The track was smooth and fast and there were promises of some fast times and close competitive racing
As this was the home track for the Rose family, there were high expectations of the kids to perform on home soil! Mikayla was hoping to get the threepeat as State Champion on her 20” which was a huge ask after only being out of a leg brace 3 weeks before the event.
Mikayla had cruiser on Saturday to kick off her campaign in 8-13 Girls and was looking forward to starting her weekend off well. Mikayla rode well and did not drop a lap all through the motos. In the final she came out well and got the hole shot to the corner, riding away to a 1ACT plate and a great way to kick off her weekend.
In her 20” class on Sunday, the numbers were down for the 12 Girls which was disappointing, but her rivals were no slouches, so Mikayla knew she needed to bring her A Game if she wanted to hold on to the number 1 plate. Mikayla was riding fast and very confident on a track she knew well. Mikayla didn’t drop a lap all through the heats again and was looking good to take away the win. In the final heat she took off and was never touched, winning comfortably in the end to seal her third consecutive State Champion’s Plate.
Nik had the 13-14 Boys Cruiser class up first on Saturday and was hoping to do well in this very competitive age group. Nik is a confidence kid and he knew it had been years since he secured a 20” State plate. Nik was determined to do well and had trained consistently leading up to the event. Nik had some tough battles in his heats and came out sitting in third overall for the final. The trick on the weekend was to navigate the big second straight well by jumping through the whole series of jumps to get the advantage. Nik was struggling with getting shut down and did not get the smooth run he was hoping for. In the final Nik came out slowly and had to make it up to the first corner. He struggled again on the second straight not getting a smooth run through and only managed 4th in to the second corner, but after a drag race down the 3rd straight, Nik managed to hold his line in to the last corner to pull away with a clear third in the final securing his first plate for the weekend.
In 14 Boys 20” Nik had a tough class to compete against but was determined to get his first final on the 20” for a while at State level. Nik rode his heats well with a 2nd, 4th and a fifth, making his way to 8th place after the motos and earning himself a finals birth. Nik was still having some trouble with the second straight as it was getting congested with riders and not allowing him to get the flow he needed to gain speed. Nik ended up with gate 8 for the final and came out strong sitting in 5th by the second straight. The front 4 riders had taken off but Andy Hughes washed out in the fast second corner and went down causing a pile up of 3 of the top 4 riders allowing Nik and others through and the battle was then on for the podium. Nik fought hard to the line crossing in third to stand on the podium twice in two days. He was stoked and later said he had a smile on his face all the way down the third straight knowing he had made top 3. Great confidence boost for the young fella.
Josh opted to race his age and competed in the 17-18 Mens Class for 20”. Josh had a memorable first heat doing some creative pack jumping to come away from almost last to winning the first heat. Josh remained consistent and was sitting in the number one spot after the motos. Josh sat on the gate in the final feeling pretty confident he had dialled in the demanding second straight and was hoping for a great result. When the gate dropped, Josh had a slow gate which found him in 4th heading in to the first corner. When the dust settled and the second straight was gone, josh had made his way to second and was in a hot battle for first, which continued to the line, with Josh finishing in second for the final.
It was a great weekend of racing for the Rose kids and they had their old coach Craig Fisher in their corner for the event as he had stayed with us. It was great to catch up with my child hood mate Michael J and have Fisho staying with us. I loved catching up with friends and when I got a chance to scratch to walk around and say hello to people I hadn’t seen for months. Gotta love this sport.
Big thanks goes out to my lovely wife, who not only put up with me but my mad mates, but managed to transport the kids and feed everyone over the 3 days, love you heaps. To Craig and Mickey, thanks for coming down and making it a memorable weekend. Huge thanks to the sponsors, ONE Bicycles, ECI, SNAP, Alius and Lizard Skins Grips for all the support. To Shane Jenkins, Scott Hand, the family at ECI and Craig Fisher, thanks for the ongoing dedication to supporting my kids, we all truly appreciate it.
Mikayla finished with 2 State Champion Plates, Nik two Podiums and Josh a second so not a bad weekend for the kids. Well done guys, I am ONE very proud Dad.

About BSX
BSX (Bicycle Supercross) is one-on-one sprint trails style racing on a backyard track built specifically to test a rider’s skills. The short straights, lofty jumps and tight corners are very intense under race conditions but also fun for competitors and create quite a lot of entertainment for spectators. The event provides a unique experience for the local Victorian riders, as well as the interstate and international visitors during an off day of the Track Attack series. The events primary function is to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation. In just seven years the event has raised approximately $30,000 which has provided the hospital with new equipment. Funds have been raised through gate takings, raffles, auctions and donations.

