Product Spotlight: Supercross 2026 AMX250 Frames
Supercross BMX has announced the return of one of its most iconic designs, the legendary AMX250 six-bar frame, for 2026. Originally made famous during the late 1980s and 1990s, the distinctive six-bar rear triangle became synonymous with Supercross BMX and remains one of the most recognisable frame designs in BMX.
The latest version of the AMX250 stays true to its roots visually while incorporating a number of modern updates aimed at today’s riders.

For 2026, the AMX250 will be available in a range of new colour options and buyers can choose between disc brake or traditional V-brake configurations. One of the biggest updates is the move to stronger 6069 alloy construction, bringing the six-bar platform in line with Supercross’s latest frame technology. The 6069 alloy offers increased strength and improved durability compared to previous generations while maintaining the responsive ride characteristics that alloy-frame fans appreciate.
While the standard AMX250 models are sure to appeal to riders chasing a blend of retro styling and modern performance, Supercross has also introduced something a little different for the cruiser crowd.
The new Speedster 29″ version has been designed with versatility in mind and features 135mm rear dropout spacing. Unlike traditional BMX cruiser frames that are designed around single-speed setups, the wider rear spacing opens the door for multi-speed drivetrains, making the Speedster an attractive option for riders looking to build a fast urban cruiser, commuter or all-round fun bike.
The 29″ platform continues the AMX250’s signature six-bar aesthetic but expands its potential. With the ability to accommodate geared drivetrains, riders have considerably more freedom when it comes to component selection and intended use.
The return of the AMX250 is another reminder of just how much affection BMX riders still have for the iconic six-bar design. Whether you’re building a period-inspired showpiece, a modern cruiser, or a geared 29″ Speedster, the 2026 range combines old-school style with contemporary features in a way that only Supercross can.
For longtime Supercross fans, it’s a welcome opportunity to own a modern interpretation of one of BMX’s most memorable frames.

Back in 1989 when we started Supercross BMX, the original frame was our 6 bar design. We used this design for over a decade on our Cro-mo and Aluminum BMX race Frames.
When we designed the SX250, we were limited on tube sizes that the Steel Mills were running. We had to solve the problem of frame flex and stiffness, so the extra triangulation was our solution. By lowering the first set of seat stays and adding the second set of stays, we had a frame that was stiffer, faster accelerating, and better handling than the others.
We eventually turned the SX250 into the AMX250, the Aluminum Motocross!! And for our 35 year anniversary, we are bringing them back in Limited Editions and Limited Sizes for the BMXers in all of us that love the historic BMX racing.
All frames will have the 35 Years Behind Bars Retro decals.
