KHS (Free Agent) Call it a Day

KHS (Free Agent) Call it a Day.

In a surprising announcement today, KHS revealed that the company will be shutting its doors at the end of the month. The closure also marks the end of Free Agent BMX, a brand with deep roots and a long history in the BMX industry.

Originally emerging out of California during the early to mid-1980s, Free Agent quickly became a respected name in BMX, known for its race bikes, freestyle heritage, and strong presence throughout the sport’s boom years. The brand was later acquired by KHS in the mid-1990s, where it continued on under the KHS umbrella for decades.

While Free Agent maintained a loyal following, activity from the brand had become noticeably quieter over the past few years, with fewer new products and limited visibility compared to its earlier years.

For many BMX riders, racers, and industry veterans, the news signals the end of another iconic BMX brand that helped shape the sport through multiple generations. Free Agent leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered by riders who grew up racing, riding, and representing the brand over the years.
