Pazzaz CroMo Seat Posts

It’s nice sometimes to go for the best looking or the lightest parts on the BMX racing market and there are many out there on offer, but sometimes there is just no need. Pazzaz are one of the worlds largest BMX manufacturers, their catalog includes a number of high quality low cost seatposts, including the SP-964 which we did a review on one some time ago. Their catalog also includes a couple of chromo posts, well currently they offer two different models for BMX the Superman and the Caboose.

The Pazzaz Caboose seat post

What’s the difference between the Superman (SP-950) and the Caboose (SP-970)? Very little really. They both weigh 549 grams, both come in either black or chrome and both made from 4130 Chromoly. But the Caboose has a 12 degree bend towards the top for those who need a little bit more leg room than what the straight Superman seat posts has to offer.

Why cromo? When it’s strength that counts and nothing else, you can’t beat cromo. Pazzaz products are well known as value for money BMX products. And while their products are marketed mostly towards entry level BMXers there are a number of riders on the US pro circuit that use or have used Pazzaz products.

The Superman and the Caboose

We gave the seat posts a few good weeks of racing and riding to see if we would have any problems with the seat clamping mechanism or bending…but came up with nothing. We are starting to believe Pazzaz’s claim that these are bomb-proof.

The seat clamping mechanism works well…once the seat is installed…but it really is a bit of a pain getting those seat rails into the mechanism. If you have little patients it might be worth while having your local bike shop install the post for you. One thing is for sure the mechanism really locks down on your seat rails there is not a chance that the seat will move.

If you would like more information about the Pazzaz Superman or Caboose check your local bike shop or go to www.pazzaz.com.