06/12 BMX Sports Western Australia 2013 State Championships
BMX Sports Western Australia press release
BMX Sports Western Australia are pleased to announce the 2013 State Championships has been awarded to Eastern Goldfields BMX Club.
After a very busy year for the EGBMX Club, rebuilding the ramp, and remodelling the track, the club is excited to host the premier event for BMX in Western Australia.
BMXWA President, Matt Butterworth has acknowledged the work of the EGBMX Club President Steve McClerie and the Committee in what he believes will be one of the best BMX events in WA to date.
In commenting on the venue, Mr Butterworth said “The club stepped up to mark, to provide athletes and spectators with a first class facility and also the opportunity for families from all over the state to explore the rich history of the Golden Mile. It’s got an absolute professional feel to it from the moment you walk in the gate,” he said. “It’s good for the competitors, but not only that it’s good for the spectators as well.”
EGBMX Club President Steve McLerie had this to say: “The EGBMX Club looks forward to welcoming riders from all over the State to the BMXWA 2013 State Championships to be held in Kalgoorlie-Boulder”.
“Our committee are ready to commence planning for the event in an effort to host an event that will be remembered by all for years to come”.
Further upgrades are scheduled to compliment those already completed earlier this year. This will provide a facility for the Championships that will have an excellent start ramp, challenging track and outstanding viewing areas for all.
For those wanting to book accommodation, Pre States 1 will be held on Tuesday 1st October 2013, Pre States 2 will be held on Thursday 3rd October, Registration and Official practice on Friday 4th October, and Racing will be Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October.
04/12 Supercross Australia’s newest team member
Supercross BMX Australia press release
When we originally set up the Supercross BMX Australia factory team we also set up a Speedline/Supercross team. The idea behind Speedline/Supercross team was to have a good mix of riders who represent the brands in a variety of ways. First and foremost they all love BMX racing, they are also fans of the Speedline and Supercross brands. While not all of the riders will go on to the Supercross factory team it’s also a feeder team. As a team we help riders to become the best they can be, on the best equipment available and provide support along the way.
There is no doubt about it, we have some great personalities and awesome riders on the team. While we were looking for a Supercross factory team rider who could step it up in the Junior Elite class in 2013 we couldn’t overlook Speedline/Supercross rider Peter Little. The more we looked into it the more Peter rose to the top of our list. Peter has been riding Supercross for many years, his bike handling skills and speed are equal to the best in his class, which is why he’s been in the mix at National Championships for many years, and he continues to show improvement every time we see him ride.
We’d like to welcome Peter to the Supercross BMX Australia factory team. Peter joins Esther Woodward and Jade McPherson as the final rider to round out our three rider team for 2013.
We hope to have Peter in the Supercross factory jersey soon, but until then you can see him continue flying Speedline/Supercross team jersey and Troy Lee Designs pants and gloves on the track.
The Supercross BMX Australia factory team is co-sponsored by Troy Lee Designs/Steve Cramer Products, Speedline Parts, Dirt Designs, and bmxultra.com.

03/12 Team bmxultra.com update
bmxultra.com press release
The last weekend in November was a big weekend for the bmxultra.com team. Dane Pangallo headed to Tulsa to be a part of the first ever USABMX Grand Nationals. While the remainder of the team were flying the bmxultra.com colours at Knox for the Victorian State Championships.
Dane at the USABMX Grand Nationals
Dane Pangallo had already travelled to the UK for the World Championships earlier in the year, however he wanted to see out the year with bang. So he packed his bike and headed to Tulsa for the biggest race in the world, the first ever USABMX Grand Nationals.
Dane may not have come home with the result he was looking for, although a quarter finals berth isn’t too bad, but he learnt a lot from the trip and is already planning to head back for more USABMX races in 2013.
The Victorian State Championships
The rest of the Team bmxultra.com riders hit up the Knox track for the Victorian State Championships.
Aaron Rogers had a nice ride on Saturday in the 30-34 cruiser class. He finished in fourth place in the main. He then followed that up with a fifth place in the 30-34 mens class on Sunday.
Shane Jenkins was competing at his 30th consecutive Victorian State Championships. On Saturday Shane finished with a fourth place finish in the 40-44 mens cruiser class. On Sunday Shane crashed in the final of the 30+ Masters class while hot on the heals of the race leaders, he had to settle for eighth place.
Levi Collins was looking good in the AA Men’s final and was looking to move to a top three position when it all went horribly wrong for him in the third straight, when the dust settled Levi had to settle for eighth place.
The bmxultra.com team is proudly supported by One Bicycles, Supercross BMX, Alienation, Dirt Designs, Tioga, Elite Cycle Imports, THE, Profile
